Great place to grab a pizza and a drink! Staff was friendly and informative! I had a cider- it was tasty but not my favorite cider ever. My GF pizza was VERY YUMMY! And I often don't think they are always great! The place is big, open and clean. Lots of fun activities going on. A must try!

Fermentory: a place where fermentation is the main craft. The open-floor concept gives it a bright, welcoming feel, and there's plenty of space to enjoy good drinks and good company. The beer selection is solid, but what stole the show for me was the pizza. Their dough is fermented for 72 hours, and you can taste every bit of that patience: flavorful, chewy, and with just the right amount of crispness. Between the atmosphere, the quality, and the creativity, this spot is a win for foodies and beer lovers alike.

I visited this restaurant for the first time. The cauliflower crust pizza is delicious!! I tried the pesto chicken with a hot honey and balsamic vinegar drizzle...yummy!! I also split a Caesar salad. My friends had the beignets. They looked amazing. That service was good though it took a minute to get the pizzas. My friends had the pepperoni, and they enjoyed it. The staff told us they have different themed nights. They have a bar area and several tables. There's also a huge event space with lounge seating. This is a very cool spot! We will be back!

Pesto Chicken Pizza

I got their pesto chicken pizza to try, and while it sounded right up my alley, it was just ok. Tomatoes were fresh, pesto had good flavor, and the crust was nice. I just think the feta was bland, chicken was overcooked and bland (I'm really picky about chicken), and it needed more balsamic, or a more vinegary type of balsamic. The pizza altogether was average and it could've been cooked a little longer to make it a tad more crisp and add more color. I really liked the bounciness and airiness of the bread, it was like a focaccia. Ambiance wise, it felt a bit sterile. I was there when it was just opening for the day, so it also was bare on customers. I'm sure it could be better on a Friday night, but today was just average. Not my new go-to for pizza, but I'll definitely come back to try some other menu items.

Plum honey buzz

My husband and I came here for a date night a few weeks ago. Upon walking in, the employees were not super welcoming and it was a little loud. We weren't really sure what to do but soon found out that we just needed to order at the counter and they give you a number to take to your table. I asked for a cider recommendation but the cashier did not seem like he wanted to talk too much. I ended up ordering the plum honey buzz and as a non beer drinker it wasn't too bad. We mostly came for the pizza, which I definitely recommend. We just got a pepperoni pizza and the pretzel bites with beer cheese. Both were very good. We did also order the beignets but those were not good, we could have done without. There is a ton of seating inside and out and definitely seems like a place for bigger groups.

First, this review is mostly about customer service because I did not drink the beer, I drank wine and I did not eat. I was there for a large party on a Saturday night. The place was bright, clean and great for large parties. They had outdoor seating and play area too. The staff was AMAZING!!! So friendly and helpful. I am not a beer girl but I would definitely come back for wine and to try the food. Every employee that I came into contact with was super helpful, friendly and efficient!!!!

First off. It looks like there are a lot of haters. I can only speak for the beer, but the beer is really good. Actually better than really good. The Helles tasted like exactly like the Helles should. In fact, the 6 beers we got were exactly what we ordered..very well made beers to style! I also saw comments about staff. Everyone here was extremely polite and friendly. Again haters! This place was a surprise, we came here on a whim. I had no expectations for anything before I came, but I would come back for these beers and service again. Overall, an amazing beer experience that I was not expecting when i walked in the door.

The signature Sojourner pizza: cup and char pepperoni, ricotta, basil, and hot honey.

The Bridge Road area of Suffolk needed a craft brewery and Sojourn Fermentory does it right. They have a wide variety of their own craft brews and ciders as well as about a half dozen guest taps. They serve their brews in a glass which they select to suit the beer and the serving sizes vary. The food menu is not extensive but they offer enough variety with pizza, sandwiches, and salad to satisfy most tastes. We really enjoyed the pizzas on our first visit. Today, they were left in the oven a few minutes too long and the crusts were over cooked to nearly burnt. It's a clean, open, refreshing atmosphere and the staff are very willing to assist.

I really don't understand how burnt pepperoni have no flavor, the pizza itself had no flavor and was chewy like a boot.

