My bestie and I stopped by Eggs Up Grill for breakfast, and despite all of the tempting breakfast options, I exercised my free will and ordered a patty melt at 9:30 in the morning. Their menu looked really good across the board, from breakfast bowls to the classic eggs, bacon, and pancake combinations. I was fully prepared to order breakfast until I saw the patty melt and immediately got the wheels spinning. One thing I appreciated is that everything on the menu is available while they're open, so no judgment for wanting lunch before 10 a.m.! The patty melt was so good. It was perfectly cheesy, the bread was grilled just right, and it absolutely hit the spot. It came with crinkle-cut fries, which were pretty standard but paired well with the sandwich. Our waitress was great as well--very attentive and on top of things throughout our meal. There are still plenty of menu items I'd love to try! I'd happily come back for breakfast, lunch, or even lunch for breakfast again. ;) read more

We ordered online through their system and after an hour of waiting, our order never made it to the restaurants kitchen to be made. we wasted our morning waiting for an order that was stuck in the restaurant's own system. Not sure how that happens. When we got there to pick up our food, as we were trying to figure out what happened, the place was a zoo and so unorganized that we just went elsewhere. The place has good reviews so maybe the experience is much better if you eat inside. read more

I've returned here a few times over the past year since my initial review. I'm happy to say that it is still as great as the first time. Service is prompt and friendly, food is consistently good. Sunday morning and this place is jam-packed! I was seated by a beautiful waitress named Samantha. She did a phenomenal job taking care of us even with all the tables she was assigned to. My meal, the Egg Bomb BLT, was amazing. The egg was cooked just how I wanted it- over medium with a runny yolk and the bacon was extra crispy. The mimosa flight was great. I chose the classic, blueberry, pineapple, and strawberry lemonade. As for the home fries, they were just red potatoes with a bit of seasoning. I was expecting chopped onions and bell peppers on them. By the end, I felt a bit buzzed with the flight lol. Large groups of family, friends, and dates come, so the noise level is pretty loud. My daughter and I come here pretty regularly. We love this place. The servers are all wonderful and the food is great. Every time I order a latte which comes with whipped cream on the top they know my daughter tries to eat it off my coffee so they bring her own little cup of whipped cream it's the cutest. I was out of town and craving breakfast so I found this local spot that was open until 2pm! I got a pineapple mimosa and the little waffle in the hen house. The mimosa was delicious and they have many different flavors. The waffle had a great flavor and I added strawberries and bananas which I highly recommend! After six weeks of recovering, my beautiful wife has a clean bill of health. We celebrated with breakfast at a spot in Hampton called Eggs Up Grill and they made the day! This spot was delicious with GREAT service! (Shoutout Anastasia) And the price was worthy to note! I haven't been this hype about a restaurant in a long time! The staff was amazing. The Head chef was in the kitchen looking like Tom Brady on Sunday! Just kept everything flowing and each meal was a masterpiece. TOUCHDOWN!!!! Meh. Service, ok. Food, meh. Avocados tasted like legos, crunchy and bland. I overheard a server tell another that the avocados won't be sliced today but will be smashed on all the dishes. I must have been the last sliced. If the cook knew they weren't ripe when he sliced them then why serve them? I think they operate in a volume business and aren't worried about putting out great food, just good enough. Crab cakes were mild, tasty. Size of a silver dollar or those little powder sugar donuts you get 6 in a sleeve. My egg scramble was advertised as having hollandaise sauce. I didn't see any. I asked. Server said the veggies and eggs were cooked in the sauce. If I'm asking where the sauce is then I'm not tasting it. She had a chance to recover if she would have offered to get a little side cup of it but she had to move on to her perceived more profitable tables. The menu has a nice variety. We returned to the Norfolk location this Easter Sunday. I came Hampton, one of the table came from Norfolk, the other drove in from Virginia Beach's Oceanfront. Management gave us peculiar glances when we came in. We were greeted by the three servers who treated us with respect. By the end of the meal, the management had terminated at least one of the three (our particular server) and ordered them off the property or they were going to have the local police department called on them. We will NEVER go back and spend one more penny at this restaurant. The fact they treat not only their employees (some of whom drive from outside the local area) this way but don't seem to care about their customer experience makes me happy that other breakfast options are opening in the area with better food options and with better treatment of employees. Remember this, Eggs Up Norfolk: Treat 1 person right, they will tell, maybe, 10 people. Treat 1 person wrong, they will tell EVERYONE. Since my girlfriend and I were in Norfolk headed to Selden Market, we decided to stop here for some breakfast. To our surprise, they didn't have much of a crowd so getting seated was no problem. But let's rewind just a bit about this restautant. Eggs Up Grill is actually a franchise which first opened up in South Carolina in 1997. All of their locations are in the Southeast with several new ones opening up in the Carolinas and Georgia. In Virginia, they have this location along with two in the Richmond area. Not a bad deal if you travel up that way. Now, onto the food. To start off with beverages, I picked the Caramel Cinnamon Smile, which is dark roast coffee mixed with cream and syrup topped with whipped cream, caramel drizzle and cinnamon sugar. This right here definitely made me smile. Every ingredient came together with each sip. Being a coffee person, this was in my zone. Next up, I ordered the Texas Farmhouse, an omelet consisted of bacon, andouille sausage, mushrooms, home fries, pepper jack cheese, pickled jalapenos and green chiles topped with sausage gravy and green chiles and a side of home fries and buttered toast. Can you say fufilling?? This omelet worked to near perfection. Only slight negative was I didn't taste much cheese but it was no biggie. I got so full I couldn't eat everything. So I gave some of my leftovers to my girlfriend. This place right here will definitely be a repeat. A nice-looking diner-type spot with friendly staff and food you'll enjoy. Went in for breakfast my friend has a serious gluten allergy, we asked the server can they cook her food on a different grill and/or pan she said yes so it was perfect. Two minutes later we were told all the grills had gluten on it so we just decided to cancel our orders, the manager told us it was almost done even though we just ordered and we had to pay for it I spent $93 dollars on food we never got. We asked prior to avoid confusion over the allergy. Horrible experience and I've been here before with no problems but the manager did nothing to help. read more

