    (L) Triple Barrel 7 and Pepp Bois. Notice the "legs" inside the TB7 glass.

We stopped in for the pizza, but we were disappointed. We've had better. The selections of pizza were nice, however; the two we chose really needed more sauce and needed to fill out more of the pizza area. The beers we had were outstanding. Pepp Bois carried a delicious and prominent oregano flavor and the Triple Barrel F was so delicious and thick that the glass it was in was left with wine-like "legs." Service was fine and it was a beautiful day to eat outside on one of the benches. Parking in its lot was somewhat limited, but there were several handicap spaces available.

I have been to the Veil Brewing twice, but both times at the end of a beer crawl so I wasn't able to fully enjoy the experience. This reflects in my check in pictures which is as blurry as my vision was that night. I like this venue because it is versatile. For one, it has 3 levels, each with its own unique flair. The first level is your typical tap room, but with high ceilings, kind of industrial looking and an open window kitchen. The second floor is like a chill lounge. The third floor is like an in door roof top experience. From what I could tell though, you can only order beer on the first floor and carry it up. Sorry no beer notes this time. I honestly don't remember what beer I ordered each time, but they were both good. And on my first visit I ordered their version of what I think was a crochet. It was I think fried potato filled with melty cheese. It was just what I needed after a full day of day drinking. I have got to come back and make thus my first stop, because it really is a great spot.

Considering how often I'm here, I should probably leave a review lol I've enjoyed coming to The Veil since the presence of Lil Za, but I love coming here specifically for happy hour. $1 Oysters?! You can't beat it. You can enjoy the oysters raw, Rockefeller, or Motoyaki (I believe that's what it's called). I started off with big trays of half Rockefeller and half Motoyaki, but as of late, the Motoyaki oysters have been my fixation. They're Japanese with miso, cream cheese, mozzarella, greens, Japanese mayo, and panko crumbs. They are so good!!!!!!! I can't get enough of them lol I also love the variety of drinks they have. The specials are always good. The smashburger happy hour deal is one that you can't beat. And they just started serving pizzas again so a visit to The Veil is always worth it. It's spacious, there's a good amount of seating, there are multiple floors now with different offerings, and staff is really cool. This one is a Norfolk gem

Came for happy hour, stayed for the ambiance. $3 for 3 oysters is hard to beat. I would've liked the picked toppings on the side instead of already on the oysters. $6 burgers plus happy hour drink specials. Service was quick and friendly!

Burger at happy hour. Very good and unbeatable price!

Friendly service from the folks behind the bar and in the kitchen. The $6 burger special during happy hour (til 6:30) cannot be beat. Fun space typical of the brewery scene.

Can't go wrong with their beers!!! Staff is awesome. Chill atmosphere and plenty of parking that includes side street parking.

The Veil in Norfolk has tasty and super creative beers and a phenomenal food menu! Today we just went in for lunch, and we each got a Smashburger: one with fries and one with chips. The Smashburger was grilled to perfection, the cheese was super melted, and the Martin's potato roll really held everything together.

We love the Veil! Lots of seating, both indoor and outdoor. Great beers and helpful staff- I am the queen of "let me sample like 5 things" and then pick, and they are always patient. BONUS tip- don't miss the bar all the way upstairs - that level is a total vibe and has the best drinks!

Went here Saturday for a pop up event and really enjoyed myself. There was a live DJ that actually knew how to DJ lol. Many different vendors and small business owners selling vintage clothes, jewelry/ accessories , sport memorabilia; there was a lane for interests of all kinds. I had a pina colada cider and a margarita, both hit the spot. We didn't get food but I saw everyone getting these smash burgers and they looked legit, I'll be back to try it out.

We've lived in Park Place for 1 year now, and The Veil has been our most reliable, go-to place for us so far. FOOD/BEER: I liked it when they had Lil Za; the pizza was yummy, but they recently switched to a burger menu, which I haven't tried yet! We only ordered the cheese fries, which were pretty disappointing. They were just fries with nacho cheese; they didn't get creative with the cheese at all. - The beer is always solid, has great prices, and they have several different sizes. - The drinks on the third floor (Only You) are hit or miss, but they switch drinks in and out, so I try something different every time I go. My biggest surprise was their Piña Colada - WOW, it was so strong and so good! I didn't expect that, especially because it was a premix. LOCATION: This spot is so great, honestly. It has three stories, and each floor is different. The renovation of the 3rd floor is quite impressive. Cool vibes, cool music, bartenders are cool, drinks are fun, and decoration is hip. The furniture isn't the most comfortable, but, it's a bar haha Will I return? Yep! We come here a lot.

I have been to several Veil locations, and this is definitely one of the best I have been to. The brewery is clean, organized, and well-staffed. It has lots of seating options and different types of seating for different groups. Drink selection was pretty good, especially for the winter. I wished they kept a Pilsner on tap for the winter for variety, but understand that it is not in season. I also got a burger and fries here, and a fried pickle appetizer. I was very impressed. The fried pickles were pretty standard, but I liked the dipping sauce they came with. The burger was excellent; it is probably the best I've had at a brewery. Two smashed patties that were cooked excellent and had a lot of flavor. The burger sauce paired very well. The fries were great too - salty and crispy! I like the Veil and their drinks. This was an excellent location that they have. I would definitely recommend to those in the area.

We stopped into the Veil after arriving in Norfolk and getting settled into our hotel. We wanted to have a bite to eat and try some local brews. The people here were very friendly and we enjoyed the decor and casual vibe. They have a second floor that was closed at the time and a third floor that is home to a cool cocktail lounge called Only You with a relaxing atmosphere and friendly bartender that greeted us when we walked in. We ended up hanging out downstairs and ordered some garlic parm wings and beers. Food is served inside by Lil 'Za. The wings were nice and crunchy and we loved the sauce. The flavor on the wings themselves was a little lacking in my opinion, but still tasty. We tried a smoothie style sour ale and a gose and enjoyed both of them. Overall, this was a cool spot and I'd definitely return!

