All my years living in Chesapeake and I had never heard of Studly Brewing but I'm so glad that I finally did. I got a chance to visit the baseball themed, Studly last week and enjoyed everything there. Although Im a novice when it comes to beers, I do know that local brewery that brews all of their beers on site is quite impressive. Upon sitting at the bar and openly admitting that I no clue what wanted or would like, the owner took his time to ask me questions and give me a lesson on beers and flavors and made some great suggestions. I ended up trying the Nana Ball Hefeweizen. A German style been. Not being a beer drinker, I enjoyed it. The food , ohhh the food. I may not know beer, I do know a good slice when I have one. Didn't try a pizza that I didn't love. My favorite was the 4 corner pan pizzas (that will be added to the menu soon) and the Fig and prosciutto. Must try!! We've been planning to meet our friends for dinner at Studly Brewing for a few weeks now, especially since we live in Chesapeake. We finally made it happen this evening! On Wednesdays they have Pub Quiz at 6:30 PM & 7:30 PM and it's free to play the trivia game. Although it was quite loud during the Pub Quiz game, we still enjoyed our dinner catching up with our good friends. It was my first visit to Studly and I've heard good reviews. Studly Brewing is a spacious, family friendly restaurant and brewery that offers a wonderfully casual, bright, and fun vibe with its exciting baseball themed decor that easily brings a smile to everyone's face. The servers were friendly and welcoming. We decided to try the Full Count Nachos from the Spring Menu, and the Figley Field wood-fired pizza looked appetizing. Our food order came out pretty quickly. OH MY! The freshness of the Figley Field pizza and the tasty combination of its ingredients (fig spread topped with bacon crumbles, prosciutto, red onion, goat cheese crumble, and mozzarella on house-made dough where the pizza is finished with fresh arugula on top) made it my new favorite! And I also enjoyed the Hazy IPA that our server Taylor said was her favorite. Looking forward to stopping into Studly Brewing again very soon! First off, the aesthetic is really nice especially if you're into sports. They clearly paid attention to detail when designing the space. The tables are covered in baseball cards, there are baseball-themed photos on the walls, and even the bathrooms are decorated. The women's restroom has two murals inspired by A League of Their Own, which I loved. There's also a The Sandlot movie reference in the restaurant. It's definitely a fun spot for baseball fans. Even though it's a brewery, it's very family-friendly. They allow kids and have thoughtful touches like smaller toilet seats and a little kids' area. That stood out to me. They have a good selection of draft beers. I tried a Hazy and a vanilla-flavored one. I'm not a big beer drinker, but I can see someone who enjoys craft beer liking them. Now the pizza. The pizza was REALLY good. They have a wide variety: classic cheese and pepperoni, margherita, sweet and salty options, and even something close to Chicago-style deep dish. The deep dish had the perfect crunch on the bottom without being overcooked crispy underneath and soft everywhere else. The thin crust was also done perfectly. Everything tasted very fresh. When you bite into the pepperoni, you can actually taste the pork. Same with the bacon, cheese, onions all the toppings were flavorful and fresh, and each ingredient really stood out. I can't say enough great things about this brewery. I love their sour beer. Their food is so good. Everything we've had has been delicious. And their cauliflower crust is even better than their regular crust, wild I know. Also, they have an area where kids can just play and be free and that makes our dinner so much more enjoyable. Came here for a wonderful Yelp event. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, if they were overwhelmed I definitely didn't notice! Great ambiance and FANTASTIC food. I call that the baseball fan trifecta! So let's dive deeper into the food and drinks offered. I tried one of their brewed on site beers called Nana Ball which was a delicious hefeweizen. It paired well with their artisanal pizzas. I tried their traditional pizzas and soon to be added to the menu Detroit Style pizza. I LOVED the Dill Pickle Detroit Style pizza which shocked me because I wasn't expecting to! Highly recommend! I also tried their made on site root beer and I loved the fact that it wasn't obnoxiously sweet BUT I wished it had a bit more bite. If you're an avid root beer fan you know what I'm talking about. I would still get it again though because it is good! This place checks all the boxes, sure to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters and drinkers. This is a family