Went here Sunday after 7 pm for dinner. No wait time to be seated, but we didn't like the table we were originally sat at, which was in the middle of the room, so we did wait a few mins to be moved to a more comfortable booth instead. Staff were accommodating and friendly. The restaurant has a nice ambiance fit for an enjoyable fun night of drinks and food. To drink, I tried their $5 Cranberry Crush (7/10) it was refreshing and slushy, but not strong at all really just a slushy juice and the Georgia Peach (10/10) loved the flavor and was a decently strong drink. To eat, we started with the Pork Rinds appetizer (10/10) they were definitely fresh and flavorful; I loved the sauce that came with them. I also ordered the Catfish basket (5/10) I was excited when this came to the table because it looked as though it would taste good and was a great portion size; however, it didn't meet my expectations at all. There was no flavor to the fish or batter and the Mac and cheese was very much the same way, bland. Though I am giving a lower rating, I would come back for drinks and to possibly try a different food. Feel like I must've ordered the wrong thing or the cook was having a bad night? I have no clue, but I'm open to returning in the future. My overall rate of experience : 6/10

We really enjoyed our time here! Our waitress Rhett was so attentive and had such great energy. She definitely helped in making this an enjoyable experience. The food was a 10/10 across the board! Portions are big, food is flavorful and the prices a reasonable. I loved the pulled pork and Alaskan Pollock. And the hush puppies are a MUST order! This is a great place to bring the family or come with friends, very spacious and the energy of the establishment was very pleasant.

BLT and slaw. That coleslaw had that southern drawl.

The Fishing Pig was absolutely a great way to spend an afternoon with friends. The BLT Club sandwich with extra mayo on toast with candied bacon was smoky, sweet, and honey glaze was a surprise. I usually don't do sweet bacon, but this was crispy. The heirloom tomatoes were ripe, round, and juicy (I love tomatoes). The home made coleslaw was lite on mayo but heavy on cabbage, diced carrots, apple cider vinegar, and crunch. I was impressed by the fresh collard greens which were well seasoned, not too salty, and definitely Southern. Don't tell anyone but I added hot sauce to my collard greens. Great food and friendly service.

Not the best BBQ. The food is not horrible, but the quality was a little on the low side. The service was excellent, and our waitress stole the show. But I go for the food. This was my first time, so I asked what to order. She recommended the platter and warned me that customers had said the brisket was dry. I ordered the platter, and yes, it was dry. So here is my problem. You get complaints that there is something wrong, and you don't do anything about it? So, are you okay with serving food that isn't good? Is your quality control that poor? Or are you just trying to make a buck and serve bad food? The wings were fine. The fish tacos were so so. I will never go back.

Extremely pleasant place to eat. Great for groups. Fairly popular. Open concept with efficient service. The Blackened Ahi Tuna with Mac and Cheese, delicious! Definitely coming back! Menu is very fun! Extremely clean establishment. Thank you! I'm coming back with friends next time lol!

The atmosphere was great, our waitress was the sweetest person ever, and the food was delicious. The Mac and cheese skillet was smacking and the crab dip/pretzel combo is my new app standard.

Ok, so apparently the Mrs and I must've come here when there was a different person on the smoker. This time around we were not impressed at all. The brisket was very fatty, the ribs were tasteless, the wings were undercooked, and the bbq was overcooked. On a high note the hush puppies were great the slaw was ok and the Mac and cheese was palatable. We won't be returning after this experience.

Delicious, friendly servers, relaxed no frills bar for families. Was worth the drive from VA Beach. The atmosphere was beyond wonderful.

The sides* were amazing and the service at the bar was great! Sadly, the brisket and baby back ribs brought the whole meal down. We may try once more just in case it was an off night. * in addition to those pictures, I had friend green tomatoes and my husband had sweet potato fries and their smoky baked beans.

I'm glad I finally got to check this place out! It was nice that it was open on Labor Day. I went in with some friends and had a great time. There was minimal wait for a booth. Our server was Shannon and she was great with explaining the menu! My platter was delicious. My favorite was the chicken. If I had one wish it would be that the brisket was a little more warmed up. But the flavors were great. I recommend mixing the spicy sauce and Memphis barbecue sauce together.

A great place for large groups, obviously since we had 50 people or so there for dinner. And I have to commend the staff as they delivered great customer service and happy attitudes! I ordered the shrimp po boy and this thing was no boy at all. It was the size of an ogre! There was probably 12 pieces of fried shrimp laying on probably a foot long piece of bread. But it's hard to call this a sandwich because it was all fork and knife to get this in my mouth. Super delicious and great flavor all around. I loved the crispy batter and sauce drizzled over. I would definitely share this next time.

The appetizers were the highlight of our meal. We really enjoyed the fried pickles and the hush puppies with the sweet butter. Our main courses were not good at all. My husband got the ribs and he had a hard time eating them. I ordered the pulled pork and it was dry and cold. It was a little busy when we got there so we did have to wait about 15-20 minutes. Their waiting area is not great. The chairs were not comfortable and it was super close to the door which kept bringing in cold air. The host could have been a little more inviting but our waitress was nice and quick to get our orders and food out.

