    Korean Style Wings 6pcs
    Devin G.

Being a little generous with my review for this one because my food was to-go. The highlights for me were the wings (got half Korean sweet & spicy and half spicy soy garlic) and the Amber boba. The wings were not the best Korean fried wings I've had, but they were solid 8/10 wings. The Amber boba (regular sugar/light ice) was very good and surprised me. The chicken katsu curry was a little disappointing. Granted, my food was to-go (had to get to-go because I ordered at 9 and they close at 9:30) and I feel like the curry is a dine-in type of meal. But I feel like there was something missing in the dish, it was kind of mid. Having realized afterwards that this is a chain restaurant, I understood - but the big curry chain in Japan, Coco ichibanya is definitely beating this curry. Some pickled relish or additional seasoning would help this one.

Salmon and tuna Poké Bowl - Pick 2

First time here was for the Yelp event, I was so impressed with the quality i couldn't wait to return. This time i brought friends, I had the poke bowl with salmon and tuna. A friend had the orange chicken with the crab wontons and they were fried to perfection. The service and the quality of the food is top notch.

I liked everything about this place, the location, the ample parking and just the way the building was presented. Presented. While walking up there was somebody cleaning the tables and arranging the seats, the minute I walked in two different people greeted me and just the way the floor was spaced out. Plenty of room to see and then you had an ordering kiosk or you were able to talk to the person behind the counter who is the sweetest person on Earth and helped me through my first experience here. Also, looks like this place does a ton of takeout work. I'm surprised there aren't more reviews because the food is absolutely delicious, I had the chicken katsu which was really uniquely plated. The curry is actually on a lid with the rice steaming underneath so you just have to kind of tip it over. The katsu comes in its own container so it doesn't get soggy. Of course. Why wouldn't you do that. I did have the chicken karage which could be an Andre by itself. So if you're getting a six piece of wings just like I did, you're in for a long night. I didn't get a drink but I will next time I go in here. Also, the two-go bags are really really cool and reusable. Just walking out of there. Just made me feel happy. Not my usual kind of review but I love this place.

Chicken katsu. Korean fried chicken soy garlic. Taro milk tea.

I didn't really expect much when I came in because the menu was so vast. The place had Ramen, chicken katsu, bubble tea and Korean friend chicken. It felt like they were fusing way too many different things together but I was pleasantly surprised when the dishes came out great! I ordered the chicken katsu and soy and garlic korean fried chicken with a taro milk tea. They were all amazing, I even enjoyed the Korean fried chicken more than the bonchon near the MacArthur mall! The chicken katsu curry is just the way I like it with the sauce a bit thicker it fit well with the rice and the portion size was decent. The place is an order and pay while you sit or go and if you sit you throw your trash out yourself kind of deal but they give you proper bowls to use. If you can't finish it you can always ask for a box. Love the food and would want to go back again if I have time!

    Bulgogi bao buns

The poke was so fresh and tasty. They were so generous with their portions. I loved all the options for what you could put in your poke bowl. I put mangoes, edamame, cucumbers, jalapeños, and green onions, and seaweed. It's very fresh food. The bulgogi bao buns are great portion sizes, and the wings were crispy, not as spicy as I was expecting but saucy and tasty! Extremely clean little spot. There's a lot of seating too. It's easy to order from the kiosk as well.

Horrible horrible food. Complete waste of money. I ordered a beef and onion ramen bowl with a miso base. My kiddo got a poké bowl with chicken. We both left hungry. Waste of money.

1st time here and decided to give it a try. Wow!! We definitely were not disappointed. Actually we were taken by surprise how excellent everything was. The Ramen, Wings and Orange chicken was so flavorful and well cooked.

Want to go back and try more of their delicious food! It's not overly large inside so coming at an off time (right at 4) we were able to get a seat but I bet it can get busy! They do have outside dining so if it's not too hot or cold there is that option!

The restaurant was fairly empty, with only three other tables occupied, so we were surprised by the length of the wait. Our two canned Sapporos didn't arrive until about 30 minutes after ordering. The shrimp sandwich took approximately 45 minutes, and the Vang rolls arrived after about an hour. After waiting an hour, we were informed that the garlic shrimp for our garlic noodles was unavailable, despite it being part of our original order. Unfortunately, the Vang rolls were so salty that we couldn't finish them. Throughout the meal, our water glasses were never refilled, and there was little communication about the delays or unavailable menu items. After roughly 90 minutes of waiting, multiple delays, and learning that several items were unavailable, we decided to pay for what we had received the two Sapporos, the shrimp sandwich, and the Vang rolls, which came to about $70. Perhaps we visited on an off night, but the combination of the slow service, poor communication, unavailable menu items, and disappointing food quality made for a frustrating experience. Based on this visit, I don't see myself returning. +1 Vibe +0 Taste +0 Presentation +0 Service +0 Value