This was Friday 11/25/24 and the area was having their Octoberfest celebration. You'd think the staff would have been better prepared but they seemed lost and uninterested in customer discourse. Getting food to the respective places seemed to be a challenge with their system. The owner also did not seem concerned as he only spoke to one table that I believe were friends of his. Also, the beer list doesn't tell you the ingredients to its seasonals which was strange cuz I ordered not knowing partially what I was getting or if I'd like it, which I did; I got the hefeweizen. It taste the spice but I can't be more descriptive like was it pumpkin spice or what?? The place has potential and should be a happening spot for the sports and family crowd. It has garage doors to open the place up, I like the way it looks and it's clean. But, the service is hard to get past.

5/5 August 2024. We stopped here on the way to the Outer Banks. We had heard about this place from a podcast as a project involving one of the owners of a really cool beer bar in Fairfax. They had only opened a week or two before our trip but we had to take the opportunity to stop by. We had a late lunch on our trip, it really is pretty convenient if you're heading from the DC area to the beaches. It was well worth the stop. They have a lunch special that was a great deal. The service was good, especially for a new place. The pizza was good and fairly filling for a personal size. They are going for a more upscale feel and that comes through. We will definitely come back if we're in the area. Would definitely recommend..

If you're curious about when they're open, they're currently opened on Wed-Saturday (assuming I read the correct sign). You can tell they're really feeling their way through all this but they are definitely setup for success. I like the patio area outside as it's covered and has 4 patio benches for you to enjoy. Inside they have seating for almost 50 total (to include the bar) and a foosball table in the back corner. As of this current moment, they don't offer flights or fill growlers, but that's ok. I'm sure it's probably a glassware thing for now. All good though, having been only open for a week the most important part would be of course... the beer. For beer I had the the Brown Ale and my wife has the Saison. They were both very solid, clean, tasting beers. We really don't need any of the crazy flairs, but am glad they have solid beers to work with for now. This tells me that they're on the right path towards building a good foundation. Overall, the atmosphere was great, beer was solid, and we had a good time. We will definitely be back! Check 'em out! Support the beer scene in the local area! It's the kind of place that works for almost any occasion, whether you're hanging out with a big group, grabbing a drink solo, or meeting up for a casual date. There are lots of different seating options, which makes the space feel flexible and comfortable. They also host live music and trivia on certain nights, which adds to the overall vibe. I went on a Sunday around 6:30pm. It wasn't crowded, but there was still a good crowd if that makes sense. It felt lively without being packed. Their drink selection is great. They have plenty of beer options, but also serve wine, seltzers, cider, and non alcoholic drinks, which I really appreciate since I'm not much of a beer person. I ordered the frozen rosé slushie in wild raspberry and it was strong. I also had the black cherry fruited cider, which was delicious. For food, I ordered The Hive pizza and it was excellent. The crust was thin-ish and tasted homemade, and the ingredients were clearly high quality. No complaints at all. Service was friendly and efficient, and the bathrooms were very clean. Random detail, but the toilet paper was noticeably better quality than what you usually find in bars. It was not plush, but strong and not paper thin. Overall, I loved the atmosphere, the food, the drinks, and the service. I will definitely be back.

Elation Brewing has a huge indoor and outdoor area with plenty of different styles of seating! It is family and pet friendly, and they have fire pits for cooler days/nights. I love that the inside still has huge open windows to allow that fresh cross breeze in. They are known for their pizza, but they also have a variety of other things to eat on their menu. There is also a number of different beers, seltzers, IPAs, and wines to try. Tonight I had the White Cranberry Sangria from Water's Edge Winery (also in Norfolk) and the Downeast Black Cherry! While both were really good, I prefer the Downeast because it was sparkling and just more refreshing. We also had the bacon Gouda pizza and the Hive pizza with hot honey. Both were great! I had never had a hot honey pizza but would definitely get it again! Tonight was trivia night and they had a good size crowd come out. I like that you could actually hear the questions despite so many people. A lot of times I can barely hear! Also inside the same place is Voyager Coffee. They're only open 7-4. I would love to give them a try. Oh and Elation does offer military discount but only on their to-go beers! The ONLY reason I did not give Elation five star is because I wish they had actual servers. You have to go up to the counter to order each time, and the lines get pretty long. Being able to order from the table, even if from a QR code where you could order and pay online would be a plus. Lastly, for such a large space, the parking lot is tiny. You'd either have to find street parking or there is additional parking at the CEO building on Colley.

