Ibis is located off Diamond Springs Road in a shopping center, in the place of the old Surfrider. We went on a Saturday night and they had a moderate crowd. The restaurant seating could be better, no booths or small table seating for privacy. Service was moderate. The staff was hospitable. The red snapper was delicious. The lamb chops were good but the temperature was not hot. I wasn't asked how I wanted them cooked. The pasta was good but spicy.
I LOVEEEE the food here! The salmon bites are to die for and I highly recommend their Cajun pasta. The ambiance is amazing and we had great customer service as well from the staff.
i've been wanting to check this spot out for a while now, being that it's literally right across from where i stay, and i must say ... it was such a pleasant treat. me and a few friends had reservations for saturday night. walked in, and literally maybe had to wait about 5 minutes before being seated. which is great bc they don't really have much of a waiting area. once seated, our server came over and took our drink and appetizer orders. i ordered a tequila drink (can't remember the name, but i think it was the only drink that contained tequila), and i will say... it was strong and im not complaining. we each ordered apps, and decided to share amongst the table. we ordered the collard dip, calamari, brussel sprouts, and oxtail empanadas. every single appetizer was a hit. for dinner, i ordered the cajun shrimp and chicken pasta, and i had no complaints there. and the for dessert, i went with the sweet potato cornbread. OMG. so good! my only complaint about this spot (which bought this down to a 4), is that our food all came out separately. when dining with a group, i feel it's important for the food to come out all together so you can all enjoy your meals at the same time. kind of the point. this is a place that i'd definitely revisit.
I had a wonderful time at Ibis. Upon entry we were greeted with a smile and got seated immediately even through we didn't have reservations. We got there around 5:30pm and it wasn't very busy. However, after 30 mins it picked up and there were roughly only 5 tables left available so I highly recommend making reservations from Friday-Sunday. We ordered the oxtail empanadas (8/10), old bay wings (9/10), calamari (7/10), salmon bites (8/10) and with sauce (9/10) rib eye pasta (8/10). I can't remember all the names of the drinks but every single drink was amazing a 10 out of 10! The music and vibe were also amazing. They played a bunch of violin covers of classic rnb hits and some Caribbean songs as well.
The food was great, so were the drinks. The service was excellent until 35 min after our reservation started when the dining attendant started booting us off. This continued for 55 min even though we ordered plenty of food and drinks. At 7pm another staff member came to tell us they had a 90 minute limit per table. There were at least three empty tables right in front of us. Unfortunately, this experience made me never want to go back.
It is a truly a rare moment for this Queen to give 5 stars Birthday Dinner reservations were made in advance and I just happened to be a guest on a Saturday Evening. Upon entering the restaurant I was greeted with a line.. There were guests waiting both standing and strayed for to be tended to. I made my way to the Host and advised that I was there for a Birthday Dinner Reservation. The Host advised that Party hadn't arrived yet and the table was being cleared off. I made my way to the bar to have a glass of champagne while I waited for the rest of the guests to arrive. The bar was jam packed on a Saturday evening but I managed to find a stool. I was greeted immediately by the bartender. She was very attentive and took my order right away. I ordered a glass of champagne and the Brussels as an appetizer being that I previously saw that they have gotten incredible reviews. The Brussels were just good/ok. I absolutely LOVE Brussels but these didn't have a particular WOW Factor to me. The flute of champagne was lovely but a single glass was $18.95. I am not sure what was the brand of Prosecco but just a little heads up for the Girlies that love Bubbly as much as I do. Perhaps it may be more cost effective to purchase a bottle if you plan on indulging in a few flutes. Ok.. here was the first hiccup! The entire Birthday Party was at the restaurant on time yet we still had to wait well over 35 minutes ti be seated... we were told that the table was being prepared. Mind you we ended up being seated at a table that was cleaned off from the moment I stepped in there which was now over 45 min pushing to an hour. Second Hiccup! In our Pre Reserved Birthday party we had one child.. after waiting for an extended period of time the Birthday Girl was advised that children are not allowed in the restaurant. After some continued conversation, we were all eventually seated. ( our minor is very well mannered and used to being in upscale dining settings to say the least) lol Now is when the magic begin!!! We were finally seated and our waiters name was Larry.... He was Very Attentive, Knowledgable and accommodating. He quickly took out drink orders, and the appetizers. In a blink of an eye we had all of our appetizers. I was a bit taken aback by how fast the food was coming out of this kitchen! Impressed even.. I ordered the Highly Recommended Oxtail Empanadas and a Passion Fruit Rum Punch 3 Gorgeously Golden Oxtail Empanadas come per serving. They have a super Flaky Crust, Flavorful Oxtail Filling and yummy dipping sauce. I will definitely be reordering these! My Passion Fruit Rum Punch was Amazing! Our waiter Larry brought out this beautiful cocktail and literally sets it on fire right Infront of you.. not only was it delight to see but delicious to sip on and great photo opp! ( Be mindful that there is a 2 Passion Fruit Punch Max per Guest... they say that these can sneak up on you ) Now the party is officially started and everyone places