We ordered food from McGraths tonight through doordash. It was $70+ for a burger and fries and a reuben sandwich and fries. Way overpriced, yes I know, it's even worse through doordash, but we were craving their food. Sadly they royally f'ed up our order. I received a burger with spicy fries (not the garlic fries I ordered) and unfortunately I'm allergic to whatever this spice is they put on the fries instead, so those went directly in the trash. What about the reuben, you ask? Wouldn't know. They didnt give us that sandwich AT ALL. How do you forget an entire meal? So basically I paid $70+ for one burger. And doordash would only give me back $55 of it. So thanks for nothing McGraths. We wont ever be ordering from you again. read more

It was 245 in the afternoon on a Tuesday and my son and I were the only customers in the establishment which I thought was weird but as it seems more of a bar than a restaurant that makes sense. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I loved the pretzels but I will say that personal my burger had too much bun. First time trying McGraths while being in the area. After we ordered and received our drinks (tea and water), we were then told that the kitchen only had one worker and it was a long wait. Not sure why they couldn't tell us this before the order. Anyway, no biggie. We ordered an app, mozz sticks and split the 4 cheeseburger sliders with fries. The mozz Sticks came out about 40 min later. They were so over cooked that all the cheese was completely blown out of them. We tried a few and it was nothing but bread. The waitress was nice enough to take them back and just remove them from our tab (it would be too long to wait for them again). Another 20 minutes and we received our order. The fries looked amazing!!! I was so disappointed to find out that looks can be deceiving. They had no flavor. I feel like maybe it was an oversight? I have read other reviews and others raved over them so, maybe the kitchen just forgot to season them. But they tasted like pure oil. But those burgers. Holy moly. Those burgers are were soooooo good! They don't make up for the others but I was glad not to leave there hungry. They gave us a coupon for our next time coming in. Had high hopes for this little watering hole, but there is no other way to say this, the food was not good. Got the pretzel bites and the jalapeño burger. The pretzel bites were the frozen ones from Costco. They were way over cooked and hard. The cheese dip that came with it looked like it had a spoon full of butter and oil floating on top. They tasted completely uncooked. I had to smother mine in ranch to make them edible. Not great. Was looking for a new place to try and this spot did not disappoint. We were greeted as soon as we entered and told we could sit anywhere. It is a small divey spot which I loved! There's outdoor seating and private parking lot with plenty of parking. They brand the buns -looks great and doesn't affect the flavor or softness. The burger was juicy and the sauce was so delish! I recommend getting more on the side. The chicken was tender and moist- needed more sauce and blue cheese. We asked for the bacon well done and probably should've just said we didn't want it rubbery bc he definitely took well done to heart. They have a full bar and carry Pepsi products. First off I ate at the truck. Very cool truck. I love food trucks. She was very nice and friendly. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger for my wife and I had the Irish whiskey cheeseburger. Both with steak fries. First off this is a big messy burger. Messy in the most perfect way. I love a good messy burger that drips cheese and onions and sauce all over the fries. This did that 100%. So sweet and flavorful and smoky and delicious. Great burger. And the fries were crispy and seasoned perfectly and had amazing flavor. Salty and crisp on the outside fluffy on the inside. I also tried the Reuben Pierogies . They were delicious! Perfectly made with shavings of corned beef and kraut. I love pierogies, they are hard to find at restaurants. The server was very efficient and nice. She kept our drinks filled and checked on us alot. We loved the decor and the atmosphere at McGraths. It's laid back and they have TVs to watch the games . After a long night of moderate beer drinking with friends at Big Ugly, one of the boys suggested making a run over to McGrath's. Now I live in Newport News, I'd never heard of this place. We drive the 1/4 mile and settled at a high table. The establishment isn't overly large, it's one room with several high tables and some lower tables. I do like the Irish theme, it does add some unique atmosphere. I ordered the Irish whiskey burger, which was a half pound of beef topped with Jameson glaze, sauteed onions, Dubliner cheddar, and bacon. Pretty hard to mess that combo up! I asked for the burger to be cooked medium and it was closer to well done, the inside was almost all gray. But the beef was juicy so I didn't mind too much. But the highlight was the toppings. They came together perfectly and that's what really made the burger so good. Soft squishy roll always helps also. And very good steak fries too. I'm usually a little wary of those, they're usually undercooked on the inside and not so crispy outside. These were cooked well, but also seasoned nicely with just the right amount of salt and pepper. And when a little of that Jameson glaze dripped onto the fired, well, you can keep your ketchup. And for 13 bucks, that's a fine, fine deal. And points for having Smithwick's on tap! Give me a Smithwick's over a Guinness any day of the week. read more

