Whether you get a tough skin all the way or you go for the all-beef boars head, you will be happy. Everything is excellent including the service. There are about five tables and then the rest is counter and stools--so the place isn't huge, but it moves quick. This was the first time I've been to this restaurant, and I was truly impressed . I got to the restaurant about 1230 and the place was packed, and understand why. Nice folks that work here! I've been wanting to try this place and now that I have I can say it was good. The hot dogs were of quality, I had a polish sausage and it was good, but it's just good. Nothing really stood out to me. I was totally shocked by how little of hot dog toppings they offered as well. They have some different ones like nacho cheese and sauerkraut but I was expecting a vast selection of toppings because it is a hot dog place. I have been going to Lulu's for many years. The staff really hustles at this small establishment. The owner is often there and also works right beside the other ladies. They always welcome everyone, whether you call in an order or when you come in the door. They have a good menu for the type of business they have. Hot dogs and hamburgers seem to be the biggest seller but they also have BBQ, bean soup which I have heard is very good, french fries, delicious homemade chili. No one can compare to theirs. Their chili cheese fries are very good. They have different types of sausages and foot long dogs which many places don't carry. I have never had a bite of anything that wasn't fresh and tasty. If you go btw 1145 and 115 you may have to wait a little bit. They also have seating at the bar which is nice to sit at. You can watch the young lady who runs the grill cook and see how efficiently they all work together. I highly recommend trying Lulu's if you want a tasty lunch in a comfy and clean establishment. read more

The absolute best hot dogs in Hampton Roads. The regular hot dogs are tasty and the chili actually has spices. Most have a bland tasting chili. The fries are crisp . The two dog and fries run about $10. The best thing about the experience is the staff. This group of ladies makes you feel welcome and despite a busy lunchtime, they deliver the meal quickly. I enjoyed lulus. I tried the hormel hotdog.... all I can say is that hotdog is tiny lol. So order an extra one . But delicious and a great snap to the skin. Lulu's is the "Go-To" place for hot dogs. Since Hormel decided to stop making the beloved Norfolk Dog, they, after an exhaustive search, came up with a very tasty replacement. Their hot dog chili is some of the best around. Not too spicy, not too bland... Just right. They also will cook the hell out of your fries if you ask nicely. Their Tots are also great. BEST HOT DOGS IN HAMPTON ROADS! I have only had the Norfolk Dogs at one other place and there was nothing special about them, but Lulu's dogs seem different in a very tasty way. Everyone is super friendly, prices are fair, the place is clean, well maintained and very charming. I also ordered a cheese burger, just so I could give a better review and was also very good. I wanted to give them five stars more then anything, but there where two very small issues. They have a small grill, so when it's busy (and it get's busy) things back up a little and you may have to wait. Also as tasty as the hamburger meat is, the burger bun was a little lacking, it's still a good burger but the hot dogs are better. Agree with others who like the hot dogs and burgers here. I work in the neighborhood and would be a regular except it takes WAY TOO LONG. I could eat lunch at Bakers Crust in the time it takes to eat here. Slow to take your order, slow to get the food up, slow to give you the check. I've only been here three times and the obvious chaos behind the counter simply drives me nuts.. I think the problem is 1) no system and 2) grill, fryer, and other equipment is inadequate to keep up. We have been here many times & have never had a bad service, no matter how busy they were. They were packed & loud yesterday, but It's a small friendly place. You can call ahead your order & have it ready when you get there or take it to go! The burgers are fresh & juicy, no pre-packaged burger there. My husband's favorite is the Smokehouse burger, I prefer just cheese, mayo & mustard. Any way you like it they are delicious! Hot dogs are good, love the chili! We've been coming here for quite a while and for the last 21 years it's been consistently wonderful! We call ahead and then hubby will drive by and pick up our lunch. We usually get some hot dogs or maybe hamburgers. What I really appreciate about them is that the quality never wavers. It's been wonderful since I moved here. My husband grew up here in Norfolk Highlands and he has said it's been the same since he could remember. Plus the ladies are so pleasant, and never seem stressed or out of sorts!