their order in for their Entree. A few people ordered the chicken and seafood Pasta, crab cake dinner with custom sides, a salmon dish, I believe a lamb and I ordered the Whole Fried Snapper with spicy seafood rice and curry sauce. All this food came out Hot and in Record time. Once again I was blow away how fast th food was coming out the kitchen and how on point service was as all the waiters came at once to drop off our meals. My dish was a sight to see. As it should be at around $75 for this dish. Presentation was beautiful. I do feel like my fish was a bit under seasoned and over cooked. The meat on the fish was a bit dry for my liking which made me think that perhaps the fish was fried too long. For what the fish cost I wish it would have been a bit more moist/ juicer. On the other hand the Golden Curry Sauce that was served on the side of this Beautiful Fried Snapper was absolutely DIVINE. I was a bit disappointed that a server didn't come to pour the sauce over my fish. I think that would've added to the wow factor of this dish and the lack of moisture of the Snapper. I love attention to detail and tiny gesture can elevated ones dining experience and make it even more memorable. I do wish there was more sauce for the fish. It was placed on the side in a small condiment cup. Not enough sauce to fish ratio but I didn't bother to ask for more because I was having such a good time . lol The service was spectacular! I loved how quickly the tables were cleaned and how the staff seamlessly worked together to make your experience feel like a more upscale dining experience Another hi light of this restaurant is that the person celebrating is brought out feathered wings to wear! These wings are traditionally worn as an accessory to Caribbean Carnival Costumes! The staff came out to sing Happy Birthday as my friend wore her wings and danced around the restaurant! Let's just say a time was had and I HIGHLY reccomend
Ibis is definitely a vibe! I recommend making reservations as it gets packed fast with other reservations. The service was amazing, they were attentive and I never once had to look for my waiter. The food was very good and well seasoned. Please try the oxtail empanada!!! You'll thank me later. They also have a private room for larger parties. I'll be back soon!
Came here for brunch with friends. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. The decor and ambiance was amazing!! Lots of picture worthy spots. The brunch menu wasn't extensive but had plenty of great options. My friends & I each tried something different. I got the salmon & grits. My friends tried the chicken and waffles, oxtail hash & French toast with eggs and bacon. We shared the mimosa carafe with tropical fruit juice. The glasses were decorated nicely with fruit, the tropical juice didn't have much taste but was still good overall. It was 1 of my friends birthday and we loved hoe they celebrate guest and even give them a card with their dessert thanking them for celebrating with them. Definitely recommend for a nice ladies gathering or date night. Can't wait to go back and try different items!!
Really enjoyed this place! The Hampton roads is overdue for some good brunch spots as well as just good restaurants in general, this one does it well! I would first suggest making a reservation prior to the day you're planning to go. Secondly I would suggest the peach mimosa really good! I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu, everything I had was seasoned well. Lastly if you're questioning it get the Mac & cheese. Service was good, they really work as a team & always checking in.
I love this place definitely a vibe!! My friend celebrated her birthday 20 people and the service was absolutely phenomenal! The chicken and waffles were good , the chicken was fried to perfection! I also loved the soft gospel instrumental playlist and the decor of the restaurant! Definitely will be back soon!
I really loved the atmosphere of this restaurant, it has beautiful decor. It's an upbeat, modern restaurant, not a place to dine if you want a quiet meal. We enjoyed the calamari appetizer. I ordered the red snapper, it was a huge piece of fish, you could really taste the mustard base of the fish used prior to frying it. The rice was not so fresh, the seafood was dried out, for the price I would expect for everything to be fresh. My husband ordered the Rasta pasta, there wasn't a Jamaican kick to it. The servers were friendly, I did advise the server of the dried out seafood and he advised they could have made it fresh if I would have let them know--so if something isn't fresh, I would recommend letting them know, if you would like it remade.
Ambiance--From the moment that you walk in you're hit with beautiful decor and an open concept restaurant. I love the tree of life in the middle of the restaurant so unique! Service--We went exactly at 5 when they opened because we were going for Happy Hour and didn't have reservations. We were greeted with a smile but had to wait because all of our party wasnt there. However she promised that we had a table for us! Food--We went for happy hour specifically so that we could try some of their food on a budget plus we were on a tight schedule. The food didn't take long and everything was great. I loved the calamari 10. The corn ribs had good flavor but too tedious of a finger food to eat. We also had wings, Crab Cake sliders and short rib sliders. The food was delicious we will be returning for dinner!
I came here for my friend's surprise birthday dinner and we had a good time. The ambiance of the restaurant was modern Caribbean upscale. I love the art work. Our table pretty much ordered everything and most of the items received raved reviews. The collard dip was unusual and not expected but not bad. It tasted more like spinach dip. The service was phenomenal until the manager I'm assuming shared we needed to leave because we exceeded our time of being there. That was disappointing. read more

