I'm such a fan of Cracker Barrel pancakes. They are the best pancakes I've ever had. We have all been to Cracker Barrel many times. It's comfortable, familiar, always a good time. Great food and usually pretty good service. No better pancakes. read more

It wasn't bad, but still probably the worst experience I've had at a Cracker Barrel. That's a testament to how good most locations are. Based on the low overall rating, this location must not be run very well. The service and staff were very friendly and our food came out quickly, so no issues there. Inside is typical CB old school country/farm decor. The problem was the food quality. The scrambled eggs were overcooked to the point of being rubbery, and the biscuits were very hard, like they'd been sitting for a long time. Even covering the biscuits with gravy made them barely edible. The bacon was decent, just a little fatty. And the hash brown casserole was pretty good but a little salty for my liking. So the staff were friendly and service quick, just not good food quality. Glad this isn't my local CB so I don't have to eat here again. read more

Through the years I've always enjoyed cracker barrel restaurants. The fried Catfish has always been my go-to for lunch, and each location I visited was pretty consistent. However, this particular location seems to be in a category all by itself. I was in the area a couple weeks ago doing some holiday shopping and decided to stop in for a quick meal. It wasn't lunchtime yet, but when I mentioned to the server that I always get the fried Catfish she referred me to a breakfast meal where I could select my own meat. Perfect! I really only wanted the catfish, but she said that was the meal I should order. I asked for 2 pieces of fish like I always received with my lunch order, and she asked me a couple more questions. That was it. Now the meal was not very good. The eggs were a little too runny, but since I really didn't want eggs anyway I just let it go. The fish also seemed as if it was pulled out a little too soon. I obviously should said something, but at the time I told myself it was fine and let it go. However, when I got the bill they charged $11.99 for the second piece of fish! I figured this had to be a mistake! I imagined that a good server would've definitely mentioned (when they recommended a meal in the first place) that a second meat option woulth cost the same as the WHOLE MEAL! But, the server just shrugged her shoulders and said the price comes from corporate. That's fine, but couldn't you have said something at least as a courtesy. Again, she just shrugged her shoulders and walked off. Wow. At the register i told the manager the same thing. How about you let people know about this in the future. He said the same thing, but it was how rude and dismissing he was. Since I missed that bit of information on the menu (even though i still feel she could've mentioned that outrageous price hike) then I'll take the L, but there's nothing to excuse the way I was treated. The rudeness and utter disregard for the situation is unforgivable and the fondness I've had for year for this establishment is gone. I've worked in customer service for many years and understand the importance in how you treat your customers. It's unfortunate that they seem to have missed that bit of training. Not only will I never visit this restaurant again, but the tainted memory has cause me to lose the desire for a meal I've always loved. read more

I have always loved Cracker Barrel. Growing up, when my dad was the age I am now, we would always stop at Cracker Barrel on road trips. Now living near one, I was ecstatic. However, the last year to 18 months, I have noticed a consistent decline in the food quality. The service is always wonderful, but something in the kitchen has gone awry. With rising prices and declining quality, after a recent breakfast where my French toast tasted like French fries with burnt ends, I've decided to exclude Cracker Barrel in my future culinary outings. read more

Not only do they have great comfort food, but they have a great giftshop too. I was elated to see chicken and dumplings on the menu. And even more elated after I tasted it. Portions were hearty. My side dish was hashbrown casserole. I mean, come on. I was in heaven. Afterwards, bought some cool Christmas ornaments and old school candy. Made me a happy girl. read more

Wow! What a change. I haven't been to this Cracker Barrel in over 4 years (since my review). I went last week and it was excellent. I went again this week and had the same experience. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was good. It felt like the same Cracker Barrel that I know and love. They seem to have resolved the issues. The pot roast used to be incredible--comforting and truly like a home-cooked meal--but this time it tasted generic, almost like it came from a can. It was extremely disappointing, made with a cheaper cut of meat and served with only carrots and one or two tiny onions. read more

