Love Buckroe. They're pretty consistent overall with an occasional off day here and there, but I'm always a happy customer. My go-to is the Teddy Graham latte which is perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. I love that you can actually taste the coffee in the lattes and it's not just milk. I really want to love this place. I'm in town visiting my mom and always make a point to support local spots, so I was excited to try this café. Unfortunately, the service on my first visit was abysmal. I walked in and wasn't greeted by a single barista. No big deal--off days happen. I waited in line, knew exactly what I wanted (a latte is my go-to test of any coffee shop), stepped up to the counter, made eye contact, smiled... and nothing. The cashier just stared at me. No hello, no "what can I get you," nothing at all. After an awkward pause, I finally ordered a large latte with whole milk. Still not a word. I had to look at the card reader to figure out my total. Honestly, a self-serve kiosk would have felt more personable. That said, I always give local businesses a second chance. I sat down, read a few chapters of my book, and noticed a gentleman wearing a Buckroe Coffee shirt taking out the trash. We exchanged smiles, said good morning, and he thanked me for coming in--simple, human interaction that made a difference. I even left a handwritten note suggesting that improved customer service would go a long way. I returned the next day and was greeted when I walked in--thank you. The service was still slow, but the breakfast sandwich was good and the experience was noticeably better. Because of that, I'm rating this to four stars. There's real potential here. Not in the best part of town and looks rundown on the outside, but the inside is great! Lots of comfy seating, a lot of choices for foods (expensive), and the coffee is really good. Staff were friendly as well. Did take a while to get our coffee, but it was worth the wait. read more

This local coffee shop has been the GOAT from Day ONE!!!! Lots of community involvement, promoting togetherness & pouring back into hampton any chance they can! Their menu has grown since opening & it offers some of the best that VA has to offer! The baristas are superstars & can recommend some of the most delicious options just by telling them your preferences!! The açaí bowl is hands down my FAVORITE!!! There are even a few concrete tables outside. There was a good crowd inside when I went on a Tuesday morning. Bonus - there is a drive thru!! This place is too cute. I went on a whim for a solo date instead of Starbucks or seven brew, which are my standards. The honey lavender latte was literally one of the best cups I've ever had. Holy moly! Hampton is holding such a gem with this coffee shop. Buckroe Coffee Co. is the kind of spot you'd expect to find right on the oceanfront, but the fact that it's nestled here in Hampton makes it all the more special. You really can't miss it! Between the big, bold sign and the giant Adirondack chair out front, it catches your eye right away. Inside, the shop is decorated with the perfect amount of low-key beach vibes. The playlist is total beach day radio. One thing I really appreciated was the menu. It's not overwhelming at all, but still offers plenty of great flavor options. I was so happy to see a Lavender Latte on there (when don't I go with lavender, lol). And as a big açaí bowl fan, I was pumped to try theirs. Sweet, fresh-tasting, and just the kind of light bite I love in the morning. The bananas were a little overripe for my taste. I'm funny about bananas when they get too mushy. The seating setup is mostly geared toward groups, so while there's a decent amount of it, it's not exactly ideal if you're looking for a solo nook. I loved exploring the old vault they've kept as part of the shop's charm. & the restroom was clean and stocked. All in all, my latte was smooth and flavorful, the açaí bowl was fresh and tasty, and the vibe was exactly what I needed to start my day right. I'll definitely be back. I brought my toddler and baby here for a coffee and pastry. Both were incredible! But that's not why I'm taking the time to write this review. While we were seated, the owner came over to offer my daughter some coloring pages. I was struggling a bit with my baby and he moved things around to give us more space and set my toddler up with the coloring. He was just very kind, a rare good person. I'm sure this was a small moment to him, such a small minute of his day. But as a mom who had not slept in months and was struggling, it made a lasting impression on me. I returned with my extended family recently. Same thing - the owner came over and asked how everything was, if we needed anything. This is mainly a 4-star review as everything was good except the grilled cheese! Drinks: Fresh-squeezed Strawberry lemonade-very good. I prefer mine a little sweeter but still very good. Vanilla shake- delicious Service: Nice woman who took our order. Chatted with the owner who was also very kind. Ambiance: Has a cool vibe inside. Booths and a couch and a few bar height tables. It's an old bank and they have their shop of merchandise inside the bank vault. They even have a drive-thru. Alright here is the part that was not good. The food. I had the grilled cheese and the cheese was not melted! It was just slices of cheese on slightly toasted bread. The owner did come over to ask how the food was, and I said fine. It's open area that has plenty of seating areas ( community tables by large windows, booths, small love seat , and individual tables) The staff has been extremely nice and helpful . It took about 30 minutes in total to order our drinks and receive them. That aside, the drinks themselves were delicious! We came back the next day around 9 AM and didn't have to wait in line at all. We ordered drinks and breakfast sandwiches, which were all good! The staff were friendly and greeted us as we walked in, despite how busy they were. We checked out the NEW Buckroe Coffee Co on Pembroke today! It's a great spot! The coffee and the staff is great. But the real treasure is out back. There's a big garden and walking paths, there's. A swing under a tree in the shade. There are picnic tables spread throughout. It's pet friendly and kid friendly. There's even a little play area for little ones. Tastes like coffee with just a touch of sweetness. There was an extra shot that would go to waste and I was given it as is to drink. Let me just say. That crème was beautiful and creamy. While the shot itself was smooth and lacked any of that battery acid bitterness i usually experience at coffee shops. One of the best tasting shots I've ever had.
