Remains of a side salad that comes standard with the rice-based meals. Phenomenal mix and dressing.

I travel to Japan for work pretty often. There's so much that Kappo Naro Ramen gets right about Japanese cuisine but the most important is the ability to come in on a cold winter night and get the most savory comfort food available at a great price. From the entryway, you're greeted with a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. The menu is full of Japanese classics and ramen, this visit we got classic bowls - beef and fried pork cutlet. Both were superb and perfect for this cold night - and importantly authentic to their comfort food nature, uncompromising on flavor. Id be remiss to not mention the great portions and the ice cold side salad served before our mains - complimentary with a rice dish. So good! Can't recommend the place highly enough!

First impression of the interior: lots of kpop decor. Seemingly clean and no apparent issues. Service was solid. Employees were nice, came by to check in regularly, and service was pretty quick. Got the spicy miso ramen and unfortunately it was pretty disappointing. Noodles had good texture to them, but the broth was too salty. I think it could do better with a protein.

Kappo Nara Ramen has awesome ramen selections! Their cutlet ramen was so flavorful and the chicken cutlet on top was perfectly cooked. I was starving from an unusually long day at work and my bowl of ramen warmed me up and was the perfect, comforting antidote to overtime. Also, shoutout to the service for being accommodating of a single diner! I always appreciate when dining alone. I'll certainly be back!

I love the flavors at Kappo Nara! The most notable set of flavors come from their salad dressing. You can order a whole cup of their dressing and take it home. There are notes of ginger and sesame. I'm not sure what all the specific ingredients are in regards to peoples allergies, but all I know that it is addictive and I want all my salads to be topped with their dressing! Salads come complimentary with their rice dishes When I'm craving Japanese curry, this is my go to restaurant if I don't feel like cooking it. Their katsu is made to perfection. With a good amount of sauce proportioned with the rice. Speaking of rice dishes, if you're craving a simple but delicious umami meal, the katsu don is what you should go for! Made with egg and their crispy katsu and caramelized onions all on top of a big bowl of rice. Ooh my mouth is watering just thinking about it. When it comes to ramen, I personally order a bowl of spicy miso broth to clear my sinuses and for the most flavor. I had the tonkotsu yesterday and it wasn't as full and robust as I expect tonkotsu to be but the katsu on top made it enjoyable. My mom had the vegetable ramen and it was a little salty for her preference but the contents were good overall The place is a little small in size but I enjoy the feel. The most notable servers I've had were Alvin and James. They made the experience fun and enjoyable. They were kind and accommodating and it really felt like I was taken care of!

Pro: big parking lot, carry out, food, clean interior, attentive staff. Con: none. We happen to stumble across this restaurant by chance and are so happy we did. We drove 3 hours to get to Virginia Beach and were looking for some dinner. initially we were going to go eat at a viet/chinese restaurant but they were closed. Then we tried to eat another Chinese restaurant but they only did carry out. So after looking online we found this ramen shop and decided to come here. Parking lot is big so no issue finding a parking space. Upon entering we were seated quickly and look at the menu. For appetizer, we ordered the shumai steamed & the chashu bao. The shumai came with about 6 pieces and they came out so soft and flavorful. You have a tangy sauce to dip which elevated the flavor. The chashu bao was so delicious and nostalgic that the first bite in it reminded me of something from my childhood. For the entree, I order the spicy miso with extra noodle and 2 piece of chashu. Also, we had a plate of pork cutlet on the side. The miso broth had the right amount of spice and packed a right amount of punch. The noodle were soft while the thick chashu was meaty and juicy. The pork cutlet was crunchy and season perfectly. All in all, the food here are amazing and would highly recommend anyone to come and try this place.

You will first walk in into a bead curtain. Not sure why they would have that, most annoying thing ever. It's a pretty small restaurant and not busy for dinner time which was nice because of fast service Tonkotsu ramen pretty standard. The pork cut they had was just awful and thick cuts. I don't even know which part it is but I've never had that style before and was not a fan. Nice broth though. Corroke was nice and crispy. It's more of a ball. Didn't give a lot of sauce. It would have been better if it was more flatten or something. Might of cooked better. 0 service for only 3 people dinning in.

Great service and food quality!!! I was only familiar with their Virginia Beach branch and didn't know there were any others. I love the VB branch but I have to say, I think I like the Norfolk branch just a bit more! The Katsu Curry was made very well! The chicken was pretty tender, the curry was flavorful and really made the chicken and rice stand out even more!

This place has great Ramen!! It was served hot, lots of flavor, the add ons weren't too expensive, the chicken was cooked well! As far as atmosphere, there was no long wait, no problems with customer service, great music, just an overall great experience! I will make sure visit again.

The waiter was very short and not welcoming at all from the moment we stepped in, kind of discouraging for my first one ever being here.

I had the Ebi (shrimp) curry ramen. The curry was very flavorful but different than both Jamaican and Indian curries. I don't like that they keep the tails on the shrimp even though it's in the ramen. I also had salmon rice balls as well as Shumai. The shumai was good and so were the rice balls, but never having had rice balls, they weren't what I was expecting. I expected them to have meat in them but it was just rice with salmon flavored powder. We also added hot green tea to our meal. While not anything special, I do like to end my meal this way. The service was pretty good but we didn't like that our waitress stood next to our table from the moment we sat down. We felt pressured to hurry up and order, and it just made things awkward. She was very attentive though. This restaurant is your typical local Japanese style restaurant. Very authentic in its feel and decor - nothing fancy, basic service. But if you like more authentic type dishes vs chain restaurants, I think this is a place to try! Oh, I will also add this place was alot less expensive than places like Domoishi! I give it a 3 star because I feel neutral about it - not because anything was super wrong about it!
