If you're staying in the downtown Sheridan hotel and don't know where to drink look no further than yard house because it only is it walking distance, it's actually attached the the hotel. We came here every night of our trip for at least a drink because not only do they have a ton of beers on tap, they have a very large menu and reasonable happy hour. There are multiple yard house locations and I've been to a few but this one is by far one of my favorites! I came here last night, a weary traveler across time zones. I think I mistook Yard House in Denver for Yards Brewing in Philadelphia. Different places that both enjoy serving beer in giant "yard-size" glasses if you want to get in touch with your inner frat boy. First, the array of beer on draft is dizzying-- so many choices! I picked the house IPA which was delicious. I was not super hungry so I had the hummus with lamb and pistachios and pita. This was also really good and hit the spot for a later-night dinner. I especially liked that this had soft fresh pita as well as crunchy toasted pita. It added a level of thought and care that I had not expected in a snack. I sat at the bar. The servers were attentive but not too much so. The music was fine-- I heard Nirvana, Queen, and...BTO. The food here is always consistently good. A large menu that will satisfy anyone's taste. This location was our first Yardhouse to visit more than 8 years ago. We've since been to locations throughout the country. Busy restaurant but Riley, Micah and Andrew never allowed our glasses to empty before they were checking on us again. The Tomato Bisque is awesome as well as the grilled cheese and the Carnivore Pizza was great! I had a delicious Paloma and it's as good as you can get on the Mexican coast. We arrived late in Denver and this place caught my eye as we were heading to our hotel. The place is pretty chill, cool ambiance, TVs everywhere, nice bar area, and spacious seating options. They have some unique menu items and drink options are plentiful. What I liked? I opted for the Lobster and Shrimp Agnolotti and I must say it was delicious. The creaminess of the sauce and the marriage of the flavors provided for a delicious late night meal. I also had the Blueberry something (blame it on the alcohol) which was delicious. What I didn't like? The fact that they didn't have garlic toast to accompany my meal, that is all! (lol) Overall... You get what you pay for and honestly I probably over paid. The service was very hit or miss. Our waitress remembered stuff we wanted but took forever to get it to us. It was our first day in Denver and we decided to give Yard House a try for dinner. It was a Saturday night, and they were rather crowded. Still, we were seated quickly. It took the server a few minutes to get to us, but that was to be expected with the crowds. Our server was very friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. That was very helpful because both the food and beer menus are huge. I ordered the Cuban Roast Pork Dip - a French dip style sandwich with a red mojo dip. This sandwich was great! Lots of flavor from the pork, and that dip was unusual and tasty. My girlfriend got the Caprese Chicken - an Italian dish with a white wine sauce. It was delicious as well. We really enjoyed everything about this place. Considering we knew nothing about it before going it, we were pleasantly surprised. Great food and service, even on a busy Saturday night! I will start off by saying we did visit this restaurant on the day of the avalanche celebration downtown. Having said that, the restaurant was not very busy at the time. The hostess quoted us 25 to 30 minute wait the wait was 45 minutes. We sat down the waitress was very welcoming she brought us water and asked us if we wanted a couple of minutes to look at the menu. She came back shortly there after and took our drink orders and our food orders. After 15 minutes she told me the brand of beer I ordered was not available. And if I wanted a different beer it would take 10 to 15 minutes to get the beer. I declined the re-order. The food took about 20 more minutes to arrive. The portions were very small and the food was not that great. My wife had a salad she said it was good it was the Cobb salad. I asked the waitress twice for some hot sauce for my very very small tacos. She never brought the hot sauce I asked a passing waiter for hot sauce he got me two different sauces in about 15 seconds. Obviously our waitress was either overwhelmed or not prepared to provide good service on that day. I wish I had taken a photo of my food. I ordered the two taco plate for $15 I got about a quarter cup of beans and possibly a 3rd to a half a cup of rice the tacos were about 3 inches long they were more like hors d'oeuvres then restaurant tacos. On a good note the air conditioning worked well and the TVs were in good location to watch the celebration. Again it was the avalanche celebration afternoon but the restaurant was not that busy. We were staying in the Sheraton Downtown Denver when we decided to order take out. It was very easy to order over the phone and our food was ready within 20-25 mins. I had only ordered an appetizer of wings and it was good. Others in my party ordered the short ribs ravioli and said it was good as well. The portion of the rice was very small... but if you've been to a Yardhouse before, you know that it can be pretty pricey for the portions you get. This was up to the regular standard of awesomeness California Roll that YH delivers. I had the Buffalo Wings which also are very good. I love their sauce, spicy and hot, but not overpowering. I also like that the wings are nor swimming in sauce - just properly tossed and coated. The wife wanted a little dessert to take back to the room so she ordered the Brownie w/ice cream. MJ offered to put the ice cream on the side so we could put it