My first visit to Citrus was such a pleasant experience, and it instantly became one of those places I knew I'd return to whenever I'm back in the area. From the moment I walked in, I loved the atmosphere. The restaurant had such a bright, fresh, and welcoming energy. I visited on the first day of spring, and honestly, the colorful interior perfectly matched the feeling of the new season. The vibrant décor and overall ambiance made the space feel uplifting, cozy, and full of life without being overwhelming. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered a vegan bowl with vegan sausage, fresh avocado, quinoa, and a stir-fried mix of peppers and onions, and everything was seasoned and prepared perfectly. The ingredients tasted fresh, the bowl was filling without feeling too heavy, and the flavors blended together so well. It's one of those meals you keep thinking about after you leave. I also want to mention the staff because the hospitality truly added to the experience. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made the visit feel even more enjoyable. Overall, this was a great first experience, beautiful atmosphere, flavorful food, and excellent service. This is definitely going on my list of go-to restaurants whenever I'm visiting Virginia Beach again. Highly recommend if you enjoy: * Fresh and flavorful food * Vegan-friendly options * Bright, aesthetically pleasing spaces * Relaxed brunch or lunch spots * Restaurants with warm hospitality read more

We stopped by Citrus for a wonderful outdoor Saturday brunch. We primarily stopped by Citrus because it was near our hotel, and the patio is dog-friendly. First, the service was absolutely wonderful. At no point during our meal, did we ever have to wonder the whereabouts of our waitress, which hilarious (BTW). Also, she did a wonderful job explaining the specials and providing recommendations on what to have...and importantly what to drink. The restaurant has a huge variety of breakfast dishes, so I think everyone should be able to find something that they would like. Personally, I went with a seafood omelette (I forget what it was actually called and I'm too lazy to look it up). I was quite pleased to see that the omelette was jammed packed with seafood. Relative to the area, I thought the prices were fair. Since we arrived pretty early on a Saturday, we did not have to wait for a table. Or maybe, we didn't have to wait because we had a reservation. If we stay at the same hotel for our next Va. Beach visit, we definitely will return to Citrus for breakfast/brunch. read more

Decent Brunch, But Miss the Old Menu. I stopped by Citrus for brunch recently and noticed they've changed up their menu. The food and overall experience were just OK this time around. It's still a nice, reliable spot to grab breakfast, but the new changes didn't quite hit the mark for me. read more

Came here after a team outing nearby to grab some brunch. I haven't been here yet and was excited to finally put a check next to this spot on my list. The space was inviting with lots of seating as expected since it's such a popular establishment. The server was fast and friendly and open to offering us suggestions. I ordered a seasonal cocktail which was ok. I also ordered the citrus pancakes which were pretty yummy. I ordered grits as well but they were forgotten so I just said never mind on those as I tried someone else's and wasn't a huge fan. The food was solid but did not blow me away. I would come here again if asked but wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more

Initially came on Sunday for brunch and the wait was only 15 minutes. After we got seated I got the crab cake Benedict ($22) and that came out in about 20 minutes. The eggs were cooked perfectly and that hollandaise sauce was amazing! It had just the right amount of citrus to cream ratio. Crabs cakes were solid, not the best but still good! Staff/service was a bit slow at times, may have been understaffed. Overall I had a good time here! Food(50%): 8.0 Staff/service(25%): 6.0 Value(25%): 7.0 Overall: 7.3/10 read more

Well this was SUPER disappointing. This used to by my spot! This time the portion size was lacking as well as the flavor. I ordered the corned beef hash and received about a 4th of what I'm used to and it tasted nothing like it normally does or maybe I should say used to. I can't believe this is actually the portion size. I was really looking forward to this meal and now I don't think I'd come back. So sad, this was truly my fav. read more

