Friendly folks and great suds. The only thing I didn't enjoy was that smoking is permitted. Not judging, just can't do it.

This is an update to my previous review with genuine beer comments. What a wonderful BREWERY! Wil, the brewer has a very special talent of taking readily available ingredients and making an other worldly product.  I love great beer.  And I love this beer.  Okay... I really love this beer. THE BEER: In Dog years I'm Dead.. helles Lager 5.2% ABV... closer to a pilsner and quite good. Timewatermelon time.. wheat beer 4.2% ABV... I love this! Watermelon rind and the sweetness and caramel of watermelon.  So very crushable! This is not a Seltzer, but if you like them, you should love this. Light bulb.. American lage 4.2% ABV... this is the equivalent of their Miller, but way better. Smooth Operator.. peach mango wheat beer 5% ABV... perfumed and mango forward, easy drinking delicious and totally crushable. Confundido.. tequila infused IPA 7.3% ABV... OMG... I can't describe the flavor, but loved this.  It draws you in to the deep water and drowns you. Three of these and you need a designated driver. LGBTG+.. New England IPA 6.5% ABV... my third time having this, and no matter your pronouns this is a solid New England. Flesh Wound.. New England IPA 7.3%... my second time with Flesh Wound. First time I liked it, second time I loved it.  So afraid for a third time. Might have to buy a ring. Confused?.. American IPA 7% ABV... Yes F Bomb.. DIPA 9% ABV... Tha f@&k. This is so very great!! If you have ever had Manatee... this is that all day, all powerful, wonderful IPA.  BOOM! Tetanus.. Amber Ale 6.3% ABV... this is my second favorite beer here.  See RUSTED NAIL. Rusted Nail.. American Amber 6.3% ABV...  So very well balanced caramel red.  This is not an Irish red. More well balanced and quite delicious.  I could have one of these every day until infinity. Builder from Hell.. Coffee Stout 10% ABV... this is a colab with Pale Horse Coffee.. a little acidic, but not bad... this is your coffee shot, with alcohol Bourbon Aged breakfast builder.. Imperial Stout 10.5% ABV... pour this on your pancakes on a bender and you will level out, or drink it straight so you can pour it on your pancakes in the immediate future. This is nice. Boss Lady Vol. 2.. triple berry sour 8% ABV...  if this was a slushy it would be an all day drinker. So very good. Boss Lady Vol. 8.. Sangria sour 6% ABV... truly refreshing and wonderfully balanced.  This is a WINNER!

Stopped here during Octoberfest - super cool vibe! Great beer according to my husband, and I even drank something called the boss lady no 8...very good! They don't serve food, but have rotating food trucks...we tried the pretzel and it was amazing. Their staff is super nice and were very friendly to our dogs .

    Dog friendly! :)

Great variety of food trucks. Drinks are always delicious, as long as you like beer, LOL. Service has always been great. The ambiance is very nice- not too loud or quiet. There are always events going on, so they really have something for everyone. I love the monthly yoga classes and Pilates classes that they host. Music bingo and trivia are fun too!

I've been impressed with the beers the handful of times I have been here, but our most recent visit this past Tuesday 6/29 was just ok. The beers were tasty and cold so that made the visit worthwhile. That, and we had a kid-free night. We arrived around 7:15pm and they were hosting a Jeep event, so the front grassy area was lined with Jeeps - very cool for those interested. We found the place pretty full inside when we arrived, but there was a high top and some bar seating opened. There were a few guests in line at the bar so it wasn't a long wait for beers. The bartender that took our orders and opened our tab acted like she couldn't care less about being there (which I surmised was probably due to the fact that she was getting off work soon, as she joined some other guests at the bar and enjoyed a beer just a few minutes after we ordered). She also poured me a full 10 oz goblet when we asked for a 5 oz taster. No idea if we were charged for the full 10, though I suspect we were, as I didn't see the tab. One of the reasons I like Garage is the smaller pours, so I get a chance to taste more without getting hammered. This defeated the purpose, but anyway... It was a nice evening and we had hoped to sit outside on the benches. A handwritten "JEEPS ONLY @ 5PM" sign at the patio door deterred us. I was disappointed as there were a few open tables outside clearly going unused, but didn't want to step on toes. I would have liked to sit outside, not just because of the weather, but it was quite loud inside with the sheer number of guests, loud music and barking dogs. Upon exit, I noticed they had a table of board games for those interested. I noted they were having another car event yesterday (Wed 6/30) and, when I drove by around 3pm, they had half the parking lot blocked for those cars. I'll definitely make note of what events are happening before I return. I wish they were more accommodating to ALL guests rather than those just coming for whatever event is scheduled.

