Upon first look at the place from the outside, you can see the name and logo pretty easily. It looks similar to other places that happen to be in this same shopping center. We got here around 8 am on that first visit. When we came inside, it wasn't too busy yet, likely due to others probably still sleeping after being up past midnight for the new year. The inside of the place has a modern diner type of vibe, which fits the restaurant well. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server Brooke came over pretty quickly and asked us what we would like to drink. I just do my usual of water with lemon, and my mom had gotten coffee. It would take us a little while to choose since there lots of good items to choose from. When she came back to check again, we were ready this time. I figured I'd get something I don't normally do, so I went for the French Toast Combo with scrambled eggs, bacon, and baked apples. My mom decided to go with the Ultimate Skillet with rye toast. The food would come out pretty quick. It was around ten minutes or so. Both breakfast entrees looked really good and they were hot. It felt like an indulgence when I started on the French toast since it has been a long time since having it. The baked apples were great too, and something else I don't normally have. I will note that I didn't get a blood sugar spike after this meal either that day. My mom enjoyed the Ultimate Skillet as much as I did with the French Toast Combo. After the experience from that first visit, we came back to try the lunch/dinner menu options for dinner that day. This visit was on January 12, 2026. After being seated initially, we moved over to a table since the booths were a bit tight. Kellie was our server on this visit. She asked us what we wanted to have to drink, and I went with water with lemon and my mom went with a coke. After taking some time to look over the menu, we were ready to order. My mom decided not to have too much, so she just went with the Loaded Baked Potato side item. I decided to try the Chipotle Chicken Ciabatta Sandwich with the homemade chips as the side. Just like the last time, it took about ten minutes or so for the food to come out. The sandwich I had was really good, and so were the homemade chips. This time, this meal did spike my blood sugar levels, but it was so good. My mom told me afterwards that the loaded baked potato she had come out cold. It was then that we let the server know, and she asked if she wanted to get it redone. She said no but wanted to take it home instead. The server did take off the cost of that item. It was likely due to it sitting before my sandwich was ready to bring them out together. Mom did get a box to bring it home and had it later that evening, and she said it was good when it was heated up at home too. Overall, we have had a few very good experiences here. The food and service were good, and the issue for my mom was handled well too. That shows they truly care about the experience of the visitors here. Both menus may be just two sides, but there is quite a bit to choose from. I think anyone would find something they would like here. There is one thing I want to note when it comes to paying. There is a 3% surcharge added to the total including taxes if you use a credit card instead of cash. In the end, if you are looking for a diner type of place, this one is worth checking out.

Each time I drive south on Kempsville Road I have tried to locate it but failed. Today after visiting my favorite ice cream spot I decided on an early dinner and set my GPS for the restaurant's address. To my surprise it was extremely visible, sitting right at the entrance to Kemps River Crossing Shopping Center. Turn into the entrance from Kempsville Road and you'll see it sitting directly on the right. It was early. So we were able to immediately get a comfortable table and extremely prompt service. Our server remembered all my special needs. She answered my fiend's questions about her preferred wine choice. Our drinks were served very quickly. The menu was extremely interesting. There were different sections for differing tastes. The Lunch/Dinner Menu has sections for Sandwiches, Soups & Salads, Small Plates, Signature Burgers, Tavern Pizza & European Comfort Foods. The latter was where my interest lay. It was a really hard choice since I could easily have ordered many of the dishes on the menu. How could I choose between the British, German & Irish entrees? After much agonizing I finally chose German. My Jägerschnitzel, a German classic, consisted of hand-flattened pork loin fried and topped with traditional onion and mushroom gravy. It was served with kraut, warm potato salad, and green beans. The large portions were perfectly prepared. I was pleased with the choice. My friend ordered the other dish I had considered: Magners® Corned Beef & Beer Braised Cabbage which consisted of Magners® cider marinated USDA corned beef brisket, slow-cooked and thinly sliced in house, paired with braised cabbage and bacon, chive whipped potatoes, and whole carrots. This will be my choice the next time I visit. The food came very quickly. In fact, too quick. I like a little time to linger over my cocktail before the food arrives. I've now learned that next time I'll wait a little longer to give the server my order. Park Lane Tavern exuded the air of a happy place. I'm not quite sure how to describe it. It's a cross between a restaurant, tavern or very large comfortable diner. The closest restaurant I've found to this was a large cozy similar type establishment on the Jersey Shore, which was obviously a hangout for locals in the off season. The only thing missing at Park Lane was their roaring fire. But Park Lane has the better menu choices. There are distinctively different sections. We were in a section that consisted of regular tables and chairs, which is ideal for those of us with bad backs and titanium knees. :). But there were no televisions in the area. There were sections of high top tables, booths and large inviting looking bars. Televisions showing sports were visible in most sections. I'd like to try one of the different sections closer to the bar rather than to be immediately taken to the more comfortable section, obviously their section in which to seat people my age.:) After dinner I did a little research on the tavern. The establishment was designed to feature the elements of a European Tavern or Pub. It has succeeded well in replicating that feel. It offers the best of both American and European cuisine. The group, which also has Taverns in Hampton & Fredericksburg, features unique beverage offering with an extensive selection of draughts from around the world. In my opinion they have completely succeeded in their goal of providing atmosphere, design, cuisine and comfort. I can't wait to return and try the Corned Beef & Cabbage.

This mixed greens salad has some star ingredients that caught my eye: charred artichokes, green olives, and grilled balsamic chicken. Yum. I'll be ordering this salad again. My bestie ordered her favorite bc combo with Tomato Soup and the Wine Country salad. She says that soup and salad combo never disappoints. She finished it! But, we always save room to share a trusty bc favorite dessert: the Wimbledon (strawberries with whipped cream crepes). Although it's no longer on the menu, the Greenbrier location always whips it up for us when we ask. It's an oldie, and a goodie! Portions for salad and the size of the sandwiches were pretty small. Flavors were there but for $30/pp at lunch I'd expect to not leave hungry.
