Went here b/c I heard a lot of good things about the place. Excited to come in, we happened to show up during a trivia night. While we had no intentions of playing, it was fine. At first, the hostess said they were full inside but had a few seats outside. The weather was nice so we figured, sure. When we came outside, there were two other people that looked defeated. I asked how long they had been sitting there and one guy said 20 minutes, the other said 10. The whole time and no one had been there to even greet them. It was at this point, I knew we were doomed... but I never expected what actually happened. Eventually, a server comes out. He greets the other two folks then looks us and straight up ignores us. Look, ignore, and keep walking. Thinking that maybe he's just busy we chilled some and waited... nope... gave them water and still continued to ignore us. After THREE more times of this waiter ignoring us, we decided to go to the hostess for alternate seating. While there at the front, I was so infuriated that I told 3 other customer waiting in line our experience and insisted they enter at their own risk. They left. While we did get another seat with a waitress that was very amenable, the service from everyone else was just lackluster as heck. Overall, if you're just struggling for wings, sure... hit this place up. However, if you want an actual decent experience b/c of how much the cost of nights are... I'd advise pass. Service was fast and pleasant. It's loud inside and the game was on. We ordered appetizers from the happy hour menu and for $6 each. Drink specials were very cheap for drafts and wells. Crushes and margaritas a couple dollars more. Meals come with a side for the most part. They're known for their wings and can be wet or dry rubs. I didn't like the Mac and cheese and it was a premium side. It was sooooo greasy and somehow not covered in cheese at all. Amateur hour with that one. I've heard such amazing things about the Dirty Buffalo, but I've never been in the 8 years I've been in the Tidewater area during and after my time at ODU. I do not recommend getting the macaroni, it was flavorless. The bone in all flat wings I got were cooked amazingly, but I don't think my server got my Cajun buffalo sauce right. It wasn't Cajun or buffalo..it was very sweet so I did not like them. I took them home with me and tried to dress it up some, but sweet is just not for me. Besides this, the food & the service were great! I look forward to my next opportunity to go here and try some other sauces!! The server was sweet and took her time regardless of how busy they were. The food was not good. The buffalo caesar salad had warm wilted lettuce and I couldn't eat it. The poor man's wings came out with no blue cheese so as I waited for that for ten minutes, they got cold. My kids meal came out with no side of Mac and no ranch. my other kids meal had cheesy broccoli, but no cheese. If other servers are running food, it's common knowledge that one should ask "how does everything look at first glance?" then once confirmed that all is well or that something is needed, either go get it and bring it to the table or let the server know. If you are truly that deep in the weeds, set the food down and say your server will be over in a minute to check on you, then let the server know the food has been dropped off. Also, read the ticket before you leave the kitchen. Check the tray. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the food was rang in properly, the issue was the lack of attention on the way out. read more

I originally had take out from The Dirty Buffalo and enjoyed it. Brought my husband for our first dine in experience and we absolutely enjoyed everything we ordered. The garlic parm pretzels were delicious, the fried pickles had the right amount of crispy, and the wings, and burger were so flavorful. My husband loved the various sauces. Above all, the waiter Andew is a diamond in the ruff for waitstaff. Everyone should be trained by him. Unfortunately, the service really tainted the experience. Our server, Reagan, was noticeably rude to our table--dropping food without a word and showing a clear attitude--while being friendly and attentive to everyone else around us. I thought the strawbanero were one of the better flavors out of all the wing places I've been to so far. It is unique to dirty buffalo and it's a good combination between sweet and spicy. I don't think it is that spicy, but it has a good kick to it. The buffalo sauce and spicy garlic parmesan was decent, but I thought it was too salty. Like other wing places, it is a great place to drink beer and eat wings with da boyz and watch football during football season. It gets very crowded during playoffs, so getting there a little earlier is the key. Our server was Javier, and to be honest, he was one of the best servers I've ever had anywhere. In the future when I go, I'm gonna see if he's working and only sit in his section. Wow! We were watching Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives one day and The Dirty Buffalo aired and we thought it sounded incredible, so I listed it to my DDD list. Never knowing, when or if we'd ever be in Virginia Beach, living the Midwest. Fast forward a few years and we start planning a trip to the Outer Banks and The Dirty Buffalo was on my list. We couldn't wait to go, reviewed the menu and planned lunch on our way to the