My daughter and I came to get a quick bite to eat after holiday shopping and this place was amazing. The food was good. The waitress was amazing and doing her best. The entire restaurant filled up at once and she handled everyone gracefully. The only complaint I had was that every time the door opened the entire room filled with icy cold wine but that isn't the restaurants fault. Mother Nature. Overall an amazing experience and will return again when in the area.

Stopped at Osaka Ramen & Sushi in Chesapeake VA for lunch on a Friday afternoon.  It was a tad hard to find with GPS Google maps directions.  Once I found it, yay.  It is on the street side of the parking lot for Food Lion. I have to say, they must be doing something right here because when I arrived, the place was full.  6 tables and a sushi bar with 10 seats and half the bar was full as well.  I sat at the bar. They have beer and Sake options, which I thought was a plus.  The place is quite intimate, and on this occasion, the air was minimal; just enough to keep the sweat off you, but moist enough to not get cool.  On this day, it was about 84 hot and humid. There was one server, who bless her soul, was completely slammed.  She was running around like she had 6 heads and 8 arms.  She needs a raise because she handled the slam and the wait for patrons very well. If you are expecting a show at the sushi bar, this may not be the place.  The sushi chef was quiet.  He was concentrating on getting the sushi out, and it was just him, so he had to be on his A game.  The service here was quite good, despite the slam. I ordered a Kirin beer which came with a cold glass which was definitely needed. Ordered the Sushi lunch special, 3 rolls for about $16, and it was well worth it.  The sushi was good, not great, but reasonably priced and quite filling.  I could find my way back here. They had chili oil, which I mixed with the soy sauce and Wasabi for my own special dip.  It was quite delicious.  I really want to give 5 stars, but the sushi is just average, and the service was exceptional considering the circumstances.  Still, 4 stars is quite appropriate.

This place is close to my job so I'll try to come here on my lunch breaks. They have great lunch deals. I believe most of it was under $15. Their spicy ramen bowl is sooooo good. I've probably ordered it about 3-4x. If you like spicy and lots of flavor. I definitely recommend it. I can't remember the exact name, sry! The staff is always nice when I've visited. The place is always clean when as well. Nice place to grab a quick lunch with friends or whoever.

After passing the location for years, my fiance and I ventured into Osaka to try their ramen. The staff is extremely friendly and the service was top-notch. I tried the O-katsu (chicken katsu) ramen, while my fiance had the spicy tonkatsu ramen. Both were very tasty. One of my favorite parts of the dish was the soy-marinated egg. It wasn't as soft-boiled as most eggs I've had in ramen, but the flavor was unique and a surprising highlight of my meal. My least favorite part of the dish was the pork belly, which I am not a fan of in general. My fiance loved it and said it was very good though. I also noticed they serve Aqua S ice cream, but we were WAY too full after our meal. The food was so good that we stopped by the next day! We are happy to have found a good ramen spot in Chesapeake and I can't wait to try their sushi next.

Veggie Ramen with hardly any broth

I've ordered from Osaka a lot and this is really the first time I have been disappointed. I really wanted soup because I wasn't feeling well and my container of broth was only 1/4 full. There is barely enough broth to make it a soup. The flavor was also lacking tonight and there was hardly any veggies in my veggie ramen. They also forgot my extra egg :(

Took the kids out for some much wanted Sushi and our first choice wasn't open so we tried Osaka Ramen and Sushi. A little disappointed and won't return. Miso soup was ok and Osaka Roll $12.95 was tasty. My Volcano speciality roll $9.95 was the size of my finger in width and missing have the filling. Water cup tasted like soap and the smell of a chemical cleaner was extremely strong from our table. Son's Chicken Paitan Ramen broth had a weird taste, the teriyaki chicken was tasty. Customer service was great.

I dare you to try and find a better ramen shop in all seven cities that are better than this one, or their other locations. The service was great, you seat yourself if seating is available. The waitresses brings the food and drinks in the right order. Never had an empty cup. All the food was HOT, all the food was fresh! You can taste and smell the quality compared to different ramen shops. Quality ingredients and quality food, no complaints about anything ordered.

Yummy ramen! Friendly staff, filling bowl of Ramen, overall a satisfying adventure. We both got the tonkotsu. I'm intrigued on trying the meat lover's next time.

Okay so I have a new love for Ramen and I want to thank Osaka for that! Decided to try them out as I was looking for a quick bite for lunch one day. The server recommend the oxtail ramen to me and she did not steer me in the wrong direction. It was so goooood! I did order it spicy so I know that gave it extra flavor, but I know it still would have hit the spot, If I didn't. Also, I love the intimacy of the restaurant. It's a place where you can definitely become a regular! I can't wait to come back and try their other ramen meals.

