Atmosphere was great. Service was good and the manager came by several times to check. Try the dumplings for the appetizer and the lobster for the main course. Pricey on the Cabernets so we settled on the Pinot. The Bloody Marty was awesome during the cocktail phase of the evening. read more

My husband and I dined at Zachs last Friday. What a wonderful experience. From a romantic sleigh ride to a elegant cabin feel. The server, Ben, from VA was very knowledgeable and suggested some wonderful items from the menu. Can't wait to return! read more

I've been wanting to eat (again) at Zach's for a while (last time was about 4 years ago); they have a new chef and I was looking forward to see how he refreshed the "on mountain" dining experience. Let's say we were not disappointed! I had the grilled vegetable starter while my wife had the tuna crudo. I am partial to a good beet and they were perfect with great flavor and texture, as were the carrots and the other veggies (I couldn't tell you what they all were!). I sampled the tuna (don't fight over the fish in a fine dining restaurant; just a tip...), and I have to say that some sushi restaurants should start looking over their shoulders... melt in your mouth. For entrees we had the duck and the pork tenderloin; both were cooked *perfectly*, I've no idea how the textures came out like they did and I consider myself someone who knows one side of a stove from the other. The duck was medium, but the crispy skin was, well, crispy. Delightful. I want another as I'm writing this. The tenderloin was melt in your mouth; I've never got even close to getting one like that. Sh*t, can I go back right now? I should talk about the wine... Sean, the sommelier, chose us a wine, an Oregon Pinot, that paired with everything we consumed - the starter, main, coffee and dessert (wtf?!!). How do you do that? Not just for us, every table drank wine and everyone seemed happy. 20 tables... crikey! He can choose you a wine for the entire menu Zach's offers, these guys work together. From the sleigh ride up and down thru all the staff being so welcoming and knowledgeable we had a great evening. It wasn't the cheapest meal I ever had but quite probably the best. I'm not going to wait another 4 years this time. read more

Horrible service, Josh, our waiter decided that it's too hard to split a check, so he complained profusely to our table and said we could split the check, but "it would take me an extra 30 minutes and it would be hard for me." They forgot two different appetizers, and even forgot to bring one after notifying the manager that what we ordered never made it to the table. The food was well made, but every entree was lukewarm or cold. The manager was good at handling complaints from customers, and gave us free dessert for our table, but it doesn't completely make up for the bad service. read more

Unbelievable! A sleigh ride to the restaurant and awesome food and service. We are on a property in the area, and we were lucky enough to get out early this year for some time on the slopes before the crowds emerge. If you're visiting vail or Beaver Creek this is a must on your dining list. The elk is incredible. The ambience is perfect, so don't miss an opportunity to visit this great restaurant. read more

I was excited about coming here due to all the five-star reviews I read. My personal experience at Zachs however left much to be desired. When Our party of eight entered the restaurant I was very impressed at how nicely appointed it was. After reviewing the somewhat limited menu I decided I would have the jumbo scallops. When I attempted to place my order the server told me that they were out of scallops. It was not a big deal so I went to my Plan B which was the Angus steak cooked well done. Our food was brought out the short time later and I cut into my steak only to realize not only was it not cooked well done but it was actually rare in the center. The server was very apologetic and took my steak back to have it cooked properly. A short time later it was brought back to me again and once again I cut into it and this time it was cooked medium. At this point I was starting to get annoyed and I sent it back once again. While I waited I wondered to myself if the term "well done" was subject to various interpretations. Anyway the third time was the charm and my steak was brought back well done. It was not particularly flavorful and I did not really enjoy it. By this time the rest of my party had already finished eating their meals and I was basically eating alone. To add insult to injury I overheard a server bringing food to a neighboring table ,who had arrived well after we had , saying "Which one of you had the scallops"! I was incredulous. When I pointed out to our server that the neighboring table was served the scallops they had ordered she simply replied that she was told they were out . Needless to say we skipped dessert. To their credit they did not charge me for the steak and perhaps I just dined there on an off night , however my review is accurate and it happened exactly this way. I really expected more from a restaurant with the reputation that Zack's seems to have. It is definitely not worth getting frostbitten and poisoned by diesel fumes on 15 minute sleigh ride each way. read more

