Stopped by this fantastic pub after a strenuous hike in the area and got some great refueling grub and beverages. Plenty of space both inside and out. We really loved the pretzel bites and would definitely get those again, the nachos however were abundant but the chips were a little stale and added chicken was dry. Still enjoyed them, but may try something else next time. Great draft and can/bottle list - also fairly priced too.

passed by this place for years and finally went. what a cute cozy old school pub. old tin ceiling with a lot of character. started with buffalo wings. crispy saucy big wings cooked perfectly. we both had burgers. came out fast fresh and steaming hot. mine was little over but still juicy. french fries so crispy and hot. have to say it was a great experience. everyone so nice and professional and prices are great. will definitely come back. they have live music too.

After a long hike we hit J Murphy's for lunch, the food was fantastic. The wings and crispy brussel sprouts were excellent, and the smash burgers hit the spot. It was very busy, fall is definitely their peak season, but the staff was great. Our server Beth was so sweet! Overall a great chill place to grab a bite.

J Murphys on Main is in the town of Cold Spring, which is such a cute spot to walk around before or after a meal. The restaurant has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and the hostess that greeted us was very nice. We sat outside with our dog, which was nice since they are dog friendly. The food was okay overall, although nothing stood out. I appreciated that they have gluten-free options. The main downside was how long everything took, from ordering to getting our food to paying the bill. It was busy, so maybe service moves a bit faster inside or on weekdays, but it definitely took more time than expected.

The waiter was attentive and friendly. The food was decent but not amazing. It was nice to sit on the sidewalk under an awning and enjoy the weather.

After my YELP Event,I found a few great reviews about this place and the short rib grilled cheese caught my eye and I had to try it,so off we go. When we arrived the outside was packed with patrons, I thought oh boy a long wait however the hostess stated that the people were waiting to be seated outside and said she could seat us right away inside... Great ambiance and this place must have it going on because there were so many in here I realized I found a gold mine. Our server Chrissy was great and later on gave me some history of this restaurant. It was originally a hospital during the civil war and later on a hotel. Very interesting. Back to the food that short rib grilled cheese with sautéed spinach on it was everything I had hoped for hearty and flavorful it's served with shoestring fries. DELICIOUS and my wife and daughter had a Bellini they said it was delicious, I had the mimosa which was also very good. I will definitely be making J Murphy's one of my go to place in Cold springs.

The baby back ribs were exactly what I wanted after a day of hiking, and I devoured them expressly. My date's choice of ribeye steak left much to be desired, but we both liked the shoestring fries, and I gave him some of my ribs, and he agreed they were very good. We enjoyed sitting outside in the sunny weather, and the waiters were friendly and helpful.

Friendly bartender, good food and easy walkable location right on Main Street! Nice vegetarian and seafood options..... fantastic salmon, loved the veggie wings. Can't wait til our next visit

Food quality / price (value) rating 8.5. The atmosphere is common pub. We sat at their large bar (about 18 stools) and received very good service. I had a Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich with garlic truffle fries. The wife had the Avocado Toast. The dishes were presented nicely and prepared well. Both meals were good sized portions and not your typical offerings. The truffle fries were very good. They offer ten draught beers and interesting cocktail specials. I had a Raspberry Mule that wasn't real flavorful, but was good I also had the only IPA draught they offer. They have live entertainment on weekends. The menu is pub food with some unusual twists., and they also serve brunch.

J Murphys looks like a pub and you may question if it will be a good experience or not... but ... It is. Everything we ordered tasted really good-- the burgers and the regular and sweet potato fries were fried with the perfect crunch. The tuna nicoise was cooked and presented beautifully. The service was great. Our server was attentive, prepared, and warm. The ambiance at J Murphys is relaxed and chill. This is a place I would visit again.

The food here was amazing and well presented. The atmosphere was calm, chill and welcoming in an early afternoon on a holiday. The area was so clean. I didn't even think it was a bar. The lighting was a little dim, but typical for I would think. Parking was a beautiful problem. It's street parking. No parking lot and it's a strip of the main street which is super beautiful and nice to walk. Pricing wasn't that bad at all and drink menu was two or three pages.

I ordered the short rib -- the bread was perfectly toasted, crispy but not hard; the beef was tender and delicious; and the soft, warm spinach balanced the texture really well. Plus the cheese added such a great flavor. It turned out way better than I expected! The fries were a bit too hard though.

Came to Cold Spring for the day for a walk and antique shopping. The husband and I decided to stop at J Murphys on Main after reading that they had gf options available. We came early-ish (11:30am) and it was relatively quiet. The waitress was attentive and sat us at a comfy table with lunch/brunch menus and informing us of the soup special for the day. The decor inside is cute and the space made for a perfect day date setting. My husband and I both ordered the local cider on draft (Down East). The cider was crisp and easy to go down, perfect to pair with a meal! I ordered an impossible burger with goat cheese on a gluten free bun. My husband ordered the short ribbed grilled cheese. My husband doesn't really enjoy going out to eat, but I quote, "I very rarely eat rib, it's like a better version of a steak sandwich. This is one of the better things I've eaten recently". I was surprised when he asked if we can come back and add J Murphys into a date night rotation. Needless to say, we will be coming back!

