I have been coming here for a long time! Let's just say the first time I came here, I couldn't spell hot dog or any other word! I know they have been around since the late 1960s. Danny was a Greek gentleman and proprietor of the restaurant. The chili sauce is his recipe and it's absolutely the BEST you will ever taste!! The current owners have had Danny's since the mid-90s. They bought the original chili recipe and are serving it up still today. The delicious chili takes 7 hours to cook up! The menu has grown over the years, but I am a diehard for the chili dogs! Brings back such good memories of family and being a kid Whenever I am back in Virginia Beach I have to swing in for some love You can eat inside or stay in the car for curbside service. Either way - you will Love it! Also...it is a family run business. They absolutely care about what they do and they're carrying on the tradition of Danny's great food and service

I View myself as a hotdog connoisseur, having traveled all over the country sampling local hotdog joints. Who knew that one of the best was right in my backyard. Food was fresh coleslaw was maybe the best I've had and was delivered exceptionally fast. I will be back.

Cute little drive-in with very minimal dine-in room as it is designed mostly for curve hop. Pull up,beep your horn & dine in your car or sit down inside. A classic local tradition, their hot dogs are above all others with Danny's secret chili recipe. I love to add cole slaw to mine. Their cole slaw is the best I've had in Hampton Roads. I'm very pick about cole slaw and in general don't like most I try but Danny's is top notch! They have a full menu from breakfast to dinner. Carolina BBQ sandwiches that send me back to my childhood eating in Lexington, NC. Wonderful, welcoming staff & reasonable pricing.

So, while I was driving, I saw this place off Kempsville road called, "Danny's World Of Hot Dogs and Deli." It's a small hole in the wall. I mean really small. But, with chili that took seven hours to stew up and prepare, I believe I tried the best hotdog in Virginia Beach. Not bland, chilli with nice ground beef texture, a beefy hot dog, and coleslaw to sweeten the deal. I ordered the Sebrett Beef Footlong. The hotdog was so good that I have to order the 1/2 lb Danny Burger with egg. Melted cheese, tasty beef, huge slice of tomato, ketchup, and a large egg result into a combined mountain of deliciousness. This burger's flavor flies higher than Red Robin.

    New menu. New phone number.

Best hot dog diner in Virginia! Excellent food! Family owned for over 20 years but Danny's has been established for over 70 years. There's a reason why they have been around for so long and that's the hot dog chili recipe that has made this place for all these years. Old Greek family secret recipe that takes 4 hours to make. Can't rush this secret recipe or it will not taste the same. Great hidden gem and one of Norfolk's longest landmark.

My dad used to take me here as a kid and I've followed our tradition with my siblings and nieces. If you want a small mom and pop type atmosphere with freshly made food, this is the place to go. It's a family owned restaurant with great service. They have a nice little selection of hotdogs and a variety of many other deli favorites. Delicious!

I wasn't sure whether to try this place, but this is now my third time here. It's a whole in the wall, but it only makes it better! Delicious hot dogs and they use good potato bread buns. The service is friendly and very attentive. Dine in or car hop service both are great. Love the smoothies and onion rings too!

On The Corner, kind, caring service, and a tap on the horn will get you curb service.

5-Star Dive! Family-owned and operated. Classic Americana. Hot Dogs! Hamburgers, Onion Rings. A breakfast, brunch and lunch offering. Even a smoothie list...! I haven't ventured deep into the menu - I will let a true fan of Danny's do that!

Outside Danny's Hot Dogs. No matter where we are when we visit Va Beach, we make it over at least once.

What a surprise!…read more We had a quick bite here before going to the Chartway Arena for a show and my husband wanted something for lunch. It was packed, probably with people doing what we were doing, but there were several seats at the bar so we snagged three and were greeted pretty quickly by a very friendly waitress. She made recommendations at my husband's request and suggested the special which was two hotdogs with topping of your choice, half order of fries or tots and a drink. He went with that and we ordered a single cheeseburger for our toddler. Food was out quickly - probably less than 10 minutes and the burgers and fries were piping hot and very good. My husband was pleased. Their menu is much larger than I expected with tons of burgers, sandwiches, some salads and other things. Our waitress and a few others checked on us while we ate to ensure we didn't need anything. Very good service. I think we will definitely come back.

It's one of the few old school Hot Dog Shops that still feature the iconic Norfolk Dog. The spot closes at 3pm each day. There was plenty of time to stop. The location is on Azalea Garden Road about 2 blocks north of Princess Anne Road. Don't expect a picturesque spot. This building is located in the midst of warehouses, car repair shops & such. Lew's was obviously packed with people wanting those few last days of the wonderful Norfolk Dogs. Parking was around the front & side of the shop & on the street. Even the "no parking" area was filled. We stepped directly into an earlier time. And I loved it. Seating was mainly around the counter. I would have loved to have eaten there. But we had just had donuts in Ghent. So we ordered at the cramped takeout counter, The cook, who I suspect was the owner's wife, cooked on a small grill near the front window. A young man took the orders, writing each takeout order on a paper bag for the cook. The proprietor busily did everything. He was personable & funny. He had his rules, just like his long gone competitors, We sat at the counter and talked to a customer who had driven down from Arlington. He obviously knew the place well as the owner bantered with him. When our order was ready we left, a little sad that we couldn't stay and eat. It had been so much fun. The Norfolk Dogs were wonderful. They're snap dogs, customarily served only with mustard, chili & onions. Lew's did allow other condiments added, even serving French fries. You could get thrown out of some of his former competitors for asking for catsup or potato chips. There must be a return before they close. I want to sit and eat at the counter. I want to come out with that familiar smell of onions in my hair. By the way, they're still open to selling the shop. It comes with the secret recipe for their chili sauce. Norfolk Dog lovers need this eatery to remain open. Don't let them be lost to time.

On the way home from the Yelp Event at O's Donuts, I remembered Lew's was closing this weekend. Luckily Lew's was right on our way home so we decided to stop and get orders to go. We walked in to a packed house and lots of others placing orders to go. Cash only signs were posted in several places so I was prepared when it was my turn to order and pay. Everyone was friendly and greeted each other and engaged in conversation. I felt like I had stepped back in time to a kinder, gentler place. I'm very sad that we are losing another piece of Norfolk history. The hotdogs were just as good as I remembered, as well as their French fries. One thing that caught my attention as we waited was the stools at the counter. This old Norfolk girl immediately said to my Friend, "these aren't stools, they are chairs with backs on them just like the lunch counters in Peoples Drug Store and Woolworth's when I was a kid." Loved this little walk down memory lane today. Happy retirement Lew, You will be missed.

The man working there was welcoming and very friendly! Service was wonderful. There are plenty of hot dogs to choose from, and there are plenty of options for hot and cold toppings. Went with the pittie dogs, fries, and chocolate cheesecake brownie. A good, simple hot dog! Fries were crispy and warm. Brownie was pretty good and sweet. I look forward to trying the other items on the menu like the bratwurst. Another cool thing I noticed is for their rewards system instead of it saying points on the receipt, it says "spots"! How creative and fun is that! I love how they kept the dog theme even for things people often overlook. Definitely a fun, little spot for affordable hot dogs! Try it out for yourselves!
