Unacceptable Service. Will Never Return. Out of all the times I've been to Zaxby's, seven separate times (Yes, I've counted) I've received the wrong order. That's not an accident. That's a pattern of carelessness and poor service. I've finally decided I will no longer be a customer of Zaxby's and I won't recommend it to family or friends. In fact, I'll actively discourage it. My order is extremely simple: a signature sandwich with no sauce and no pickles (due to an allergy), and spicy Zax sauce on the side. Every single time, they get it wrong. And every time the employee reads the order back to me confirming it, only for me to open the bag and find pickles and/or sauce on the sandwich. I've spoken to employees and managers multiple times, but nothing has changed. There's been zero improvement. It's baffling how something this basic continues to be messed up. The food itself? Great when done correctly. But that's rare. The service? Consistently terrible. A restaurant is only as good as its consistency and Zaxby's has failed miserably in that department. I had been shopping over at the Walmart in the same lot and it had been a long day. I had a car full of stuff to take home knew I didn't want to cook that evening. Long story shore I decided to give Zaxby's a try. I've been wondering about the place for a while and I'm glad I visited. I went through the drive-through and checked out the board. Fortunately there was a couple of cars in front of me and that gave me time to acquaint myself with the menu. I ended up ordering the Spicy Signature Sandwich combo and upsized it. It came out to like $10. Totally shocked honestly. The same meal at McD's or Chick Filet would have run me no less than $13-$14. I took my food home opened it up and was very happy with what I saw. The chicken sandwich was exceptionally filling and there was a ton of crinkle cut fries in the box to. Great experience all around and I'm glad I gave them a try. I'll be back. The food is fine and there is not a single Zaxby's in America that is quick. But the accuracy is killing them. Absolutely positively do NOT go through the drive thru at this location without checking your order before leaving. This location is the worst I have ever been to for accuracy. The line is always long when I pass but heck I had time so I waited. About 20 minutes later I ordered the chicken tenders, coleslaw and fries. Chicken tenders was crispy, lacked a little flavor though but the dipping sauce took care of that. For the fries, I wished it was the skinny crinkled one but it was popping hot so it was still good. We were in the area and stopped in for a light meal since we hadn't been before. I have to say that i really wish we would've gone somewhere else...anywhere else. We tried a few different things and nothing was particularly good. The wings were not good. The chip and dip was cold, hard and just bad. I didn't care for the nibbler, but my husband thought it was ok. The fries were cold and over seasoned. This was the worst experience I have EVER had a chicken restaurant, I just wanted a sandwich and a lemonade, the drink dispenser didn't have any lemonade, I asked if they had lemonade in the back and they said they had pink lemonade in the machine, I went to the machine again but my eyes had not fooled me the first time, the machine was completely out of all forms of lemonade, bruised and beaten I return to my chicken sandwich, I feel betrayed and lied to, not by the kind and caring staff but by the twisted management that was un willing to provide the necessary tools for the production of my lemonade. read more