Our server names Lucy S didn't bring our biscuits out until the same time we got our food, which renders them pointless. We also had ordered a steak medium rare and it came out extremely undercooked. When it was brought to our servers attention , she stated the kitchen had been having issues with the meat thermometers as they are broken. She took the steak and 10 minutes later brought the same steak and sides back out that had already been cut into and left us with cold and dry mashed potatoes and cold shrimp. When this was brought to her attention she said she'd bring us biscuits "on the house" even though the biscuits are complimentary. Lucy also stated that there was nothing she could do about it since it was a meal and was speaking in a very demeaning tone even with me being as polite as possible throughout this whole experience. All of our food was also warm, not hot. Nothing we got was fresh and hot. The lady at the register was super nice and understanding and called over the manager so we could talk to her about our experience. It seemed as though this had been happening all night in the way she responded. They split off that portion of the meal so we didn't have to pay for something we couldn't even eat. read more

Another trip to the OBX and a stop at CB Hillcrest. Arrived around the lunch hour and surprised to be seated immediately on arrival. Kendra was our server. Managing a full load ain't easy and she did a great job for us! My son and I both ordered the Biscuit Benny. CB's answer to eggs Benedict. Biscuits used! My son had his with hash Browns, fried peaches and ham. I had the hash browns, fried apples and sausage. Gotta tell you the food was excellent. The negative? We never received ketchup and hot sauce. And my Half n Half was delivered and billed as unsweetened iced tea. No problem as everything was good and service excellent. Maybe we'll stop by again on the way home from the OBX. Cracker Barrel is a no brainer. I love their shop and always seem to find something in there while waiting for a table. We came for lunch and thought we would have enough time to eat and head back to work. I added my name to the wait list online prior to arriving so we got our table right ways and ordered our food right away but our food took forever to come out. The restaurant wasn't even busy. I'm guessing they were short staffed. At any rate the food was still good. My fave had to be the beignets with the pecan maple dipping sauce and my latter was really good too. The pancakes are always a must as well with the hot maple syrup in the mini glass bottle. It's a great place to eat and shop but if you are in a hurry and need a quick lunch, this isn't the go to spot. read more

I ordered the combo of meatloaf and chicken and dumplings. The chicken and dumplings were great, as usual. But the meatloaf was awful. It had bone and gristle in it, along with some pieces of fat. it was also a little on the mushy side. I'll have to the worst meatloaf I have ever eaten. It looked good on my plate, but tasted bad in my mouth. I will never order that again. My husband ordered the fried chicken breasts, so he traded me one of his breasts for my meatloaf. after a few bites, he told me I was , it does have bone and gristle in it. But he ate it anyway. That was a big turn-off for me. The service was great, and the rest of our food was really good. I won't let this stop me from going back to Cracker Barrel, but I won't be ordering that mystery again. read more

But come on. It's Cracker Barrel. First off. The server didn't even know they sold sourdough bread. How? I have no clue. Second, I order a side of sourdough toasted. This is what he brings out. Which is amazing in itself. Like this is your standard? The best part is he hid it under an untoasted piece. Like wtf. The dirtiest Cracker Barrel you will ever go to. Your feet slide all over the floor. Utensils filthy. Tables of dirty dishes that have never been bussed. The bottom of the plates are dirty. I have seen and had to interact with management there on multiple occasions and they could all care less and are unprofessional. The food is sub-par for what you are paying. I went to Cracker Barrel in Edinburgh Virginia. I ordered a strawberry mimosa. The waitress accidentally spilled 3/4 of the champagne on the floor and tray. She put the mimosa and champagne bottle on the table and said, "Oops sorry about that". I replied, "Do I get another bottle since most of it spilled"? Chance, the waitress said, "No, you get this bottle". I asked, "You spilled it, and I cannot have a new full bottle"? Chance said, "You can but I have to charge you for it and for this one too. It's our policy every time alcohol comes out on the floor we have to charge". I promptly asked for a manager. The manager arrived and repeated the same thing that our waitress, Chance said. I replied," Well charge her because she spilled it, and I haven't touched the bottle or the glass yet. The manager offered to bring another drink but failed to state if I would be charged or if the first drink would be discounted. Therefore, I declined the second drink offer and ended up drinking water. The moral of my story ... do NOT order alcohol at CB. And I will not go back to that restaurant. Side note - there was a jelly filled knife on the floor beside our table. That should have been my first clue to leave. read more