I'm all for new businesses with a chill vibe and this place has it!…read more Well I found out this place is an extension of the Origami Asian Bistro. The bistro has a lounge/club atmosphere about it, while The Bamboo Room is a restaurant that caters to the brunch crowd. Well to my surprise I had never heard about either place until a few Sunday's ago. Somehow I received word through avenues that an event was taking place here on Sunday, February 11th. I was in the area, but I had already eaten breakfast. Seemingly, I figured I'd check it out because I was super curious. I did have a super hard time locating this place. After driving in circles for 10 minutes, I called the contact number and those directions provided were spot on. I believe the address I had was much different than the address that pulls up when searching for this place. Nevertheless, I am here... I pulled up and I saw at least four others walking ahead of me. I figured ok... traffic... this place must be worth checking out. I took a few pictures before heading inside... upcoming events taking place at Origami... I stepped foot inside and was immediately awestruck by the brow raising aromas of their Sunday brunch! Man, I wish I was a little bit hungry just to give them a try. But again, I was super full, but going by the smell alone, five stars!! Well speaking of stars... I subtracted a half of a star because I cannot vouch for the food because I did not try anything. And the other half of the star is because they did not have WINE! WHAT!!!??? So yeah, a huge blow...but mimosas were featured... at least two kind (a special juice and orange juice). I tried the special juice mimosa...sensational! I exchanged words with the bartender, Niecey, a waitress, Tiana and someone who seemed to oversee everything, Kam. They all were super friendly and forthcoming about everything. Especially the bartender she gave a me a little background on the restaurant and she enlightened me about Origami. Evidently they had an awesome SuperBowl event...she raved about it. And the young man, Kam, handsome fella, he asked a few times if I was ok... southern hospitality I'd say. Just an awesome vibe all throughout my dining in experience. The bartender even offered those sitting at the bar a sample of an alcoholic shot... it was delicious! I think I saw them offer everyone in the restaurant a shot... great hospitality I'd say. Cheers! Music was played through a speaker or two... nice tunes... those sing along type songs. Well I enjoyed it... anything from 80s music to Beyonce! There was a group present celebrating something and they all seemed to be having a great time! The atmosphere at noonish... the place is about 700 square feet and on this day including myself, the restaurant had about 25 guests during Sunday Brunch. I'm excited to return and try the brunch buffet with another mimosa! I recommend if you are in the area on a Sunday to give them a try. They only feature Sunday brunch right now. I believe. Now the Origami Bistro... I am unsure of the hours. But they have events from time to time... The Bamboo Room has spark a super interest... they are on to something! The Bamboo Room is located same shopping center as Ollies off of Virginia Beach Blvd. in Norfolk. Also in the shopping center you'll see, a Chinese Buffet Restaurant and MP Island Restaurant on the opposite end of the Bamboo Room. There is also plenty of parking. But visiting on a Sunday shouldn't present any issues at all. Have fun and enjoy life :)

Which wouldn't have been such a problem, if it weren't already hot and we had known before. My friends and I traveled from different cities, so if they were running behind I feel as though they should've let us know. Your reservation is for only an HOUR! the music selection was great, but extremely loud to the point that you couldn't hear the person next to you. The AC and fans were not on in our section, we were extremely hot. The waitress kept forgetting our order of French toast. And she didn't bring it out until we were about to leave. I know we had to have waited for about 45 minutes for her to bring it. Overall this place definitely deserves a 3 out of 5. I will not be returning.

Coming from Asia, I know exactly what traditional, high-quality Japanese and Asian food should taste like, and this place falls short on almost every level. To put it bluntly: if a restaurant like Volcano opened in China, it would have gone out of business a long time ago. The food is simply not authentic, not fresh, and not that great. The Rice Trap: They load you up with an insane amount of rice. It honestly feels like they are trying to cheap out and stuff you full of heavy carbs rather than letting you enjoy the actual fish or ingredients. The "Americanized" Pandemic: This place suffers from a common issue found in many Asian fusion spots across the US--it's heavily Americanized. It loses all the traditional, delicate flavors of real Japanese cuisine. Ambiance & Noise: The restaurant is always way too loud. As for the decor, it tries to mimic a Japanese style but fails to capture that clean, elegant, and serene vibe. Instead, it just feels like your generic, slightly greasy American-Asian diner. If you are someone who has never had real Asian food and just wants to try something generic for the first time, it might pass. But if you're looking for a genuine, high-quality traditional dining experience, or want to treat your friends to a nice meal? This isn't the spot. It's just not worth the value.
