First time since new owners took over. Food was mediocre at best... So overpriced. I ordered a Greek salad and was given FOUR pieces of tiny cut up pieces of chicken that were an add on... I'm talking smaller than a nugget. Server was nice enough. We were the only people here. They brought 3 more tiny chunks of chicken when I asked. I shouldn't have had to. Kids chicken tender meal was SO bad. I couldn't figure out why my daughter wouldn't eat it so I tried a piece of chicken. It was dry and completely salty. Not just a little bit salty, inedible. The $10 Bypass Salad was underwhelming--mostly shredded lettuce with very little else, and definitely not worth the price. The wings seemed baked instead of fried and were overly drenched in sauce, which took away from the flavor and texture. My burger was decent and probably the highlight of the meal, but the fries fell short and didn't complement it well. Service also seemed a bit off. I've been here twice now, and unfortunately both visits were disappointing in different ways. On our first visit, I ordered a hamburger. The patties were noticeably small, and mine was cooked well beyond well-done--dry and crispy. The fries, however, were actually very good, and the service that day was friendly and attentive. Hoping it was just an off day, we came back a second time--but the experience didn't improve. The service felt unfriendly this time around, which immediately changed the atmosphere. We ordered the nachos, and they were overcooked and looked like they were thrown together without much care--definitely not what you'd expect when dining out. We also tried the Easter Egg flight, which was $27. For that price, we expected something a bit more impressive, but the drinks were about the size of shots, had no garnish, and overall just didn't feel worth it. One of them even had a taste similar to cough medicine. We had originally planned to stay for lunch during our second visit, but after what we experienced, we decided we had enough and left. Friendly right as we came in. It was no busy for a casual Valentine's Day dinner. Mocktail & cocktail were both delicious. We ordered a ranch burger and a bacon burger smashed style. Both medium well. Burger came out medium rare & bacon burger had no bacon. GM & server were both very apologetic and food was swiftly remade. They were then decent burgers although nothing super special. I was enjoying my fries a lot until the GM came back & told me that they weren't the good fries but backup fries and not to judge them by them. ‍ They said they were trying to go for a younger crowd because the original restaurants demographic was too old but the demographic he listed included us so that was a bit of a turn off. As was the cursing from the GM during conversation. We laughed it off but it wasn't quite the vibe we go for. But perhaps that is because we are too old. The server didn't write anything down. Then came back again to verify my order. When the food arrived she sat a bacon cheeseburger in front of me. So. This lil hidden gem has been hiding way on the side of Target for...9 1/2 years!!!! WHAT! Very homie atmosphere with cute decor to match their name! We came for lunch during my daughter's break. We sat at the bar and was quickly greeted by the server/bartender Tarah (who was super sweet). We ordered the burger (thanks to Tarah), organic grass fed beef - ah yeah , I'll take that!!!! It was great! Fresh tomato, very green butter lettuce, toasted bun, fresh jalapeño, and sauteed onions. Sooo good. My daughter got the shrimp tacos and loved them!! We both had fries as a side and they are straight from the potato! Yum town. I especially like the condiments they put out - spicy mustard, regular mustard, ketchup, and malt vinegar. Badass!!! This place used to be a favorite of ours. Walked in and noticed that everything was very different and bare. I asked if it had changed hands and the sever ( who introduced himself as the GM) replied yes it had and that the only thing that would change is the ' diversity in hiring ' process. We ordered a burger, chicken sandwich and a bowl of 'home made French onion soup'. After waiting 52 minutes for food !!!! The chicken was black ( drenched in some icky burnt honey). The onion soup was extremely salty and the burger was tasteless. Maybe the focus should be on quality food and timely service instead of hiring 'diverse' staff. Very disappointed with our experience tonight. Service was bad, out of a bunch of different stuff. The heat did not seem to be working. It took 45 minutes to get wings which were awful. My nachos came out the chips were over cooked and they tasted bad. We canceled the burger. Multiple other tables left. I'm impressed with this restaurant. Our party of three came in on a Saturday early evening for dinner. We had no wait and our server came immediately. The restaurant had a pretty cool vibe with street signs all over, and they had dollar bills pinned to the ceiling. The restaurant was pretty clean. I ordered a cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. The cheeseburger was delicious. My sweet potato fries could have been cooked longer, they were a bit soggy. But they were seasoned well. The rest of my party ordered a cheeseburger as well, only with french fries. We also ordered a crab dip appetizer and to be honest, this was the favorite of the table. Service was completely lackluster. I ordered a grilled chicken breast sandwich for $12.99 and a side of green beans. The chicken breast was completely flavorless (not even salted) and I only got 10 regular size green beans as my side. They also charge you for every little thing that you get, so my friend who got a crabcake got charged because she wanted both tartar sauce and cocktail sauce on the side. My daughter got charged for a piece of cheese that wasn't even actually ever put onto her sandwich, and my husband got an upcharge for having sautéed onions instead of raw onions on his sandwich. Food took forever to come out, even though there was only a couple of people at the bar other than us eating. I had the