As someone who does a lot of food reviews, In and out of magazines I can honestly say the food here was solid -- flavorful, fresh, and definitely worth trying. BUT what really stood out to me was the service. Our beautiful server Kalaynauh made the whole experience feel welcoming and effortless with such great attention to detail and genuine hospitality. Westside Burger was not a regular burger. I was a smashburger. Toppings overloaded any taste of the meat itself. Fries were okay, nothing special. Coney Dog was supposed to be a Sabratt so I was thinking a skin-on dog. Have been looking for a good replacement for a hot dog ever since Harvey's in Churchland closed. This wasn't it. It was okay but nothing special. Onion rings were plain, no good flavor to them. The Shirley Temple was okay. The Raspberry Cream drink on their app showed about half raspberry, half cream. Mine arrived with about a quarter inch raspberry in the bottom of the cup and the rest cream. Big difference. Still, it was okay. All in all, very average. A bit expensive, I think, for what I received. Went there today for lunch, there were 6 people already seated and eating. We sat ourselves per the sign but after waiting for about 10 minutes we had to go get the waitress that seemed dumbfounded that we were there. She took our order and that was the last time we saw here until we got our check. The fries were good, hotdogs bun length but thin, I've had better hotdogs at little league fields. Went here for dinner, there's inside dining which was kind of small and an outside area which had more space. I like the atmosphere, def can come here for a fun night of drinks and food with friends. Service was okay. I decided to try the Westside Burger (8/10) it was good, nothing crazy about it. The onion rings (9/10) and the mango habanero boneless wings (6/10) they weren't spicy at all. They were cooked nicely and had a decent flavor, but it wasn't mango habanero. I wasn't very impressed with the food, but they have a nice atmosphere. A perfect little burger spot in northern Suffolk. We came here for a quick lunch on the weekend. We were seated as soon as we entered and had our drinks a few minutes later. For crushed ice lovers, they have crushed ice. I didn't realize it from the menu but these are smashed burgers which is my favorite. I'm not a big beef eater so I don't like massive patties. I tryed the frazzle dazzle burger with onion rings. My friends had the frazzle dazzle, cheese sticks, wings (bone in) and fries and the shrimp and fries basket. Anyone who got the burger loved it. The wings were also great. The shrimp basket was the only fail. They were over fried. The cheese sticks were massive. One was more than enough for one person. Our group of three had a great meal at Westside. I ordered the single and a side of mozzarella logs. The patty was the best part of the meal. It was seasoned well and the meat flavorful. The bun had been visibly toasted on the grill, which is nice and adds to the grill taste but the bun was cold. If my bun was warmed it's easily a 5 star burger. The tomato was fresh, albeit cut too thick for my personal preference. The cheese logs tasted great (quality cheese) but had absolutely no cheese pull. The surrounding area is nice and if it wasn't so hot we would have opted outside seating and played corn hole. I definitely recommend stopping by and trying a burger. read more

Today I ordered a side salad with ranch dressing. Guess what was missing, the freaking dressing. I'm not a fan of plain lettuce. I even checked the box to include silverware. I have been following the progress as they have been building and finally tried it out. Burgers are good and the single is plenty big. They charge for toppings so it increases the cost. Be prepared. Ketchup and mustard are free and on the table. The drinks were disappointingly in very small styrofoam cups. For $2.50 the cups should be larger. The place is clean with plenty of seating. Keep in mind not only do you get charged for onions and lettuce, a charge to support equal wages for the kitchen staff was added. That should have been noted up front before we ordered. Before I begin, let me start off by saying that this review is based solely upon my personal experiences and my personal experiences alone. So with that being said let's go!. My wife and I decided to give this restaurant a try after one of her cousins told her this place has good burgers! So we said to each other " why not ". Right?. Well here we are after a meal here. We both ordered the classic double cheeseburger, my wife added pickles, lettuce and barbecue sauce. I just added grilled onions to mine. We shared a small basket of fries. My wife ordered a sweet tea, I had a can of beer off of happy hour that I was not thrilled with at all ( I am not faulting anyone but myself because that was a poor choice of beer) but in my defense I didn't know because I decided to try something different. Note to myself: