Came here for brunch to celebrate my aunt's 70th birthday, and it was our first time visiting. The space itself is really cute--on the smaller side, but cozy. We had a party of 10, and thankfully they were able to accommodate us in the very back of the restaurant, which ended up being a great spot for our group. Service was a bit on the slower side, and we would have appreciated a few more check-ins throughout the meal. Nothing terrible, but noticeable--especially with a larger group. If you're gluten-free, just know the options are somewhat limited. That said, I was able to customize the breakfast burrito into a bowl to skip the tortilla, which worked out well and was still satisfying. The table shared the pancakes with cinnamon butter, which were a big hit. The breakfast burrito was also really popular, and a few people ordered the quiche special, which got great feedback as well. One downside is the bathroom situation--there's only one unisex restroom for the entire restaurant, so there was pretty much a line the whole time. Parking is metered street parking with a 4-hour limit, which is manageable but something to keep in mind if you're planning a longer visit. On the plus side, being seated in the back made it quiet enough for us to actually enjoy conversation, which isn't always the case at brunch spots. While the pricing felt a bit high for the overall value, the food and atmosphere made it a worthwhile experience. It's a bit of a drive for me, so not somewhere I'd visit regularly, but it's located in a really cute town with plenty of shops to explore--nice if you want to make a day out of it. One star removed for management, sadly. They understaffed on a super busy brunch and the poor servers were sweating. The staff here is SO friendly and hardworking. Our server Cassie was an absolute star! She was essentially the server, bartender, host, and runner! We had the espresso martinis and they were to die for! We had to have another round. Very creamy and delicious. I had the brunch omelette and it was great, but I had a bite of my friends biscuits and gravy and will definitely be getting that next time! So good!! One of the very best breakfasts of my life! OK, I've got your attention. I hope so because this place was so good, we actually went back two days in a row. Yesterday I had a very nice quiche with ample ham, enoki mushrooms, mozzarella, and kale. I really enjoyed the crust. It was a full quarter piece which felt generous. It was classically paired with a salad with a light and creamy vinaigrette. My wife adored her omelette and especially the coffee. In fact, she insisted we go back just for the coffee! But today's meal was really unexpected. I got the traditional gravlax on a bagel with all the trimmings. The salmon was so fresh and translucent, it was almost like sushi. So plentiful it was downright generous. All of the toppings were also generous and in perfect proportions. A huge slathering of cream cheese, slivers of red onion, a wonderfully healthy amount of capers, and two ripe tomato slices. All of this on one killer everything bagel. It was fresh, moist, and perfectly chewy. One of the things I don't like when ordering lox and bagels from other restaurants is how they serve it deconstructed, making the isolated ingredients a do-it-youself project. Here it was all assembled so I could just dive into it. It had all of the sensual fun of eating a Shake Shack burger, but with all of the deli flair you could wish for. The thing that put all of this over the top were the two beautifully poached eggs that were served in a small ramekin. So tenderly shaped into perfect spheres, and expertly cooked in way that kept them firm yet still runny. Some kitchens are sloppy with poached eggs because they end up under some hollandaise on a Benedict. These were little jewels. Now to all of the people who complain about the service. I believe that they may truly have had a weak experience, but that was not our experience both days (Saturday and Sunday). The place was hopping and there were enough servers taking care of everyone. Part of the secret was that they were generally tending to everyone and not sequestered to their own tables. We always had our glasses filled, and we felt attended to, including nice conversations about the food and the restaurant. Everyone looked like they enjoyed and were proud to be working there. Perhaps all of the prior negative reviews have helped management work on what's needed. But I can say as a true foodie who travels the world and this great land of ours, this place is a real gem. Trust that the management, staff and kitchen are really striving to improve and be exceptional. You can tell if a restaurant is someone's dream and vision or if it's someone's "nice idea". Good local cafe. Food was delicious and fresh. Loved the garden hash. Friend's cheeseburger looked amazing (and he confirmed it was). Service by the waitstaff was great. They were able to accommodate our large