Love the fact that this place is right down the street from me! We came here during their Grand Opening and have been a patron since! Staff is awesome and gives great recommendations. Love the variety of beers and food trucks they offer! Parking- it will get a little crowded during the warmer months but you can side street park. It's pretty open in the inside, there a small upstairs section and they have an outdoor patio area as well. Dogs and kids are welcome indoors. But kids have to be leashed. LOL just kidding. But during the pandemic, a few breweries are not allowing kids inside.

Garage Brewery is a great neighborhood spot with so much personality. The place literally looks like a renovated garage and many aspects of the brewery fit with the garage and construction theme. It definitely seemed like a great way to utilize the space with its industrial, rustic roots. As for the beer selection, I have to say I was slightly disappointed. Although it's quite impressive to have everything from a sour to an IPA to a stout, I do think that the beers were a bit lackluster. The flavors weren't bad but they weren't anything to be wow'ed by. The breweries I'd give a 5 would usually have a memorable or signature beer but I don't recall anything that particularly stands out. All in all, I would give the beers an average of 3.5 but given how creative and pleasant the interior is, I'll round up to a 4.

My friend had to redeem herself for a bust of a night out & this was the perfect redemption! Came for (anti) trivia night a little wide-eyed since it was our first time here, but the hostess was super sweet and inviting. We got everything we needed + submitted our team name until the show began! Nice clean, crisp layout with great lighting. Best to come at a reasonable time to get good seating in view of the TV used for the game, but there's also upstairs seating! Nice introduction of the judges & they had a mic to be heard. It was definitely fun! Best answers chosen based on the judges sense of humor, so it definitely got pretty interesting! Loved the water on tap easily accessible by customers. I assume they don't serve any food, but it was great to see a food truck available outside. You can check their website ahead of time to see who will be there! Great for relaxed weekday fun.

I had a lovely evening at Garage. Warmly welcome at the bar by one of the barmaids who took my card and started my tab. Super selection of beers, so I started with their Czech pilsner "Caterpilsner" and later trying the APA "Brothers in Arms" that was also excellent. I finished the evening with a half pour of the chocolate dunkelweizen "Huckle Buckle Dunkel" that was good as well. The bar is lightly decorated but there is definitely plenty of seating. The "mezzanine" appealed to me so I was up there and mostly alone for the two hours I spent here. A bit of peace with beer. Check the website for the food truck schedule. Comfortable, very good beer and they have a bunch of board games and speedy wifi. It's only a bummer that no one showed for my UYE. [Review 11941 overall, 1723 of 2019.]

I've visited several hundred different breweries over the years, and this one is one of the best so far. The most important criteria is of course, the beer. The Garage Brewery has a good mix of beer styles, and doesn't favor one type too heavily. I'm a hop-head, and their IPA's did not disappoint. The brewery itself doesn't serve food, but seems to have a regular rotation of food trucks. The decor was interesting, and any kid or gear head will appreciate it. The bathrooms were clean, the patio is spacious, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable in their beer recommendations. The night that I stopped by was a Tuesday, and the "Going Coastal" Jeep club meets here every other Tuesday. It was a nice coincidence, as I was also in my Jeep, and met some really nice Jeepers. If you're a brewery fan and in the 7 cities, you definitely need to try the Garage Brewery.

A great place for this growing brewery !!!! Though you really couldn't tell it was new, by the chemistry of everyone working together, being knowledgeable about the brews of the day, pleasant, and just being in a great happy mood here at The Garage Brewery. The team consists of Jayme, Chelsea, John, Heidi, Erika, Andrew, Joe, Megan, Laurie, owners Ulyana and Roy as well. They ALL partake in taking care of you the customer and keeping it clean and ready !! A dog friendly environment both inside and outside for your convenience and with bowls for their food or water. Yes they get their drink on also !!! As new flavors are being created to keep up with the growing community of fans !!! New favorites will be sure to come like Boss Lady, Very Cherry, Light Bulb, F-Bomb, Boss Lady Vol. 2, Rusted Nail, Crowbar, and Smooth Operator. As you enjoy your brews, you will have the choice of enjoying yourself outside in the patio area or inside, either upstairs (tables) or downstairs (tables or bar area). Enjoy the construction, garage decor, and blu prints on the bar of different items. Oh and you gotta check out the cool souvenir gear available as well !!!!

