Plus when delivered, the bottom of the bag was completely soaked through so when it was lifted the dish that was at the bottom fell out all over my porch. As a diner fan originally from South Jersey I know of only one diner that ranks up with the best in New Jersey. The Yankee Clipper Diner is everything a diner ought to be. Portions are enormous, and well done. I particularly like breakfasts but I've had dinner here as well and the food was excellent. The place looks like a diner should, lots of bright aluminum and chrome. The homefries are so good. Big chunks of potato lightly fried, not oily or cooked to mush. This neighborhood diner in the beautiful town of Beacon is superb, From the Gyro platter, Steak & eggs to Daily specials & corned beef hash. The food is fast, delicious & always consistent. Fresh baked goods and an endless cup of coffee you never have to ask to be filled. Waitstaff is capable & knowledgeable, Management is always present. If I haven't tooted their horn enough, Only 1 flaw....... Not open 24/7! Not their fault though, that's just local law. The food was below average. The waitress was decent. And the short, older guy behind the counter (might have been the manager) deserves to be smacked in the mouth repeatedly. This is not what the Hudson Valley is or should be about. I grew up in NYC, so I know diners as good as anyone. If you're in the area and hungry, eat here. Other than that, don't drive a mile out of your way. And, can someone throw the short, old guy in a headlock and send me a picture? I live by many Diners. The Yankee clipper is the closest diner I live by. I have to say I have never been disappointed in the food I have ordered. Of course I never order things I know I can get better at other places. I love this place because the food is decent, the service is always great and I love that it's literally two minutes drive from my house. In particular I love their breakfast foods. read more

I adore this place! I have brought family and friends here. The food is so fresh and delicious. I love the veggie burger with sweet potatoes fries. It's so tasty you don't realize you are eating a veg burger. The California turkey burger is amazing! Most turkey burgers taste terrible but not this one. My newest favorite is the Greek salad with skirt steak cooked to perfection with the house Greek dressing. To die for! And a special shout out to the wonderful staff!!! I am a regular here so I don't want to blast them for one bad experience. I am just hoping the owner reads this. They had a special of potato pancakes, bacon and 2 eggs for $8.25. The potato pancakes were hard as a rock and were an over fried thing dripping in grease. They looked deep fried. We told them to take back the pancakes and we would keep the eggs and bacon. They took $1.30 off the bill. If I gave this to regulars that pointed out how bad they were I would have taken more than that off-but I guess the eggs, bacon, toast (no home fries) portion was worth $6.95?? the hostess said "oh, we don't deduct for home fries. The whole experience was very disappointing. I would have given us the eggs and bacon for free to make it right for us. read more

I've lived in Beacon my whole life and the diner is probably my favorite place to eat. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. It has great prices compared to surrounding diners. When in doubt, I go to Yankee Clipper. There are some places in Beacon that you just can't beat and Yankee Clipper is one of them. read more

My husband and I are regulars here. We are treated like family. We are on a first-name basis with some of the staff. This restaurant is very clean and casual. Excellent service, no matter which waiter/waitress we get. The food is delicious. I can't think of anything I have eaten there that wasn't yummy. One of my friends (I have been there with many) complains about the prices. I think the prices are accurate for the amount of food served. I like leftovers. There are always plenty here. I had an omelette which was out of this world. I often think diners are overpriced and not quality. Not the case here-it was delicious. Awesome Diner Recommendation from Jake & Chris at our hotel. We went twice during our time in Beacon. Once for Breakfast & Once for Lunch. Scarlett served us both times and was friendly, she told us she was new, we would have never guessed. The eggs & potatoes were cooked perfect and the french toast was deeeeelish. For lunch I had an eggplant panini with hot fries and slaw. My wife had the Chicken Salad on a bed of lettuce with veggies and a scoop of slaw and potato salad. We also split a delicious rice pudding. We don't really have Diner's in Georgia so this was a treat. read more

To whom it may concern: This afternoon as I do often I ordered a side of tuna fish from your establishment. Side of tuna, no lettuce; add salt, pepper, diced onions and celery. Upon placing the order, the woman who I later found out to be the "owners wife" said that the tuna already has celery in it and that she would have them add the onions. I waited the 10mins suggested and then went across the street to pick up the order from the diner as I work directly across the street. When I received my food I paid for it and went back to my office. Upon opening the container I realized that I had received salt and pepper packets and there was not any visible celery in the tuna. As this is the only thing I always order from the diner I figured it must be a mistake I'll just take it back and have them add the celery. I get to the counter to tell the woman (the owners wife) that when I called and asked for celery that I was told celery was in it and I do not see any celery in my tuna. She says there is celery in there. I said there isn't. I reached for my bag with the tuna to show her that there was not any celery in there. She snatches the bag and says, "I know how we make our tuna. There is celery in there." She licks her fingers from the food she was eating and proceeds to take the bag back to the kitchen. At this point I told her to forget it because I don't know why she's giving me attitude when she's the one who made the error. After all this and me asking for my money back she then says, "Well my husband said you probably wanted extra celery and he was even going to come over and give you the celery. I'm just trying to explain myself." I reply, "Yes after giving me attitude which was unnecessary as you made the error." I leave the diner with my refunded money to go and spend it at a more inviting establishment in Beacon. It is sad when establishments have people at the front who are unfriendly and uninviting and think it's okay because they are "family." The way I was spoken to and dealt with was uncalled for and unprofessional. Unfortunately although it is convenient and the food is good, I will not return to Yankee Clipper after my experience today. I did call and try and speak to the owner/boss and was told by his wife, the same woman I had the issue with that he had "stepped out" the building. Thank you for your time and patience. Yankee Clipper is a great place to get breakfast in Beacon. The staff are very friendly, the service is great, and the food is delicious. They menu consists of standard diner fare but is consistently made well. I definitely recommend Yankee Clipper. read more