Unfortunately, the cheese wasn't even melted in my omelette - I pointed it out to Tay. She wad going to send the manager over. The manager apparently didn't feel compelled to come over and rather than make it right, just changed us full price even though we sent the full plate back except for the toast. Came here for brunch with my mom and sister! Avocado Toast: My mom ordered this and I'm not an avocado person so I didn't end up trying this. However she said it was really tasty and filling! The Classic: My sister and I both ordered this and were in LOVE. You get such a big portion. Both her and I swapped out the toast for a pancake which I think was the right move. I love making myself a little breakfast sandwich with the toast but between the potatoes, eggs, and sausage it was nice to have the sweetness of the pancake to balance out all that savory! The pancake had the perfect crispness around the edges. The sausage, eggs, and potatoes were all cooked to perfection as well. Ambiance: This place really reminds me of the diner in A Cinderella Story starring Hillary Duff lol. All they are missing is the skates! The restaurant is super bright with accents of teal and yellow all throughout. Service: There were only about 2 waitresses from what I could tell when we went. It was peak brunch time but still our server was super attentive to us. We did have to wait a bit to pay for the bill but the traction did start to pick up so it's completely understandable. Super cute restaurant with a light, airy feel! The turquoise and yellow decor give fun, beach vibes. Our waitress was VERY nice. I wish I remember her name. I had the chicken fried steak breakfast! The chicken was very good, and the biscuit too. The eggs were eggs but I will say their home fries aren't the best I've ever had. I added sour cream just for some flavor. I love that they serve lattes because a lot of restaurants don't. The French vanilla latte is really good. Their corned beef hash is supposed to be homemade; however, it wasn't really any different than what comes in a can in my opinion. Today we just happened to be in Norfolk and we wanted to go to a coffee shop and stumbled upon this place. I will say the website and menu definitely drag you in and make you feel as if the food will be spectacular. Honestly I liked my food the corned beef hash was really good. However that was the only thing good about the food. The coffee was terrible I tried to drink all of it because it was 5 dollars but it was just so watery and tasted like cheap coffee. Kinda like the instant mix. It wasn't even hot. The grits were probably the worst grits I've ever eaten and My party absolutely hated their food as well but we aren't difficult people at all and don't really complain much. I have eaten at Eggs Up Grill several times and have never been disappointed. For my most recent visit, I invited a friend from Chesapeake to join me there and she was very impressed also. My personal favorite from the menu is the red white and blue waffle. It consists of sliced banana, blueberries, and strawberries on a waffle with whipped cream. The service was excellent. This place is very upbeat and friendly. Their motto is very visible - on the T-shirts that say "We are Family" to the big writing by the bar that says "let us make you smile" to the writing on the right wall as you enter that says "this is my happy place". The decor is cheerful with their color motif a sunny yellow (their pendant lights are yellow) and pale grey. On the left wall by the bar are whimsical pictures of a rooster head, eggs, bread/toast, etc all evoking good food in good times. There was a lot they offer - I ordered cold/iced vanilla cream brew and shrimp and grits. Their cold brew tastes vanilla but isn't sweet; their shrimp and grits came with grilled lemon which they squeezed on the grits that made it tad bit sour (wish they just let us squeeze the lemon to moderate to the taste we want), they didn't remove the lemon seeds do a couple were in the grits which I bit into. Over-all they were generous with the shrimp although it was frozen shrimp. The sausage didn't seem to be cooked well, didn't have the slight briefing or char from grill or stove stop sautéing. I didn't check the charge on the phone so I was without a camera to capture what my brew snd grits looked like. The serving was more than one person's so I took the rest to go. read more