For beers, I very much enjoyed their Tiny Panzer, a tasty hefeweizen. For seconds while Yelping with my laptop, the BUB Lite was a lighter American lager that was surprisingly flavorful and totally crushable. OH MY! The freshness of the Figley Field pizza and the tasty combination of its ingredients (fig spread topped with bacon crumbles, prosciutto, red onion, goat cheese crumble, and mozzarella on house-made dough where the pizza is finished with fresh arugula on top) made it my new favorite! And I also enjoyed the Hazy IPA that our server Taylor said was her favorite. Looking forward to stopping into Studly Brewing again very soon! The burger comes with double patty, cheese, Dukes mayo, lettuce a pickle. If something else I'm sorry I forgot. The first bite was phenomenal! (Sours, stouts etc.) I had the kookaburra beer and it quickly has become one of my favorites. The Grape Gatsby was served only in a can, but was also delicious. I am a big fan of sour beers and this brewery hits the mark. The brewery itself is definitely a more open brewery. There's a quick line on busy days, but the bartenders are quick and efficient and make the line move. The bar itself has picnic table like seating and a huge open area outside, with each table having a QR code for food/beer etc. This last time, I had the pimento grilled cheese, with tomato soup and it's the perfect snack for a winter day. When heading towards the bathroom, there was a huge chalkboard of posted events coming up as well as another section for events. I really do like a brewery that has events in the area to make people come and visit and it gives people a chance to experience cool events in the area while having a familiar place to go afterwards or before. I Came here for coffee one morning, and the coffee as well was excellent. I enjoyed the 007 which is a shaken espresso, Highly recommend! They also have pastries, we got the blueberry scone, chocolate chip scone and the cheese danish. All were great and tasted fresh. Not what you would expect from a brewery in the morning, but it was well worth the trip. The brewery itself was at a low volume and had great sunlight peeking through for a great coffee in the morning. Parking was a bit rough when it was busy on a Saturday afternoon, but there was a separate lot if you can't find parking in the main one. We only waited about 10 minutes for a spot and it ended up not being too tight.

A great way to socialize and enjoy the warm weather. The drink options look great, from beer, to mixed drinks, to even coffee. However, we didn't have a chance to try them this time around. We came in for a late lunch, the menu has some great options. Unfortunately, my food came out about 15 minutes before my husband's, so we couldn't really enjoy our meal together. 2 meals, no drinks (not even a soda), and 2 sauces came out to around $40. Honestly, I wouldn't pay that again for the portion of food you're getting. For food at this price point, I think there's better places. However, the vibes are great and this is an awesome spot for drinks. Definitely recommend for drinks & hanging out!

Sometimes great things come in small packages. This is literally a garage door Brewery. From what I can tell, everything is small batch ( see photos of Brewing area). I almost want to stop here, because from the sampling I have had the beer is AWESOME SAUCE. So far, this is the best beer I have had in the area, and I have already visited about 10 breweries between Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Chesapeake. I literally could waste my days here. But, it wouldn't be any where near a waste. I think I'm in love. The BEER: Break Water Cream Ale 4% ABV... Smooth and delicious, all day crushable. New Moon Schwarzbier 4.9% ABV... this is closer to a Stout with some smoke, it is very good. I was hoping for the Rausch bier flavor. Still quite delicious. Kaiyo Rice Lager 5.5% ABV... Oh Wow!!! Creamy and delicious. Reminds me of coconut water. This would pair well with just about anything. The BEST. Teak Beach tropical IPA 7.7% ABV... Party in my mouth... thus is AMAZING!!! pineapple, guava or mango, and coconut. Brian says, pineapple and Coconut, but my mind is going tropic crazy. This IPA is low in IBUs and high in full robust flavor. If you love craft beer and you are in the area. If you miss Rip Rap Brewing in Norfolk, Virginia, you have truly missed something special. PS... Brian is a font of knowledge and an overall great beertender.
