What a disappointing experience . My family and I loved coming to pops diner for breakfast and sometimes lunch dishes . We also have 4 kids under 5 years old so it's nice to go somewhere that offers kids eat free . Typically we sit in the corner and is a pleasant experience . This time not so much at all . Drinks for kids aren't included and usually I get them waters . Today I decided to order a sweet tea for them to share . So I ask the waitress to bring my 2 extra small kids cups so I can divide it. She brings larger ines but I just think it's probably all they have . She then proceeds to hand me the drink and say " I can't give you refills since you are dividing the drink " I reply and let her know I'm buying a drink that comes with refills I'm not going to ask for 3 separate refills absolutely not . I'll probably just ask for 1 refill on my 1 drink that I bought and divided for mt small children . She arguing me and it was to the point that I'd rather just hit have the drink . Then with a laugh she says "okay I can give you refills . " the whole encounter was strange and inappropriate and unnecessary. It made the whole finding experience afterwards strange and uncomfortable . So disappointing . We will Not be returning . read more

Great spot for a quick and easy breakfast or lunch. It has that small diner feel and wasn't too crowded when I visited, which made for a relaxed experience. The service was excellent--kind, fast, and very helpful. I ordered the garden omelette and it was pretty good, plus it came out quickly. They also have options for a full lunch if you're stopping in later, which is a nice bonus. And I noticed they serve mimosas--definitely trying one next time! If you're coming in for lunch, just be mindful they close at 3 PM. Perfect if you're looking for something casual, quick, and decently satisfying. read more

We visited Pops 4 years ago and we were not impressed with the bland food. Two recent visits have dramatically changed our opinions! Pops has a brightly lit, spacious and inviting room - scrupulously clean. The servers are very helpful and friendly even during busy times. We had the over the top breakfast grits with gobs of cheese - a hearty portion which could fill you for days. The simple eggs, bacon came with delicious, generously seasoned home fries. I had the Best Bagel Sandwich with a light, fresh bagel, Swiss cheese and scrambled eggs. Perfect. Pops at Lyndhaven has become one of our goto places. read more

Well, first time at this location, but I have been to the other one on Northampton Boulevard several times. Each time the food has been cooked to perfection as ordered in a hardy portion.. I am a breakfast guy and this is the place for breakfast. Of course my friend he would club sandwich and after looking at that sandwich, I was like I should've got that as well or instead of. Lol . But the real reason for the review was the server Melia ( hope I got the spelling correct) . From the moment she said us her reading and just a little conversation about the menu I could tell she was gonna be a good server. Came back and checked on us until we were ready and once we are ready, we finally placed the order after taking a little too much of her time. But she was very patient. When we immediately walked in we were greeted by staff. To me that's important regardless if you have a wait or not. Once we got seated only took a few moments for our waitress to come over. We asked questions about items and she was very knowledgeable answering them. Food was splendid and wjll def return in the future. read more

Always a good place to grab a bite whether it's breakfast or lunch. Portions are large and service is fast. There is usually plenty of seating unless you go on the weekends, then you may have a wait. Place is open and airy and a mix of tables and booths. Thursday 8/15/2024 I first visited pops diner co back in 2022 at different location and I remember having a solid brunch experience. I had the bread pudding, French toast, cinnamon roll pancakes, and a custom omlette. I had meaning to make my return for a while to have the bread pudding cause it was so good and that's what I did. I made a takeout order though chownow and got the bread pudding $5 and French toast combo (w/ scrambled eggs & bacon) $14.50. The bread pudding was very very good and the piece I got was a good sized piece. I wouldn't be surprised if this is some kind of French toast bread pudding with syrup cause it was just that good. The French toast combo was pretty disappointing: the French toast was mediocre, the scrambled eggs were bad, and the bacon was thin & below average. I definitely wouldn't get this item again. Overall, my pops diner co revisit was pretty mid but it was saved by the amazing bread pudding. I would definitely return and recommend this spot solely for that delicious bread pudding. read more