There is good bad. First let's start with what is exceptional- their tap Guinness Beer. Amazing! Their burgers are very good 4.5/5. My only issue is they need to improve their ventilation system. It's not keeping up with their burger grease/ smoke. If you have an open kitchen to your dining area you 100% need to stay on top of your air quality/ air flow. I'm not a fan of their outdoor seating. Highly consider improving your air exchange/ ventilation out. read more

Have been several times now, and the service has been great so far. The vibe is simple and understated, but clean and decorated appropriately for this type of restaurant. They have a lot of option on their menu but the reason you come here is for the burger. Each time we have been, the burger has been on point. I have tried a few different variations since they offer a variety and honestly, they have each been very good. Great buns, great cheese and of course the burgers themselves have all been great! McGrath's Burger Shack is located on Battlefield Blvd. in the Millwood Plaza Shopping Center. I don't come out to this part of Chesapeake very often, so I figured I'd give this place a shot. My visit here was on June 2, 2020. When my mom and I were here, the state was still under phase 2 of Covid-19 restrictions, so all in person dining had to be outdoors. It was a nice weather day too, so it wasn't much of an issue. They have an outdoor patio seating area. After getting here, it wasn't busy at the time. We went inside for a moment to see if someone was in there, and there were some contractors working on remodeling the interior of the restaurant. There was someone in there and said we could just pick a table on the patio as it was empty at the time. A few moments later, our server Davis came to the table with menus and asked if we wanted something to drink. One thing I will note is that he didn't wear a mask at all during the entire visit. A few moments later he came back with the drinks and asked if we were ready to order. It would take a few moments more to decide, but when he came back after that, we were ready to order. We both ended up going with the Irish Whiskey Burger, but for mine, I also added lettuce and tomato to it. After about ten minutes or so, our burgers and fries came to the table. The burgers looked really good and juicy. The top of the bun even has McGrath's Burger Shack on it. After digging into the burger, it was great. It was cooked as requested and hot. There was good flavor to it as well. The fries were also good and seasoned well. Closer to finishing up, he came back with the check. Once we finished, we were ready to pay, but our server hadn't come back in a while. After waiting a while, we ended up going inside and ended up paying there instead. Overall, the experience here overall was great. The food especially was great and that's an important part for sure. There were a few flaws in the service as noted above, but that happens. If you're in the area looking for a good burger place, I totally recommend trying this place out. read more

McGrath's Burger Shack is Great Bridge's newest obsession. I love burgers and I love food that is instagrammable, and with huge juicy burgers being served up on top of newspaper complete with a cute little branded bun with the restaurant's logo on top, who could resist? I came in on a Wednesday night, and the whole place was packed, which is a good sign; furthermore, each and every spot was almost filled, but luckily I grabbed a spot at the bar, where my man's Davis took care of me. After looking over the menu I decided on ordering an Irish Burger infused with Guinness, as I've never had one before, and a side of steak fries with ranch. The Burger was cooked perfectly; nice and juicy and the cook even put a cup of Jameson BBQ sauce on the side that really set off the flavor of the Guinness infused meat. Whew! It was an experience, the fries weren't half bad either. I did enjoy my meal; however, due to the place being packed and there only being a small amount of staff, the wait for food was a bit longer than I would've liked. The cooks and Davis were handling everybody's needs quite nicely, just in my opinion more staff would have had this place running a lot smoother. McGrath's burgers were good. There was only one person cooking all the food on a Friday at lunch and it took an extremely long time to get our food. The space must not have a heater because they used only a small space heater to try to heat the entire restaurant. It obviously doesn't work. The burgers were wonderful, but I don't know if it was worth the wait in the cold. Other than freezing inside the restaurant, I don't think I would go back and eat inside. Maybe I might order to go. My husband and I stopped in here one evening while waiting for our son to finish his Jiu Jitsu class next door. I had the Mojito Lime Chicken Burger and my husband ordered an Irish Whiskey Burger. We loved how unique it was that they branded the top bun, it's a fun touch. My burger was alright but wouldn't order it again, it was missing that "oomph" factor. The Sweet Potato Fries were the sweet kind, not the savory kind, and they were tasty. My husband said his burger was great and perfectly cooked, he didn't care for the Sweet Potato Fries because he doesn't like them that sweet. This place has a pretty good beer list, which i enjoyed. They were pretty busy and there was only one guy in the kitchen and one waitress, short staffed indeed! So, regardless of the wait time (which was understandable) it was a nice little find.