friendly place for sure. The owners were so friendly and easy to work with and our servers took amazing care of us. Do you like baseball and beer? This is the perfect place for you! Studley offers a variety of amazing craft beer selections and a robust menu featuring everything from basic ball park hotdogs to personal pizzas! You can purchase a baseball bat sized cup for refills at a discounted pour cost too! There's nothing not to like about this place! The outside offers a few tables in a baseball theme and gives you a place to sit if you want to bring your dog. Strolled in and was amazed with all the baseball theme ambiance from the movie "The Sandlot" to "A League Of Their Own". Baseball cards used as coasters keep the baseball theme mainstreamed! Customer service was top notch as well as the delicious pizza! I ordered the pepperoni pizza known as the "is this heaven? no, it's pepperoni" DEFINITELY ADD HOT HONEY. So many beers that were all delicious and matched well with the pizza. If you are a fan of root beer definitely get a glass of their homemade root beer! Very refreshing! They hit the baseball theme out of the park (pun intended). Very family friendly brewery, last time we went on a Friday there were more children than adults there, so just something to keep in mind! Their pizza is decent, nothing spectacular but it's nice to go and have a pizza and a beer occasionally. This is a hidden gem. I was in the area for an event and stopped in to grab a to go order. Although this is a brewery upon arrival the atmosphere was very family friendly. The eating area and bar have a nice gap between so it doesn't feel crowded. I approached the bar and asked if I could place a to go order. Tiffany was more than happy to assist. She provided great conversation as I waited for my food and even offered me a water. Just my interaction with her I would return! I ordered the phanatic calzone which smelled amazing on the drive home. It was fresh made and still hot after a 15 minute drive. There was a great balance of ingredients - cheese meat and veggies. The meat had great flavor and the mozzarella had amazing pull. Looking forward to my next visit to try some of the beers. Highly recommend stopping in. read more

We were greeted as soon as we walked in. We had two waiters and both were super friendly and attentive. We each had a draft beer, yummy! We each got the tiny nachos and cheese and jalapeño appetizers. Small but plenty. Chips were crunchy and salty and there was plenty of beer cheese to dip them. Then We split the peppered calzone. I am super excited to see a new brewery open up in south Chesapeake! Occupying the original Big Ugly location on South Battlefield, Studly is very warm & inviting. Plenty of private lot parking and, when the weather cooperates, an outdoor patio in the front of the building. There is no question that the place is owned & operated by some serious baseball fanatics. Dugout-style bench seating inside, conversation-starter tables with baseball cards, old baseball movies on repeat and, my favorite, a Sandlot-themed indoor area for the littles. I hope they will show some games during the season as well. Even the flight boards are baseball-themed. As Mary mentioned, the women's restroom has toddler seats which is such a thoughtful idea! It was seat-yourself when we arrived this past Sunday around 5 and we chose table with viewing access to the kid's area. We were greeted by a couple of employees and they made sure we had drinks in hand pretty quickly. Throughout our visit, we were impressed with the service given just how busy everyone was. There were a few snafus with the POS system, but our server remedied them very quickly. To the food - our table had a large pretzel, kid's Bambino cheese pizza & The Rundown. The pretzel was awesome, but I didn't care for the honey mustard. The beer cheese was darn tasty. The kid's cheese pizza was a perfect size and delicious as well. I didn't try the Rundown, with dill pickles, bacon & ranch, but it was raved about by my companions and the neighboring table! The only disappointment for me was the beer. I tried a flight of red ale, IPA, stout and a guest IPA. The Studly beers just didn't have enough flavor for me unfortunately. I hope this is something that will improve with time and experience. Overall, though, a good visit and I would certainly return to give other brews a shot! read more

