It's the kind of beer you can sip on all night, especially while hanging out with friends or, in my case, warming up for trivia. Thursday happened to be trivia night, and it was honestly one of the highlights of the visit. The host kept things fun without dragging the rounds on too long, and the place had just the right amount of friendly competition! Even if you're not a trivia regular, like myself, it's a great way to break up the workweek and gives the whole brewery a lively, energetic feel. They also had the Pittsburgh's Best food truck on-site, which was awesome. I tried the gyro and it was fantastic! I love breweries that consistently bring in solid food truck options. Overall, Big Ugly is a fantastic spot whether you're grabbing a beer after work, meeting up with friends, or looking for something fun to do on a Thursday. Looking back at the photos and wow! I'm sorry it's been so long, but I'm here now! After an afternoon of driving up from North Carolina, I was ready for beer and air conditioning and some wifi. I found all here and it was a great spot. Open, comfortable and friendly. I had a high top table but there was all kinds of other seating, both inside and out. For beers, I very much enjoyed their Tiny Panzer, a tasty hefeweizen. For seconds while Yelping with my laptop, the BUB Lite was a lighter American lager that was surprisingly flavorful and totally crushable. Big Ugly does not have a kitchen (yay, they can have dogs!) and today they were pairing up with the Pinoy Delights food truck. They have a schedule on their webpage. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the female bartender, who had a beautiful smile and pleasant demeanor. We asked to try a couple of beers before deciding on one, which she graciously accommodated. I ended up with a Japanese lager, which puts me in mind of a Asahi beer which I love. Most importantly we shared quality time together with the extended family and friends. The music was amazing and not so loud as to disrupt conversation. A lot of times it gets really crowded, and there isn't enough parking, so you end up having to park across the street. The problem is that there's no traffic light there, which makes crossing the street pretty stressful when traffic is heavy. The left turn out of the place can also be frustrating because it's on such a busy road. It can cause traffic to back up, and I've seen some pretty questionable situations with cars trying to get in and out. And once it gets crowded, seating becomes another issue. There simply isn't enough seating for the number of people who show up. Obviously, it's a great problem for the business to have, but not necessarily a great experience for customers. Overall, I really enjoy coming here for the events, food trucks, seasonal brews, and wine. I just wish the parking, traffic, and seating situation were better because those things can definitely take away from an otherwise great experience.

Horrific service…read more I am not sure what I did but this woman showed me from the onset what it was like to be scorned. Hated. Belittled. Derised. I did nothing. But show up at the bar with a college fraternity brother I haven't seen in 20 years. But to her. I was scorned. My buddy asked for a Modelo. And she responded. Sarcastically. "I will see if I can find one". Of course my friend never got a Modelo. Or a response. Just an inferior substitute. Thank you. We waited. For her to show. A glance. A hello. And finally. She showed up to ask us what we would like to order. The anger. For no reason. Unsolicited. After repeating our orders multiple times. She finally brought our drinks. My buddy who I haven't seen in 20 years offers his credit card. She pounced. Do you want to start a tab? We responded but apparently it was lost. The second time she almost yelled. 'Tab yes or no!!!!!????? I only wanted to share a drink with a friend I haven't seen in 20 years. This is not customer service. This is not how you talk to customers who have done absolutely nothing wrong but order a couple of drinks on a Saturday afternoon. Sad that customer service has degenerated to this level. Parking in the front is limited but they do offer parking in the back or a short walk across the street from a strip mall. Several of their beers have won awards including their shark tears sour. I prefer their IPAs and if you like half pours you can do that too. They offer a rotating food truck and a private event area in the back you can rent. The service is always very friendly and you can tell the owners take a lot of pride in their product!