Thank you for celebrating with us. We’re glad your party enjoyed the…
First time here. It's been on my list since I saw they were open. Went for brunch, I had the red snapper with grits, that was a deviation from my normal shrimp n grits but I'm glad I tried it. Deep fried whole snapper was fried to perfection. My friend had the jerk omelette and she enjoyed it. read more
My boyfriend and I stopped into this restaurant for an impromptu date night while visiting Virginia Beach--and as someone of Trinidadian descent, I was pleasantly surprised (and relieved!) to find Caribbean food in the area. From the moment we walked in, the Scarlet Ibis and the soca playing set the tone. We were offered high-top seating or the bar, and we chose the bar since we already knew drinks were happening. The bartender was helpful with recommendations, but we went with the Hibiscus Fizz for him and the Passion Rum for me. Both drinks were strong, flavorful, and perfectly balanced--if you like a cocktail that actually does what it's supposed to do, these are it. We couldn't decide between their two top-selling appetizers, so we ordered both--and thank God we did. Oxtail Empanadas: The crust was flaky and delicious, generously filled with oxtail and paired with a jerk sauce that was packed with flavor. Calamari: Light, crispy, and well-seasoned--not overly battered. Add a squeeze of lemon and dip it in that jerk sauce and it goes to another level. There has to be a little tamarind or sweetness in that sauce, because my Trini taste buds felt right at home. To go, we ordered the Lamb Rasta Pasta... and let's just say it did not make it out of the parking lot. If you're visiting the area and want authentic, flavorful Caribbean cuisine, check out Iris Cuisine. This spot will absolutely fulfill your Caribbean food cravings. I would definitely return. read more