After eating there, I can confidently say Doug, your pub makes pretty good food. Our party of four was seated at a high-top, and the feasting began. They've got a great beer selection and took care of us right away. Food-wise, we started with the chicken wings, which were huge and packed with flavor. For me, the main event was the original patty melt. You know when something tastes homemade, but in the absolute best way possible? That was this burger. It was hot, juicy, and dripping with flavor, with perfectly caramelized onions and melted cheese. What really made it work was the bread, it still had a crunch instead of turning soggy. Every dip into the Thousand Island just made it better. The onion rings were a perfect sidekick. Around the table, my brother-in-law went with the Nutty Hog and enjoyed it, my sister liked her quesadilla, and my wife was happy with her chicken. No complaints anywhere. You know how I feel about local spots, and this place was full of charm and character. The drinks were cold, the food was solid, and I'll absolutely be back. 5/5 stars

Hubby had the burger - sans bun (gf) he called it "good and tasty." I can vouch for the excellent crispy hot fries. I had a special risotto - with savory veggies, crunchy crispy onions, cooked al dente - perfect. * We shared the cheesecake which could be delivered gluten free simply omitting the gram cracker sprinkle - creamy cheesy deliciousness. * Our first time hearing the Jack Grace a gentle blend of country, rock, and bossa nova made us fans. Apple Music does not represent what we heard. LIve was better. We will be back and recommend the food and the music! But when I want to have an elevated experience with a nod to fine dining, this is my go-to. I always bring friends from out of town here and everyone is impressed. The bartenders make the best martinis and Manhattans you'll find, along with a seasonal cocktail menu that features something for everyone, including mocktails. When I don't want a full dining experience but the hubs and I have a babysitter, we like to sit at the bar for martinis and oysters - SO FRESH! If you don't do oysters, anything on the appetizers list is a wonderful light bite. I don't know what kind of magic the chef uses to make the salads but they are always simple, yet stunning. For dinner, the steak is hard to pass up if you eat red meat. I usually get the single serving NY strip, which is incredible. You can't go wrong. I'm excited to try the porterhouse for 2. My mollusk loving friend raved about the mussels and the fish selection is fantastic. I'm not a big dessert person, but splitting any of the desserts is a treat. Alternatively, the digestif selection doesn't disappoint. The bartenders and bar manager, Nick, are helpful in guiding your taste buds to the right choice. Bud, the owner, whose previous establishments can be read about in some respectfully placed articles around the restaurant, is always accommodating for the busiest place in town. It's nearly impossible to get a seat on Friday and Saturday nights from 6-9, but he will be honest and create a space at one of the little side bar areas if he can. The ambiance is sexy and sophisticated with a touch of whimsy. The toilet paper holder in the restroom always makes me smile (IYKYK). Having been to this restaurant many times, you'll start to see familiar faces as there is now a strong regular crowd. The community and connections that I've found while at Lyonshare have enhanced my experience of living in Beacon. Oh, last thing - brunch is a can't miss, must do culinary event.

We had an overall, great experience from start to finish. Takeaways: Dinner: 8.6/10 - subjective Debra (bartender): 10/10 (god dam she makes a drink - and you WANT to be around her). Night cap espresso martinis in the room were amazing! Breakfast (8:30-10:00am): 9/10 (could not believe how good that was for 'complimentary breakfast' which makes people nervous ) The Room: 7.8/10 - older but clean. This is an inn!! Quaint quiet clean - the bedroom TV didn't work - disappointing before bed, but not the reason we're here. Also, maid forgot hand soap for the room. Sometimes a venue makes the experience special and sometimes the service makes the venue special. They are why we will return. We had a party of 10, and thankfully they were able to accommodate us in the very back of the restaurant, which ended up being a great spot for our group. Service was a bit on the slower side, and we would have appreciated a few more check-ins throughout the meal. Nothing terrible, but noticeable--especially with a larger group. If you're gluten-free, just know the options are somewhat limited. That said, I was able to customize the breakfast burrito into a bowl to skip the tortilla, which worked out well and was still satisfying. The table shared the pancakes with cinnamon butter, which were a big hit. The breakfast burrito was also really popular, and a few people ordered the quiche special, which got great feedback as well. One downside is the bathroom situation--there's only one unisex restroom for the entire restaurant, so there was pretty much a line the whole time. Parking is metered street parking with a 4-hour limit, which is manageable but something to keep in mind if you're planning a longer visit. On the plus side, being seated in the back made it quiet enough for us to actually enjoy conversation, which isn't always the case at brunch spots. While the pricing felt a bit high for the overall value, the food and atmosphere made it a worthwhile experience. It's a bit of a drive for me, so not somewhere I'd visit regularly, but it's located in a really cute town with plenty of shops to explore--nice if you want to make a day out of it. Overall, a charming spot with good food and a cozy vibe. I'd come back, just hoping for a bit more attentive service next time.
