My first visit to Citrus was such a pleasant experience, and it instantly became one of those places I knew I'd return to whenever I'm back in the area. From the moment I walked in, I loved the atmosphere. The restaurant had such a bright, fresh, and welcoming energy. I visited on the first day of spring, and honestly, the colorful interior perfectly matched the feeling of the new season. The vibrant décor and overall ambiance made the space feel uplifting, cozy, and full of life without being overwhelming. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered a vegan bowl with vegan sausage, fresh avocado, quinoa, and a stir-fried mix of peppers and onions, and everything was seasoned and prepared perfectly. We stopped by Citrus for a wonderful outdoor Saturday brunch. We primarily stopped by Citrus because it was near our hotel, and the patio is dog-friendly. First, the service was absolutely wonderful. At no point during our meal, did we ever have to wonder the whereabouts of our waitress, which hilarious (BTW). Also, she did a wonderful job explaining the specials and providing recommendations on what to have...and importantly what to drink. The restaurant has a huge variety of breakfast dishes, so I think everyone should be able to find something that they would like. Personally, I went with a seafood omelette (I forget what it was actually called and I'm too lazy to look it up). I was quite pleased to see that the omelette was jammed packed with seafood. Relative to the area, I thought the prices were fair. Since we arrived pretty early on a Saturday, we did not have to wait for a table. Or maybe, we didn't have to wait because we had a reservation. If we stay at the same hotel for our next Va. Beach visit, we definitely will return to Citrus for breakfast/brunch. read more

Came here after a team outing nearby to grab some brunch. I haven't been here yet and was excited to finally put a check next to this spot on my list. The space was inviting with lots of seating as expected since it's such a popular establishment. The server was fast and friendly and open to offering us suggestions. I ordered a seasonal cocktail which was ok. I also ordered the citrus pancakes which were pretty yummy. I ordered grits as well but they were forgotten so I just said never mind on those as I tried someone else's and wasn't a huge fan. The food was solid but did not blow me away. Initially came on Sunday for brunch and the wait was only 15 minutes. After we got seated I got the crab cake Benedict ($22) and that came out in about 20 minutes. My family and I went to Citrus for brunch. There was a 10 minute wait to be seated, and the restaurant texts you when they're ready to seat you. The restaurant is spacious and even with a party seated next to us, we weren't crowded and could have a conversation. Once seated, our friendly server took our drink order and gave us plenty of time to decide on our meal choices. I ordered the Spinach and Feta omelette with egg whites and added bacon, with Rosemary Parmesan Home Fries and wheat toast. My son ordered the Spanish omelette with grits and a biscuit. My husband ordered The Beckner with home fries. The food was excellent! The food at Citrus was so phenomenal that I had to come back and try this location this time right before my flight out! Spoiler alert: also amazing! I came with my parents for Sunday brunch about an hour before they close, and the place was buzzing. Originally I had budgeted time to wait in line, but this location is so large and they're super efficient serving food here, so we were able to grab one of the last indoor tables. I decided to be a bit healthier this day and ordered a Mediterranean Power Bowl special. Wow, I wish everything healthy could taste this good... the blend of egg, vegetables, and seasoning was so delicious. However, my friend's loaded BLT was not to their liking. "Not enough bacon and stale bread." We did not say anything to the server to give them the chance to correct it, so I still give this establishment a 5 star rating. I believe it would have been corrected based on how management was immersed into the workplace. She was collecting empty glasses, bussing tables, bringing food out, checking in with staff and guests. A 3 dollar mimosa and an Irish Wake Up Call cocktail My wife ordered: cinnamon bun pancakes with hash browns; also a 3 dollar mimosa and an espresso martini Visually the food itself was magazine worthy. Presentation was on point. Smelled absolutely intoxicating. The taste? Holy Jesus. I took a bite of my chicken and I felt my whole body go into shock. My palate was having a war with my brain. This was without a doubt the best breakfast I've ever had in my life. No exaggeration. I thought I was having a panic attack it was that good. We sat there and waited, while we watched them clear off tables for people that came in AFTER us. I can understand if they take reservations and they came in for their table, but to sit there and watch them clear tables off for 4 couples/families after me and I'm STILL sitting there waiting was ridiculous! I asked when will we be seated and she goes to say well there will be a 20-25 minute wait. No one came to explain further about why we were still sitting waiting while people after us were given a table before us especially AFTER we sat there watching them clean tables for those guests. Citrus is such a solid brunch/breakfast spot and we stopped by for brunch around 12:45pm on a Friday and we were seated right away. The lighting and atmosphere matches the name - light and fresh with yellow and oranges in the decor - very inviting! My dad is a regular and the waitress was really sweet and knew his order right away. I've been several times with him as well as with my sisters a few times and each experience has been really good. I like their chicken salad wrap with their home made french fries. My dad gets the lynnhaven which has all the classic breakfast items - pancake, eggs, sausage, and grits. Today I had the Spanish Omelette, added cheddar (it comes with American, but can you ever have too much cheese in an omelette?). The hash browns were perfect. I added a side of avocado. It was so delicious. ​ ​Citrus has one of the largest varieties of alcoholic drinks I have seen for breakfast and lunch-only restaurants. There are nearly four dozen drinks, with roughly half being mimosas. ​‍ ​ ​I had one of their mimosas... the Mermaid mimosa!
