    The Brunch!

Ok, so apparently the Mrs and I must've come here when there was a different person on the smoker. This time around we were not impressed at all. The brisket was very fatty, the ribs were tasteless, the wings were undercooked, and the bbq was overcooked. On a high note the hush puppies were great the slaw was ok and the Mac and cheese was palatable. We won't be returning after this experience.

Not the best BBQ. The food is not horrible, but the quality was a little on the low side. The service was excellent, and our waitress stole the show. But I go for the food. This was my first time, so I asked what to order. She recommended the platter and warned me that customers had said the brisket was dry. I ordered the platter, and yes, it was dry. So here is my problem. You get complaints that there is something wrong, and you don't do anything about it? So, are you okay with serving food that isn't good? Is your quality control that poor? Or are you just trying to make a buck and serve bad food? The wings were fine. The fish tacos were so so. I will never go back.

Extremely pleasant place to eat. Great for groups. Fairly popular. Open concept with efficient service. The Blackened Ahi Tuna with Mac and Cheese, delicious! Definitely coming back! Menu is very fun! Extremely clean establishment. Thank you! I'm coming back with friends next time lol!

BLT and slaw. That coleslaw had that southern drawl.

The Fishing Pig was absolutely a great way to spend an afternoon with friends. The BLT Club sandwich with extra mayo on toast with candied bacon was smoky, sweet, and honey glaze was a surprise. I usually don't do sweet bacon, but this was crispy. The heirloom tomatoes were ripe, round, and juicy (I love tomatoes). The home made coleslaw was lite on mayo but heavy on cabbage, diced carrots, apple cider vinegar, and crunch. I was impressed by the fresh collard greens which were well seasoned, not too salty, and definitely Southern. Don't tell anyone but I added hot sauce to my collard greens. Great food and friendly service.

The atmosphere was great, our waitress was the sweetest person ever, and the food was delicious. The Mac and cheese skillet was smacking and the crab dip/pretzel combo is my new app standard.

The sides* were amazing and the service at the bar was great! Sadly, the brisket and baby back ribs brought the whole meal down. We may try once more just in case it was an off night. * in addition to those pictures, I had friend green tomatoes and my husband had sweet potato fries and their smoky baked beans.

I'm glad I finally got to check this place out! It was nice that it was open on Labor Day. I went in with some friends and had a great time. There was minimal wait for a booth. Our server was Shannon and she was great with explaining the menu! My platter was delicious. My favorite was the chicken. If I had one wish it would be that the brisket was a little more warmed up. But the flavors were great. I recommend mixing the spicy sauce and Memphis barbecue sauce together.

A great place for large groups, obviously since we had 50 people or so there for dinner. And I have to commend the staff as they delivered great customer service and happy attitudes! I ordered the shrimp po boy and this thing was no boy at all. It was the size of an ogre! There was probably 12 pieces of fried shrimp laying on probably a foot long piece of bread. But it's hard to call this a sandwich because it was all fork and knife to get this in my mouth. Super delicious and great flavor all around. I loved the crispy batter and sauce drizzled over. I would definitely share this next time.

This place is a gem in the Norfolk area. That food was amazing. Dining experience was nice as well. It was clean and our server was amazing. The ribs, and brisket were so good. The portion sizes are good too. Can't wait to come back when I'm VA again!

The appetizers were the highlight of our meal. We really enjoyed the fried pickles and the hush puppies with the sweet butter. Our main courses were not good at all. My husband got the ribs and he had a hard time eating them. I ordered the pulled pork and it was dry and cold. It was a little busy when we got there so we did have to wait about 15-20 minutes. Their waiting area is not great. The chairs were not comfortable and it was super close to the door which kept bringing in cold air. The host could have been a little more inviting but our waitress was nice and quick to get our orders and food out.

The food is amazing here! They appeared a little short staffed, it was a Sunday so I kinda get it. Overall this is somewhere I'd recommend and be back when visiting.the menu is plentiful with so many options to choose from. Everything tastes "homemade" and delicious. The service was a little off as I mentioned they appeared to be short staffed. Even with the short staff our waitress and others were very attentive and responsive to anything needed. We had the chicken tacos, Bang Bang shrimp, rib platter, fried chicken, hush puppies and meat platter all of which were "deelish". The alcoholic beverages were a bit dull, tasty but you aren't going to get any kind of buzz with the "pretty" drinks here. Cheers to the Fishing Pig!

So drink wise this is a nice spot. Service was excellent. A lot of young people, reminded me of a college hangout. The food was okay, nothing to write home about. I had Catfish and Brisket. The fried Catfish was great, the brisket was awful. Brisket was dry, not warm, and way overcooked. It was slices of grey dry meat. The sauce couldn't even save it. Still had a good time here. They have a great selection of craft beer. And the service is top notch.

