Thumbs up and a big smile from my breakfast date!

I love to bring my young son here for special breakfast "dates." The staff is always friendly to him and very patient when I let him practice ordering for himself. The service here has been spotty on occasion, but server Kaylee was perfectly attentive on our most recent two visits. The food at this location is consistently good, and I appreciate that my scrambled eggs with cheese are never overcooked and my hash browns are always crispy. For a casual American breakfast, the cost and quality of Waffle House on Mount Pleasant is hard to beat.

Brand new to the area and it is the only reason why I bothered to try it. Why? The place hasn't been wrecked by the crowds yet. Still, the place was pretty crowded when we got in. We ended up placing our order before we got seated so we could just pass it to our waitress once we were seated. We ended up getting a corner booth and my nieces got a couple chairs near us. We submitted our order and it came out pretty fast. I got the steak and eggs with shredded hash extra crispy and my friend got the all american special. My meal was good except for the steak. It tasted like it was boiled rather than cooked on a flat top. My friend thought there was too much pepper on it. My friend's meal was good and she got the chocolate chip waffle to go with it. The only complaints was about the eggs since she asked for them to be over medium and an egg was cooked over hard. The waffle was good, but the chocolate chips are better inside the batter and I prefer a crispier waffle. As for the service, it looks like the place is still working out their issues. There was some lack of communication on who should be seated first from all of us that were waiting, but the guy looks like he's training the staff. He did his best to make the place run smoothly and he did his best to get our food out to us quickly. Overall, this seems to be like a one time deal for me. The place serves reasonably priced food, but it's food I can make way better at home.

I don't know why people love Waffle House, maybe it is just good drunk food. It reminds me of the free breakfast at hotels. The do-it-yourself waffles with mediocre breakfast eggs/bacon. One thing I will say that it is cheap. I was thinking chocolate chip waffles meant it'd be in the batter. they just threw a bunch of mini chocolate chips on top of the waffle.. what. So if you want some cheap breakfast food and are too lazy to cook it yourself, or you need a post-drinking meal, this is your place!

Had a wonderful breakfast to start our day heading to Busch gardens!

There are multiple TVs playing at the same time, all different channels too. I thought that was interesting. There are pictures of cars everywhere and photos of people with their cars on the wall. I really enjoyed the cheeseburger and fries. (they write little messages on top of the buns. I'm just glad the one on mine wasn't rude or anything.) The banana pudding was really good too. The sweet tea was good enough for more than one refill. My server was very nice and seemed to be working hard. The place seemed clean. As it is, they are proudly "women-owned" and I think that's pretty cool. Cars, food, and chicks. Definitely a win-win-win for any dude out there that's into that stuff. Some of the older gentlemen at one of the tables near me tonight were certainly letting their voices be heard and not all of them were nice. So maybe there aren't that many left. One of them decided to go behind the counter and play with the dirty dishes. I'm not exactly sure what his deal was. Only complaints: the bathroom was gender-neutral, which could cause problems and just makes me feel uncomfortable, personally. It's also a one-person deal, which is a double-edged sword at best. And behind a couple of the booths, in the corner of the dining room, there is a play area set up for whom I assume are small children. That could get intrusive and annoying if it's a busy day. It seems really out of place and unnecessary. Especially when there are creepy dolls, Mini-Walmart shopping carts, and a full pretend kitchen set that gives off an "anything you can do, I can do better" vibe. If there are any friendly competitions between the cook and the kids on who can prepare a better meal in the future, I wouldn't be surprised. There are also lots of ads and photos printed onto the tables, which makes it very awkward to eat your food while a bunch of faces are staring back up at you. I just put stuff over the creepy images while I'm there, which is what I recommend if it bothers you as well. However, they did have little packs of marmalade at each table, so I'll be back for sure.

It is now 2:45PM over an hour later and we are still waiting with no updates from staff. I completely understand that lunch rushes happen, but communication is basic customer service. If the kitchen is running this far behind, customers deserve to be told upfront so they can make an informed decision. I was waiting in the car with my toddler, who fell asleep around 1:30 PM while we were still waiting. Sitting in a parking lot for over an hour with no communication is unacceptable. If you value your time, I would not recommend ordering to-go from here. Respect for customers' time clearly isn't a priority. Updated Finally received our food at 3:45 to only be left more disappointed by the portion sizes. Only received one piece of fish for a dinner, yams are not homemade and Mac and cheese was dry. They offered a free drink at 2:40 pm which doesn't nearly compensate for time. They continued to take orders by phone and in person and couldn't handle demand. At a point when your kitchen is over 2 hours behind, you need to push out the orders you already have and turn people away. I would much rather have been turned away and to try them on a different day with a coupon.

I got a chance to visit the baseball themed, Studly last week and enjoyed everything there. Although Im a novice when it comes to beers, I do know that local brewery that brews all of their beers on site is quite impressive. Upon sitting at the bar and openly admitting that I no clue what wanted or would like, the owner took his time to ask me questions and give me a lesson on beers and flavors and made some great suggestions. I ended up trying the Nana Ball Hefeweizen. A German style been. Not being a beer drinker, I enjoyed it. The food , ohhh the food. I may not know beer, I do know a good slice when I have one. Didn't try a pizza that I didn't love. My favorite was the 4 corner pan pizzas (that will be added to the menu soon) and the Fig and prosciutto. Must try!! Fresh ingredients, great flavors.

On Wednesdays they have Pub Quiz at 6:30 PM & 7:30 PM and it's free to play the trivia game. Although it was quite loud during the Pub Quiz game, we still enjoyed our dinner catching up with our good friends. It was my first visit to Studly and I've heard good reviews. Studly Brewing is a spacious, family friendly restaurant and brewery that offers a wonderfully casual, bright, and fun vibe with its exciting baseball themed decor that easily brings a smile to everyone's face. The servers were friendly and welcoming. We decided to try the Full Count Nachos from the Spring Menu, and the Figley Field wood-fired pizza looked appetizing. Our food order came out pretty quickly. OH MY! The freshness of the Figley Field pizza and the tasty combination of its ingredients (fig spread topped with bacon crumbles, prosciutto, red onion, goat cheese crumble, and mozzarella on house-made dough where the pizza is finished with fresh arugula on top) made it my new favorite! And I also enjoyed the Hazy IPA that our server Taylor said was her favorite. Looking forward to stopping into Studly Brewing again very soon! I know I'm sure to find a few more new favorites on their menu.

We began with a garden salad, a straightforward but well-executed mix of fresh greens, tomato, cucumber, red onion, and croutons, finished with a balsamic vinaigrette. Crisp, balanced, and properly dressed, it set a solid foundation for the meal. For the main course, we opted for chicken wings and a side of onion rings. The wings arrived piping hot, juicy, and well-prepared. While we ordered them on the spicier side, the heat level was more restrained than expected--flavorful, but lacking the assertive kick that true heat seekers might be looking for. The onion rings, by contrast, delivered exactly as hoped: crisp, golden, and satisfying, with a clean bite and no excess grease. Overall, the experience was an enjoyable one--uncomplicated, well-executed, and comfortable. It's a place we'll gladly return to, especially for a relaxed meal at the bar.
