They may have a small menu, but you really can't go wrong with any of their drink specials. Coffee is quality, matcha is quality, their flavors are quality. The most recent latte I got was a black sesame latte and it was perfection. A lot of places around try to hide their coffee & matcha quality with a crazy flavor combination, but Equinox is one of the few places where I'm going specifically for the smooth flavor of that espresso or tea. They occasionally have pop-ups at places like Commonwealth VA or Virginia MOCA for Night Shift and it's the best pick-me-up for community events. Great staple. I stopped into Equinox to take coffee to-go on my house hunting adventures! I am moving into the area so I thought I would try out a few of the local spots- Equinox came highly recommended by locals. Upon walking in, you can appreciate the ambiance immediately. Lots of natural light, plenty of seating, and I even love that there's bar top seating to watch the baristas craft some beverages. The decor is eclectic, local artists' work featured on the walls for purchase, a shelf with books available. I ordered a horchata cold brew but opted to get it with whole milk instead of oat milk- I'm just not an oat milk girly like everyone else. It comes with the cold brew and their mix of housemade flavors for this beverage. I came in on a Saturday morning & I felt bad because there was only 1 barista working to get through the line of us. Not a complaint- he worked quickly and efficiently, got through the line like a champ and still gave quality beverages out. I know it's difficult to find good workers, so props to this worker for still keeping Equinox goers filled with delicious beverages. There were several amazing looking treats in their display case from local bakers- if I hadn't already grabbed a treat somewhere else I would have definitely grabbed one. Stop 11 for me on the Coastal Coffee trail 2022. I did not know this existed and was happy to try a new coffee shop. The atmosphere is wonderful. Beautiful brick walls and art and the music was really great. Jazz. Then we ordered Horchata Iced with almond milk. My bestie said this was her favorite of the whole trail. I also thought it was great. Perfect blend of spices and just the right amount of sweetness. It is also dog friendly. And we enjoyed petting dogs. It is such a comfortable place to hang out.They have seating inside and outside. Both are great. If I'm in that part of town I'm definitely going again. There is street parking. And I think the neighborhood is use to people parking in front of their houses. So we had no problem parking. What a great find. Stop #12 on the Coastal Coffee Trail (Summer)! Almost there! I've passed this shop many times, but haven't had the chance to stop in. Equinox is one of the participating shops on the trail, so this was a good excuse to stop in! - Parking - I parked on the street. I was lucky to get one front and center. Pssssst....During my visit, I happened to strike up a convo with the shop's neighbor (he came out to see what the commotion was outside - a car heated up and sirens were blaring just before I pulled in). He informed me that in future, I could park in the lot for businesses across the street on 28th (belongs to same building owner). It's just under construction now, it looks like it's being repaved. So, you're welcome! Parking is a pain in that area of Norfolk (most places in NFK really LOL), so any business with dedicated parking is worth moving up a few spots on your priority sequence on your hit list! - Vibe - Love the natural wood, industrial feel. LOVE the bookshelves full of reading material! I thought it was a communal library, but the books are for sale. - TLC - The guy seemed nice. - Sips and Noms - I got the Golden Mocha iced, because I wanted to sit outside on their patio and it was HOT. Summer is coming quick! I got this drink solely on the fact that it has turmeric. That's the new cayenne and it's good for you. I feel like I am turning into my mother, eating something just because it's good for your health LOL. Interesting flavor, but it was actually good! Now on to the noms. The baked goods are displayed right in front to make eye contact. They carry goods from local businesses, Kahiau Bakery & Cafe and Sarah'ndipitous Sweet Treats & Eats. I was really excited that they had Kahiau stuff. It's been on my hit list! I got the blueberry scone and it was so soft and MOIST (don't cringe). This now motivates me to haul my butt over to the actual cafe! It wasn't too busy when I popped in, but it was also early. There seemed to be more to-go customers, so it was pretty quiet. If you're looking for great coffee, excellent service and a friendly barista who will put a smile on your face - you've got to come here. I purely came because Equinox happens to be on the Coastal Coffee Trail line up this summer, and having attempted to come here a few times when at ODU but never able to find parking, today was the day I finally made it in. So glad I finally did. With a relaxing atmosphere teamed with the natural looking decor (super easy on the eyes, I wish my house looked like this!), I could have quite happily sat in Equinox with my laptop, books, a great cup of joe and worked away for hours. In fact, I'm annoyed I didn't come here sooner prior to graduating this semester. Alas, I'll just have to pass by if I'm ever in the area again. Stop #7 on the coastal coffee trail! This was my first time at Equinox. Very cute decor and plenty of places to chill and drink your coffee and eat your pastry. There was even some additional outdoor seating. I didn't notice a ton of food options, just a few pastries that all looked delicious. I chose the apple cider donut cake. It was exactly what I expected! Wish there were more food options but I came for the coffee. I stuck to my usual iced Vanilla latte with almond milk...the coffee here was so good! I like a strong coffee flavor with subtle sweetness and this was it. Definitely a great coffee spot to come to if your near by! Equinox Coffee is a neighborhood coffee shop, situated on a corner, with plenty of free residential parking. The hubs and I stopped by to try out their hot beverages as we were in the area, waiting for an eatery to open. We ordered a chai and a Golden, as well as a vegan pop tart. Unfortunately, both of the beverages were super watered down, even with adding the half and half; I did like that they serve it super hot. The Golden, I guess it's more of a personal preference, but I was not a fan of the flavor, so after a sip, it was just pushed off to the side. I believe this place