AWe walk in and the music filled the air with upbeat rhythms and a lively crowd. Well the first let down was the lack of chicken for my chicken tacos or my wife's smoked wings but they had fried wings with a large array of various flavors. My family ordered a little of everything she crab soup, wings, burger, a Reuben and chicken finger and cheese curds. The Bartender came over and made my grandsons day by discussing his attire, adornment and hair she commented his flowing hair. Back the food the She crab had a good flavor but lacked thick and creamy consistency normally found in she crab soup, the chicken finger crunchy and juicy, cheese curds were a thumbs up burger was good and my grand son attacked his hot dog with extreme aggressiveness Overall it was just ok food not bad not life changing but see for yourself

The beer was not cold on tap, all the liquor bottles had sauce cups on top of them as if fruit flies were an issue, and the burger was not enjoyable. I cant really mention any positives about this place. Maybe i watched too much bar rescue...

What we received. $10 my a$$.

Very disappointing. My son ordered the mahi tacos-picture shows two tacos with lots of meat and mango salsa with fries. he's picky so he didn't want the wasabi sauce or the veggies just meat and salsa. So, when we got his food it was literally a piece of fish the size of my finger on a dry tortilla and nothing else. No mango salsa which he did want! And only one taco. Very misleading. I asked for some money back and they refused. The rest of the food was ok at best.

We had a good experience here this past weekend. We stopped in right at opening on Saturday with only 1 other couple in the place when we arrived. They have sanitizer right at the door, require masks for entry and have moved tables around to comply with standards for distancing. We chose a table next to the bar - a fully-stocked bar, I might add. They look like they could probably make any drink you asked for and then some. They also have a sizeable selection of drafts, which made us very happy! Our server/bartender, Lareina, was knowledgeable about the brews and pleasant to chat with. It definitely makes my husband and I both miss being able to actually sit at a bar and socialize. Drinks and meals were very prompt. Be prepared - their drafts range from $7-$10, which I find to be on the high end compared to other restaurants we frequent as well as local breweries. Hubby had a southwestern burger, which was well-cooked and came with house made chips. He ate every bite of both. I had a salad, subbed grilled chicken, and it was also very fresh and tasty with a good amount of chicken. The accompanying candied walnuts were so good! This place has a very cool vibe. There's a pong and billiard table room with some video games (21+), plenty of TVs for sports and the music was pretty good. It started filling up as we were leaving. I will definitely return for a laid-back lunch or dinner and some good beer!

This Tap It Local is located in the Dominion Commons Shopping Center. This place is fairly easy to get to and there is ample parking available as well. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. My visit here was in the afternoon on October 18, 2020. I don't normally come all the way out to Chesapeake that often. We came out to try the place during the Chesapeake Restaurant Week 2020. We came in around 4 pm. The bar area was pretty busy. It was clear that there were was little social distancing at that part of the restaurant. When we came in, we asked to be seated in the non-bar area, but they put us there anyways. At that time, we had to wait a moment for someone to come back and they moved us over to the main dining area, which was empty. After a few moments, our server Deo came to the table. We were given the regular menus, but asked for the restaurant week menu and ordered our drinks. When we got that menu, it was different than what was online. I ended up pulling up the menu on my phone from the restaurant week page to show him what is online. He did honor that menu online, but you could tell that he was surprised and didn't know that was out there. We were ready to order at that point and I went with the Bacon Cheeseburger and my mom went with the All American Burger (both on the Restaurant Week menu). After about 8 to 10 minutes, the burgers came to the table. The burgers looked really good and they were. The burger was hot and juicy and cooked the way as requested. All in all the food was great. Now, for the observations and experiences during the overall visit. As noted above the food was great and was never an issue. Service was lackluster at best and the primary reason for the two star rating. One thing off hand is that the server rarely wore his mask properly, or not at all. There were several instances where there was no coverage with the mask and other times just covering the mouth, but not the nose as well. Also, it was hard to get a hold of him when we needed to ask for a few things such as mustard, ketchup, and extra napkins. I did ask at one point when he did come over to ask to speak to a manager, but either the manager was busy and never came over, or was never notified we wanted to speak to them. In the end, the food was great and I hope this was just an off day. This place is about 30-40 minutes away from where I live, so I won't come this way very often. Although this experience will not have me rushing back, I would try them again in the future and hopefully things will be different then.