beach! First customers in the door for lunch on Sunday morning, we were greeted by friendly people with smiling faces! We ordered beer, soda and fried pickles while we looked at the menu. How can you not try The Dirty Chick? We ordered ours as a single with mild sauce and we loved it!! Chicken tender with mild sauce, delicious Mac and Cheese and home fries. So incredible! The beer selection was amazing and we enjoyed ice cold drafts from New York! The fried pickles were yummy and we waited for our wings. We sampled sweet BBQ, medium, spicy BBQ, spicy garlic parm and spicy garlic ranch. Soooo good! People who arrived after me were eating by the time I was first approached. The person who seated me was the one to come up, as they seated 2 men next to me. Look, I still like Dirty Buffalo but as I've become more of a "regular," I've noticed some things that bother me. Please note the positive things I do say in my previous review still stand but I can't help but notice the lighting in this location is harsh. I also am bothered that on their "bottomless boneless" night on Thursdays, any subsequent order after your first comes as not only a smaller portion but a different quality and type of wing/nugget. They are more like "popcorn" nuggets where the majority of the bite is just breading without much chicken. Just serve me a smaller portion but don't lower the quality of chicken! I've dined at this Dirty Buffalo a handful of times. I've mostly come in during football season - it is quite the experience. Food is good - TDB specializes in wings. They offer a myriad of sauces for the wings, which keeps things interesting if you like variety. If wings aren't your thing, they offer burgers and what not. There are even some items that are exclusive to TDB (check out the Dirty Chick - chicken tenders in your choice of sauce atop mac 'n' cheese and home fries), so everyone can possibly find something they'll like. Service, the times I visited, was good. That is a must because football Sundays are crowded (I remember having to wait at least 20 minutes to be seated; it's that busy). We arrived during dinner time so of course they were busy, but we didn't have to wait long. Our waiter was great and he was pretty on top of things. The restaurant is separated from the back. However, you can enter in either direction. Bar type feel but family oriented. They have a back room filled with arcade games and allows you to exit out that way to the back parking lot. Oh, man, TDB - it was just not cool what ya'll did! The Dirty Buffalo has three other locations: in Chesapeake, Little Creek, and VA Beach. I have been wanting to try this place for a while, so finally had the chance to stop by for a later lunch while visiting the area. Besides having daily specials, the menu is quite extensive, offering combos, appetizers, salads, mad bowls, hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches, subs, and desserts, besides their popular wings dressed in a variety of sauces. We ordered: +Garlic Parm Bites - Wisconsin cheese curds that were lightly tossed in the house's garlic parm sauce, sprinkled with grated parm, and served with a cup of marinara sauce +a 15-piece bone-in wings in medium sauce (considered to have a heat level of 2) +sweet tea The Garlic Parm Bites were tasty - they seemed a bit overly fried and were drenched in the garlic parm sauce (there was a big pool of it in the bottom of the basket); I feel like the portion was halved or something, because it looked like some curds were missing. The wings were okay, as we did ask if it was possible if these could be well-done, be all flats, and be extra wet - our server, Amina, stated that it may be a possibility, but she would just have to double-check with the chef. When she returned, she said it was a go, but she never mentioned whether there would be a surcharge on any of these requests (you know, I thought it was common courtesy to mention this?). She then proceeded to state 'You get two sauces' with our wings - we thought, what a surprise, since the menu stated that ranch or the bleu cheese was an extra charge (and, no, the order doesn't include even 1!), and perhaps the larger order of wings automatically included two? So, we decided on bleu cheese, based on her verbatim. And, no, there was no misunderstanding, and, no, we didn't misheard this. When we received the check, one could say that we were really surprised with all these extra charges added to the total (for the 2 bleu cheeses, for the wings being 'extra wet', and for the the request of 'all flats'). Again, none of these charges were ever mentioned by Amina. And, look, we have no problem in paying for customizations, but at least give us (and, all your customers) the common courtesy and be transparent about it so we can make that ultimate decision. It's like being nickel-and-dimed/being bamboozled - it was just super shady and all in very poor taste. Also, when you look on their online ordering system via their website, items seemed to be deceptively written - '1 Extra Ranch', '1 Extra Bleu Cheese', each being 69c; doesn't that mean at least 1 sauce comes with? Also, 'extra wet' isn't even an option, and nowhere does it state that there is an extra charge? Shrugs* I did like how the place was set up like a sports bar and they were playing a 90s alternative rock playlist; I thought we were having a good experience, but having it conclude like that?