group with kids last minute. The restaurant is on the small side, so be warned if coming with strollers. There is only one restroom and the line for it got long. No skim milk so skipped getting a latte. If the owners read this - get a sign that tells people to wait to be seated at the door. We along with many other groups after us walked in and went to the bar for assistance and were coldly redirected to stand at the door. Not the best way to welcome people, and it is not clear. Very slow service, which is surprising given the number of wait staff they had and that the restaurant wasn't even crowded. They had a number of younger workers, probably because of the summer season, but they were all a lot more efficient and diligent than the older lady, who seemed to be doing as little as she could and moving at a glacial speed. We were seated immediately, but it took maybe 10-15 minutes to even get glasses of water let alone our order taken. The wait staff were tending other tables, and when we made eye contact with the older lady saying we were ready to order, she said to give her a minute as she took her time to check on a table outside. Another wait staff eventually was able to give us water and take our order. The food also came out slowly. We ordered a hummus platter, the fruit bowl side, and the eggs and hash. The eggs and hash was not bad -- the hash was a bit on the oily side. The hummus platter was just alright -- the pita bread was dry and stale. The lady was nice, but didn't seem to have proper customer service / restaurant etiquette. She just wasn't attentive, didn't have a good second nature for tending customers, and when we were heading out the door after our meal she kind of motioned to give her the right of way as she was coming in, which is a small thing but it surprised us because we thought usually the workers would give their customers right of way. Overall, the food was just average, but given the pace of this place, I wouldn't return here. The younger workers really were apt though, and they were great with refilling our water when they saw it was empty. The Rose Fried Chicken Sandwich, spectacular give me 14 of them. The chicken was so well seasoned, you taste it in every bite. The sandwich has a bacon & tomato jam that is so delish you don't want the sandwich to finish. Served with long wedge fries, perfect lunch dish. Service was good just a bit hot in the restaurant. Came after a hike in the cold spring area. Cute little cafe like environment with simple but charming decor. There's only one bathroom (it was clean though) but there was always a line. Got the storm king sandwich. House grilled turkey really set this apart from a normal sandwich. I'm glad it came with sweet potato chips. Coffee was unlimited refills. We were very nervous about eating here this past Sunday after reading the reviews, but it seemed like the only place on the main strip that morning that didn't have a 30+ minute wait and we were starving, so we put our names on the waitlist and crossed our fingers. The host was pleasant and sent us a text when our table was ready. We ordered the burrito and burger and both were very, very good. No complaints on the food! Yes service was a little slow, but I'm pretty sure it was on the kitchen's end. We didn't get a check in from our server until our plates were nearly cleaned and we had 10% of our food left, but we still thoroughly enjoyed our meal! TL:DR - decent food, sloooooow service. Doesn't seem like they know what they're doing. We saw a few groups milling about outside so we stood with them to hopefully get our name on a waiting list. But those groups were all already summoned via text that their tables were ready. The woman brought four different parties in before even acknowledging us; didn't make eye contact once. After a good 15 minutes or so, we finally got on a waiting list for a table. The only positive was that we got the text that our table was ready a few minutes before the estimated time she gave us. The inside of the place looks nice. There are two dining areas, not cramped. We were seated in the back right corner, though. There's a wall AC unit literally right by my head when I sat down. Made me worried in the summer. Now to the main complaint; the service. It looked like the waiters don't have set areas. So we sat and waited another 10 minutes before someone asked us for anything to drink. A few minutes later, a different server asked if anyone had taken our order. She seemed apologetic when we told her no, and gave us a complimentary croissant. It was pretty decent. After another long wait, we finally got our food. My wife got the burger and it was ok. The French fries were good, though the portion was pretty small. It's thick cut fries, nicely seasoned. I got the Asian salad with shrimp. The shrimp were good, but the salad itself has purple cabbage as the main part. It wasn't cut thin enough to make it easy to eat. The dressing was good. But as we were eating, a few fruit flies showed up. And stayed with us basically the entire time we were eating, despite our best efforts to kill them. Closing our bill also took a long time. Total time there was more than an hour. For two people just trying to get lunch. We had been looking for a good substitute for our favorite restaurant in the area (RIP Hudson Hil's). But it looks like this is the only place, so though it'll probably keep getting good business, it's nowhere near the excellent Hudson Hil's quality and service. read more