The set up is awesome! Of course the place was jam packed since it was their grand opening! Pizzas and beer! I mean what's not to love? Kid friendly bathrooms! They have 2 different toilet seats in the women's bathroom to help out cute lil babies from falling into the toilet lol. Kids area is a blessing! Mini picnic tables, crayons, pizza toys and more! My wife and I were meeting up some friends and they took us here for a quick bite to eat. The place is very very family friendly and a good atmosphere. My only gripe with this place was how long it took to get our food. I think we waited maybe 25 minutes to get our food. First off, they have an outdoor patio where our furry friends are welcome, which you know scores huge points from me. The brewery is baseball themed and super cute. I love that the menu even has baseball names for the food. Prices are fantastic. I definitely recommend their pizza, I had the basic cheese which tasted anything but basic. Perfect sauceto.cheese ratio, a great crust that was pillowy but with a touch of crunch. And I got their smores pizza for dessert, and that's amazing. The only criticism I have is they need to spread the marshmallows a bit better so there aren't empty places. Otherwise it was amazing. Came after work on a Friday night, and expectedly it was a bit busy. Still had no problems finding a table as there was a good amount of tables inside as well as outdoor seating. I ended up deciding to sit outside and was pleasantly surprised to see that some furry friends were welcome to join at the tables. My server was kind and efficient, and my order came out with minimal wait. I had their pepperoni pizza as part of the 757 deal, and as someone who isn't usually big on pizza, this pizza was so so good! The crust was the star of the show for me: not thick at all, great flavor, and perfectly crunchy. Honestly one of my favorite pizzas that I've ever tried! Though it came after our pizza, which was backwards than we were expecting. We sat at one of the tables that had the baseball cards, which was really cool. It was entertaining while we waited for our food. I really enjoyed The Heater. The honey drizzle and peppers were an interesting flavor to a pizza. I'd eat it again. The crust was a bit chewy. There is a new brewery in Chesapeake! It's located in the same business center as Pale Horse (their first location) and Kaper's Eatery. Parking can be found in the center lot. If you're a baseball fan, you'll get a kick out of this spot! I, personally am not a baseball fanatic, but I love a good theme and appreciate the details. You can tell they really thought this through from the decor, the kids play area (love the "You're killin' me smalls" art mural), the staff's attire and down to the menu prices (you'll see the numbers are not the typical cent endings)! I asked our guy who was helping us and told us the owner made different menu category items to reflect baseball stat numbers... no idea, but love the thought! I'm sure he had fun coming up with the concept! Even though their specialty is beer, can't speak on that because your gal is the automatic DD in this marriage. Plus, not a fan of beer, so if you're like me, the nonalcoholic options are root beer, fountain, sodas, and water. They also have Mott's apple juice boxes , if you like juices. For the kids, they have a Little League section with three items that include two different types of small pizzas, and a modified version of their Bavarian pretzel. If you order a kids meal, the drink is included. My youngest ordered the Bambino pizza and my oldest got The Bus salad, and added grape tomatoes. The bus salad is their version of a Cesar salad with a Romaine wedge. They both seemed to enjoy their meals. Now onto my department, the food. We got the Bavarian pretzel to start and the menu mentions that the pizzas are personal size, so we decided to each get our own pizzas. Husband got the "Is this heaven? No, it's pepperoni" pizza and I got the Figley Field sans the goat cheese. You can add hot honey on any of the pizzas at no extra charge. Bavarian pretzel - large pretzel and great for sharing. I loved the beer cheese dip! Pizzas - as I mentioned, the menu indicates that they are personal pizzas, but my husband and I thought that they were actually quite large. Maybe it's just us. Had we known, we would have probably gotten only one pizza to split, since we had filled up on the pretzel. All the pizzas are made to order and were made fresh which I appreciated. My husband was slightly disappointed with the lack of meaty options for pizzas since they seem to be the main food item, but he seem to enjoy his pepperoni pizza. He loves hot honey. I enjoyed my Figley field pizza. Loved the combo of the fig spread, bacon, prosciutto with the red onions and fresh arugula. However, I think I will go without the hot honey next time as the combination of fig spread and honey was slightly too sweet. The only thing I would suggest is maybe tweaking the dough to add a bit more chewiness to the crust. I thought it was a bit overdone and too crunchy. We ended up packing up half our pizzas to take home! Generous portions! The guy who helped us was also a nice bonus to our visit. Super laid back, but also very polite and checked on us often!