An amazing experience. Truly enjoyed my birthday meal here with my bestie. We both said we had to come back to try their bru ch on Sunday. I love great hospitality and food. I had the cajun pasta said which was great and well seasoned, not spicy at all but very flavorful. Highly recommend. Girlfriend demolished her salmon bite sliders...Will have to order those for self next time didn't swipe one to see how they were. The calamari appetizer was rather tasty as well with the in house made marinara sauce. I was dazzle by our pretty blue flaming spirit drink as well...only allowed two due to alcohol content but we had 1 so we were good regardless...no dui's here! I even nibbled on a brussel sprout which isn't my favorite veggies but would eat these again if made here. Overall 5/5 for food, ambiance, customer service and a lovely evening. read more

Went to this beautiful Virginia Beach establishment and the service was outstanding. The ambiance was amazing it was so beautiful they have this beautiful tree in the middle of the restaurant and it was outstanding if it was your birthday they did a little birthday thing for you and it was entertaining and got you too join in and got the whole restaurant to join in. And the food was delicious very delicious then macaroni and cheese was really like a 15 out of a 10 even though I did put it rated as an 11 out of 10 and I also had the salmon and grits which came with a turkey sausage it was delicious and I also had some scrambled eggs and cheese that was delicious also there's so many things on the menu that I want to try so I will be going back again. It was a great experience and the owner was a lovely person to had a chance to chat with her. I would recommend that you give this restaurant a try elevated soul food. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJsekd-x4QR/?igsh=MWFyaHc3dGEyeGp1Yw== read more

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Ibis. We…
This place was amazing. The decor is great, and the room is very spacious. I came here before the official grand opening, and the food, and service were great. We started with the Salmon Bites and the Oxtail Empanadas, both are a great way to start your meal. I had the Whole Red Snapper plate, which was amazing, from the fish which was moist and flaky, and fried just right, to the rice which was extremely flavorful. My wife had the Braided Shirt ribs which were also amazing. I highly recommend Ibis! I don't think you'll be anything but happy you made the choice. read more

Good evening Fellow Yelpers! Its ya favorite critic again with another note-worthy establishment, I feel you need to either add to your list or check it out!! Its located in Virginia Beach, VA and is a gem to say the least. Greeted at the door by personnel and a beautiful painting to set the mood (oh yeah, elegance is waiting). After informing of our party, we were the led to the back (private room) to our party that was waiting. Immediately seated, and asked drink preference and given time for menu examination. I set my sights on the "Oxtail Empanadas" and "Corn Ribs" for appetizers (see, this is what I mean, when I say, you have to experience it to believe it; the photos dont do justice for the presentation or taste). My wife's meal was "Chicken & Shrimp Pasta", Mine was the "Oxtail Lo Mein" (and yes, your read that right) My palate nor my imagination was ready for the flavors I received upon engorging myself with these delicious items! It was so much, I had to take me a lil to go. I will be returning as often as allowed, lol **Kudos to the Owner, Kitchen Staff, Wait Staff, Servers, Greeter and anyone involved with the creation and maintaining of this fine business! I wish you more business and expansion in the future!! But as I always say, don't take my word for it, go try it for yourself!!!! read more

Sooooo lets me start by saying the place is beautiful, the atmosphere is fun and classy, not fancy but classy. Plenty of parking, very clean and the staff was amazing. if you go ask for Toni when I say WOW... she was the very best. We went for happy hour which is 5 to 7, it was our first time (8/9 in our party) went for a coworkers Bday. We had a dinner reservation for 5:30, so we went at 5 for happy hour to order the apps and drinks we ordered 10 apps, 2 drinks, 1 dessert and 3 entrees to go and the bill was $260 before tax and tip. They allowed us to order happy hour from our table . The food was amazing, what were my favorites... hummm....corn ribs, collard green dip, wings, oxtail empanadas....i didn't get to taste my entree so I will update my post tomorrow with a picture and comments but my entree was the wing boil. We have already made plans to go back... yeh I can't say enough ... and they do a birthday special with angel wings... I'm not going to show all their secrets you will have to go see that for yourself. While we were there 5 birthday's were being celebrated. The owner was there making sure everyone was taken care of and he had ample staff, the food came out quickly and delicious. Let me say one more thing, I'm not sure how they get the food out so quickly but everything tasted homemade there was no commercial, prepackaged food... read more

Took my mom here for her bday and so glad we went! Its so cute and elegant. We went during happy hour to stack up on drinks and it did not disappoint. Its good to note that the lab chops are spicy AF (does not say that on the menu) but the everything else we has was BUSSIN! They made her feel so special on her bday with cake and & a headdress! 10/10 for sure! read more

