Placed was halfway packed 20 min after opening. That was the beginning of the review I forgot to finish maybe a year ago. There's been alot of changes to the restaurant since then. It's now much bigger with more options on the menu. Great music playing in the background and every game you can think of to play! Chick N Roll (CNR) is a go to spot if you are hungry for a phenomenal chicken sandwich with a Korean twist. Ordering is a breeze at one of the kiosks. The friend staff will bring your food to you and bus your table when done. The large parking lot had plenty of spots. decor is modern and minimal with great accent decorations. Food wise CNR does chicken VERY well. My go to is the CNR sandwich with spicey soy garlic sauce on the chicken. The sandwich has cheese and shredded cabbage on it and there are several side options. My favorite is the sweet potato waffle fries. The pair of chicken wings also make for a great addition to your meal. I ordered the CNR Combo with the Spicy Soy Garlic chicken sandwich, fries, and a strawberry pineapple refresher. The chicken sandwich was absolutely delicious. The flavors were bold, and the bun was perfectly soft, holding everything together without falling apart. The strawberry pineapple refresher was a great addition; light, refreshing, and not overly sweet. However, I was a bit confused when I didn't see sushi on the menu at this location. Isn't it called Chick N Roll? I know the Portsmouth location offers sushi, so I was expecting the same here. It feels like they're missing half of their concept without it! Everything is packed to go but there are tables available. Unfortunately trash bins were full and the tables needed to be wipe down. My appetizers shrimp shumai. They look like the kind you get from the frozen section at Costco. Rating 3/5 I got the CNB BBQ wings. it was ok. There was a lot of meats on the wings. Flavor was average. Rating 3/5 Lastly was the bulgogi sub combo. The filling was good and good portion of meat. The problem I had with this sandwich was the bread. After a couple of bites the bread split apart. Don't get me wrong the bread was nice and soft. It's just the spine can't hold the fillings. Make sure you grab a fork before you leave. Rating 3/5 Overall three stars. So when I heard that they were opening in Chesapeake, I was so happy that they were going to be so much closer to me! There are self-service kiosks that make ordering super easy. When you do see a staff member, they are always super friendly and make sure you get your goodies! - Noms - I've had a number of things, but I especially love their CNR Deluxe chicken sando, chicken bites and their pickled veggies. They have really perfected the art of the KFC, the OG, the only KFC I knew, long before I immigrated to North America LOL. Any chicken component they prepare for any of their items, is always juicy and that perfect crispiness of a KFC. The sauces are awesome! I love ordering their side of pickled veggies too. The pickles balances out the fried chicken. My only wish is that I would love for them to add the Korean radish to the mix of pickled veggies. Nothing like chikin mu with KFC! Popped in this evening for a chance to roll in and get some chicken. I was taken aback by the decor at how zen, clean, and nicely decorated it was inside. There was plenty of seating. I checked out the menu online before stepping inside and was happy to find an ordering station that was self-service. A staff member stepped out and greeted me and said hello. The menu screen was very easy to navigate and offered a thorough description of the menu items. You could opt to pay at the counter, mobile pay, or tap/insert card to pay. I order some potato croquettes, chicken bites, & a passion fruit milk tea with boba. Everything was nearly packaged in these slide out carton containers. They neatly stacked one on top of the others. First timers! This location in Chesapeake, it's definitely a good one. The decorations inside are gorgeous, very cute place. You could order your food from Computer screens and pay without even having to speak to anyone. There is a button that you can press for someone to come out and speak with you if need be, which I like But a little standoffish too. The food is definitely five stars, absolutely delicious, my husband and I both got sandwiches. I got the katsu he got the CNR chicken sandwich. It was definitely very fresh, as well as the fries, and you can add a fry and soda for an extra two dollars. The one thing that I didn't like was the fact that when I asked to switch my cheeses to provolone rather than the American, it seem like it was a problem, which I know this food can't be premade so I just wasn't understanding that at all. Not everybody likes American cheese, and the sandwich I wanted had American cheese on it. My best friend suggested this location for Christmas Eve Eve lunch. We arrived shortly after 2pm and were the only party for all of 5 minutes. This place is popular but they serve great food fast. I can be indecisive but loved there were so many options to choose from. I also liked that while there was a staff to take to go orders (she was helpful) there were multiple tablets to order from that had pictures of the menu items. I have 0 complaints about the food and it is a great value! I ordered the CNR Deluxe Sandwich soy garlic flavor and added bacon...my sandwich was huge and so flavorful. My bestfriend said it rivaled fast food chicken sandwiches and he told no lies. I also loved their French fries (one of my favorite foods). Honestly nothing I ordered or tried was bad. The shrimp tempura and spicy soy garlic wings were cooked perfectly and I also enjoyed