Brought my relatives from Texas to dine in and they are obsessed! This is some of the best BBQ we've ever had! Great staff, great food, and overall just a great place. The craving for BBQ wouldn't stop haunting me, so I finally gave in. The prices can add up quickly so I opted to get all sides and eat it with a meat from home. That's how you ball on a budget. Lol. Just get it!! 8.5/10 Baked beans: they were decent baked beans with a few pieces of brisket in it. They went well with the other sides. 7/10 Mississippi mud pie: Lawd have mercy! If you like chocolate pudding this will peak your interest. Its chocolate pudding that has a marshmallow in the middle and graham cracker crust. Ughhh, I enjoyed it so much I still think about it.. if your a big back like me, adding it to a brownie will set it off to a whole different level!!! 10/10 The sweet BBQ sauce was Memphis heat, and the white sauce were my top picks. The Nashville hot, knocked my socks off, it was spicy spicy!! But It was good. I mixed them and it mellowed out. I enjoyed my meal. It definitely put me into a food coma shortly thereafter!! Lol. This place is amazing! I love the outward display of honoring our Military Branches and supports first responders of all branches with the various patches and memorabilia decorating the walls. It's awesome to see! The service was good. The food was a good size and flavorful. The my have various sauce bottles on the table which are labeled and give details of the heat level. I had the pulled chicken sandwich with cheesy potatoes. This potatoes were delish. I would say they are a a version of scalloped potatoes. The sandwhich comes plain but you add the sauce of your choice. My son ordered the brisket and pulled chicken with fries. It also came with cornbread. The food here was absolutely scrumptious. I love that the servers are so hands-on when ordering. I did not know what I wanted to order and they recommended some of the best items. The cornbread was delicious, but not too sweet. The ribs were cooked to perfection and seasoned exceptionally. All of the sides were delicious as well. I love the diversity of the menu. I had never had their turkey before and it was a hit. I didn't have anything that I did not like. The desserts were huge. This is definitely some of the best barbecue that I've had in a long time. I am a big fan of Mission BBQ! Over the years, I've been to several in and out of the area, but this is our first time at the Virginia Beach location. We met up with some friends here on a Friday evening around 6pm. They weren't really busy yet so we were able to score a big table. I opted for a side order of brisket and a garden green salad. I love barbecue and as a visitor to Virginia Beach for the first time we had such a great experience and meal here. The staff was so Attentive when we entered. It was hard to decide for 4 people What to have for lunch. We opted for 1/2 pound each of brisket, pork baby back ribs and pulled pork. For sides we opted for Mac and cheese, collard greens and cole slaw which each came with a small side the corn meal bread. The first think I noticed is that the brisket has a little steam of fat across the middle. But what I noticed the most was that the brisket was so moist and tender - just like how it was in Austin Texas. It was delicious! The pork ribs were fall off The gone tender and the pulled Pork was yummy. All the sides were Excellent. We had enough leftovers for 2 to enjoy lunch the next day. There was an employee named Beth and she took so good care of us! She brought us all the takeout containers and cutlery and sauces. One of each kind - 6 bbq sauces. Was in town from Dallas and found Mission BBQ and boy was that the right call coming here for lunch. The brisket and jalapeño sausage were great. So many BBQ sauces and they each were super solid. The place is clean and organized. I ordered the 2 meat sampler plate with ribs and moist brisket. The brisket is very moist, and the meat on the ribs came off so easily. In addition, i had coleslaw and baked beans. There were at least 6 different sauces to choose from on your table. I chose the Texas Tangy. It wasn't too spicy, but you could taste the little kick. every time I come here, it's been great, love, the brisket! The cornbread isn't very good, but everything else is great!