Atmosphere is amazing! Worth every penny. Ask for signature Bloody Mary and the she crab soup is to die for! Service is very attentive and wholesome. Fantastic! Amateur hour! Waited over an hour for food, asked the waitress who stated the kitchen "ran out of paper so they never received your order". Completely unacceptable. Ambiance, if you like hearing people screaming at each other in the kitchen, this is your place! Eggs weren't cooked properly, come to think of it, they have never been cooked properly in past visits. Was only compensated 20% for the lost order. We will never waste our time or money again at this establishment. read more

It was okay, just okay. The food is so so basic, nothing spectacular at all. Service takes a LONG time. The restaurant itself isn't that clean or organized. read more

Stopped by on a Sunday morning, and even though the place was buzzing with energy, we were seated right away, always a great start! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, though not the most recent décor the place is nice and clean. The menu has all the brunch classics you could want--fluffy pancakes, hearty omelets, rich eggs Benedict, and, of course, an impressive selection of mimosas and other brunch cocktails. I decided on the citrus pancakes, and they were absolutely delicious. The sauce was bursting with flavor, and the combination of pineapple and banana worked perfectly. The portion was so generous I couldn't even finish my plate (which says a lot!). I paired it with a classic mimosa, and it was just right, refreshing, crisp, and the perfect brunch companion. Beyond the food, the service was excellent. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. It's always nice to be in a place where you feel genuinely taken care of. Another plus- the kids' menu had great options, making it a fantastic spot for families as well. Overall, this place checks all the boxes for a great brunch experience: delicious food, great drinks, welcoming atmosphere, and top-notch service. Can't wait to come back and try more from the menu! read more

Great food and great service! Wonderful way to start the day with great food, great service, and a wonderful atmosphere. After being seated, we were seen too quickly for drink orders. After that, ordering was quick and easy. The menu gave great breakfast options and everything was prepared well. As a plus for our kids, the food looked just like all the pictures we looked up on Yelp so presentation was on point. All in all, a wonderful eating experience that I would whole heartedly recommend to anyone. read more

We were seated quickly a large booth for just the two of us. I had a large latte with a cute design and a regular coffee that came with what seemed like unlimited refills! Ordered chicken and waffles that was a large piece of chicken breast. Also ordered eggs Benedict which were perfectly cooked. Our server was very sweet and checked on us the perfect amount. read more

The Citrus is one of the breakfast places in the area that are open early (6 am for N Great Neck and 7 am for W Great Neck). It's perfect for us when we want to skip our usual breakfast routines (aka breakfast chains or eating at home). The best part is that they serve Eggs Benedict. Food: * The Citrus Reuben is delicious, and the portion is just right for breakfast/brunch. * Lump Crab Benedict has a good amount of crab on the patty, plus how can I say no to "on the house" onions and peppers to top the hashbrowns? I just wish that the patty and the hash brown is crispier and not too soggy. Ambiance: This restaurant is bright and welcoming. Price: With suitable serving sizes, their food is affordable. Service: Maybe we came in too early during the day, and our server was barely present, but she was accommodating. If you want an early breakfast, you should put Citrus on your list. read more

Went to this place for breakfast with a friend on her suggestion she said she had been there in the past and it was okay. Immediately upon entering you could tell that the lobby was not clean it was just okay we were Sat by a lady or a girl in shorts short shorts not appropriate for any restaurant I don't care what it is and then greeted by a server with dirty fingernails dirty hands dirty clothes. And that was just the start when you open up the menu and you see the prices you expect a lot more like a clean restaurant a professional server and possibly professional Cooks. But that is not what you will get you will get okay food and a very high price and a something as simple as cooking bacon is hard for them. This would never be a place I would go what a joke. read more

My family and I went to Citrus for brunch. There was a 10 minute wait to be seated, and the restaurant texts you when they're ready to seat you. The restaurant is spacious and even with a party seated next to us, we weren't crowded and could have a conversation. Once seated, our friendly server took our drink order and gave us plenty of time to decide on our meal choices. I ordered the Spinach and Feta omelette with egg whites and added bacon, with Rosemary Parmesan Home Fries and wheat toast. My son ordered the Spanish omelette with grits and a biscuit. My husband ordered The Beckner with home fries. The food was excellent! The vegetables in the omelettes were fresh, the potatoes were nicely seasoned and not overdone, the breads were nicely toasted and crisp, and the biscuit was perfectly crumbly. Service was friendly and attentive and taking care of the check was easy with the ability to tap to pay. One of the best local restaurants in Va Beach! read more

