This is my first time trying Dave's Hot Chicken. I went through the drive through and he was patient with me, as I asked about menu options! I got the #4! With the kale slaw on the side! I didn't know the sauce would be drizzled on the slider. But it was ok! I'm not a sauce girly but it gave the tender flavor! I got not hot for my spice level! I also typically get no salt on fries, but wanted to try the full experience. They weren't too salty. If you're going during a not busy time, still prepare to wait about 10 mins after your food is ordered. Which is ok for fresh food, My sandwich wasn't hot. I also liked the kale salad. I first discovered this chain when I saw this location open up in a nearby lot across the street from where I was one night. The wind from an incoming rainstorm knocked over the giant inflatable chicken outside. I made up my mind right then and there to stop by for a visit one day. When I finally got around to giving it a try, I dined in and was only semi-pleased. The staff were very nice, as the district manager was there at the time. The chicken itself can get quite chewy and hard to bite. The sauce is OK at best. The fries leave a little to be desired. The spiciness levels are very noticeable when requested at high volumes. I like that they offer slices of pickles with everything you order. The bread isn't too bad, as long as it's not soggy. When you order one of the Mozzarella Cheese Planks, they give it to you in a little box with a cup of sauce, a slice of bread, and a couple of pickles. I was not expecting it to have such a presentation and I have to admit, the charming nature of it almost brought a tear to my eye. It was just about the cutest damn thing I've seen in a long time. I mean, who thinks enough to do that!? Just pure thoughtfulness, that's what it was! It is VERY loud inside and the music choices aren't great. The interior is very flashy and riddled with graffiti-styled "Art". The one on Battlefield is a little better food-wise, I have to say. Which is disappointing. Maybe I'll give this one another try in the future. I still feel bad for the giant inflatable chicken that fell over in the parking lot that night. I'm only rating 3 stars because my experience wasn't bad but it wasn't the best ever. When I think of Nashville hot chicken, I wouldn't say Dave's is exactly that. It's a rendition, the spices they use have an Indian flavor that I was not expecting. The quality of the food is great! The chicken tenders are huge, juicy and very flavorful but maybe not the flavor you would expect. Knowing this now, I would go back to try it again. The Dave's sauce is also not my favorite but mixed with honey makes it better. Also if you want the full flavor get the Hot, unless you can take it then get spicy (I do not recommend ) the spicy is very spicy lol. Service was slooooow. I remember pulling up and being excited because it didn't look too busy. Maybe 3 or 4 orders ahead of mine on the screen. Not bad. I STILL ended up waiting about 30 minutes for my simple chicken sandwich meal. I even tipped on the screen when ordering. I had to hurry out because my lunch break was almost finished. Went here for lunch around 12 pm. Decided to just use the drive-through rather than going inside. No difficulties occurred when ordering today. Did have a little wait on my food though, but nothing crazy. The staff working today were friendly and nice. I ordered the Dave's #2: 2 sliders with slaw, fries, and pickles (9/10) I got mild spice and I honestly could've gotten it more spicy. Everything tasted fresh and my fries were extra crispy and seasoned. I liked the flavor of the chicken, so I really have no complaints with the meal. I did ask for ranch to go with my meal, but was informed that they only have Dave's sauce available so that kind of sucked, but I get it lol. I also got a cup of mac & cheese on the side (10/10). They did forget to initially give me my mac & cheese, so I did have to ask them for it along with some utensils, which also weren't included initially in my bag either. I totally see myself going back, I think next time I'll do just the tenders rather than the sliders and also get a spicier heat level than I did today. I've been a few times and my food has always come out hot and tasty. The hot spice is my favorite level of heat. The loaded fries and the nuggets are probably my favorite so far. My first visit (take-out) thinking that hot chicken flavoring would have a lot of heat I started on the low side since I was ordering for myself and two other people for lunch. I selected number 3, number 4 and number 1 from the menu. I asked that number 3, number 4 be light and number 1 medium heat. There was no heat in the flavoring of the chicken at all so my friends and I figured maybe it was in the sauce packets that came with the order so we opened the packets put it on the chicken. I was captivated by the wild exterior colors emblazoned on the outside so I was naturally curious to try the food. The service was friendly and the cashier did a great job walking through the dishes. I opted for a medium heat sheet they said you'll get a bit of kick- more on that in a bit. The combo included a slider and a chicken strip and fries. I ordered a strawberry lemonade minute maid slush to pair with my meal. The wait time was about 8 minutes and the packaging for the food was well laid out on the platter. The food was really good with extra thick pickles with a good crunch not soggy or drenched in pickle juice. The fries had a nice dusting of cajun like seasoning. The slush wasn't too sweet. The slider had a good amount of spice to it without being too much on the heat. The restaurant also has fountain beverages and there is a drive through with ample parking. I'm glad they had zero coke! I can't wait for the one in Richmond to open now that I've had it!!! Idk what that slaw mixture is on there but that, with the Dave sauce, the pickles and some honey... I've been waiting to check out this new restaurant. I did think it was the dipped hot chicken. We arrived with with about 30 minutes before our Bible Study. Ugh service was slow. I was excited to try the new mozzarella sticks. I ordered a 3 count of them and a 10 piece tender. Upon arriving to the store, there was nobody at the register. I patiently waited about 5 minutes and still nothing. I saw that my order was on the pickup shelf so i grabbed it and went to my car. Upon entering my car, I opened my container and saw there was only 2 mozzarella sticks - good thing I checked. So i went back inside, waited a little more hoping someone would come to help. After nobody came, I begrudgingly called out for someone, and still nothing. Finally someone walked past the window behind the register and i called out for them. The community loves and supports this hot chicken so much that we will wait almost 45 minutes (in my case) for some Dave's HC hot from the cooks. The chicken is a little spicy for me but I ate it fast and with happiness, smiles! The chicken was greagreat, the decor inside is cute and very clean. Most of Dave's customers do not eat their order inside. Take out is king for the most , post COVID conconsumers. Hubby chose to eat inside. The wait may be long to get your order, the variety of sides available were limited, but the chicken and superior customer service wins the prize. I want to also give them some grace, and not necessarily leave a bad review because I can understand how overwhelming an opening of a new restaurant can be.