On our way home from OBX, we decided to stop for a sit down breakfast. We were greeted and sat right away, which was nice considering we were starving at that point. Our server took our drink order as we looked thru the menu. We got our drinks and ordered. It seemed to take some time before he brought out our meal & never checked to see if we wanted refills. We got our food and he never filled our coffee, so we ate with our drinks, and he was no where to be found. I had to ask another server for maple syrup because my friend ordered pancakes and he didn't bring out any syrup which was very odd to me! Finally when we were almost done our meal another server came and filled our coffee for us. I'm not sure if he was new or too busy talking in the back but the place was not that busy he couldn't have been on top of that. However, my food was delicious. read more

The food to me is always good which is unfortunate for this review. I recently went there to pick up an order and I didn't agree with some charges on my ticket. I was given no explanation for the charge, and it really wasn't about the money, but I felt I was being over charged in addition to being given no explanation. We live in the area and have been here about a dozen times. I think we've only had 1 not so great experience at this location, but other than that it's been great. Food is always fresh and delicious, service is always good and the bill is always pretty cheap. I'm not sure why it has such a low rating, I've been to many CB's and this one is one of the best. This was our first time at Cracker Barrel and probably will be our last. The restaurant wasn't busy and we were seated right away. It took a few min for the waitress to take our order order but this gave us time to look at the menu. When our breakfast arrived everything was cold. The over medium eggs still had runny whites. The breakfast sausage has a very heavy smoke flavor which over powered the meal. The only positive item were the tater tot potatoes. read more

Terrible!! Went there on 2/20/23 with my son. We were waited on promptly, but after an hour waiting for food to arrive we left. All our waitress kept saying was "sorry", even thought she waited on people who came in after us and delivered their food quickly. I sent a message to Cracker Barrel Guest Services but their response is just like their in-store service...non existent. Cracker Barrel service used to very good (pre-pandemic). We came to the Edinburgh location in Chesapeake VA. Sunday , September 29, 2024. The misunderstanding started with the server. My husband questioned the portion of the chicken and dumplings. He thought he was served a larger higher price portion. The server was agitated by his questions and got the manager to our table. A man showed up and did not identify himself as the manager. My husband had told the server that her attitude sucks and she replied to my husband "yours does also ". The manager said the waitress was right, put the bill on the table and told us to pay. He never even listened to my husbands complaint. As it turned out, the portion and price was correct, but my husband got up and said he was leaving without eating his food. He went to the cash register to pay the bill. The manager approached him and started another confrontation and told my husband to get the HELL out of his store. This was in front of the cashier and other customers. The manager incited the altercation. Worst service for a local Cracker Barrel. I tried to pay the bill, but a nice assistant manager came up to me, introduced himself, and said I only had to pay for one meal. read more

6/20/20 This is my first time ever eating at a Cracker Barrel.  My wife was kind enough to introduce to possibly something new.  I will say that since we are still in the Coronavirus pandemic, the restaurant is still under many restrictions. The six feet Social Distancing is still in effect.  No menu are in use. You will have to look up what you want online for the time being.  *On a personal note, after this Coronavirus thing ends, restaurant menus might be a thing of the past.*  This being said, the online menu is not up to date. This could be because of the Coronavirus and the restaurant is not offering full menu options, or I am wrong. If that is the case, than the online menus need a serious update.  I went with the blueberry pancakes and bacon.  I also tried the raspberry lemonade and soda water.  The pancakes were delicious and filled me up with the bacon. The bacon were of two slices. It wasn't a lot, but the bacon was nice and crispy. Mmm Mmm Good. I know the next time I will try the chicken and dumplings southern style. There was a fried type of vegetable that I can not remember the name of, but I will order this the next time I am here. The staff members I met here today were cheerful and helpful.  If one did not know the answer to a question, they went to find out. Example.  My wife hates pork and red meat. The biscuit were made in a bacon grease which would not make her happy. I am glad we asked before ordering the biscuits for her. Masks are required for all the personnel staff at Cracker Barrel,  but I saw nearly all customers walking around without a mask on.   Down in Suffolk Virginia, things are a little different. The food I had here to day just proved that.  I love it and want some more of it. On our way home, we will most likely come again. Oh, one more important thing. I saw no prices for the food one night want to order. This needs immediate attention for new customers. read more