Stick to what I know!!.. I will tell you that each addition of our cheeseburgers is an additional price from the burger. The cheeseburger, burger or hot dog comes plain unless you add sides to it. They have salt, pepper, hot sauce, ketchup and mustard in a basket on the table for your convenience. Along with a napkin dispenser next to the condiment basket. Our cheeseburgers came out fresh and our fries came out hot, that is a winning combination in my book! Also $15 for a burger asks if I want fries as my side assumed yeah it comes with it but nope that was another 3 dollar add on for a handful of weak frozen French fries. This seemed like the perfect weekend to try the new Westside Burgers in Bridgeport! Let's start with the good: Food tasted good, super fresh ingredients and very creative sides! We got pickle fries and they were spot on. The overall aesthetic is nice and right on the cowboy theme and there were tvs playing various sports like speed boat racing. The bathrooms were fantastic too! Service was fast and friendly! The music in the background was very millennial friendly! Additionally even though we didn't take advantage of it, the outside area looked really nice. Now for why it's not a 5-star from my family and I: The drinks came in small styrofoam cups. It was a huge thumbs down. Additionally even though the burgers were fresh ingredients, the pickle fries and fries are not fresh made. For the large price tag associated where you pay per item, like the lettuce, tomato, onions, I would have expected the sides to not be bagged frozen items that you pop in the fryer. On the subject of paying per item...be prepared to pay extra for any add on to the burger. The burger was a culinary delight; the beef was juicy, well-seasoned, and nestled between a soft brioche bun. The a la carte menu allowed for a personalized touch, letting me create my own perfect burger. I have now eaten at Westside Burgers 7 times and feel ready to give them a review. My first experience was pretty bad and that's why I waited so long to be sure about this review. The first time I went they were newly opened and clearly having some issues. The staff was severely under trained, the soda drinks were served in small 8 oz. styrofoam coffee cups with long straws (a disaster in the making) and the burgers and fries came out separately. Our fries were all gone by the time our burger arrived. The server accidentally brushed the straw and my coke went everywhere and, worst of all, he was so horrified he just froze while my companion and I were grabbing phones and trying to get away from the table to avoid being soaked. However, the burger was very good and so were the fries. I waited a while to go back hoping they had worked out the kinks and they had. The staff is well trained and efficient, the burgers are well cooked and juicy, the fries are crispy and delicious and the taller plastic cups are much more stable. I was not a huge smash burger fan (they can be over cooked and dry) until Westside but I now love them. At least I love Westside's. I'm sure the fact that the hamburger meat is fresh (not frozen) makes a huge difference. These burgers are so juicy and flavorful I'm thinking they probably aren't that tasteless 80/20 fat ratio but I don't actually know. All I know is the flavor is always in the fat and these are loaded with tons of flavor. My favorite meal is a cheeseburger and over the years I have become annoyingly fussy and demanding. In my estimation there are only two really good cheeseburgers in Hampton Roads and Westside is one of those. I love that I live very close and can easily satisfy my Westside Burger Jones. read more

The atmosphere seem nice but when the food came, I started to notice that there was a lack of care for the food being that most of it seem to be premade, frozen and dropped in hot grease. I assume this place wants to stay open and busy but if you can't do anything from scratch, why open the restaurant? I suggest you consult with the restaurant group to help create things from scratch so that you can be authentic. You have a very simple overhead burgers, fries, onion rings, shrimp, hot dogs come on you can do it. I hope this feedback finds you well and if you are interested, I do have experience in the restaurant industry And particular burger restaurants which I love and I'm also a food photographer so if you need help, I'm here but I would not support frozen food being served to me and a brand new establishment. And I know this may seem harsh, but it is the truth. In the end I also find it very hard to see a future. Went here last week for lunch. Initially no other customers. Was seated right away and the server took my order. The food came out pretty fast and tasted fine. It's a bit pricey. A double bacon cheeseburger (the patties are thin) will run you $12.50 with no toppings. If you want anything on it, they nickel and dime you to death. $0.75 for three pickles? Really? New favorite hangout