This restaurant advertises itself as "gluten friendly" which inadvertently awkward. That's like saying you're "STD friendly" because that's not something anyone ever asks for, I hope. We've eaten here before and it was a good experience. I ordered "safe" and genuinely enjoyed the meal. We stopped in on a weekend visit, and I asked about the gluten free pancakes. The server immediately explained the pancakes were cooked on the same grill as regular, which would make it a hard pass. My husband, who owns a conference and event management company asked if they could make the pancakes in a "clean pan" on the grill. She asked the kitchen, and they agreed. So, I got to have really outstanding gf pancakes with banana slices and it was Christmas on a plate. This alone guarantees I'll be back and will recommend this to others. On the flip side, the scrambled eggs were rubbery and the apple chicken sausage tasted like a depressed half smoke that gave up on life at a young age. The syrup looked and tasted watered down. Asked for a tea refill and they just added hot water. No additional lemon slice or tea bag. The takeaway bag doesn't even fit the boxes. My family and I visited this restaurant for brunch on February 28th. We ordered a variety of drinks as well as entrees. The pineapple berry agua fresca was absolutely tasty and refreshing. Everyone enjoyed their food. Each dish had a good portion size. Besides the drink mentioned above, some of our favorites included the cajun shrimp & crawfish omelette, the apple crunch French toast, and the shrimp and grits. We had two mishaps. The Hendricks Hurricane drink was not mixed appropriately; there were clumps of coconut floating around in it giving the appearance of spoiled milk, and it also did not taste good, so we had to return it. Secondly, I ordered my omelette without the andouille sausage as I am allergic to pork. Unfortunately, as I was eating my omelette, I happened to see that the middle had a few pieces of sausage in it. I informed the server of the situation. She handled it quickly, very professionally, and was proactive in providing a resolution. The manager also came over to apologize for the situation and ensure that the resolution was adequate. I was highly impressed with their Customer Service. I felt that they genuinely valued me as a customer and wanted to make sure that the situation was adequately rectified. This was truly appreciated. Came for brunch after church. It wasn't packed so we were seated quickly near the bar area. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles with the tenders in their buffalo. I got the brown egg biscuit sandwich with fruit and a side of gumbo. Our server who was also the bar tender asked my husband if he wanted the tenders on top of his waffle bc the sauce would make the waffle soggy. He asked for the tenders in the side. I asked for the gravy for my sandwich on the side. When our order came out the chicken tenders were on top of the waffle. When we asked the server who brought the food out for another waffle they advised they would have to check with our specific server. She came over and advised another waffle would be out soon because she did notate the tenders should've on the side. When the waffle finally came, my husband had to go over to the bar area to ask for syrup and butter because the server was preoccupied at the bar, even though it wasn't busy. Tried talking to the waitress to get a kids order in early while we adults were still trying to decided. The $5 pancakes were so tiny and luke warm. My MIL also got the fritter. I'd say the fritter had a yummy flavor and was filling - a 8/10. The sausage that came with it was delicious - 9/10. Beignets were hot but hard, 6/10. My son had difficulty eating them and I had to cut them. We asked about the tiny pancakes and she said if we ordered them differently then they would have been normal size (same price) but because we added them to the meal, they are tiny (ie they were trash). Traditional meal for what you get for the cost of $20, totally not worth it- 4/10. My mother in law tried talking to the waitress and while she was mid sentence the waitress walked off. I was absolutely thrilled when I found out this new breakfast/brunch spot was open in the Hilltop area. Since we were close by on a Friday afternoon, we just had to stop in and try it out. I decided on the Shrimp & Grits with a 1/2 order of the Biscuit Beignets and my daughter created her own omelette (which came with potatoes and toast) with a 1/2 order of pancakes. The Biscuit Beignets were served first and I loved them! They were covered in a generous amount of powdered sugar which made them pretty sweet but they were really good. The Shrimp & Grits weren't bad but they had a strong Worcestershire-like taste to them that was a bit off putting. I did add some salt, pepper and hot sauce and it definitely helped. My daughter enjoyed her omelette and the pancakes were absolutely delicious. We did order a mocktail and a mimosa and they both were great, very refreshing. Overall, I will definitely be returning back to try the other items. I love the modern rustic decor, it definitely gives the restaurant a unique feel. So friendly and polite and easily able to answer menu questions and make suggestions. We chose a range of items and everyone was happy with their choices. -House coffee - very good and hot and fresh - served in an adorable themed mug -Blueberry, Lemon, Ricotta pancakes served with eggs and sausage. -Veggie Omelette -Make Your Own Biscuit (house-made) with bacon, egg, cheese and fruit. -Half order beignets (4) Everything was very good - hubs loved the beignets. My pancakes were fluffy and delicious and my mom's omelette was HUGE in portion size and she enjoyed it. The inside is spacious, updated, and clean with a very large bar seating area as well. I liked it for the most part taste wise but I felt that it was expensive for it being cinnamon rolls that seemed just like Pillsbury ones. But it did taste good with the fresh berries. I really loved the flavor of their homemade sausage patties. My partner got an omelette and said it was good. The potatoes and their gravy were underwhelming. We started off with drinks- salted caramel cold brew for me and margarita for my babe. Both were great. Last time I ordered the butter pecan cold brew. I think I like the salted caramel better. I ordered the lobster and Brie omelette and it is definitely my favorite omelette. My fiancé ordered the madri gras omelette and my daughter ordered the traditional breakfast. Not the greatest service. Walked in and sat at the bar. There was two people at the bar. Bartender didn't say hello I said hi how are you doing? She actually responded. I said can I get a glass of water and a coffee and check out a menu. I received the water never got my coffee. Never got the menu and they were literally making drinks right in front of me the entire time I was there. Total of about 10 mins. I Bartended and managed restaurants for years. I checked in with the host when we got there and they had no electronic waitlist and just wrote my name down as if I was a walk in. The manager told me "you still have to put your name on this list ". I felt like telling him, that is not the purpose of a waitlist and that's not how it works. So then he told us it was only a 15 minute wait only to find that he told everyone that as they walked in! We ended up waiting over 35 minutes and then finally sat down and the waitress was very kind and took our order right away. She did which was great. Then another roughly 30 mins went by before our food came. One dish was incorrect so she had to take it back. At this point I had waited over an hour from the time we ordered food to eat. Other tables that ordered after us received their food before us. I have waitressed for many years and if my food takes over an hour it should be comped. Now to the good part, the spiked cold brew was delicious and my dad enjoyed his omelette. He said it was flavorful with the chorizo and the salsa was good on it. I liked the crab in my benedict but I think the Cajun benedict sauce would've been better with shrimp. I had the Sunrise Spinach Scrambler with country potatoes, a biscuit instead of an English muffins, and added a 2 stack of buttermilk pancakes! The food was delicious! My only complaint would be the pancakes were really dry.. seemed almost overcooked.