Our group had some specific questions about the menu and our waitress sent over the owner to answer them. She was extremely helpful and allowed my friends to order exactly what they wanted (one has gluten intolerance). The food is cooked to order, so it did take a little long but was so good! Absolutely disgusting. My mother took my wife and I out for her birthday dinner and had a pretty good meal. Our bill came to 57 dollars and some change. My mom paid on a debit card- her original meal receipt had the correct total, but on her debit card receipt (printed in extremely small and very faded lettering- maybe you need to clean the contacts in the receipt tape, by the by), she was charged an extra five hundred dollars (a total of 557 dollars and change). Having not brought her glasses (and trusting that the credit card receipt would be identical to the food receipt), my mom signed it. Since she had left a tip on the table, she wrote in the total of 57 and change on the receipt. When this was discovered less than 12 hours later, my mother called the owner Tonya (not sure/don't care about spelling, she also called herself Tony) and informed her of what happened. Tonya was incredibly rude and dismissive because it was a busy Friday night, but if she "got around to it" she'd fix it at 11:30 when the restaurant was closed, but said she'd cover the overdraft fees that the bank threw on there as a gesture of goodwill. My mother called again on Saturday, and Tonya informed mom that she spoke to her credit agency and since it was an "innocent" mistake, she would only refund the 500 dollars she had originally overcharged, and mom should be "happy with that." When my mom called the day after to make sure Tonya actually put through the credit, Tonya was even nastier, saying that since my mom signed the (obviously fraudulent) receipt, Tonya could dispute it and it would take 90 days to get her money back, and Tonya could just add a bunch of drinks to a tab and then it would have to go to court (sick!) When my mother began crying (because nobody has a spare 500 dollars), Tonya told her that "your financial problems aren't my concern, just take the money from your savings until the money comes back, don't you know that American banks take time to do refunds?" She also took back her offer to pay the overdraft fees my mother's bank charged her, and said that the 500 dollars was more than what she was required to do according to her credit agency. I went in to the store to get my mother's receipt (for the 500 dollars she was refunded), and Tonya was all smiles (maybe because I am not a senior citizen she can bully and intimidate over the phone, or maybe because my wife and I are regulars known for 20 dollar tips on 20 dollar meals) and apologetic, offering me a gift card if she wouldn't lose my business. Unfortunately for Tonya and the Yankee Clipper, my mother has an app recording her phone calls, so I could hear how nasty Tonya can be when she's talking to a senior citizen who she doesn't think will fight back. Side note- anyone want a gift card to a mediocre diner that sometimes steals from customers? Odds are pretty good I'm never going back in there, and neither will any of my family or anyone I care about. The money did eventually make it back to her account, and after telling Ms Tonya about my mom's recordings she -did- offer to pay one of the overdraft fees- not in time for the birthday weekend we had planned, but before my mom got hit with too many more overdraft fees, so I guess that's okay. Place used to be pretty good - now it's gone downhill, IMO. Our server, Nancy, was excellent, but I ordered a burger medium rare, and it came very well done. It was tasty though, so I didn't send it back, but the cook clearly overcooked it. My partner's chicken noodle soup was so salty it was almost inedible. As was her salmon dish, which appeared to have olives and capers just poured on top of it to call it a "special". Again, so salty she couldn't eat it. Side of broccoli was wilted and limp from just lying in some water for awhile. And no bread came to our table after we saw other servers bringing it to other tables ? We noticed at the end, but really ? Definitely won't be back - too many deficiencies for a decent meal or a worthy review. read more

Friendly and warm atmosphere. I ate here twice while visiting a friend. On both visits I arrived with high expectations; however, I left dissatisfied on both occasions. I ordered typical diner fare on both visits, a hamburger and fries and an omelette. The burger was dry, which is probably why I'm leaving this comment. It was my second time coming here and I really wanted to like this local gem. Yet the burger was dry and we were never asked if we needed more water or napkins. We were actually just here recently for an anniversary brunch/my mother's weird need to eat somewhere that Paul Newman had eaten (local legend says he was a regular) - and we were pretty impressed. DH had eggs over easy and bacon, I had a BEC on a roll (my guilty pleasure) Mom had an omelet and Dad had french toast. Got a rootbeer float. Amazing. Ordered the French dip. Came on the wrong bread and was closed faced I think and prefer it should always be open faced. The Au gus was just beef base and water. The sandwich was a great portion though for price! As a chef I could tell and I'm very picky. 6/10 read more