spot! They got an awesome outside dining area with plenty of room for playing cornhole and other games. Pretty new spot and growing with new areas in the restaurant currently being built. Menu is no frills and straightforward - which is all you need, as all the burgers and fries and other options are simple and delicious. Service was perfect as well. Tonight's experience at Westside Burgers was terrible. If we hadn't eaten at Westside before, I would never go back again. We entered the restaurant with two groups ahead of us. The hostess was extremely friendly but unable to find the first group's reservation. After asking them to step aside, she helped the gentleman in front and seated us at a four-top by the front window. We then sat there for 10 minutes before our server, Rico, came in from the outside area and stated he was double-sat. He asked if we were ready to put in some food. We said we understood the delay and ordered: two diet cokes, a single cheeseburger with pepper jack and grilled jalapeños, a double cheeseburger with American cheese and grilled onions, two orders of onion rings, and a side of French fries. Before Rico left, we both asked for a side of mayo for the burgers. We then sat for an additional 10 minutes before my husband had to flag him down, asking if he could bring our sodas. After 15 minutes or so, our server delivered our food. The burgers looked great, but the mayonnaise was missing. While Rico went to get the mayo, we discovered our fries were cold. Upon his return with only one Mayo, we informed him the fries were cold. To his credit, he went behind the counter to drop new fries as we tasted the onion rings, which, you guessed it, were also cold. I went to the counter and said, "Excuse me, sir, the onion rings are also cold." He acknowledged me, and I returned to the table. We began to eat our burgers, and he returned with the fries but no onion rings and informed us his chef would bring out the fresh onion rings. We continued our meal, watching orders of onion rings leaving the kitchen but going to other tables. Ten minutes later, halfway through our burgers, our drinks empty, and still no onion rings, our server returned and asked if we had received our onion rings. My husband replied, "Nope," but before we could ask for drink refills, he turned away. Our burgers and fries finished, he returned with the onion rings and said they were on the house and he would get refills, leaving our empty cups on the table. Halfway through the onion rings but clearly still eating, he returned to ask if we were ready for the check. He sat on the windowsill and printed the check, for $47 and change. The amount seemed high, so I asked how much it was m, and he replied $47 and change. He then read what was on the receipt. After realizing the error, he said, "Oh, I forgot to take off the onion rings," which amounted to $12 and change. He sat back down on the windowsill and reprinted the check. At this point, I told him about our disappointing experience. He then asked if he could tell us the truth, which was that they aren't staffed appropriately and are not ready to handle the additional guests with the outside dining. He added that he should have never had to pick up our table and wait on us. Quite frankly I could not believe what he said and maybe had been more empathetic if he had omitted his last statement. He apologized for the poor experience and service and said in addition to removing the onion rings, he would take money off the burgers. He printed a new check. The new total was $37. Well, folks, that math ain't mathing. Our original bill was $47. If he took off the onion rings as he first stated, the bill at a minimum would be $34 and change, but he offered additionally to take something off the burgers as well, so the bill should be under $34. At $37 dollars he didn't even take off the full price of the onion rings. Totally annoyed at this point, we just paid the $37 plus an additional 20% tip and called it a night. Words of advice to Westside; condense the waitstaff sections, don't have your team serving tables both inside and outside.this is a sure fire way for them to forget about a table. If your waitstaff is overwhelmed go on a wait instead of continuing to seat guests, it will allow the waitstaff and the kitchen a chance to stabilize. If your hostess has no guests at the door have them refill drinks or run food instead of letting food get cold in the window and leaving your guests thirsty. Teach your staff to pre-bus their tables, it will help you turn them over faster. Teach your team to upsell desserts by at least offering them to your guest before they offer to bring the check this will increase your sales and in turn their tips. In my opinion, your meal should be served hot, all ordered items should be delivered together, your drink should be full, and you should never, ever, make your guests feel that your waitstaff did them a favor by waiting on them. read more
