I love Waffle House. I have since my first time going to one in Mississippi over 20 years ago. I worked at one for all of two weeks once upon a time. Thats a story for another day. My go to order is a cheesesteak omlette and my hashbrowns smothered, covered, country. That is cheese, onions and gravy...IYKYK. That omlette isn't on the menu anymore, but they sure still make it if you ask! I came to this location as my last meal before moving to Italy because there just isn't anything more American. Oh my! After 9 years and likely over 75 visits I cannot help but call myself a huge fan of this particular Northampton location of Waffle House. However there is one caveat and that's if Super WH employee of 30 years John is working. I love to see him in action and it's always top notch. This is an extremely tardy update as my recents have all been above average. But especially my last one was the best ever with an impromptu birthday celebration. After a great All Star breakfast and wonderful service at the counter John caught wind he had a birthday in the house. It was not that busy on a weekday morning and he got everyone chocolate pie on the house and sang happy birthday. To boot a new WH cap...say what! He had a few and handed them out to customers. I visited this location about 2:40am on a Monday night. It was empty, customer wise. When I walked in, I only saw 1 waitress who promptly greeted me. She told me that they only doing to go orders... I'm unsure why though. Thus bummed me out. I ordered the Texas bacon cheesesteak melt plate with hashbrowns about a minute after glancing over the menu. After ordering, I went to the restroom to check cleanliness, and it was nasty... When I came out, the cook and another waitress was present. While observing the restaurant, I noticed a couple tables that still needed to be cleaned. Specifically, one of tables still had the high chair next to it and trash/food on the ground. My food was ready at 2:50am I got some ketchup packets and headed back to my hotel, which was a minute drive away. The first thing I noticed when I got ready to eat was that my hashbrowns were over cooked... However, the bread on my melt was browned beautifully. I drowned my hashbrowns in ketchup and ate them. They weren't bad, but I just prefer my hashbrowns to be more soft than crispy. The melt was delicious! Overall, pretty good experience. It is Waffle House after all... IYKYK lol read more

Can you believe I went 30 years without ever going to a Waffle House? It's true. Because of this, Waffle House was at the top of my list to try when I moved to Virginia. I sat at the bartop and was surprised that the menu is super simple. For some reason, I expected more variety. My server was quite nice, but I could see that service in general here was subpar. Surprisingly quiet at 6am on a weekday, I was the only customer in there for almost an hour. I like quiet and this crew seemed to like it too with not too much moaning about cleanup and other workers. The menu was stcky but the welcome was sincere when my waitress laid out my silverware and took my order. I had the "fiesta omelet" and they were kind enough to substitute mushrooms for jalapenos. Just to let you know I did not get food to review but as you read you will see why. You can't make these things up. I went to this Waffle House to use a freebie for breakfast. It was a free waffle so I decided to get a cheese omelet to go with it. Despite not being busy it still took a minute for the person at the register to take my order. First warning. I told her I wanted to use my free waffle deal and get an omelet with it. I can only describe this as a snort and chuckle both combined but either way it was scary to hear sounds like that coming from anyone. I asked what's with the "chuckle?" She flat out said he does not make good omelets. I am perplexed as to do I take this good honesty or damn you want to piss off your boss. I was like WTF. I ask the cook can you make an omelet? If I am telling a lie may the higher power of Yelp take away my Elite status. He says "I am not good at it but I can try." I am one of the biggest Waffle House fans around, so unless you really screw things up, I am going to be happy just eating in the hallowed yellow lettered halls. We hit this one up after changing from our Williamsburg Resort to the Delta/Marriott for one night to not have to deal with traffic in the tunnel for a 7 am flight the next day. I got a grilled chicken sandwich with has browns scattered and covered and husband had a bacon burger. We let the kids order whatever they wanted and figured they would want a waffle, but one got a grilled cheese (which she never eats) and the other got a side order of sausage! I came to this location to grab breakfast before heading back home from leaving the airport. We walked it were able to seat ourselves and within that time we were greeted pleasantly and gave our orders for drinks. Our waitress was very sweet and checked on us throughout our meal. I arrived close to 7, it wasn't packed but they were busy , I'm guessing to-go orders. Went here with a buddy this morning for breakfast before I dropped him off at the airport. First off, if you're coming here, you're probably looking for just a decent quick bite of food at a cheap price. Well this place nails all of that. When you walk in, it's just a bare bones "no frill" restaurant that what you see is what you get. First off, don't sit on the bar stools. A wooden stump is likely more comfortable. With regards to seating, they don't sit you down, you choose your own spot and someone will come to help you. I ordered a ham/cheese omelette with some hash browns. Supposedly, the hash browns are one of their signature features. I didn't know this until I saw the vast array of options you can get with them. When considering food, check it out because the 'slang" of options is entertaining. Overall, the food was good and worked for what we were accomplishing to do which was a decent breakfast in less than 30 minutes at cheaper than airport food prices. As far as the service, well this is where it could use a little bit of help. However, I honestly think the design of the restaurant is part of what leads to the problem. When you combine the fact that the cooking and prep area is readily visible, combined with the small facility size, the employees are granted virtually zero privacy from the customers. So in turn, they chat in the open. This is where the problems occur. The conversations that were being held were a little loud and in a few cases inappropriate if there were kids around. As for me I could care less considering the reason we were here. Just take this into consideration if going here. Overall, the three stars is because our particular waitress was very friendly and prompt, food was good, facility was clean, and an unbeatable price point. Came here to meet my fiancé during the lunch hour back in February. The staff were not only friendly, but they made our lunch date a pretty great moment. The staff were attentive and courteous to us. They greeted us and made sure we were taken care of. The food was great as well. We were pretty much the only people there, so it was pretty quiet.
