So many people recommended this place to me and I was unimpressed. I ordered delivery, my food arrived quickly and hot. The country fried steak/gravy was perfect and the fried eggs were standard. My issue was with the home fries, many of them were raw and others were almost burnt. The grits were the greatest offense, they were bland and flavorless. Not a speck of salt, pepper, or butter on them. I won't be eating here again, breakfast food is super easy to make and season so receiving this bland meal was upsetting.
We have been coming here since it opened and was at its 1st location. Good food and service always. It's simple dinner food. It's large enough that we have never waited for a table since it moved to the current location.
After sitting in the airport and morning flight being canceled, we were hungry and looked up breakfast spots close by. There is parking right out front of the restaurant and I believe on the side. The outside appearance is questionable but we were up for the adventure and gave it a chance. The ambiance is like ol school diner. The inside is old but very clean. The one waitress was extremely nice and welcoming. It's spacious with plenty of tables. There are a lot of menu options, so something for everyone. I ordered the veggie omelette which was huge and delicious. I couldn't eat it all. The home fries are seasoned and OMG, amazing! Everyone at the table talked about how good they were. Husband got hot chocolate and it was the biggest cup of hot chocolate I have seen in a restaurant. We walked out satisfied with full bellies.
Jesse's Place 2314 Ingleside Rd, Norfolk, VA 23513 A Perfect Double Cheeseburger! The Jesse's Burger is your American Double Cheeseburger classic, but served perfectly! Not too salty and not bland at all. The double melted cheese blended well with the tender meat patties which were never frozen. There was a right amount of salt and a Thousand Island Dressing which gave the all American classic a certain zest. Of course, I added some sweetness to this entrée with ketchup, but honestly, it did not need it. The onions were crispy, the lettuce tasted fresh, and the tomato was perfectly sliced and juicy while the bread was also soft and chewable. The fries were also very impressive because they were precisely sliced from an actual potato with some of the skin left on. It was easy to bite into and were very savory with that real potato flavor. I ended the meal with A La Mode which was an apple pie served with vanilla ice cream. Delicious! Jesse's Place is definitely my kind of place!
Home style breakfast. Biscuit was slightly dry. The waitress provided great service. Restaurant was clean and quiet. If you don't feel like cooking this is a nice diner to checkout.

On this particular lazy Sunday afternoon we were looking for a local spot in Norfolk to have a late breakfast. After a look on Yelp we decided on Jesse's because it is a centrally locates diner that serves breakfast until 3. Another bonus is that they have a breakfast buffet, but we'll get to that in a moment. The outside is slightly misleading. I had no idea it would be as roomy as it is on the inside. To say that they have plenty of seating is an understatement. The decor is most certainly old school and makes it cool spot to sit around and have a cup of coffee or tea. They even have a counter with stools that spin. Almost forgot to mention the fish tank, they have a fish tank. I called ahead to see if they were open and they were. Our waitress, who as it turns out is also the hostess, waitress, and cashier, greeted and seated us very quickly. Super excited to do some damage to the breakfast buffet but I did take a look at the menu just in case. I was informed that the buffet had just been demolished by a large table the left just before we came in, so there wasn't much left to be had. The waitress did say that the kitchen would make anything buffet item fresh for us. That was such a sweet gesture, especially considering how close it was to closing time. Just so you know the buffet typically has fruit, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, some form of breakfast potatoes, biscuits, sausage gravy, and grits. They also have a waffle maker so you can do up your own waffles (how cool). Ended up going with an order of biscuits and gravy with two eggs. My date went with the gyro and fries. Neither one of us were disappointed. The sausage gravy was delicious, it wasn't overly salty and had the perfect amount of sausage in it. I asked for the eggs to be scrambled hard and they were on point. My only complaint is that I asked for the hash browns to be crispy and they were a bit soggy, wasn't a big deal because I was only going to have a few bites of them. The gyro and fries looked like they should be on the cover of gyro magazine (if there were such a thing). When left with empty plates, full bellies, and our calendars open so we could schedule another visit.
I am on a mission to try restaurants I've never heard of before and thanks to Door Dash this is possible. I ordered stuffed French toast and Jesse's egg Benedict. The French toast was delicious and it was stuffed with strawberries and cream cheese which was a perfect flavor combination. I do think they should either top with strawberry sauce or send syrup but other than that it was great. The Benedict had crab meat and it was so good. This was my first time ever trying Benedict and I was not sorry I ordered it. The flavor medley was excellent and made me forget that I was having crab in the morning. I believe I will order breakfast again from here, different choices of course. From where I'm sitting this is a 4 star restaurant.
This is a favorite spot for me & my family. It's not a chain, which is great, and the staff is always great. I feel bad for not giving them a review sooner :( Especially when restaurants are having such a hard time keeping steady help and putting out good product. I took my mom there today. I had the Steak and Eggs meal (I was so hungry after my workout I didn't take a pic because it looked so yummy!). I ordered my steak rare and it was cooked perfectly, little charred on the outside, tender, very red and juicy on the inside. If it ain't still mooing, I don't want it! Haha. Had my eggs scrambled, with cheese and I chose the home fries vs. hash browns. I also had the choice of a biscuit or toast, but I passed on both. I usually get the Caribbean omelette, Chicken & Waffles or the Scrambled Egg Breakfast with all bacon, 'cause, you know, bacon makes you happy! I ate every bit of it. Delish!! Mom had the Hamburger Steak with mashed potatoes & gravy and House Salad. A little heavy on the gravy, but too much is always better than not enough, in my book! She enjoyed it all, it looked good! Our coffee cups were never empty and they were pretty busy around lunch hour. I was glad to see that. I hope this place continues to do good business because I like coming here and it's not a hike from my house. Check them out if you like mom& pop style places and always consider supporting our local spots!!!