I've been here several times now and it's just okay. Service is consistently poor - takes quite a while to get anyone's attention for small things like forks, napkins, to-go box. Most recently, it took 1 hour for food to come out and another 30 mins for them to settle our bill. It took us 20 mins to eat as we had plans, so we spent most of the time twiddling our thumbs and waiting for service. Pancakes are good - shareable size. Headed to Cold Spring for breakfast but found that the place we used to love was no longer in business. Chose to try out Foundry Rose. Really disappointed. Food was very average & service was terrible. For $65 for a 2 person breakfast I expected at least one check back from the waiter & automatic coffee refills, especially when there were only a few tables & adequate staff. I counted over 7 people working the front for maybe 15 total tables? Why did it take 10 minutes just to get a menu. And then 50 more for food. Were they prepping one meal at a time? I was a little hesitant to order here due to the low reviews but surprisingly, we had great service. 4 adults, 1 kid. Reservations were kept and saved accordingly. The waitress did her best to take everyone's order especially with patience due to someone having a gluten allergy. I personally ordered the breakfast burrito without eggs, and it was still incredibly delicious. I enjoyed the home fries as well. Perfect spot to have brunch at after a hike. Thank you! The space is also incredibly cozy and cute. We loved how it looked. 4 stars because the fried burger on the next table didnt look too great once she bit into it!!! First time ever leaving a review (positive or negative). Rude and unprofessional service, rushed out the door (on Mothers Day) non the less. Food was comically bad with tiny portions. They were blatantly in front of customers refilling name brand condiments (ketchup, hot sauces, etc.) with cheap generic bulk size product. If it was just a normal lunch probably wouldn't let it bother me, but dropping $400 on a bad meal with bad attitudes on Mothers Day, I felt compelled to put this out there. They ruin my breakfast. If you don't cook with love, then don't cook. My lox Bagel was so salty. The garden breakfast or however they call it was only one ugly egg and potatoes. The more I thought about my experience from this week, the more it confuses me. The food was good and so was my drink. I did notice service was on the slow side, but I wasn't bothered. What I was bothered by was the waitress approaching me while I was on line for the bathroom and asked me if I had Apple Pay so I could pay my bill right then. I was so caught off guard that I just did it, but in hindsight I wish I had the opportunity to actually be fully paying attention and relaxed when paying the bill. Want to patronize and like this place but lately they have disappointed. Haven't gone for a while but went for breakfast at 9:00 this morning and first of all the menu was a limited Brunch menu and not the usual full breakfast menu. I asked the server if I could get the breakfast burrito that us on the usual menu. I could which was a plus. But there was only 1 other table in the restaurant and it took 45 minutes to an hour to get our food. My partner ordered the pancakes. They were under cooked and doughy. I've been to this place a handful of times over the years, and I have wonderful memories of the food and atmosphere. Apparently there have been some changes and not for the better. Gone is the quaint little diner with the gingham table cloths, it's been replaced by another soulless eatery focusing on style over substance. The menu is decent, but Sunday brunch found a few of the more popular items sold out. I had the rice bowl and it left a lot to be desired. It was too salty, and rice should not be served al dente. Some of the rice was crunchy. The french fries were far too oily and unpleasant. The bacon was rubbery, but to be fair, it wasn't requested to make it crispy. The egg albumin at the yolk was runny and not set. Basically, the food was rushed and poorly prepared. It was unpleasant, which is crazy because the place was almost empty. At least I didn't find a bug in my overpriced drink like the couple in the back. The staff was fine, and I'm not gonna criticize anyone specifically, but a dress code might be considered. I feel bad because this was an awesome place to get good food and a cup of coffee, and I didn't mind waiting for a table.