Left Pina colada cider and right some IPA

Finally made my way here and I'm so glad we did. Hubby had some IPA beer and loved it. I'm not a beer person so I asked for alternatives and they had a good amount. I had the pina colada cider and it was very good, could have had 3 glasses lol. For lunch we had the Big Mac burger and the pizza with sausage. The food almost seems to good to be coming out of a brewery. Could easily just come for the food. Excellent service, great vibe, lots of seating area.

Ask the Community - The Veil Brewing

    How's the parking?

I've never had issues - even on busy Saturdays - finding a side street spot within a block of the Veil.

    Are they dog friendly?

Absolutely! They have a huge patio space (and an outside bar, I believe.. unless it was just set up for the opening weekends) where dogs are welcome.

It's the kind of place that works for almost any occasion, whether you're hanging out with a big group, grabbing a drink solo, or meeting up for a casual date. There are lots of different seating options, which makes the space feel flexible and comfortable. They also host live music and trivia on certain nights, which adds to the overall vibe. I went on a Sunday around 6:30pm. It wasn't crowded, but there was still a good crowd if that makes sense. It felt lively without being packed. Their drink selection is great. They have plenty of beer options, but also serve wine, seltzers, cider, and non alcoholic drinks, which I really appreciate since I'm not much of a beer person. I ordered the frozen rosé slushie in wild raspberry and it was strong. I also had the black cherry fruited cider, which was delicious. For food, I ordered The Hive pizza and it was excellent. The crust was thin-ish and tasted homemade, and the ingredients were clearly high quality. No complaints at all. Service was friendly and efficient, and the bathrooms were very clean. Random detail, but the toilet paper was noticeably better quality than what you usually find in bars. It was not plush, but strong and not paper thin. Overall, I loved the atmosphere, the food, the drinks, and the service. I will definitely be back.

Elation Brewing has a huge indoor and outdoor area with plenty of different styles of seating! It is family and pet friendly, and they have fire pits for cooler days/nights. I love that the inside still has huge open windows to allow that fresh cross breeze in. They are known for their pizza, but they also have a variety of other things to eat on their menu. There is also a number of different beers, seltzers, IPAs, and wines to try. Tonight I had the White Cranberry Sangria from Water's Edge Winery (also in Norfolk) and the Downeast Black Cherry! While both were really good, I prefer the Downeast because it was sparkling and just more refreshing. We also had the bacon Gouda pizza and the Hive pizza with hot honey. Both were great! I had never had a hot honey pizza but would definitely get it again! Tonight was trivia night and they had a good size crowd come out. I like that you could actually hear the questions despite so many people. A lot of times I can barely hear! Also inside the same place is Voyager Coffee. They're only open 7-4. I would love to give them a try. Oh and Elation does offer military discount but only on their to-go beers! The ONLY reason I did not give Elation five star is because I wish they had actual servers. You have to go up to the counter to order each time, and the lines get pretty long. Being able to order from the table, even if from a QR code where you could order and pay online would be a plus. Lastly, for such a large space, the parking lot is tiny. You'd either have to find street parking or there is additional parking at the CEO building on Colley.

One unique thing about this place is that it's connected to Emerson's cigar lounge, so if you're into cigars you can smoke either inside or outside in the designated areas. Not something you see at many breweries. Another thing I appreciated was that there are outdoor areas where kids aren't allowed. A lot of breweries turn into unofficial playgrounds with kids running around everywhere, which can definitely kill the vibe. There were still kids here, but they weren't everywhere, so it struck a nice balance. They also have a good selection of seltzers for people who aren't big beer drinkers, which is a nice option to have. The bartenders were cool and easygoing too. The bathroom was clean, which is always appreciated. The only downside was there were no paper towels, so I had to open the door with freshly washed hands like some kind of hand-hygiene gamble. Not ideal. Overall, a solid place to grab a drink and hang out.

Generally speaking, I thought the prices of the beers were pretty comparable to other similar places in the area. Also, the staff was pretty friendly and helpful. Note to dog owners: The outdoor area has a 3-bark rule in that it's highly recommended that if your dog is constantly barking, then you should leave. We ordered the waffle plate, which came topped with fruit alongside eggs and their house sausage. We also tried the Huevos Rancheros, the Sausage Egg & Cheese sandwich, and a build-your-own omelette. For drinks, we ordered the brown sugar cold brew, dulce de leche cold brew, drip coffee, and an espresso martini. The waffle was huge, and the sides were great. My only complaint was that it could have used more fruit, as there were only a few small pieces. The Huevos Rancheros were delicious and came with a generous serving of avocado. The only thing that caught us off guard was the lack of salsa, since in traditional Huevos Rancheros the salsa is a key component. Even so, the dish was still flavorful and filling. The omelette was excellent, and the breakfast sandwich was equally delicious. I was especially impressed by the house-made jam, house-made hot sauce, and the perfectly seasoned home fries. As for the drinks, the brown sugar cold brew was excellent, but the dulce de leche version was far too sweet for my taste. From what I understood, they use two flavored syrups to make it, and I think using smaller portions of each would create a better balance. We ended up adding oat milk and some drip coffee to tone it down. The drip coffee itself was solid and came with free refills. The espresso martini really tied brunch together for me -- strong, well-made, and delicious. Overall, we really enjoyed both the food and the experience, and we'll definitely be back.