This location is pretty decent and much better than most. Every time I have been here the staff tries their hardest to make their customers happy. We have ordered breakfast for takeout before and it's usually pretty good. Sometimes the wait is really long but that's usually on the weekends. We have also come here as a family for thanksgiving brunch (I guess that's what you would call it) mainly because my grandma prefers not to cook anymore and we typically have a big thanksgiving dinner later at our in-laws house. I usually always stick to the breakfast food there as a safe bet. Their "homemade" food that is on their lunch and dinner menu always looks like it comes out of a can or is prepackaged. I do enjoy their French toast and grits but if you're looking for real quality food then I would suggest going somewhere else besides a chain restaurant. read more

Today is Turkey day special at the Cracker Barrel. Today was the worst ever. The meal. was served ice cold to the table. There was very little people at noon ,it took 30 mins to get our cold food and another 30 mins to tell the server our problems and get out The server could care less and no manager ever came to our table. I don't know what has happened to this place but I used to love it now .NOT SO MUCH .the people are still very friendly waiters and waitresses are wonderful here's the but ..the food was pretty bad which was very unusual and the portions were smaller even less biscuits and corn bread the whole meal just sucked but being a fan of this place I just brushed it off ass maybe the cook was just having a bad night .The following month, my wife and I returned, and we always got the same thing, and again, it sucked the third time against my better judgment. I rarely leave anyone without tip. This place is outstanding, food is great but the service was questionable. Not only never got a refill although my cup was empty before food got served, but we were left with no cutlery after being served and had to ask for it after looking at my food for 5 minutes cause the waitress was running back and forward like she was in a hurry. I was given my receipt after served (and finally the cutlery arrived but not the refill, never had the pleasure to get one) and didn't see the waitress until I was done eating. Idk who our waitress was. Honestly she was nice and our food was correct but we waited over an hour to get it. In that hour after ordering we got zero refills or biscuits which stinks. But stuff happens. We were two families with 4 kids, 8 people total, waiting over an hour for cold food but when my friend asked the hostess who had sat another 4 tables(no they weren't busy, it was just an hour wait) if she had seen our waitress and a few moments later our waitress and two other kids come out. One of which was Miss Ruby who decides to ask out waitress, "what they couldn't have waited 3 more minutes?" It wasn't 3 minutes Ruby. It was over an hour. No one was rude to the waitress or even the two kids who helped bring everything out. The comment was unnecessary and passive aggressive of a pre teen with no manners. Was very disappointed ..the server was nice but not constant. Coffee came out Luke warm and half cup that cost 3.19 a cup. Never in my life have I paid $3.19 for a 1/2 a cup of coffee. The gravy came out with no sausage. I have never had gravy at Cracker Barrel without sausage. The waitress said the menu was changed just over a year ago. The gravy had absolutely no flavor just white flour and milk. And as I was eating the meal I overhear the manager of this particular cracker barrel talking about a customer very negatively with staff Because another customer ordered a poached egg and learned that the egg was put in grease and complained ..well FYI manager .... a poached egg is not put in grease once it is in grease it is fried so the customer had every reason to complain...maybe they had a health condition and could not have grease did you ever think of that... But I should not have heard your conversation at my table. That was very unprofessional.. Then I overheard you say in a couple of weeks.