The service and experience at Zach's could not have been better. Went a few nights ago and we where lucky enough to go up in a Blizzard, yes it made it better! The food was delicious and was prepared with perfect timing. The sommelier took the lead and paired a glass of wine to every dish and every recommendation was spot on. I highly recommend giving the whole experience a try. read more

Just had dinner at Zach's. Standard overall experience. Good and professional service crew. The food is expensive and well presented but somehow institutional. The wine list is wide and comprehensive but over priced. Also few options for low to moderate priced wines. The salon is ample and cozy, but the so called private salon is simple and basement looking, low ceilings and poor decorations. If for any reason you booked a large party they most likely will throw you there. The last detail is the sleigh ride.. Is just a ride in a snow mower and you get charged $5.00 each person. Lower your expectations and you won't be disappointed .... read more

I have had lunch here 3-4 times while skiing with friends who are members of the associated club. Each time I tried something different and each time I felt my lunch was just average in quality, taste and presentation. The club members I dined with all felt differently and expressed to each other how amazing their food was. Of course their club fees demand that they support this overpriced hum drum. read more

Great food, great service. Small cozy atmosphere. Sleigh ride was quick, 10 minutes tops. Beautiful night views of Beaver Creek, and about a zillion stars to gaze at! read more

I have lived in the Vail for a few years & had the opportunity to dine at Zach's recently! I have to say it is probably one of the best meals I have had in the state! Such an amazing experience! read more

What a disappointment! From the time we got to the cabin, there was one screw up after another. First, our party of 13 was seated at the wrong table, so after we were comfortable they moved us. And there really wasn't enough room even then. Then, our party wanted to split the check, but the waiter Josh just argued with us that it was too hard for him to split the check, it would take him so much longer to total the check, and that we would get our food at different times because it would be too hard for the kitchen to figure things out. And we're just getting started. After we looked at the menu and ordered drinks (with no suggestions from the waiter), my adult daughter tried to order her appetizer. But Josh didn't like that idea. He lectured her about how she needed to wait for everyone else to order--again, because it was too hard for him. Eventually, she cut him off and told him to just take her order and put it in to the kitchen whenever he felt like it. And you'll really love this: when the appetizers came, they never brought my daughter's appetizer! They offered to bring us bread, which we accepted, but we didn't know it was $14. And it was terrible. When our entrees came, the food was cold for nearly all 13 of us. Some of it was good even cold, like the elk and the filet. Some of it was not, like the Brussel sprouts, mushrooms, corn bisque, and asparagus. One of us never got their side order. They took the drink menus from us, so we had to ask to get them back to get more drinks. But then they took them again. I guess they didn't want us to drink. Then when we were leaving, they let people who had gotten to the restaurant after us (and were finished eating after us) literally push us out of the way to take the seats in the "sleigh," leaving our party with no seats. Although some of us had to stand up, which wasn't safe, I was told I had to kneel on a coat that was laid on the floor, while the eight or more children that pushed past us sat comfortably. Really?! The excuse was that there was a shift change so they didn't have both sleighs running. Our bill was over $1100, and I must say, I've gotten better food and way better service at Outback Steakhouse. What a disappointment. This is what you get at the Ritz? NEVER AGAIN. read more

Adam and Kenny were fantastic! The atmosphere was quaint and inviting. The ride up was adventurousness, plan for a little cold it's worth it! We will be back!! read more