The food is amazing here! They appeared a little short staffed, it was a Sunday so I kinda get it. Overall this is somewhere I'd recommend and be back when visiting.the menu is plentiful with so many options to choose from. Everything tastes "homemade" and delicious. The service was a little off as I mentioned they appeared to be short staffed. Even with the short staff our waitress and others were very attentive and responsive to anything needed. We had the chicken tacos, Bang Bang shrimp, rib platter, fried chicken, hush puppies and meat platter all of which were "deelish". The alcoholic beverages were a bit dull, tasty but you aren't going to get any kind of buzz with the "pretty" drinks here. Cheers to the Fishing Pig!

When we got to host stand to order, I was told that Grits and waffle cut off at 4pm daily... this upset me because I had looked at menu prior to coming and that's what I really wanted. I've been to Sweet Jam a time or three and each time was just as perfect as the first time. After several visits, I would have to say that my two favorite dishes are their Chicken and Waffles and their ridiculously creamy and delicious Shrimp and Grits. Today is the 2'nd Friday during Lent, so for me that means no red meat. With that being said, if you are looking for a dangerously delicious red meat free dish I would recommend Sweet Jam Cafe's Shrimp and Grits. Let's start with the Chicken and Waffles- the chicken and waffles is a plate of one waffle that is cut into quarters and plated with three full size wings. The waffle is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I think their might be a hint of vanilla in the batter and I love it. The chicken, oh my gosh, sooooooo good. The chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. If they sold just that flavorful chicken skin, I would buy a whole bucket of it. So good. The Shrimp and Grits are...... All I can say about the Shrimp and Grits is to go to Sweet Jam and order a bowl. It is so creamy, the grits are cooked perfectly and the shrimp.... Oh the shrimp. Do your mouth a favor and try this dish. You will not be disappointed.

Really everyone was friendly. I even loved when we left the chefs were telling us "thank you" and "have a nice night." The food, OMG!!! Hands down THE best food spot I've had for dinner in Norfolk. This place even beats out the BC. We started with the pork bites and baaby before I knew it, it was devoured (10/10). The way the huge piece of pork loin was tender, juicy, and flavorful should be studied (10/10). The sweet potato purée and southern veggies paired wonderfully. The chicken?! Juicy!!! (8/10). You would think this would earn the restaurant points, but it just further added to the dissatisfaction. How can a restaurant with such good food be so unpleasant to be in? From the moment I stepped in and interacted with the curt hostess everything was so tense and stressful. Unfortunately the last two reviews of this restaurant completely match my experience tonight. We were rushed and pressured to place orders quickly or lose our right to eat there. I will admit that not all of my party was present on time. But I (the one who made the reservation) and another guest arrived right on time to claim our table. This establishment's policies around ordering are so strict and rigid that it's impossible to relax and enjoy yourself. Life happens, people show up late and things don't always go to plan. The inability for the staff to adapt and accommodate leaves the guests feeling as if their presence is a burden. No one goes to a sit down restaurant to simply get their food and leave. Fine dining is also about the experience. I specifically sought out a Black-owned restaurant to patronize in recognition of Black History Month. To be made to feel so unwelcome after being so intentional about being in that restaurant was the worst part of the whole thing. 350 Grace, do better. You've got the food down. Get the experience down, as well. If managing a busy dining room of patrons is too difficult, might I suggest converting to a drive-through?

I like how in the dining area, they put covers over the overhead lights so it isn't super bright. AND THE DRINKS ARE SOOOOOOO GOOD. First time we went, we overheard the waitress say she didn't want to serve us, she was exhausted. Rightfully so, she was the only server. We held nothing against the server, we were peeved with the owner. The woman with the light hair. Took what felt like forever to even get drinks. They were also out of a lot of food... which isn't necessarily a bad thing... but the items I wanted were no longer available so I just ordered the fried green tomatoes. They were fine, they just needed more sauce and a bit more seasoning in the breading! The poor server was just miserable while we were there, and the owner was just kinda walking around telling everyone what needed to be done, not quite helping, more so micro managing. We ended up tipping the poor girl $35. I hope she got to keep it all. Fast forward to this week. We tried it out again. It was a bit warm. We had been Instructed that they had family visiting and if it got too loud to let her know. The noise wasn't the issue at all. When we sat down we saw that it was 76° inside! We wanted to eat though, so we tried to tough it out. There was only one waiter and then another girl helping him serve the food. Again, and I don't know how it happened again, the boy had said to the lady he didn't want to serve us, there was too much going on. She had told him he was going to serve us, strike 1. We ordered all of our food at once to make the poor kid's life a bit easier. We didn't get drinks until about 20 minutes after sitting down. (The pineapple drink bangs btw). And we were literally sitting there DRIPPING sweat. Even the owner had beads of sweat alllll over her face. We ended up asking for our order to go. And my husband ordered his sandwich without Cole slaw. We said that literally a COUPLE of minutes after we ordered. The food magically appeared, and they had US package it all up. And my husband couldn't even tell the owner that he asked for no Cole slaw, but she kept talking over him. And she ended up being the "polite" kind of rude after we asked for our food to go. We weren't angry, we were just hot. But looking back on the bigger picture, it definitely angry. Especially for the young people they have serving. The poor server was so stressed so again, I do not blame the servers. We tipped that bot $25 and again, I hope he gets it ALL. I 100% put the blame on the owners. This place should be a food truck... not a restaurant. The bad reviews didn't make sense to me.... Until they did.
