#3/2020 Coming here has always been a pleasurable experience. Sometimes I do notice the servers appear to look overwhelmed but they've never exuded bad attitudes toward me and my party. Sometimes it takes awhile to flag someone down once seated but it's never been so bad that you'd have to get up and locate someone. I can't even count the number of times I've been in here. There has been several occasions when they were transitioning between seasonal menus and sometimes they don't have everything available to order yet. It doesn't bother me at all because their daily regular menu offers so much delicious options from lemon ricotta pancakes to their to-die-for sweet honey pecan salad. You can't ever go wrong. And their Million Dollar Bacon?! Uh... Yes, please!!!! Lots of parking, very spacious and modern inside (as is all their locations), and food is yummy. I'm the type of person who enjoys trying new things and oftentimes opt for the most delicious sounding seasonal dish. I tell myself, it's not here to stay so enjoy while you can! Morning juices change out even though my favorite Morning Meditation seems to be a constant. During my last visit we ordered Holey Doughnuts and wow. We were anticipating "yeah they're good, glad we got to try them once," but yo... holy cow. We found ourselves repeating over and over again, "this should always be on the menu! It's so goooooood!" No stars. Had lunch there today and went to pay with a $50 gift certificate given by my daughter and son-in-law last Christmas. Had not been to a First Watch in over a year. The cashier had a hard time processing the certificate and asked some man who I think was the manager to help. He called the number on the certificate and an automated massage stated the certificate was used in March 2023. No more discussion. I tried to tell him it was not used at all but he just rudely walked away. Why would I still have a $50 gift certificate if $45 had been used. It makes no sense. He basically called me a liar, without trying to determine why the automatic message said it was used. NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN. The manager should be ashamed of himself. read more

Enjoyed very much. Newer restaurant to the area. The decor is eclectic with a bit of historic feel complimented by novel and steampunk-like lighting additions. On our visit, we enjoyed the Sunday brunch type cuisine. Servers were still working through processes a bit but it did not detract from a very pleasant visit. Food was fairly priced for the area. And of the selections we chose, the platter size pancake certainly was a unique highlight. I opted for a sandwich which was tasty and well considered. Check the hours before a visit. This was a breakfast and lunch service restaurant with no dinner service as yet. Once they've nailed down any internal processes new business have to deal with, I suspect the popularity may lead them to seriously consider adding hours to host a dinner fare as well. Went here with some friends earlier this afternoon. The service was a little slow, but you have to understand that they only had two servers today (due to the inclement weather). Even so, our server was attentive, checked on us as often as he could, and got our orders and three separate receipts right. He also had a GREAT haircut. I should've asked him where he goes.... Anyway, I had "The Works," an omelet with several meats, onion, mushroom, onion, tomato, and cheese. It was phenomenal. The ingredients all tasted very fresh and clean, and made for an enjoyable meal. It came with a kale salad and a side of toast, both of which were good (even though kale isn't my jazz). The bottomless coffee is a big plus, and they leave the insulated metal coffee carafes at the table so you can pour yourself some more whenever you need. I also thought the pricing was good, I think between my coffee and my meal I paid around $17 before the tip. I definitely recommend checking this place out! read more

This new location happens to be along General Booth near the Red mill area.. this newly constructed complex is closely near the strawbridge shopping center. This restaurant is known to serve fresh, fast, breakfast all day menu. They cater to people looking for healthy options, and to meet the needs of those who have gluten allergies or sensitivities. First Watch is a franchise known through out the US. Closely another branch of First watch is in the Va Beach Lynnhaven location. Water and The Kale Tonic came quickly. The Kale Tonic was amazingly fresh... The service was just okay. They have been slightly busy. The Waitress seemed flustered initially. She seemed so much in a rush. That I could tell things haven't been going so well with service and the kitchen. Sadly, the main disappointment is the 40 minute wait on the food. We wanted to walk out but we wanted to give the food a benefit of a doubt. We waited for a regular traditional breakfast with sausage and eggs and toast. The sausage was plenty, but blackly overly charred:( [unimpressed] For cooking our food that long and the time it took them