Cool vibe, bit of a modern industrial roaster aesthetic. Staff were patient, professional, and provided good recommendations. I went with a Rwandan special pour over, one of my nephews got the hot chocolate, my daughter and another nephew each got iced caramel lattes. It was a bit chilly but we still enjoyed seats in their beautiful garden area. The Rwandan was served at optimal temperature and was complex and delicious! I recently visited Fathom, a cozy, charming coffee shop I discovered after leaving the Old Beach Farmers Market.  They are conveniently located off Baltic Ave and have  plenty of free street parking (No fear of getting towed)  The interior is small, with a limited waiting area, but the outdoor seating in the back is the true highlight. It has tables and umbrellas overlooking a beautiful flower and vegetable garden. I was especially impressed by how dog-friendly Fathom is; my dogs were welcomed inside just like any other guest, and there are even pictures of their furry guest on the walls near the entrance. Their prices are very affordable & reasonable, especially compared to other coffee shops in the oceanfront area. On my first visit, I ordered a hot caramel latte with almond milk and an iced white chocolate mocha latte, and both drinks together were just over $11. They were well-balanced and delicious. My Second visit I decided to try one of their seasonal drinks. I ordered a hot coconut drift latte with almond milk, my daughter a watermelon lemonade and a pup cup. I was really impressed with the service my dog received, as they made their pup cup from scratch! The drinks have consistently been high in quality and flavor on each visit. It's worth mentioning that they don't serve food, but they do offer some pre-packaged snacks for purchase. Fathom has officially become a part of my Saturday morning routine when I visit the farmer's market. I highly recommend giving Fathom a try if you're in the area; you definitely won't be disappointed! read more

So crazy story...I actually I found this place while looking for another coffee spot in the Vibe District. It is definitely a hidden gem, and I shouldn't say a "hidden" gem because it was packed lol. I stumbled across Fathom Coffee one Saturday morning. The inside is very small with 2 tables in the inside. The line was pretty long which was good sign. That meant it must be good. It would be a place that I grab the coffee and go because I sat in the chair while waiting on my coffee to be made and I felt like I was in the way because the line was long. They do have seating outside. One thing I noticed was that prices were extremely reasonable. There was so much to choose from and I ordered the vanilla shaken espresso with oat milk. They didn't upcharge for the milk which was a plus. My coffee was delicious! I can definitely see why the line was long and will be returning soon! read more

Came here for our coffee fix after brunch on Easter Sunday. Hubs got an iced mocha and I got an iced vanilla latte. Only complaint is that I asked for light ice which meant that they filled the cup with less coffee/milk. When you pay $11 for two coffees, I expect a little more product. That was a disappointment, but overall, very yummy drinks which we took on a boardwalk bike ride. read more

First of all, this place has great freshly roasted coffee beans that are particularly amazing for Espresso shots! But a little backstory: I had walked about 2 miles dropping my car off to get repairs and then I walked all the way to Fathom to get some coffee. It was my first time being a patron of this shop, but I needed caffeine! The baristas were so kind and comforting. The smell of fresh coffee being made and all that merch and coffee paraphernalia around the shop gave it such a nice, laid back and modern vibe. One thing about local coffee shops, the team members will make you feel like you're part of their squad. I've used many coffee beans for my Espresso machines. From store-bought to locally harvested. From Cafe Stella Roaster to Fathom I've tried them all, and in my personal opinion-- I've had some of the smoothest, richest, and creamiest espresso shots with Fathom beans. On top of purchasing their beans, you get a free iced coffee as a "thank you!" You'd never get that at most places! So sad that Fathom was less than desirable. I've heard rave reviews about Fathom and have had it on my "to-try" list for over 6 months. Finally made it over this weekend and I should have listened to my sense of smell when we walked in and both immediately looked at each other and stated that it smelled VERY weird in the establishment. My first thought was "OOPS, they terribly burnt that batch", but the stickers on the wall stating "never burnt" eased my mind LOL. Sadly, it was un-drinkably (is that a word?) burnt and a complete waste of $6. The only saving grace for the 2 stars rather than 1 was the delicious cold foam served atop. Since it most definitely could have been an off-day, I will probably try it again in the future, but for now, a bit turned off. read more

