No wait time to be seated, but we didn't like the table we were originally sat at, which was in the middle of the room, so we did wait a few mins to be moved to a more comfortable booth instead. To drink, I tried their $5 Cranberry Crush (7/10) it was refreshing and slushy, but not strong at all really just a slushy juice and the Georgia Peach (10/10) loved the flavor and was a decently strong drink. To eat, we started with the Pork Rinds appetizer (10/10) they were definitely fresh and flavorful; I loved the sauce that came with them. I also ordered the Catfish basket (5/10) I was excited when this came to the table because it looked as though it would taste good and was a great portion size; however, it didn't meet my expectations at all. There was no flavor to the fish or batter and the Mac and cheese was very much the same way, bland. The Fishing Pig was absolutely a great way to spend an afternoon with friends. The BLT Club sandwich with extra mayo on toast with candied bacon was smoky, sweet, and honey glaze was a surprise. I usually don't do sweet bacon, but this was crispy. The heirloom tomatoes were ripe, round, and juicy (I love tomatoes). The home made coleslaw was lite on mayo but heavy on cabbage, diced carrots, apple cider vinegar, and crunch. Smoked wings - delicious crisp exterior and honey flavor that permeated all of the meat! 2. Andouille sausage - classic, split and griddled. So good. 3. Ribs - no flavor on them, but texture was perfect. Great vehicle for the three sauces: a Memphis style, Carolina, and a hot sauce 4. Pulled pork - great flavor and texture 5. Brisket. Sadly the brisket is thin cut, a lot of connective tissue that wasn't held at temp long enough to break down to gelatin, resulting in a tougher, chewier texture than one may expect. The hostess didn't greet us at first and we thought it might take a while to get seated but we were in a booth shortly after. We each had the VooDoo juicy IPA and it hit the spot. So this was my first opportunity to visit this establishment and honestly I didn't know it existed. One of my coworkers suggested it as its near Norfolk Navy base and we were visiting a shipman. I brought that home and will use my food saver and put my ribs in the freezer for the weekend...I did pull off a few bites and they were cooked pretty well. The catfish was perfectly fried, coleslaw was basic but good, and the baked beans were ok, more like bbq baked beans... here's the thing I'm from Miami.. and BBQ is a vibe. The only real complaint was the catfish was a tad bit salty, I think they seasoned the fish and the batter... it wasn't send it back salty but every water cup was used... all in all I would go back again and try some other items, and have a drink or two. 4.5 stars but I don't know how to do a half star... oh wait wait I ordered the hush puppies and my friend ordered the wings... The restaurant/sports bar is very spacious. There are lots of TV monitors, and you can see one no matter where you sit. Table service is what you get after the hostess seats you. The tables are covered with paper because depending on what you get, things can get messy. The menu options are complete. You can get a seafood dish, BBQ, or mix. They have kids options also, but I recommend bringing them early cause at night, it's more of an adult environment. Service is amazing. These servers are experienced, friendly, and always available for you. Make sure you tip them nicely if you can. This place has a dive feel to it but is family-friendly.