to cook it.. This was a surprise to know. The beauty of the place didn't make up for the fact that our patience was running thin and our food was mediocre. Truthfully my Salmon benedict with salad was, not memorable and Meh.. The salad leaves could've been more fresher.. They did forgot my dressing too. Well, they resolved it and gave it to me. The request wasn't hard to be granted immediately once I informed them. But really it didn't give me any exciting impression overall. Knowing the long time it took for food and Service wait time, was bad.. The uncrispy homemade potatoes and the black sausage apparently served in the traditional breakfast was a sad sight. The kitchen needs to be improved to make things work to release quality food. HANDS DOWN!!! IMPRESSED!!! Perfect spot for brunch! Everything was amazing even their watermelon juice. I usually don't eat my whole Belgium waffle but it was so light and fluffy, I couldn't resist. The potatoes were perfectly seasoned and my bacon was great. My husband ordered the million dollar bacon and he was in heaven. His French toast wasn't as warm as our other food but we have no complaints. I love the corner booth by the window. It was perfect during our COVID time. I live in NOVA, so I'm a first watch regular. My parents live in VB, so I was super excited to eat here with them. I was thoroughly disappointed by this location. We waited over an hour for our food and it was just "okay." Our server seemed overwhelmed and very snarky. We placed two complicated orders due to excessive dietary restrictions and her obnoxious comments on these requests were unprofessional, unnecessary, and reflected very negatively on the location as a whole. Two of our meals finally came out at the one hour mark, but we were still missing one meal. The waitress came back annoyed saying the kitchen "lost the order." As someone who works in the food industry, I thought this was unacceptable. We then had to wait for the kitchen to "make another one." I was expecting a manager or someone to come over apologize for the negative experience we had, but we received nothing; not even a discount on the excessive wait time. I doubt we will be returning to this location. I look forward to taking my parents to a First Watch in NOVA when they visit, so they can actually have a positive experience. read more

The food is really good; however, the service is very rude. When we got there they told us it would be a 15 minute wait and a server had tried to seat us but the host would not let them. After another 10 minutes go by, we ended us getting sat at the empty table that they were originally trying to sit us at (which was empty the entire time). The food came out pretty fast but our server never gave us water. After our server didn't come back for a while, we tried to get some water to go. However, the bartender was really rude and didn't even try to listen to what we were asking. The first time, the order was a little late (estimated delivery time was 30-39 minutes and it took 50). The second time I ordered through DoorDash. The food in this place was absolutely delicious!! Not only that, the presentation of the food is top notch and looks beautiful. A few talking points: 1. It's only been open a month so I'm sure the crowd will pick up even more. My first time was Mother's Day so it was already packed but our food still came fast despite the packed crowed. 2. They bring you the whole coffee pot on your table. That was interesting. 3. You can get on the wait list via Yelp that will save you a lot of time especially as it begins to get even more popular. 4. We decided on this place for Sunday brunch. Definitely use the Yelp waitlist on your way there as it gets packed. Cute decor throughout the restaurant. Small waiting area, but they have coffee & water to enjoy while waiting. Our family of 4 was sat with only 3 menus and I had to ask server for another one. Server was kind and gave suggestions on what to try since it was our first time. We ended up getting the million dollar bacon as an appetizer while deciding on our entree. The bacon was burnt for my liking but the parts that weren't, were tasty. It had just the right amount of saltiness, sweetness and spice. I enjoyed the hint of black pepper that lingered after. Downside was definitely the long wait time for our food. Roughly about 50 min...wow!! Kitchen was apparently backed up and they had to turn away people walking in around 1:30pm so they could catch up. I had the lunch combo of 1/2 chicken avocado chop salad & tomato bisque which was ok. Soup could've benefited with a touch of cream or something. My daughter ordered 1/2 ham & gruyere sandwich & tomato bisque. Bread was kinda soggy on the bottom portion of sandwich. Son got the lemon ricotta pancake. They were kinda burnt on the bottom but the flavor of the curd was bright & refreshing. Hubby got the breakfast tacos which tasted good. Honestly, there are lots of brunch options that are better and we weren't planning to return based on this experience. First Watch in other areas are totally MORE ORGANIZED! 