NC pulled pork sandwich with homemade coleslaw and I will say it was the best NC pulled pork sandwich I have had in a very very long time. Hubby and I really enjoyed our time here for an early lunch this past weekend. We stopped in around 11:15 and the place was quiet - only a few other diners at the bar. We picked a spot, as directed, and perused the two-sided menu and the happy hour specials listed by the bar. Our server, Bonnie (and one of the owners if I googled correctly), was incredibly pleasant and helpful with the menu. She offered a few suggestions, and made our toddler smile - always a plus. We decided on a couple of beers, the Chicken Caesar Wrap that was on special and the Burger. All of the sandwiches and wraps come with choice of a side. They have several listed and noted one on special - an apple broccoli slaw. I ordered the slaw with my wrap and hubby had the fries with his medium-well burger. While we waited, a couple of other diners arrived and were greeted by name - they know their regulars! There's an easy view of the kitchen and I could see Bonnie prepping some food while we waited sans gloves.. eek! Our food arrived quickly and was salivating to look at. Hubby's burger was cooked well, but had a lot of char on the outside so I'm guessing they're cooked on an open flame. Not his preference, but I love a good char. He did like the flavor of his burger. And those fries!? The best... hand-cut! So delicious! I loved my wrap. It had a ton of chicken, just the right amount of dressing and cheese. Tons of flavor. The slaw special was also really tasty! Decided to try somewhere new today for lunch and am glad I did! The egg salad sandwich was delicious and the French fries were awesome - hot and crispy and fresh! I also had the veggie fried sampler which was tasty, too! I do wish the jalapeños were spicy, but I really enjoyed the fried pickles and the mushrooms with the homemade ranch and horse radish sauces. I wasn't thrilled with the lemonade but that is probably just preference. The staff were busy but continued to be friendly and attentive which I appreciated. Was rolling up to Target at Edinburgh North in Chesapeake and made an impulse decision to stop and grab a bite to eat (based on Yelp reviews). We got in just before they stopped serving customers. The welcome was a little underwhelming, when the first thing the waitress told us was that they closed at 7:00 p.m., so we only had 30 minutes to eat. Okay.... We watched 3 different groups get turned away just minutes after we arrived. I wonder if the owner is aware of the potential business they are losing in this tough time for all restaurants. Regardless, my wife ordered a gin & tonic (last call is at 6:30 p.m.) and the crabcakes meal (she opted for a baked potato as her side). I ordered their cheeseburger with fries. Our meals were very good and convinced me to come back at another time, when we had more time to have a relaxed meal. The waitress was attentive and checked on us several times. When she asked if we wanted dessert, my wife ordered their strawberry cake to go. It was all very much homemade. The dessert was delicious! This is a little bar & grill, casual ambience, and they seem to comply strictly with COVID restrictions. Everyone was spread out and the areas were cleaned thoroughly after each group left. This place has lots of potential but we had a small issue. I did not take pictures sorry. We order crab dip, bean and sweet potato soup, salad and a burger. Crap dip was good no issues pita chips were also fine. The soup was solid very nice I was told that the mix it up often so if the others are of the same quality it's worth it. Salad was salad nothing special. The problem was the burger, we asked for it medium rare, and it was raw in the middle. They use a flame grill so the outside had the charred bits that I like but they did not take the temp before serving. We told them and they took the meat and put it back on the grill and tried to give it back to us. I feel like that was a little wrong. I don't know the food safety protocol but I feel like it should have been discarded. They were very apologetic and removed it from the check but I feel like they missed the mark. So I want to preface this by saying Gayle was a sweetheart. Very patient, very attentive. She wanted us to have a great experience. NOW to a 2/5 star review with 5 star service. So I ordered a pulled pork platter it came with fries and slaw but me and slaw are oil and water so I told them keep it in the back. That meal came with a super salad (soup or salad, but IYKYK) I listened and the soups of "today" were jerk pork soup and 3 sausage cabbage soup. Red flags were flying but my ex was lowkey six flags so I guess red flags don't scare me. Anyways. I opted for the jerk pork. What a mistake. It tasted like the pork was jerked around by European hands and set inside of chicken noodle soup broth with celery and carrots but then at the last moment the little chicken pieces were handpicked out and this was placed in a crockpot on keep warm for 3 days. I politely informed gayle this wasn't for me. She offered the 3 sausage in place of... I was conflicted because wow what great service but also..... why you want me to try this food so bad Gayle??? You my FBI agent and today my day. Anyways I politely said I don't want to waste but I would like to try. Bring me a small portion she gladly did and Informed me if I liked it she could fill the bowl if I didn't I could have a salad.... We love Gayle. We really do. This soup tasted like the sausage had been cooked into mush, in short. Then my entree came. I want to shorten this up but I also want to send you on a wild ride with me right. So boom. My pulled pork had what appeared to be sautéed onions in it. I mean.... Might as well have been raisins. And it was wet, like to the touch. Scary scary scary scary sight. Did not finish. Fries were cool, nothing to call your mom and tell her her cooking stinks for but like definitely would alleviate a hangover/ prep the body for an alcohol imbalance. Cool little set up though.