Pit stop on what seemed to be a tour of VB breakfast spots. Missed this when I'd come visit when I was younger. I had the grilled chicken breakfast sandwich. It was served on a sweet potato biscuit which I daydreamed the rest of the day. The home fries were okay. I'd pick something else. The server was a nice girl. She was fairly attentive. A bit too loud with each of her tables though. Never thought I'd say that. The feel was simple and to the point. Clean restaurant. Cute outdoor space for when you want to do that. while the food was amazing as always and our waitress was wonderful, the hostess was not friendly or welcoming at all. she greeted us at the door with a frown and a snarl and then gave us not one but 2 rude remarks when we asked to move spots because we had a grandma with us and she is hard of hearing. while we kindly asked to shift our seats to not be in the corner where all the sound travels, she rolled her eyes and then proceeded to throw the menus down. We also observed her being disrespectful and rude to other customers as well while they were treating her with nothing but kindness and respect. would come back, but would try to avoid her at any cost, because that was not a good start to the morning. read more

The food at Citrus was so phenomenal that I had to come back and try this location this time right before my flight out! Spoiler alert: also amazing! I came with my parents for Sunday brunch about an hour before they close, and the place was buzzing. Originally I had budgeted time to wait in line, but this location is so large and they're super efficient serving food here, so we were able to grab one of the last indoor tables. I decided to be a bit healthier this day and ordered a Mediterranean Power Bowl special. Wow, I wish everything healthy could taste this good... the blend of egg, vegetables, and seasoning was so delicious. And then of course had to get a sweet potato biscuit on the side for myself, which was incredible as always. My parents very much enjoyed their platters of biscuits and gravy. I wish I could remember the name of our server; we chatted briefly, and he was super nice with recommendations for my parents as well. In any case, great vibes here, the colors and vibrancy inside really stood out to me, felt like every table inside was happy and enjoying their food! read more

Citrus is such a cute place to have brunch! There is a long list of different mimosas you can order. I got the Bay Mimosa, which was made with pineapple and cranberry juices. It was refreshing. While their menu had a lot to offer that sounded good, their Mediterranean Breakfast Bowl special was exactly what I was looking for with eggs, potatoes, mushrooms, spinach, and goat cheese. We had a 30-45 minute wait time but sat in 25 minutes. Our first server grabbed our drink order and then another server took over. (Probably a shift change, totally understandable) Both servers were friendly. The building was full but it wasn't loud. The floors were dry even though it was raining and the bathrooms were clean. Our mimosas were absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the mango cooler mimosa. The food took a reasonable amount of time to come out. My crab cake eggs Benedict was cooked to perfection. However, my friend's loaded BLT was not to their liking. "Not enough bacon and stale bread." We did not say anything to the server to give them the chance to correct it, so I still give this establishment a 5 star rating. I believe it would have been corrected based on how management was immersed into the workplace. She was collecting empty glasses, bussing tables, bringing food out, checking in with staff and guests. I had another great experience and I again highly recommend this location. read more