in the freezer in the refrigerator in the room to keep it cold while she waited to eat it. Next up I tried a Boulder Buffalo Golden blonde ale. This is a popular flavorful local light beer, it was fine but I do prefer the IPA's in this town. Had a sample of Breckenridge Agave Wheat, the combination wheat and citrus makes a perfect blend of flavors. I ordered the coconut shrimp as an appetizer to share, 3 large pieces and even though they were a little over cooked... they were really good.We also shared the lobster, crab and artichoke dip...yummy four cheese blend with baked pita chips. OK, it's a chain but a very good one and worth a visit. PRO TIP #1- You may have heard that they have 100 taps and that's true. If you don't like beer, DO NOT WRITE THEM OFF! ADULT LIBATIONS- This place will please everyone. Beer, wine and specialty drinks are all there. I was sampling small glasses of beer which here are called shorties. I was a happy camper. FOOD- As others have said the menu here is GINORMOUS! Pro Tip #2- Portion sizes here are tricky. Some are just normal and others are huge. If you are thinking of ordering three or more items just for yourself I would be very very careful. FOOD- I began with Deviled Eggs and was delighted. The portion size was normal with four halves. The topping was a little spicy and bursting with flavor. Next I opted for Grilled Korean BBQ Beef. It was presented on the menu like an appetizer. I was asked if I wanted brown or white rice which was a nice touch. It arrived quickly and was huge! The beef was tender and the sauce was appropriately tangy/salty and it was all around delicious. I was completely stuffed. There was no chance I could even look at a full sized entrée. This is what I mean about portion sizes! This would be an Ideal place for a bunch of folks sharing dishes. I've been wanting to check out the Yard House here in the Bay Area but never had the opportunity. Walking around 16th St Mall in Denver, looking for dinner options and came across this one. We looked at the menu posted outside and liked that there were lots of options for the picky eaters in our group. It was dark inside, despite being seated by the windows. It was also very loud inside. We shared a few appetizers that were just okay. Fried calamari and buffalo wings. My daughter ordered from the kids' menu: chicken teriyaki. Very uneventful and rather small, could have fed a toddler and nothing more. She complained the rice was hard, possibly undercooked and the chicken was cold, dry, and uneventful even with the teriyaki sauce. We were thinking that maybe it was the same chicken they use for salads that's why it was cold because they were cut into small cubes. And that was all her meal was. For $8 you would think there would be something more to it. I had the BBQ Chicken Salad and was disappointed in how spicy the dressing was. It overpowered the salad and all it's components and took away from the salad. My friend had the tomato soup and grilled cheese and was disappointed in her meal. I don't ever have high expectations for hotel restaurants and was absolutely blown away by the margarita pizza I ordered. It was absolutely delicious. I see people checking in here all the time. After having dinner at the other end of the 16th Street Mall, we wandered in this direction. A beer seemed in order and the sign on the door indicated over a hundred malted beverages could be found within. I had a couple of Fruit/Lambics, and they were cold, delicious, and wonderful. I agree with Carly that the prices might seem a bit high, but man oh man, is there a huge variety of beverages to be had here. The beer selections here are quite extensive. The menu breaks them down by type. They have the featured Chalkboard Series, Cider - Seasonals, Light - Easy, Honey - Fruit - Lambics, Wheat - Wit - Weiss, Malty - Balanced, Dark - Roasted, Bitter - Piney - Floral, Strong - Spiced - Effervescent, and Strong - Dark - Bold. It was kind of hard to choose where to start from among all these offerings. Many of these beers were familiar, but there were others I had never heard of from parts unknown. I chatted up one of the bartenders. He was friendly, helpful, and funny. Interestingly enough, despite all the varied choices, plain old Coors Light and other macro-brews are the best sellers here. I envisioned people dragging their friends to the Yard House to try some diverse brews, only to have their friends (passive aggressively) insist on a Silver Bullet. Something along the lines of "leading a horse to water, but being unable to make it drink good beer" . . . (errr, my metaphor seems to have gone astray). Don't get me wrong, I have consumed more than my fair share of Coors Light, and undoubtedly will in the future as well. But, I tend to drink it when I am at a Rockies game or it is the smokin' deal of a happy hour special. I am less likely to select it when surrounded by more hoppy goodness than one might venture to shake a stick towards. I did not try the food, but if I ever find myself in need or a "beer sponge" I probably will at some point in the future. Yard House is pretty standard no matter where you go in the country. This location in downtown Denver stays packed, so expect a 10-15 minute wait. The staff are friendly and quick to answer any and every question you have on the menu. Our waiter gave their honest opinion on a few dishes and steered our group towards tall beer, steak and sandwiches. My favorite dish on the menu by far where the brussel sprouts. Not only are they bacon free, they have a lovely grilled flavor that is excellent on day two. As far as noise level and visibility is concerned, it is VERY dark and loud inside. I don't know if YH is going for intimate or fight club. Either way, as long as you aren't afraid of the dark or claustrophobic, it should be a decent dining experience for you. read more