Zachs Cabin is an enchanting experience, taking a snowcat drawn sleigh to dinner, and pulling up to a glowing cabin on the ski slope! The scallops are the best I have ever had... our server, Ben, was very friendly and knowledgable about the menu. All the staff that came to our table was too! The Happy Birthday written in chocolate on the desert plate was a personalized touch to help us celebrate a friends birthday! All in all an amazing experience... one of my favorites in the Valley!!! read more

We had a magical night! It started with a moonlight sleigh ride where our very knowledgeable guide Adam kept us warm and entertained. Our waiter Ben was very warm hearted and friendly. He was able to answer our many menu questions and give exceptional recommendations. We will be back for many years to come for our grand mountain adventure! Thank You Zach's Cabin! Hope to be back soon! read more

We had an amazing night at Zach's Cabin. The staff was very welcoming and our server, Josh, was very knowledgeable with the menu and attentive to our needs. The food and wine was superb as well as the ambience. We will definitely return. read more

Excellent food, wine and service. A great restaurant all around, and that's not even considering the amazing view. The sommelier is very knowledgeable and approachable. The sleigh ride is a novelty, the dining experience is something you'll want to do again and again. read more

Sleigh ride up and down the hill seemed more geared for kids or teenagers. You ride up and down with about 40 other people. The meal was about average. The ambiance was nice and service was good. We had the signature dish of elk tenderloin which was not hot when it was served. The beef tenderloin however was very good as were the deserts. The wine list had a good variety but somewhat overpriced. All in all about an average experience. read more

We got lucky on the way up....we rode in a covered cab tractor. Not so lucky on the way back down. The fumes from the sleigh ride was unpleasant. The setting was very nice...large room with a huge fireplace in it. The food was very good...my husband had the lobster and loved it but the portion size was small. The wine selection on the other hand was impressive but way overpriced. We wanted an american merlot and the prices went from one choice of $37-to over $150. We did sit next to wolfgang puck so that was fun. I don't know if we would go back. But your options are limited when your staying at the snow cloud...unless you go into beaver creek. read more

WORST dining experience. The ride up and down the mountain was cool (($50 for ten people), but $1,100 later (4 adults and 6 kids) the dining experience was less than satisfying. Wine prices are more than triple markup. One adult meal was served completely incorrect ($56 entree), 3 of 7 steaks were cooked to the wrong temperature (again $60 each). Children's meals were $30 each which included a buffet with slimy chicken legs and thighs, no white meat. When requesting a chicken breast, my son was served undercooked chicken. Luckily I cut into it before he ate it. The waitress told us she would take the two kids meals off of the bill, then only took off one. They did give the kids free dessert, but for all of the mistakes, that was too little too late. When departing, the hostess told us another patron had requested a sleigh, so we would have to wait an additional 15 minutes for another sleigh, even though the one waiting had enough space for us. The sleigh drivers were very polite and helpful, and had to encourage her that we could fit and leave. Ridiculous!! read more

We dined at Zach's on a Wednesday night. The dining room was about half full at most. The whole staff seemed very inexperienced for a restaurant of that caliber and with those prices. There were six of us. It took some time for all of us to get our drinks. One of our group talked to the waitress about a specific whiskey which he was told they had. The bartender delivered the drinks, his did not come and when he questioned where it was , he was told that they didn't have that whiskey. That is fine but why wasn't he told that without having to ask where his drink was. They bought a basket of rolls with 5 rolls(again there were 6 of us). Two diners who ordered filets got raw meat-one had asked for medium rare, one medium rare to medium. My corn bisque literally stuck to my teeth, i couldn't even finish half of it. One friend ordered a glass of wine with his dinner which never came until the wine "manager" came over to ask how he liked the wine. He did give him a complimentary glass at that point. The wine bottles are all very overpriced but the wine by the glass was good and more affordable. There was nothing on the dessert menu to tempt me( and I wanted to be tempted) it was a beautiful, starry night but Zach's really has to step up their game. They are charging prices for a top notch restaruant but they are executing like a mall chain. read more