Jesse's Place is located along Ingleside Rd. in Norfolk, VA. They aren't attached to a shopping area, but there are a few other businesses in the shopping area there. They are on the left corner of that shopping area. My visit here was on June 2, 2026. I don't normally go into this area of Norfolk. What transpired that day was that my mom had her cataract surgery nearby, and we wanted to look to have something for breakfast after that was done. I saw some good things about the place, so that's why we came here. We had gotten here just before 10 am. When I first came in and parked, from the outside, you would think that it might be something like a dive bar. This would not be the case at all. They are a breakfast, brunch, and lunch type of place. The place looks small from the outside, but it is much bigger than you think once you come inside. Once inside, it looked more like a large diner type of place. It was quite open inside. We were immediately greeted by Andrea and she said we could sit wherever we wanted to. The placemats on the table have advertisements on one side, and on the other side, it lists their daily specials, including a buffet on weekends. She didn't take long to come over to the table with menus and asked us what we wanted to drink. I stuck to my usual lemon water, while my mom got Pepsi (they have Pepsi products here). Since my mom just had the cataract surgery, it was hard for her to read the menu, so I helped her look at making a decision. It took us a little while after the drinks came out to choose, as there were lots of great items on the menu to choose from. After having some time to look over the menu, I decided to go with the French Toast Combo with Scrambled Eggs and Bacon. My mom decided to go with the Stuffed French Toast with Strawberries. After about ten minutes or so, the food came out to the table and looked really good. The French Toast was nice and fluffy, as well as hot. I don't use syrup on it, so butter worked just fine. The eggs and bacon were hot and good too. My mom really liked that Stuffed French Toast with Strawberries. The meals were definitely fulfilling. Overall, the food and service were great here. It was nice to have a place that feels and looks like a diner. Even though this place is quite a ways from where I live, I would definitely come back to try other foods on the menu, and maybe even the buffet some weekend. If you are in this area of Norfolk, this is a great place to go for breakfast, brunch or lunch. read more

Jesse's Place nails the classic diner vibe with clean, cozy booths, and genuinely great food. My husband's chipped beef came with potatoes so good I had to steal one, no regrets. I'd already eaten, so I just grabbed a side of fruit, but the menu had me eyeing the pancakes for next time. Service was warm and attentive and we even got to meet the chef, Jesse! Five for service! They were great. The food, I wish I could say the same. I totally dig the vibe of the place though! Really cool old 1960s '70s vibe. Like I said the staff was great! My hash browns were too salty. And the Benedict I got was in particularly good or bad. Really not much flavor at all. I do think I made a mistake by ordering any kind of eggs Benedict there. Bet if I got a burger or an omelette it probably would be really good! So I would say give this place the shot but definitely do not get any kind of egg Benedict! read more