I tried ibis over the thanksgiving holiday so my review is super late (sorry!) My boyfriend and I went here and tried three drinks from their special holiday menu. The barista was amazing and super knowledgeable on everything in the restaurant. The night we went there were two people celebrating a birthday and the restaurant provided them Mas Feathers (Caribbean costume) and played a special birthday song for them which was a cute gesture in my opinion. The layout is spacious and decorated very nice. They even have an area to snap a few pictures for great content. So with the elevated Caribbean dining I did expect to hear Caribbean music but they played instrumental of some well known mainstream songs on a loop...I personally would've preferred the Caribbean music. We had the oxtail empanadas and WOW highly recommend trying these and grabbing some to go! My boyfriend had the lamb chops and seemed to enjoy it. He definitely would try it again and the bite I snagged was good (lol I personally tried the Honey Garlic Mashed potatoes. It was a very basic and safe decision and the dish was not anything special but was delicious. The barista let us know that they do brunch on the weekend and I have heard about that from multiple people so I will be stopping by for that as well. Dessert was a red velvet cake and it was delicious. All of the plating and drinks were made with beautiful presentation as well. I recommend it for sure. Keep in mind that this is ELEVATED Caribbean cuisine and the prices reflect that. (But it's worth it) read more

I waited an hour and a half to be seated for a party of 3 and several parties that came in after me were seated before me with little to no wait.. They took my name and number to contact me once my table was ready but when I went in to check on the wait time the same person said they didn't remember speaking to me. I was seated shortly after discovering the mix up. After my long wait, the food actually came out surprisingly fast. Unfortunately, the portions were small. I paid $26 for the oxtail, eggs, and potatoes, and honestly, I could've gotten more (and better) for my money elsewhere. That said, the blueberry lemon pancakes were amazing. $12 for two decently sized pancakes felt reasonable, especially since they were the highlight of the meal. The drink that I got was good, pretty, and got me where i needed it to. No complaints there. Overall, this seems like a great spot for drinks and a nice ambiance, but I wouldn't come back for the food. The music was relaxing, the staff was polite, and the vibe was nice, the food just didn't live up to the price or the wait. Theres room for improvement and since I know this is a new business I'm sure they'll iron out the kinks as they go. read more

Happy Hour!!!! This past Friday my daughter and I went to Ibis to check them out for Happy Hour! Upon entering we were so impressed by the modern decor! Perfect place to snap a selfie or to go live on TikTok or IG. Shanita greeted up warmly and showed us to a Hi-top table near the bar. She showed us how to access their full menu including their happy hour specials by using the qr code on the table. We asked her for suggestions and the way she described the menu items made us want to try EVERYTHING! We started by ordering( from. Larry or awesome waiter) the Strawberry peach whiskey sour! So delicious! Just the right amount of sweetness. Topped with a peach slice and strawberry and a sugar rim. We then tried the fried calamari with jerk glaze , the fried salmon bites AND ox tail empanadas. The calamari was fried to perfection, seasoned well and the jerk glaze took it to another level. 10/10! The ox tail empanadas were good. Could have used more filling inside but the meat was tender and well seasoned. I drizzled some of the jerk glaze on the inside and that made me almost order 2 more! 8/10. The salmon bites were just okay. Needed a little bit more seasoning. 6/10. Overall I will DEFINITELY be going back to try all of the other menu items. Make sure you ask for Shanita and or Larry. The service from them was Amazing!!! read more

Discover the newest hotspot for date night or girls' night! Ibis Cuisine brings Southern Caribbean flavors with stunning aesthetics and delicious food and drinks. They even have a private room with a bar for parties! We started with perfectly battered calamari with jerk glaze and irresistible corn ribs. The sauce on the corn ribs was a game-changer. I enjoyed the Passionfruit Rum Cocktail, a balanced drink with a delightful punch. For the main course, the honey garlic chicken on whipped mashed potatoes, with sides of Mac n cheese and Rasta pasta, was outstanding. The crispy skin and juicy meat were perfectly seasoned--a solid 10/10. We ended with moist red velvet cheesecake and divine bourbon ice cream. read more