I selected The Veil as the spot for my UYE and enjoyed an evening of talking shop with the great J David H. while we drank those great beers. The Veil is a comfortable spot in the Railroad District and we were sitting in their dining area on the ground floor. Big tables and plenty of room this afternoon. Which we needed because that burger and fries needed elbow room to enjoy. I'd only suggest a pump-based ketchup dispenser as the packet thing is tedious. They opened here in 2019 - well after I was done with my projects in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake - transforming this three-story space into a family-friendly taproom and restaurant. The full kitchen specializes in indulgent smashburgers and Neapolitan-style pizzas that pair perfectly with the brewery's bold stouts, hazy IPAs, and seasonal sours. We didn't have the opportunity to enjoy the Only You Bar & Lounge upstairs. Maybe that's the next visit to Hampton Roads. [Round number review 1500 in Virginia - 911 of 2025 - 24467 overall]

I only experienced the downstairs on my visit with Yelp friend Bruce K. The Happy Hour pricing was a draw as well as stellar reviews. Parking in their own smallish lot on a weekday was no problem. I started off with a Blend which is a Pale and Pilsner if I recall and it was tasty. The counter service was excellent. You can cash tip or card. Customers can also leave a tab open. The seating is wood bench type that comfortably seats six. The aesthetics of the first floor is high ceilings, concrete floors and walls. The kitchen has a garage door over the front. The space was previously a restaurant, but before may have been a factory, or warehouse. Only negative was music was a bit elevated for talking. Prior to Happy Hour concluding I ordered a $6 on special smash burger that comes with fries. No other dudes are available. The regular price is $12, so this is a deal friends. In about 20 minutes burgers and fries were delivered to the table. The look was downright amazing, so pretty much knew this bad boy was gonna be a hitter. The burger comes with double patty, cheese, Dukes mayo, lettuce a pickle. If something else I'm sorry I forgot. The first bite was phenomenal! Fresh bread, perfectly cooked 80/20 beef which was not greasy. The construction was a masterpiece. The thin fries were cooked crispy and seasoned well, yum! Honestly I could eat that burger everyday. The whole experience was exceptional and worthy of a full 5. Totally recommend checking The Veil Brewing out.

They need to go to Precarious and see how they do it. Their food is generally good to great. They have a $5 before 5 app and drink special menu that is a really good deal. Nice spot for adults to have some drinks. Just be patient as service is generally slow. Now onto my recent experience.... I suggested it to some friends who wanted to grab some beers on MLK day which was a Monday. There were 4 of us guys and 7 kids. It's a lot. I get it. They weren't overly busy. Maybe a quarter full. I tried to keep the kids away from other tables by giving them boundaries. They were not happy with us. They didn't like the kids being outside in their patio (freezing, no one out there) etc. The one server was getting destroyed. She had just like 6 tables, but a 16 top. I felt badly for her. Our drinks correspondingly took about 20-30 minutes each time we tried to order. She was nice when she could get to us. At one point a person who said they were a manager, I think she said her name was Hannah, came over and said the kids couldn't be going around (again, I had boundaries not by any other patrons etc. from what I could see they were honoring them, but who knows), anyway she asked if we could keep them by us, which is fine. I then asked her if I could put in a beer and app order as I had been waiting for our server with an empty beer for at least 20 minutes. Instead of taking the order and ringing it in, she said she'd send the server over and disappeared never to be seen again. 5 minutes Iater the server was able to get free from her big table and get our beer orders and food in. Several items were forgot, but at this point we were kind of over it. Just not really your typical relaxed brewery vibe. Felt like they wanted it to be more of a sit down restaurant. The fried jalapeno and bacon added some extra spice, crunch and saltiness. This burger is righteous. To wash down my burger and fries I selected the red ale, which is balanced and not hoppy tasting. I am a big fan of red ale if you are not a fan of overly hoppy beer.