partners up with a local organic bakery, the Bakehouse at Chelsea, or maybe they have changed, but either way, the pop tart was delicious! I loved the glaze, and the filling was scrumptious. I'm thinking that maybe one should stick to the coffee category. Equinox is such a dope little coffee spot with a relaxed atmosphere that makes it perfect for being productive; furthermore, I met up with a friend to do some leisure writing, and I'm glad we picked this place. Heidi was exceptional in helping my friend and I navigate their menu and decide what we wanted to snack and sip on while we did our writing. I'm not usually a hot coffee drinker, but the Bonfire Latte was exquisite. The mocha and activated charcoal in it created a cookies and cream flavor profile which was to die for. I was also quite fond of their egg soufflé pastry and homeade poptart; both were delicious and light, yet filling. I have to say, this was the best latte I've had in HR. And I've had a lot of lattes in HR!!! I tried a seasonal one that had turmeric, cinnamon, and a cardamom syrup (house made) with oat milk cause I'm not a fan of dairy. So! He explained that it was lightly sweetened, and that they are very conscious of not making things overly sweet, which was music to my ears! Our barista was super helpful and descriptive which made the experience even better. The whole coffee shop has a great vibe, very clean and modern but comfy to chill in. This is one of those "How have I not left a review for this business yet???" moments for me. I have so much love for this little coffee shop who makes the best golden milk latte in Hampton Roads. You can try to fight me on that, but you will lose. Locally owned! I often see the business owner having brainstorming or networking meetings with makers, small scale coffee roasters, and other types of unique business owners. There are always signs in the window showcasing local happenings. You get the warm & fuzzy vibes that the owner really cares about connecting with and making a difference in the Coastal Virginia/Norfolk community. It's refreshing and makes you feel good supporting the business. Okay, so warm and fuzzies aside- how is the coffee? Everything I have tried has been excellent! I will drive out of my way to come here in the afternoons for their non-espresso superfood lattes. The golden milk latte is my favorite - turmeric, honey, and cinnamon. A nice perk me up in the afternoon without the espresso to make me jittery. I am also a fan of their beet latte, and of course, the lattes with espresso are great too. They have a variety of milks to choose from if you are dairy-free - I'm personally not dairy-free, but I enjoy oat milk lattes. From a coworking perspective, the wifi is excellent. There are several outlets if you need to charge up. It is rarely crowded from my experiences, so I don't feel terrible about lingering while I finish some work. They also have small bites like scones and croissants. I think they have sandwiches too, but I stick to drinks when I come here and like to grab some southern food from the business next door when I leave. Described myself as a coffee purist, then asked him to make me whatever he thought I'd enjoy. He proceeded to prepare a cup of pour-over El Salvador ($4.25). It was smooth, rich and bold, but no where near Sumatra level, which I don't like. Spot on deliver and service. While steeping, we chatted more about life only to discover I know/work with his in-laws. I sat down at the counter made from wood, pulled up a black metal stool, and had no trouble connected to the fast, free 5g WiFi ("staylifted"). Read an ebook in between glancing out of the window at colley Ave on a rainy Friday. Discovered a tree stump on the counter with small paper squares and a sign inviting customers to jot down things they're thankful for, only to clip papers onto the "Equinox Tree of Thankfulness." Cool idea that boasts positivity and brings the community together over shared ideals. Stopped in this morning with a friend as part of the Coastal Coffee Trail! LOVE IT HERE! Located on a corner with street parking. Cafe was not crowded at all but offer plenty of seating indoor and outdoor the menu is simple but has enough that everyone should be able to find something they like or try something different on each visit. In addition to me and my friend, a steady stream of customer traffic was being served by a friendly and capable barista, all of which seemed to be repeat happy customers, a nice thing to see. I adore Equinox! It's a tiny little shop in a location where you can find ample street parking. Free wifi, excellent loose leaf tea blends, and a number of tasty treats/pastries if you need a pick me up. Prices are super reasonable compared to other coffee shops in Norfolk. It's never been super packed when I've been in, so I've always enjoyed the vibe. They play decent music at a reasonable volume and have a fairly high degree of natural light near the front of the store. The vibe here is sort of modern industrial, so the seating situation isn't the most comfortable -- and spreading out to work is a bit of a challenge. It's easily 4 1/2 stars -- I only didn't give it five because my butt starts to hurt if I hang out on the metal chairs too long. If you haven't checked it out, give it a shot! read more

Undeniably cute coffee shop! I'm a huge fan of the fun autumn drink menu which featured espresso drinks with ingredients like activated charcoal, maple syrup, and beet powder. I was already somewhat familiar with the consumption of activated charcoal, so it didn't put me off as it may for those who have never heard of it. Anyhow, the flavor of the espresso was not lost, and it was a tasty, well-caffeinated drink. I intended to stay for a while to get work done, but it wasn't my favorite environment. There was plenty of room to do so, and outlets available if needed, but I couldn't find a comfy seat. The tables are all very narrow so I wasn't able to spread out my things well enough to be efficient. Where I was sitting, the table was too far out in front of me to lean against the wall and comfortably work on my laptop at the same time. My back soon started hurting and I decided to head out, crossing this spot off my "good for working" list. I would definitely stop in to hang with a friend and try another creatively crafted drink, but just not my favorite coffee shop as a whole, specifically to get work done. Comfortable, Large Space but with lots of Feels! Parking was easy just don't park across the street after 9am every second Tuesday my friend said to eat a pop tart as it will change my life!