I went to Jesse's Place with my friend yesterday, and honestly, it was an awesome experience! Their chicken and rice were on another level -- the chicken was super juicy and perfectly seasoned, and the rice was fluffy and full of flavor! The combination was just perfect! read more

WILL NEVER ORDER FROM HERE AGAIN. I'm really disappointed and angry in what I got and should've checked on here before ordering. We ordered through Grub Hub, and it was a complete disaster. Chicken Philly: barely any chicken and veggies. Fries were cold. Both burgers: cold, soggy bread, meat was dry. Fries were also cold and no condiments added to the burger as put in the order. Lamb gyro: lamb was extremely tough and cold. It tasted like leather. No condiments were given with all the orders we got that had fries. I don't do reviews often, but this place really made us upset and ruined our lunch. read more

I understand COVID has hit ppl hard but this is just unacceptable... I ordered catfish breakfast with fully loaded hash browns and scrambled eggs on DoorDash. This is what I got... I tried to eat it but some of the fish was undercooked. The bacon was rubbery and hash browns were mostly burnt. The only thing I was really able to eat was the scrambled eggs. I wouldn't have even let this leave my restaurant. This is ridiculous. Never again ! read more

Never had this place before. During these crazy times, it's given my girlfriend and I a chance to try out some different spots. Food was really good, very filling. The Meat Lover Is what I got. The home fries were delicious and everything was well done, nice and hot when it arrived. My hungry, hungry hippo girlfriend got a nice sized waffle with bacon. I recommend this spot if you are looking for some good breakfast different from ihop, Denny's, Village In. It didn't take long to arrive and their milkshakes are great as well. I checked out the reviews and pictures on yelp before I ordered, and the Meat lover is what stood out to me. Check out the pictures first for they have a nice selection from their menu. read more

I know Jesse's old location by memory so when I went there and saw that the entire place was on sale/lease, I immediately looked up their new address on their Facebook page. The new location now has an all you can eat breakfast. It still feels like home. Food is still great. I would recommend this place to all my brothers and sisters in the U.S. Navy. read more

Totally disappointed! I ordered for pickup through this app at 11:15 to be ready by 11:55 and my food wasn't ready until 12:30! A crab cake sandwich and fries! I got back to work and opened the box to a crab cake that was less than a quarter of an inch thick. Check the attached pictures for proof. I won't be coming back and this place is 4 minutes from my job! read more

Made the mistake of ordering in breakfast via Doordash. I ordered the salmon, hash browns, scrambled eggs and grits. My salmon was uncooked and there was raw bacon mixed in with it along with barely cooked hash browns as a side. I had to take the time to COOK my food once it arrived to my home. I will more than likely not be ordering again as It took the fun out of the whole door dash experience by wasting time and money. read more

Really great neighborhood diner. They have a really good breakfast in particular. They have a pretty extensive menu, with a variety of omelettes, eggs benedicts, pancake/waffles, and egg/meat combos. I had the scrapple, which was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside while moist on the inside. The over easy eggs were cooked perfect as well, nicely runny which were delicious with good rye toast. Everything else the others at the table ordred were good too. The eggs benedict had a perfectly poached egg. The link sausage is large and really flavorful. They make excellent pancakes and waffles as well. My little guy loved the blueberry dream waffle, which was topped with ice cream and the blueberry topping. The gyro omelette was also very good. This was our first try of the current location, after many at the previous one on Chesapeake Blvd. This one is much nicer, with plenty of space and parking, which was at a premium at the previous one. The inside is very nice, with booth, table, and counter seating avaliable. This is a great option for a classic breakfast in Norfolk!!! read more

I was invited with a friend for brunch after Sunday mass. My first impression, this is like a neighborhood diner where the staff knows their guests. As we settled in and ordered our food, I observed that most of the clientele are old couple, families and retired people... (yes! I wasn't mistaken). Don't get me wrong, I just adore the idea of family bonding which more likely the same. This place is very charming and homey. The food is average, nothing special but a home cooked meal that filled your stomach right. The service is superb. The staffs are very friendly and makes you feel at home. Surely, I will definitely come back and try new menu. read more