I've been looking forward to coming to Pops Diner for a few months. Finally, I fitted into my calendar decided to go to have a birthday breakfast before going to enjoy a spa day!! Being I was by myself, I sat at the counter. It took a minute for me to be greeted at the counter. I ended up being greeted by the hostess, because she realized that no one had came over after that it was smooth sailing. The restaurant wasn't too busy. There was one other person at the counter, and a few tables were filled. it was a Friday during a work week so I guess I wouldn't expect it to be too busy. I have been wanting to try the bananas, foster French toast I also ordered bacon and the home fries that apparently everybody loves and recommends. The French toast was very good perfectly grilled the bananas foster sauce was really tasty. The crispy or crunchy pecans was the icing on the cake. I was not impressed with the home fries. It reminded me of like mashed potatoes that had been fried. They were very mushy inconsistency and didn't have too much flavor. Not to mention I thought they were a little overpriced for potatoes. I did notice that the person that was sitting at the end of the counter was there before I got there, and her food was already sitting there. Not much of her food had been eaten and not once did anybody go over and speak to her or check on her at all . She did end up leaving. I don't know what transpired but I just know that the whole time I was there she was not checked on via waitress at all and I was checked on at least 3 to 4 times. Maybe it's none of my business, but it's something that I noticed when I'm in a restaurant. Funny thing is I ran into another birthday twin wearing a princess crown while eating my breakfast so I decided to treat my birthday twin to her breakfast. She was a young girl I would say she probably was turning five or six happy birthday to my birthday twin don't know your name, but I hope you enjoyed your day. I had high expectations because I was told how great this place was. They are OKay. It is small and they only have one bathroom. For so many people in this one restaurant they need several bathrooms. Staff are friendly and service was quick enough for the volume of people inside. This is a busy place. We got the waffles, and they were good. We also got the chicken tenders and fries. The tenders have to much breading. They were not very good. I will not be ordering the tenders again. The fries were OK. My friend liked them more than I did. We had dined here a long time ago and I haven't been able to stop thinking about the banana nut waffle since. Your typical diner but with great flavor! We ordered the banana nut waffle (fluffy, flavorful) and the bananas foster French toast (the sauce makes the meal) and we're both really happy. This is a great spot for family, friends and diverse groups. Menu is adequate for most diets, (vegetarian and vegan with request and modifications.) Service is fast and friendly. Thais is a very nice place to have a meal. The "Hogger" was great was our waitress was amazing! And a great vibe over all.

I think that I might have found my new brunch spot in the area! As some might know, brunch probably is my favorite meal because you get the best of both worlds (breakfast and lunch) with alcoholic beverages. Pop's reminds me of a non-chain version of Denny's BUT with WAAAAAAY better food. For my dining pleasure, I went with the Hangover Cure (I think that's what it was called) which was a breakfast bowl with eggs, home fries, sausage (or was it bacon) smoother with gravy. Even if you do not have a hangover, this dish will definitely make you feel better about yourself (unless you are on a diet). Yum Yum Yum. Our service was pretty top notch so there are no complaints. Fortunately for our visit, we did not have much of a wait but I can see this place being quite packed on weekends. From my POV, the prices are pretty fair and in line with what you would spend at similar establishments. I cannot wait to try some of Pop's yummy breakfast/brunch items. read more

The waitress was on top of her game as soon as I walked in by greeting me and getting me to my table with menus in a very polite manner. I have been hearing about Pop's Diner for YEARSSSSSSS. But never went until this day to be fair, most of the recommendations I got for this place was for their breakfast people rave about their pancakes and their grits and other breakfast fare. But on this particular day, I wasn't in the mood for breakfast, so I ordered something off the lunch menu and it was quite disappointing. It was so mid, that I can't even remember what I ordered. It was some kind of sandwich... Maybe a club... Or maybe a chicken sandwich with fries and the sandwich nor the fries were memorable or exceptional in any way. Based on lunch, I would not return. But I will give them another chance on a day when I'm in the mood for breakfast and find out what all the hype is all about. The piglet omelette was delicious and the bacon jelly was a perfect addition to provide a sweet and savory combo. We shared the cinnamon roll pancakes and they were great too. Of course no impromptu breakfast is complete without a mimosa and I prefer man-mosas. The waitress we had was super nice and attentive. The prices are too inflated for the food you get. A side of 2 pancakes is...$6.50! They only have three salad dressing choices to select from, and the bathrooms smell like mop water, are weirdly arranged and feature a rusty urinal. Coffee was good and refills seemed to be offered every few minutes so you won't run out. I was there at about 10:15am on a Saturday and seated right away. 10 minutes after my Oder was taken the food was delivered. What can I say, it was all very good! It has been a little while since we had eaten in Pop's diner. We miss the old menu that included the chicken a la pepperoni and the chicken Ceasar wrap. During this dining trip, tried some classics and the special chicken & strawberry waffles. Everything came out perfectly delicious. The garlic cheese fries had a good ratio of crispy and soggy fries topped with garlic powder (not the overpowering fresh) and oh. I forgot to mention the bacon - crispy bacon bits were hidden under the cheese. The ham, turkey, lettuce, bacon made a perfect tower of the club sandwich. Got the croissant breakfast sammich and the croissant was buttery perfection, the pico was fresh and delightful. This is my mine my family's favorite breakfast spot! We go there quite a bit. Everything is so delicious. Generous food portions and pleasant servers. My favorite thing to get is the shrimp and grits. Another great thing about them is kids eat free all day every day. It can get busy on the weekends so plan to wait. This location is smaller than the Greenbrier but I personally like it better. There is no bar in the Lynnhaven location either. If you are looking for a great breakfast at a reasonable price, this is your place! read more