Holy mother of mercy. I can't begin to describe the excitement I feel writing this review. Some will say it's overrated, some will say it's justified. A few weeks ago my wife and I came here at opening for breakfast. I have never been here before but she has, a long time ago. Their menu had a lot of great variety for breakfast and brunch items: pancakes, omelettes, sandwiches, etc. It was a two page menu, front and back, which is a great sign for quality control and consistency. Anyways... We get seated by a lovely hostess and our waiter was a sweetheart. Very helpful, smiling (especially for 7am even I don't smoke that early), knowledgeable about the menu, answered every question. Name escapes me but I would know them when I see them. The place itself was very nice. A small bar, booth seating, bright decor. Very welcoming and warm, like home. Now would the food live up to all of this? Short answer: YES. Long answer: read on. I order the following: fried chicken and waffles with two scrambled eggs; two chicken sausage links on the side just to try. A 3 dollar mimosa and an Irish Wake Up Call cocktail My wife ordered: cinnamon bun pancakes with hash browns; also a 3 dollar mimosa and an espresso martini Visually the food itself was magazine worthy. Presentation was on point. Smelled absolutely intoxicating. The taste? Holy Jesus. I took a bite of my chicken and I felt my whole body go into shock. My palate was having a war with my brain. This was without a doubt the best breakfast I've ever had in my life. No exaggeration. I thought I was having a panic attack it was that good. The waiter and my wife were both laughing at me because of it which is appropriate because I've never felt that kind of euphoria before. Out of body experience doesn't begin to describe it. Everything on both our plates was homemade and fresh. I didn't even want to finish my food because I was afraid I'll miss it. I don't expect anyone else to have this experience but if you haven't been to Citrus before, you'll understand what you're getting into if you do. Everyone has different taste buds and all and it's probably not for everyone, but I absolutely love this place and I can't wait to go again. We did go again a few days back with my in-laws this time. Same exact thing happened to me again. So we'll see what happens a third time read more

Please bring this place to Maryland! {Prayer Hands} I came to Citrus with family while being in Va Beach for a wedding for only 24 hours. I had to knock off 1 of my bookmarks while here and so glad I did. We came on a Sat morning and it was so much on the menu but I knew I wanted seafood. Thankfully they had a seafood omelette that was full of crab meat & shrimp topped with hollandaise. My family ordered bacon, eggs, pancakes & hash browns. I wanted to explore the mimosa menu so bad but had a train to catch a couple hours later. That alone will bring me back because they have a vast menu of breakfast, lunch & mimosa options. Citrus is such a solid brunch/breakfast spot and we stopped by for brunch around 12:45pm on a Friday and we were seated right away. The lighting and atmosphere matches the name - light and fresh with yellow and oranges in the decor - very inviting! My dad is a regular and the waitress was really sweet and knew his order right away. I've been several times with him as well as with my sisters a few times and each experience has been really good. I like their chicken salad wrap with their home made french fries. My dad gets the lynnhaven which has all the classic breakfast items - pancake, eggs, sausage, and grits. My husband got the grilled chicken and bacon sandwich. All the food was quick to arrive at our table and very tasty. We'll definitely be back! read more

Service was fine, server was nice and mostly accurate. I'll be up front, I am so offended by this visit I am writing this the morning waking up, 3 days after I had the actual meal. The food was possibly the worst breakfast I've ever had. This is a cut rate, worse than waffle house quality with a high price point. And if you're saying "oH WaFfLe HoUse iS gReAt WhAt dO YoU mEaN?" unironically, you deserve to go here and pay double. Terrible food and the wait is always long. I've had MANY meals here at this location and always leave pleased. Service is great, the food is flavorful and the atmosphere is casual. Today I had the Spanish Omelette, added cheddar (it comes with American, but can you ever have too much cheese in an omelette?). The hash browns were perfect. I added a side of avocado. My colleague had the Mediterranean Bowl, which looked yummolicious, and she said it was, too! The only annoying thing is they won't sit you unless your party is present, but I didn't wait long. Visiting Virginia Beach's Citrus, a place I try to visit whenever I am in the area. It has been voted the best brunch in Virginia Beach since 2012. What I did try was the Jumbo Lump Crab Benedict. There was plenty of REAL lump crabmeat; I had my two eggs poached hard with the buttery lemon taste of the Hollandaise sauce. It was so delicious. Citrus has one of the largest varieties of alcoholic drinks I have seen for breakfast and lunch-only restaurants. There are nearly four dozen drinks, with roughly half being mimosas. ‍ I had one of their mimosas... the Mermaid mimosa! The pretty blue color is due to Blue Curacao and Pineapple Juice. The only other mimosa I enjoyed more was Pineapple Upside mimosa. read more