Came here with a group as we were driving from outer banks to DC. The warehouse vibe was chill and it was fun to read their story on the menu. I thought my bbq was a bit tough and wasn't able to finish it, but liked trying a bite of my friend's catfish. Overall, not super impressed with the food, but service was good, portions were good, and price was budget friendly. Remember that they auto-include gratuity for large parties (which I forgot to check while I was in a daze)!

Took my girls for a girls day. The restaurant itself was great.

I have been here several times to pick up food, but this was my first time actually going inside to order. The line was long around lunchtime, but it moved quickly. It is fast casual style, so you walk down the line choosing what you want and then pay at the register. I honestly had no idea that was how it worked before, so I was prepared to wait a while. I was pleasantly surprised at how efficient everything was. I was in and out much faster than expected. While putting my order together, the man helping me handed me a sample rib over the counter. I am a very socially awkward person and do not handle unexpected moments very gracefully, so I probably reacted a little awkwardly. That part was on me. The rib was GOOD though. He was very kind about my reaction and even handed me a napkin. The whole staff was friendly, asking how my week was going and checking in to make sure everyone was happy. Even though it was busy, they clearly care about customer service. The food was great. The garlic and green onion sausage had so much flavor, and the bananamisu was the perfect sweet finish. I originally went in hoping to order the BBQ oxtail, but they were sold out within two hours of opening, which honestly says a lot about how good they must be. I had also gone the day before around 7 PM and they had already closed because they were sold out for the day. Just a heads up that they do close early if they run out of food. Overall, great food, friendly staff, and quick service. I will definitely be back and hopefully I will finally catch the oxtail next time.

I had literally just had pizza the night before at another event, so I wasn't planning on getting more, but she insisted I try it. I'm so glad I did. I'm not usually someone who goes for hot honey or anything spicy, but this pizza was incredible. The crust was perfectly cooked, the dough had great texture, and the balance between the sweetness of the honey and the pepperoni was surprisingly addictive. This is not my first time at this store, but overall they have been weaker than others, so I kept pocketing reviews. That term "pocketing" is used by review writers that they will not write due to a negative experience, or want to visit again. This is probably my 4th, or 5th visit since they opened over 6 years ago. The business is tucked away in a parking lot off I64 and North Hampton beside Chick Fil A. So you must snake around the lot. Once you arrive there is plenty of parking. I was immediately taken back by the amount of trash in the lot, especially one particular pile that looked freshly dumped. The footprint of this Mission is smaller than others, for that matter smaller than Virginia Beach around 8 miles away. The size seems correct for the amount of business they receive. I entered the store on a weekday around 12:30 PM. I noticed trash on their patio too! My instincts were to turn around and leave. I immediately alerted the manager of the trash. He was busy preparing a major catering order. He did not thank me, he did not utter a word. He rolled his eyes. I specifically came to Mission with it being National Peach Cobbler Day. I absolutely adore Missions peach cobbler. I ordered a pulled port lunch with green beans that comes with corn bread. I added a peach cobbler. I was not asked if military, which they provide a discount. They ALWAYS ask, first time they have not. So ok, no discount today. I respect the mission of the business to support military and first responders. The staff clearly did not want to be there, no smile no enthusiasm when I exclaimed it's National Peach Cobbler Day and yours rocks! This was the first time I've ever encountered staff at Mission like that. They were not busy, so I expected almost immediate turn around. Even when busy the Mission staff are like Ninjas. It comes out in minutes. So I waited. Order up, no smoke by staff #2. Or is it #3 because the manager sure never smiled. I found a seat. The dining room was pretty empty and clean. Dug into my lunch and the pulled pork is a favorite and was great! The green beans dry, the cornbread not edible and worse of all the peach cobbler not as good, the breading was dry. I asked another staff if they had fresh cornbread. Another staff brought out two center pieces, she was friendly but no apologies. It was still dry and not edible. This staff never did another check unfortunately. If she had I would have reported my overall dissatisfaction with the meal. Upon walking out I could not help myself. I began picking up trash on the patio with a nearby can to easily dispose of. What seemed obvious is this. They had more than enough staff. Their resources were being strained because a major catering order that had all hands on deck. It seemed apparent this was the priority. I did notice the like of trash was picked up, but nearby trash let untouched, that's just lazy! Later in the evening I got very sick, of course it's unknown why with having a dinner meal as a possible culprit too. So 50/50 chance its Mission. I will never return to the Norfolk Mission again and fully believe corporate needs to step in to thoroughly look into items I've outlined. I will continue to support Mission BBQ. Again this hurts to write. 1.5 rounding up because I can bring myself to a 1 star. I feel like I've been ripped off from $18+