I was so excited to try this place, specifically because I heard their brisket was amazing and they offer burnt ends, which are my FAVORITE (usually). Word of advice... don't get them. I ordered a two meat plate, with the brisket burnt ends and the jalapeño cheddar sausage. Neither of them were good, but the burnt ends were rock hard and flavorless. Literally inedible. I order burnt ends whenever I go to a quality BBQ restaurant and love that they are always tender with nice flavor and char. These seemed as if they had been sitting out, dry, for the whole day. It was even more disappointing because I watched them cut a new brisket as I ordered which looked tender and juicy and that is OBVIOUSLY not what I was served. The jalapeño cheddar sausage had potential, but also just seemed as though it had been sitting out for a very long time. It was dry. Sides were the best part. I got the mac and cheese which was quite good and the only reason I am leaving 2 stars instead of 1. The collard greens were decent, as well. Cornbread, another dry fail. Part of me would like to give this place another shot since the atmosphere was good, but I'm hesitant because prices weren't cheap. read more

Keep in mind I'm expecting a nice juicy brisket and shredded/pulled chicken with amazing flavors. Maaaan, I received one of the best shredded chicken flavors and good serving size I've ever had. The brisket though is what stops me from giving 5-star service. It was soo dry. Literally had to eat it with my baked beans to make it easy to chew and swallow. Then there was the baked beans, I expected nice and saucy, but when that sauce is just bbq sauce it becomes a little too much. This Mission BBQ is located in a shopping center just north of the I-264 Interchange on the northbound side of Independence Blvd. It is on the corner of that shopping center, with Red Wing Shoes next door. My visit here was on March 6, 2020. When you come inside, you will see the theme for decor being Military inspired, including thanks for all those who have served. You'll see the ordering area to the back from the entrance and there is quite a bit of seating in here as well. The menu is located up at the ordering area. The staff were ready for us once we were ready to order. It wasn't too busy at that time. After looking over the menu inside, I ended up going with the Pulled Chicken BBQ XXL combo with fries and macaroni and cheese. Cornbread comes with the meal. My mom was with me and she went with brisket on that one. A few minutes after ordering, our orders were ready to pick up. The cornbread was nice and moist, as well as soft. The pulled chicken was good as well. There were six different sauces to choose from at the tables as well. Overall, the chicken was good and so was the brisket according to my mom. In the end, this was a solid first time visit here. It's a bit further away from where I am, so I won't be able to come here more often, but I would come back again. If you are up near the Town Center section of the city and looking for BBQ, this is definitely a viable option. read more

This place is amazing for a fast food chain. I didn't catch her name but she helped us clean up our table after an accidental spill and she was funny and kind. The portions are huge especially since every restaurant seems to be shrinking. We apparently picked the right time, it was roughly 5 pm on a Saturday when we visited and we were served right away and as soon as we sat down there was a line forming almost out the door! Their service is pretty quick though so hopefully the line moved relatively fast. It's a pretty spacious restaurant with tons of tables. The staff is somewhat friendly. I always ride past Mission BBQ but I never go in. this time I decided I would give it a try! they let me sample the pulled pork and I was shocked when a staff member asked what brought me to the store and made conversation! Now let's get to the point... let's start with cornbread it was incredibly dry and it wasn't sweet and actually has literal corn in it, lol. The brisket was okay, the sweet heat bbq sauce I put on it made it better. The Mac and cheese was very mid (below average). The green beans were salty and overcooked. The cheesy potatoes were mid. The caramel bread pudding was the best side it reminded me of apple pie. The pulled pork was super dry (how you mess up pork and you're a bbq spot is beyond me). The bun was also very dry, you could tell it was cheap bread. (for as much as their food cost, you would think they would at least spring for some potato buns, smh). Coleslaw was also very mid. The lemonade was good, and they have it where you can add lemons in your beverage. I paid over fifty dollars for an overall MID experience. I was buying steel toes boots at red wings next door when I noticed this place , it was close to lunch time and I asked the redwing sales man if he recommended them. He told me he had to be careful or he would be a lot heavier .. said the food was amazing and recommended their brisket... I wandered next door and chatted with a lady in line she too raved about their brisket and the business being veteran owned.
