Dropped by this location- honestly just because I couldn't decide what I wanted for lunch and Ya Ya's is near by so I was initially heading there. Then I stumbled upon a lunch special - and I love a deal. I ordered 6 wings with a side of white rice and added some ranch (came to approximately $14). I should have skipped the ranch because it wasn't needed at all. The flavor of the wings, sweet with a tiny bit of spice, and the CRUNCHINESS! Absolutely delicious. Wow 8 years later since I was here and I'm glad to say it was a good experience. The menu is wildly different from what I remember but that was good surprise. I also had a $3 beef bulgogi taco that probably had the same amount of beef, if not more than the literal Bimbap bowl. Also I had one refill in that 45 min period. And it wasn't a slow kitchen thing either I watched at least half a dozen door dash drivers pick up orders. Probably not worth going to unless your ordering wings because at least they have to give you the amount of wings you ordered. They still have the best Korean Fried Chicken, and I would only recommend carring it out. My last experience dinning in was disappointing. Several items on the menu we wanted to order were not available and the server was not aware of this when we ordered. The server forgot part of our order, and the fried rice was burned. The place seemed understaffed with the server frequently apologizing for what might happen, instead of what did happen. Sticky tables and the place is looking old and worn. The guy took our order, then told us he was the only waiter...it took awhile to get drinks and food. He did warn us that if we got wings it would take about thirty minutes. That was fine with me. I order the wings, and fried rice. My husband ordered the bulgogi. The bulgogi was good...fried rice was ok...but the wings were on point...and I will definitely be ordering those again. This place is kinda like an Americanized Krean place, and there really isnt anything that is authentic..everything was ok, but the wings were delicious. The spiciness of the sauce compliments the oily fry, the seasoned bulgogi, the cheese pull, and the zing of the spring onion. The service was ok. I especially loved the pork belly steam buns. The only downside was the service. Giving some grace because it was busy, our server was especially inattentive, mumbly, and seemingly annoyed when I asked her to repeat what she said because I couldn't hear. We were told when we were seated that drinks from the bar were 30% off, but when we got our check, they weren't discounted. I don't think I would have been so displeased with my order if it wasn't for the lack of care when I went to pay for and pick up my order. There seemed to be no sense of urgency between four workers to retrieve my order from the kitchen and I stood around for about five minutes after having asked to pay to two different people. So good!!! I loved the food. I'm not a huge meat eater. But their chicken wings... hands down they have the crunch you're looking for. The soy garlic flavor was really good. I like that they don't skimp on playing. We also got drinks. I love that I can get some here. It reminded my husband of his time in Korea. We ordered 8 wings and 8 potstickers (both soy garlic) for the table appetizers. It was my family's first time having these wings and they loved them! I put the kimchi in it to help sauce it up a little. It was alright. The bulgogi meat was dry as well. Everyone else at my table got the bulgogi dinner and remarked the same. It was dry. And that's kinda hard to eat by itself with rice. The bathrooms were literally hit/miss. My sister went to one bathroom and said it was really gross and the toilet didn't work. I've had a little bit of Korean fried chicken lately, most notably at a small restaurant in Hampton. But Bon Chon is the big name with many locations around the country. On a Friday night, I was able to snag a small table against the wall and I went with the small combo, which is 9 pieces of drumsticks and wings: half and soy garlic sauce and half spicy and it was a great contrast of flavors. The spicy ones had my mouth pretty lightened up though, I needed a couple of breath mints later to get over it. It probably took another 20 or 30 minutes for all the heat to fade. The drumsticks and wings were rather large, BonChon definitely doesn't skimp on the size. The skin was super crispy, I'm willing to bet they use rice flour in the breading. For my side, I went with the pickled radish over the Japanese cole slaw and it was decent, but it acted as more of a palate cleanser, it didn't really have much flavor to it besides vinegar. But I did get a side of steamed rice for another $2.25 and it was a welcome addition. I think if anything, a little more of that soy garlic sauce would have complimented the rice beautifully. For drinks, I got a sweet tea along with a canned vodka and soda mix that they're currently selling. I liked the black cherry flavor. The taste reminded me of a hard seltzer, but still less than 5% alcohol. Good place to stop in with good food. It's not large by any stretch, so you might want to get the food to go, if you can. read more