I was craving some hot soupy noodles today after the rain, so decided to check out Osaka Ramen, hoping it would satisfy my craving. I have only been here one other time, 5 years ago, so I couldn't really remember what it tasted like. We walked in and were greeted by the friendly staff, and were told to sit wherever we preferred. Their menus are at the table already. Our server came over shortly and took our orders. I got the Osaka meat lover ramen and the tonkotsu ramen. Osaka meat lover ramen: $14.95 This broth was made with pork and chicken. It came with yellow noodles, chashu pork, ground pork, karaage, bean sprout, green onion, and soft boiled egg. The broth looked good, but it did not taste that rich. I asked if they had togarashi, but they didn't, so I added the spicy oil from our table to add flavor to it. I think adding togarashi to each table would be nice. I personally feel like my ramen tastes better with togarashi over spicy chili oil. The egg was boiled very nicely though, and the pork chashu was solid, with the perfect flavor and meaty and fatty interior. Their ground pork, however, was quite different than what I am used to. It was flavorless and looks like it had no seasonings on it. Lastly, their karaage topping was good, but a little bit on the drier side. Tonkotsu ramen: $13.95 Tonkotsu is the classic pork broth ramen. Theirs came with pork chashu, woodear, green onion, bamboo, and soft boiled egg. This broth was also just okay, and I've had better pork broths at other spots in the area. It was made with white straight noodles and again, the chashu tasted amazing. I really wish it tasted less bland though. One thing I noticed was that these ramens did not come with nori, which I am normally used to getting. I came here for a date and the atmosphere is casual and decorated nicely. Service was 5/5 and our server checked on us every once in a while without being overly attentive. I was not expecting that much, because I knew it wouldn't be a super authentic spot. However, for $14-15 per bowl, I was hoping it would satisfy my cravings. I don't know if I would come back.

We ordered takeout in-person and the food was ready to go in less than 10 minutes. The tonkotsu ramen with extra chashu was delectable as always. We normally order from the restaurant closer to Dam Neck but this location was just as good! I always love ordering their ramen because the chashu literally melts in your mouth and the noodles are nice and chewy Hakata-style. The soup is light but still has good depth and great mouthfeel. I am looking forward to visiting again when I return to the area for vacation.

So I went back for their sushi as it felt unfair to rate them on ramen when their specialty was sushi. There are very few sushi places actually owned and run by Japanese outside of big cities, people rave about this place, and I'm all for supporting them. I did order the ramen again hoping it changed. It was ok, but I resigned it is not the place for ramen. However, I will say their sushi and other appetizers are great, no lie. But my recent visit left a bad taste despite their great food. When we arrived, about 6pm, the waitress told me and my teenage daughter, "only the bar was available". There were 2 4-person tables that could be separated for a table for 2. And I noticed 2 couples already there sitting at 4 person tables. So I asked the waitress why are they seated at the tables? She said they arrived earlier and now they need to keep the tables open Ok, I get that, even though they only opened an hour ago. It's Saturday night, so I'll go with that. Well, shortly after putting in our order at the bar, I see them seat 2 people at one of the 4-person tables. And then shortly after that, they separated the other 4 seater into 2 tables and sat 2 more couples that arrived at each table. Now, I'm raising an eyebrow. I didn't say anything but before I left, I said to the waitress, I couldn't help but notice there were several couples seated at tables after us. She said oh, that couple knows the owner, referring to the first couple seated at a 4 person table (they didn't even separate the table). Ok I figured that when the owner gave a loud and enthusiastic good bye to them and the diner looked Japanese. I replied to the waitress, but then you all seated 2 more couples and pulled the table apart to accommodate them. She replied that the boss ordered them to separate the tables but he rarely does. I replied that we had arrived well before any of those 3 couples and were told we couldn't sit at the table. She just shrugged as if to say she was just following the boss' order. I left the usual 20% tip because I know the waitress didn't make the decision and she gave great service and the sushi was great. However, that said, the blatant preference of other customers felt insulting and left a super disappointing taste in my mouth. And no, they were not all Japanese. Just that one diner. The owner clearly picked and chose to not give us a table, for whatever biased reason. I could understand if I were alone or my daughter was 8, but she looks clearly like an adult. It just really sat wrong with me and left me upset enough that I question returning. It's very unfortunate that an otherwise great experience was marred by this blatant refusal to seat my daughter and I at a table, only to have salt rubbed into the wound by seating numerous couples that followed at a table, by separating the tables. They didn't even offer to seat us at the traditional tables, all of which were empty at the time we arrived. To me, the authentic Japanese sushi was not worth the insulting unexplained preference to seat other customers after us at a table. PS: the only sushi roll I didn't like was the real crab California roll. The real crab was grey and cold and tasted so fishy, I asked to make sure it was cooked real crab and not raw. (They said it was cooked). I guess I was expecting real Alaska crab white crab and it was not this at all.

But what sets this place apart are the low tables where you fit on padded floor cushions on wooden backs. They even provide slippers for you to dog on the platform that's lined with sisal mat. I wish it had more crunch to it than just the kimchi. Also the pork was slightly cold, they didn't warm up to temp with the broth.

I had the Ebi (shrimp) curry ramen. The curry was very flavorful but different than both Jamaican and Indian curries. I don't like that they keep the tails on the shrimp even though it's in the ramen. I also had salmon rice balls as well as Shumai. The shumai was good and so were the rice balls, but never having had rice balls, they weren't what I was expecting. I expected them to have meat in them but it was just rice with salmon flavored powder. We also added hot green tea to our meal. While not anything special, I do like to end my meal this way. The service was pretty good but we didn't like that our waitress stood next to our table from the moment we sat down. We felt pressured to hurry up and order, and it just made things awkward. She was very attentive though. This restaurant is your typical local Japanese style restaurant. Very authentic in its feel and decor - nothing fancy, basic service. But if you like more authentic type dishes vs chain restaurants, I think this is a place to try! Oh, I will also add this place was alot less expensive than places like Domoishi! I give it a 3 star because I feel neutral about it - not because anything was super wrong about it!