Terrible customer service, the little girl with the hat and yellow stars on her face is very rude. My niece and I came in to order and I used my reward for free tenders with a Nibblerz meal and total came to $22. When I questioned it, she snidely said oh it didn't come off, like ma'am, you know good well that one meal isn't $22! I kept hearing there was a Zaxbys in Chesapeake but never knew where it was. I found it by accident while dropping my daughter off at her dance school. Due to staffing issues, only the drive thru was open. The line is always long. I would suggest ordering ahead of time. The first time I went I ordered the chicken sandwich with fries. It was ok, nothing to write home about. The second time I went i ordered the boneless bbq wings with fries. The bbq sauce is delicious. I must say looking at some of the reviews... You might be a little nervous to eat here. Lol! But hey! I'm a fan of Zaxby's! Someone turned me on to this place when we were driving from NC. I love love there wings and things and I'm a wimp when it comes to hot sauce. So the wimpy sauce is perfect just for me.. I usually order the wings and things traditional style with the celery and a sprite to drink. It's great now that they ask you if you would like celery sticks with it. Cause waste not want not. I think that's how it goes. Lol! I've never had any issues at this location. Everyone is always friendly and my food always comes out right. Okay, this restaurant is not good as I expected. The line is very long and the cashier could not hear me well. When I ordered there are missing sandwiches, that I wonder why it's so cheap. When I got home I was bragging to my kids about their food and sandwiches. I was very disappointed. It was hard and no taste, the way they put it together was very sloppy and the sweet tea is not sweet at all. Chicken is very hard and tasteless. Zaxby's Hillcrest Pkwy is among one of the most unprofessional fast food establishments that I have had the misfortune of patronizing. Let me start by saying Raising Cane's Chesapeake recently opened and I have always been a fan. My fiancé and his friends raved about Zaxby's offering more and tasting better so like a good sport I thought I would give them a try. Two weeks ago we went to the Hillcrest Pkwy location only to see that there were notes on the front entrance door and drive thru window stating that they had closed early due to staffing. So we thought we would try the new VA Beach location (30 min away). When we arrived to the Va Beach location we parked and then a staff member popped his head out the drive thru window stating "hey boss I like that car, but we closed for the evening because we are short staffed. Come check us out tomorrow." So we left with me saying "I think Cane's has already won this battle with customer service alone. Today we were again in the area of Hillcrest Pkwy. We decided to give Zaxby's another try. When we parked, we noticed yet another note on the door, however there appeared to be cars in the parking lot so we were sure they were open. The note read "Mobile and online orders only. Dining room closed". Against my better judgment we got in the drive thru line. I pulled the menu up and started to place an online order as we waited for the line to move. When we arrived at the speaker a Zaxby's team member explained that they were only accepting mobile orders for pick up. We explained that we were currently paying for our order online. She replied "ok you can drive around ". As we arrive to the pick up window after waiting a few minutes with cars ahead of us we were greeted by a staff member who popped his head out to ask if we had a mobile order. We explained that we had a mobile order and gave him the name. He came back to notify us that the system likely didn't take the order and if it did he would gladly give us a refund since they were closing at 6:00 p.m. due to short staffing (it was 5:40 at the time). He also recommended that we come back "tomorrow" for the order . I asked "sir are you asking us to come back tomorrow for food that we are ordering today." He said "yes because unfortunately we aren't taking any more orders and likely your order didn't go thru because our system cut it off." Mind you we were the last and final car in the drive thru line". He then asked what we ordered. We explained that we ordered a house salad with fried chicken and a 3. Piece chicken strip meal with a lemonade and regular fries. He said "I got you. I'll be right back". He came back a couple of minutes later and asked the total of my order. I explained that it was $20.77. He asked if I could just let them know if the amount showed up on my bank statement. I informed him that that this was a horrible experience and that it was my first experience with Zaxby's. To Zaxby's Corporate- people have options of where they spend their time and money. If you don't get with it you will get LOST. Someone from the top better come see about some change management because the experience of attempting to become a Zaxby's customer was less than pleasurable. I can't comment on the product/food because I've never had it (thanks to Zaxby's management or mismanagement), but I assure you I will tell others because places like this don't belong in our communities. Poor service should not be rewarded with sales. I would have given no stars had I the option. read more

Was driving down to the OBX for the 4th of July and decided to stop at zaxbys for the first time. The woman who took my order, Christine, was so nice and helped me pick out my meal. Christine was very hospitable and was great to talk to! The restaurant was super clean and looked great. 10/10 will be stopping on every trip down! read more

Came in today to get the new Asian Zensation zalad, I got way more than that... I ordered my food, the wait was not long as service was great, but it gets better. after I ate my zalad (which was great by the way) I went to the bathroom to wash up. I was followed in by 2 workers, later learning their names Alex Della Torre and Tucker Owen's. They followed me in and locked the door and said, "don't fight back, it'll hurt much less." So I didn't, they pushed me up against the sink and did unspeakable things to my butt. They left me in tears and shambles and I will never recover. 5 stars will be coming back! read more

We tried Zaxbys for the first time. We kept on seeing it on our way through but this time decided to give it a try. We simply got the Signature Chicken Sandwich and Fries and it did not disappoint. The fries were excellent and had an interesting seasoning to it. The Signature Chicken Sandwich was really good. It is much bigger than Chick fil A, but Chick fil A is juicier. But the Zaxby sandwich had this tangy, vinaigrette like sauce, very good. About 30 mins after we finished our meals, we said to each other, "I would go back." Our daughter liked the fries. It is on the pricier side. Service was fine. Drive thru was friendly. Dining room was closed. read more

I love Zaxby's chicken. As well as their sauce. I love the one on Hillcrest. Every time I've been they've been friendly and helpful. Even when they forgot part of my order they chased me down in the parking lot to make sure I got my stuff. The only down side I have with Zaxby's is that there isn't one closer to me. lol read more

Their website says they open at 10:30, all the other Zaxby's open at 10:30, the sign on their door says they open at 10:30. I can't for the life of me understand the poor reviews. Our party of three arrived around 6:00pm to dine in. We found the Restuarant with only three tables of guests, each group had 6 -8 people though. The restaurant was clean and presented well. We only waited 2-3 Minutes to place our orders. A gentleman ahead of us had just finished placing a large to-go order. We were pleasantly greeted and placed our orders; chicken tender club meal, a Kickin Chicken Sandwich Meal & I ordered the Grilled chicken Cobb Salad. I had seen an online menu offering a Caesar Salad with Chicken, but they no longer offer it. To suit my dietary needs they made adjustments (no fried onions & no eggs) to the Cobb salad. They could not have been nicer or more patient with me. Upon receiving our cups we served ourselves at the drink kiosk & took our seats. The wait for our food was probably about 10 minutes, not terrible but the food once ready was hot & fresh! The "gentleman" in font of us starting complaining after 5 minutes & continued until his food was ready (he was a jerk quite simply). Not one of the staff lost their cool, but remained pleasant and professional. Working restaurant positions can be grueling and thankless at times.