my boyfriend's bulgogi wrap (they were also able to accommodate our request of no mushrooms). I even tried takoyaki for the first time and it was flavorful. The sweet tea and mango lemonade was great and if they could be combined that would be my go to. We also got some boba, sweet potato fries and hush puppies. The boba was a slightly different texture than the other local boba spots. It was less... chewy. Not bad and it didn't ruin the drink or anything, just not what I was expecting. The hush puppies were good, just a little burnt when we tried it. Sweet potato fries were pretty good as well. As for service, most of the workers were in the back preparing the food. There are a couple of self-serve tablets you can use to submit your order. However, if you needed additional assistance with ordering/special requests on the menu, there is a bell you can ring on the counter of the register to grab one of the staff's attention. We kind of had to wait a long time too. Longer than expected, but we weren't upset about it because the quality of the food was worth the wait! It was a bit on the pricier side. We weren't able to get through but you could order through Yelp with grubhub. We got the soy garlic and sweet and savory and 2 side orders of fries. It was very good! My first time trying Chick N Roll (Chesapeake location) and overall it was a good experience. I ordered takeout which included the medium 10 piece wings with the sweet & savory sauce along with a side of sweet potatoes, regular fries and passion fruit refresher which was split between two people. As I walked into the restaurant, I noticed you had to order on a kiosk which was very detailed with the menu and pictures. The only downside to that experience was I felt as if I had any questions I had to wait for staff to come out from the kitchen to assist me, which could take time if they were busy preparing orders. Also if you're paying with cash they have a sign near the kiosk that you had to ring the bell in order for the staff to come assist you with that form of payment. Luckily, I knew what I wanted after looking at the menu on Yelp and reading previous reviews. The food was tasty, warm in temperature by the time I arrived at home. My son got the Katsu last time, and opted for the CNR Premium this time, and he was literally moaning how great it was every bite. My wife tried the beef bulgogi sandwich and really liked it. She is the hardest to please in our group, and she was delighted. We all got the sweet potato waffle fries again and they were perfection. Look, if you're read my other reviews over the years, you know it's very rare for all 4 of us to agree on the greatness of a restaurant, and Chick N Roll easily gets out highest praise and recommendations. Not only is the food top notch, highest quality, big portions, but it's actually very affordable. A family of 4 left absolutely full and happy, delighted even, for $58. I can't speak to the entire menu but I can say the items I tried (Spicy Soy Garlic Chicken Wings and Beef Bulgogi Burrito Wrap) were amazing. I found the wings not quite as crispy as some other Korean fried chicken wings I've tried but the flavor was fantastic. They are some of the best wings I've ever tasted. The Beef Bulgogi Burrito Wrap was also outstanding. The taste was reminiscent of a Philly cheesesteak but with more complex flavors and different textures. My wife and I really enjoyed both items. I ordered takeout on my visit but there are tables available if you wish to dine inside. On my visit there were several parties eating in the dining room. The space is clean and attractive. Orders can be placed online or on a kiosk in the store. I paused over the kiosk for a bit and an employee arrived to see if I needed help. She was very friendly and helpful. I placed my order and received my food in just a few minutes. I was surprised how quickly my order was completed. It was fresh, hot and absolutely scrumptious when I shared it at home with my wife. I am very happy I tried Chick N Roll and look forward to sampling more of the menu in the near future. Korean fried chicken is my favorite type of fried chicken, so I was super excited when I saw Chick N Roll added a location in Chesapeake. I'd never been to the Portsmouth location, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. As others have mentioned, the establishment was very clean and nicely decorated. Service was very efficient as well. You can order at a kiosk and there is an option for them to notify you by text when your order is ready. The staff also announces when your order is ready, so if you don't see the text it's no biggie. :) We got the food relatively fast. I got the soy garlic CNR sandwich and my fiance got the spicy soy garlic version. We both upgraded our meals to include fries and a drink, which was only a $3 upcharge. I also added two wings to my order to try. When I opened up my sandwich, it looked soooo good. I just knew it was going to be bomb...and it was! Probably one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had. The crispiness of the chicken, along with the slaw and katsu sauce was a perfect combination of flavors. My fiance said his spicy soy garlic sandwich had the perfect spice level--it had a kick to it but wasn't overpowering. The sandwich was so big that we were only able to eat a few fries. I was only able to eat one of the two wings I ordered. Next time only one of us will probably order fries and we will share so we don't waste any food. It had the perfect amount of spice. Regular and sweet fries...both were yummy! Potato Croquettes...wonderful. 1 each is plenty for an appetizer. Hushpuppies...yummy and a large portion.