7 tables open, and the front reception blames it on the kitchen being overloaded. Well when you start making poor excuses it gives a bad FIRST impression, especially when 7 tables are open. After we were seated it took 4 minutes to place our orders, not bad. Once the server came over clearly she was overwhelmed but took orders and checked on us. While sitting there waiting on our food,just observing. It's truly a circus going on with people coming in and getting on the waitlist. It's clear that the left and the right do not have any clue what's going on and perhaps the people who seat you are not seasoned enough on how to handle crowds and busy times of the day. With tables open there should not be any wait? The front needs to bettered trained to assist the servers and kitchen Big SHOUT OUT TO BUS GUY who was busting tables. He took it upon himself to get people seated, while the other lady had to ring people up and was clearly in STRESS FROM FIGURING THIS OUT!!!! The food is be very good, they have a good selections of specials. The eggs Benedict with spinach and tomatoes needed to be poached a little longer. The blueberry pancakes are very large and a good flavor, and served with a fruit compote. Bacon was excellent and the grits are yellow served with butter or cheese. I really wish they served real cream with the coffee instead of the cream in plastic containers. The omelettes are a good choice the Gruyere cheese and ham was exceptional served with home-fries. The reason I gave four stars is because the food was exceptional our server was excellent. I think once the greeters chill and handle busy times the crowds would be less irritated. What can I say except that First Watch is one of my favorites. Their very "unique" recipes and "clean" food hits my tummy just right every. single. time. I've dined there for late breakfast/brunch and lunch. The atmosphere is soothing and the staff go out of their way to meet their customers needs. Just keep in mind that First Watch serves only until early afternoon. Recently, I rushed up there to purchase a gift card only to find I was just one minute too late, the doors were locked, and staff were doing their thing in preparation for the next day. Looking through the glass and seeing someone, I knocked until a young waitress approached. After explaining my delimma, she spoke to her manager about my request to purchase a gift card, and came back to tell me there was nothing that could be done since the registers were closed down. As I walked away, the manager (a cheerful and great ambassador for the First Watch image) went out of her way to come outside explaining about the registers, but wanted to inform me where I could go to purchase one of their First Watch gift cards! She deviated away from her closing schedule, went out of her way to accommodate me instead of continuing her schedule of duties to ensure all was shut down and ready for the next day. But, instead, she took the time to tell me where I could purchase a First Watch gift card elsewhere. If anyone is still with me here reading this, and hasn't been to First Watch yet, makes a plan oand/or gather together some of your friends and make a plan to jot it down on your "To Do List" calendar and soon. My new favorite breakfast/brunch spot. I had the Chikichanga with a pomegranate sunrise. The main entree was PACKED with flavor. It seemed like putting hot sauce (Cholula at the table) would be a sin. The pomegranate sunrise had the right amount of tequila in it to just barley taste it. My son had the Tri-facts breakfast with a Belgian waffle with a berry compote. TO DIE FOR!!! Will definitely be coming back. read more

The food wasn't all that to me. The Avocado Toast had way too much Avocado on it and where were the seasonings and flavor ??? I had the trail blazer bowl I think it was called that was basic too like the plate originally comes with turkey but I only eat seafood so I paid the uncharged for a salmon substitute. It came with sweet potatoes eggs turkey/ salmon in my case and half avocado with seeds on it. The salmon was as thin as paper and salty. the eggs were undercooked, I guess some like it like that or maybe the eggs to that dish come like that but it was a no for me. Sweet potatoes were ok as well but there's nothing fancy here. The restaurant was nice on the inside the hot was self serve thing on the table was cool for tea and coffee. I also got soup to go and the cup was half way filled smdh X2 But here's the real kicker My total was 43 something I gave the waitress 50.00 told her to keep 5. I ate here with my adult son yesterday. We have enjoyed every visit we have ever had. I realize it is a chain but doesn't really feel like one. He had ordered the chicken pesto hash that was on special and really enjoyed it. I ordered the bacado omelette, I really enjoyed it and felt it had just enough avocado as I tend to like it, to complement my food and not overkill on the avocado. I've been to a several First watches since they starting popping up everywhere in the past couple years and while they are all