Oct 23 Restaurant week. Sunday, Looking at the restaurant selections, we decided to try Tap It in Chesapeake. Our first visit. Great service by Italia, I asked if they had a Porter beer, no, stout only in the dark beers. I decided on an IPA. very good, cold and crisp. We ordered Fried Pickles to start. Wow, These were great. Very thick, covered in seasoning, and very hot, a nice portion that we brought some home. Pickles were thick. Most likely prepared fresh. Could have been crisper, but the flavor and thickness of the Pickle made up for it. Wife ordered the Southwest burger and fries. Asked for extra crispy fries. I ordered a restaurant week special of a hot honey chicken sandwich with extra crispy fries. The sandwiches were great. highly recommend trying them. Fries, were TOUGH - CHEWY, not crisp, and not very hot. a total miss on the fries. these are the very first TOUGH & CHEWY fries i have ever had. the fries took away 2 stars.

This was a perfect experience! We had a party of 10! Everyone's food was correct and nice and hot! They have some very tasty beers. Good mimosa. The fries are absolutely delicious!

$18 burger and not even cooked. Black and Blue Burger, ordered medium rare. This was still cold. If I get sick, I will be pursuing legal action for my medical bills.

We have been eating here for two years but now I don't know if we will anymore after today. Not only is ONE mediocre bacon avocado chicken sandwich now $18.50 but they're starting to charge extra for sides like these burnt chips. I called and they said I could come in for more but I'm not risking them messing them up again. I wouldn't even feed the burnt chips to my dogs. They made me gag. Super bummed because they used to have the best fresh chips around!

    These buns are HUGE!

Very deceiving since it's in a strip mall. Think modern rustic. Our waiter was courteous and on point, no errors. There were 6 of us. No complaints. I had a grilled chicken sandwich. It was good. So, we get the wings, and the only heat they had was the warmth from the chicken. No flavor at all. It definitely wasn't sweet, and it wasn't spicy. By the third wing, we were still trying to figure out if the heat was going to kick in, and it did not. So, he's like, "OK," and I ordered the jalapeño and Swiss burger. You know me, I love jalapeños, so I'm thinking, "Okay, maybe it'll have some good savory flavor." I've done those kinds of burgers before. The flavor was mid. You could tell they just hand-patted the meat, threw it on the stove, and called it a day. No salt, no pepper, no flavor. Bland as can be. And the jalapeños weren't even hot. I was like, "What?" I grow fresh jalapeños, so I know what they're supposed to taste like, and these weren't it. One of our friends got the bourbon barbecue wings, and she said they tasted like somebody mixed a ketchup packet with some tomato paste, and that was about it. The only thing that was even decent was probably the sweet tea. And then, our friend had to order another meal. I think she got the chicken Philly or something like that, and that actually had some flavor. But here's what got me: how do the French fries have flavor, but my burger and wings don't? I will not be going back. And I'm gonna write a review, because that made no sense., they had pulled pork too. You know pulled pork is supposed to be savory, maybe with a nice sauce or two. This pulled pork they gave me? Dry. They barely gave me any sauce. No ma'am, no sir, it sucked big time. Not going back, not at all. I'm just glad I didn't pay full price, because I would've been mad.

We were there for a Monday lunch, can't speak to the dinner service. We also weren't drinking alcohol that day, though I thought the beer flights looked tempting. One of us had a cheeseburger that was requested to be "pink" and was overcooked and just blah. One of us had a chicken salad that was served with no chicken. Someone from the kitchen rushed out with a soup bowl filled with chicken slices that looked like those Perdue rotisserie chicken slices you buy at the grocery store. Dumped them on the salad. She did apologize. Our third order was a Restaurant Week special fried oyster salad vouched for by our server, Bailey, who was pleasant and efficient. It came with corn, black beans, mixed greens, cotija cheese and a spicy dressing. It wasn't awful but I think the overall concept was weird. Fried oyster taco salad? The few oyster pieces were tasty. Maybe we were there on a bad day, which happens. The chicken salad fiasco was funny. Not a place I would drive across town to try twice. Maybe stick to burgers and plenty of beer.

It was a wonderful event in an equally wonderful space. The music was on point, as well as the volume level. It was loud enough to enjoy the music, yet low enough that you could hold a conversation without screaming to hear each other. It was very peaceful and even if you don't choose a booth, the tables on the opposite side of the bar do provide some privacy due to the small partitions.