Can't fathom ((see what I did there)) how we didn't know about this place before today! Came here today for the first time after finding out about this spot on the coastal coffee trail. Walking in, they've got a large list of coffee options. Unfortunately today, they were out of their nitro cold brew, so I got a pour over (Mexican coffee) - got it black and it was very good. My husband got the cortado and liked it also. We came on a day where it was 95 degrees outside, so ended up having to sit in the car to drink our coffee. Took off one star because the location is small and they do not have indoor seating and they seemed a little rushed. I do like that they have specialty options that benefit charities as part of their menu! Will be back when it's a little cooler out. read more

What an amazing shop with amazing customer service. These ladies know their coffee and can guide you with recommendations. This is my second time visiting and have enjoyed my coffee both times. We even left with a hiking spot recommendation that turned out to be a beautiful spot to hike and enjoy our Fathom coffee. They have a huge selection of pour over and espresso coffee. Nitro Cold Brew on tap. The espresso was great, the nitro tho could have been a little richer. They share a building and community patio with Commune and Esoteric. Like I said they take it to a whole new level . -If there is a coffee you love . You can take whole beans or freshly ground home. They have mason jars and air seal them. If you bring the jar back you get money back for that and that goes towards your next purchase. I love that they recycle and reuse . They also sell empty coffee sacks. Now to tell you about the coffee we have tried. Lattes come in all different seasonal and regular flavors. You can get them as sweet as you want and use different choices of milk . Very customized. The staff is awesome about listening to your style. I like sweet and my husband does not. They made our lattes to suit our individual needs and we both were inlove with our lattes. We have also gotten a pour-over. This is a total delight. I spoke with my barista for a while about the different beans that they had. She was extremely knowledgeable about the flavor notes. Yesterday we took an unexpected trip to Virginia Beach. Of course I had a lot of different things on my list to try, but I was in need of a caffeine hit. I want to say that I'm not in the business of hurting small business. With that being said, I do drink a lot of coffee, and think of myself as an expert in this field. I felt as though my coffee wasn't really espresso, and I did specifically order a latte. Other than that the chai lattes we ordered were so delicious, and an amazing price too. As far as the interior, it's pretty tiny in there, but it definitely gives off coffee by the beach vibes. There is a back patio that is shared with the restaurant next door, but other than that not a lot of places to sit. However it's spring, and it's weather to be taking a stroll with your coffee. This is my first time at Fathom Coffee, and for the most part, I enjoyed it. The quality of coffee was amazing and I would definitely go back to try other options. Unfortunately, with that being said, I ordered a chocolate croissant, and they handed me one in a rapper. It was kind of doughy and soft, which is kind of awkward for a croissant. For an area that represents their products of of being local or homemade, I found it odd that they purchased packaged products from elsewhere. There is a bakery literally across the street that they can source from, and it would be a better option than this, in my opinion. Also, they didn't ask me "for her or to go", so I don't know if they only use paper cups or this was just a one off but having a cappuccino and a to go cup while eating at their establishment is kind of a mood killer, especially when the outdoor seating is an amazing spot to hang out and just chill. read more

My partner and I tried Fathom Coffee last weekend and what a great VB hidden gem! Their Chai Tea Latte was the best I've ever had - not too sweet and perfectly aromatic. We also tried the nitro cold brew as well as the food items (waffle and chocolate pastry). Both the waffle and chocolate pastry were so much better than I expected, so we ended up buying more. For being close to the oceanfront, I was pleasantly surprised by their prices, which were very reasonable. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. We loved how friendly they were with our dogs too. Stop number 10 on the Coastal Coffee Trail, almost there! This coffee shop shares a parking lot with Esoteric. Not huge but a parking lot nonetheless! I appreciate this as someone who struggles to parallel park and has anxiety about where I will park! This place is so adorable! I loved the patio and sunflower garden! All the seating was outdoor so keep that in mind. I didn't see many food options aside some biscotti so if you come here it will definitely be for the coffee. The coffee I got was worth it!