the same in terms of being clean and nice looking place to eat the food is just mediocre. It's just lacking flavor. I have tried lots of items and the only thing I can think of being memorable is the chickachanga. This place was lovely! The atmosphere is very modern and nice. The juices were beautiful and delicious. They felt healthy while also being tasty. First visit, everything was amazing from the food to the service. It was so good my family and I went back today. The food was not good, service was horrible and we will probably never return. We sat down and waited an extremely long time for our waiter to come. Took another 10 minutes for him to bring our drinks. I advised him there was lipstick on both of our coffee mugs and he snatched them away as if he was offended. Then it took probably 25 minutes or longer for him to return to take our order. We didn't receive refills at all. My husband asked for a refill and he never brought it. After waiting a very long time for our food, he came and advised us he has a large table so it's going to be a while longer until we receive our food. We didn't see him again until he brought our check after us flagging him down to get it. We had to stop other waitresses for refills. I understand restaurants get busy and I even understand things taking longer then usual but the service we received was what made the experience horrible. read more

This place was really neat!!! I thought it was going to be busier when we got there but we got sat almost immediately! All of the staff were extremely friendly during our breakfast too. We had the fall iced chai cider to start off with which was super refreshing and tasty and then I got their steak and eggs gluten-free! They made a Parmesan crusted gf piece of toast for me which I thought was a great touch. The thing I loved most about the steak and eggs was that they used flank steak instead of a rougher cut and it made it so much more flavorful. I had the opportunity to try First Watch for the first time and I was pretty impressed. The restaurant was decorated beautifully and had both indoor and outdoor seating. Luckily, it wasn't too busy on a Friday morning, so we had a table right away. One thing I have to comment on is that it was extremely cold in the restaurant. I had on leggings and a tank top and was freezing! It's also a little loud in the restaurant. Our server was great and gave us time to peruse the menu. I chose to go with something on the summer menu, the salmon tzatziki toast, which was delicious! I wish it was a staple menu item. Everything else sounded so good as well, so I'll definitely have to try more menu items! Food was great, I had the Trifecta, B got the Belgian waffle. Million dollar bacon was OKAY, but extremely high on the saltiness. I love salt, but I'm afraid that was way too salty for me. To each their own though. We had about a 25 minute wait, was expected though. When we were finally seated, we waited about 5 minutes before waitress brought coffee. No problems there. We then waited another 3-4 for the waitress to come back. She then asked if we were ready to order. So we started ordering. Then afterwards we mentioned to her that we didn't have drinks yet. So she asked us for our drinks. We waited around 18 minutes (I did time, I always do) for our food. It was delicious and I enjoyed it and so did B. We were rather disappointed with the service. We were rushed to our seats, once it was our turn, just to be forgotten about. Our waitress was very nice, but I think she may have been overworked that day. Waited a really long time to be acknowledged and even longer to get our food. I think our waitress went on vacation before she got our food to us. My Trifecta was cold by the time I got it. Fork was dirty. Table of 7 next to us sat down 30 min after and they got their food within a minute of us getting ours. Hubby enjoyed his food. His came out piping hot. I was really hungry and couldn't wait to eat so I didn't send back. Who knows how long it would've taken for me to get the 2nd plate. Food might have been good but I couldn't tell b/c it was too cold to enjoy. Maybe someone else will have a better experience. Person ringing us up was also not friendly. Disappointing first impression. Wife wanted to try this new place because of the organic menu. So we show up and are seated immediately. About a dozen other customers in the establishment at about 0745. 5 minutes go by without being offered any water or coffee. We have to flag down someone to get water and coffee and to not take the chance of being neglected for anymore time, we put in our order. She ordered the ricotta lemon pancakes and I order the The Works and the The Floridian French toast. We get out coffee about 5 minutes later and about 22 minutes later we get the food. So a total of about 27-30 minutes before getting food from the time ordered. Food was ok. Nothing spectacular, but nothing terrible. The food was still warm, unlike several other reviews that have been posted. Service needs improvement before I will consciously come back. read more
