Prices are 2x marked up. I had a really bad experience: We got served "store bought" pita instead of fresh/made-to-order pita. It was DEVASTATING when I got home and saw that. (It looked, tasted and smelled like store bought pita. I know this as I'm middle-eastern and I buy those pitas. They cost 30 cents each.) My friend who has been here earlier said "there's a lady cooking fresh pita" AND it looks completely different on his photo. That lady wasn't there so I has a very different experience. I still can't believe I put 30$ order just to get grocery-store pita and a few grams of ground lamb. It was ready made, and if you look at their website you'll see completely different fresh pita pictures. Long story short: ASK if what you're paying is Saj Bread or store-bought pita. So excited to have authentic Middle Eastern food in the heart of Seattle! I ordered Foul Madames a very well known Egyptian dish, Shamandar bi laban and the hot pepper Saj wrap and I added cheese (they recommended this). The hot pepper wrap is bomb, nice and spicy. Not sure how to describe bread, it's chewy and thin flour tortilla ish thickness but totally different! The Foul Madames is stewed favs and garbanzo beans. If you like beans you'll love it. It's savory and nice and flavorful. The Shamandar bi Laban is a mix of beets with labneh and i also taste tahini. It's garnished with parsley and pomegranate seeds. So bright (physical and flavor wise). Can't wait to come back and try the Muhammara (red peppers and walnuts) and the Raheb (eggplant) salads as well as the other wraps! read more

Note that grubhub/Postmates/uber eats reported hours are unreliable We had the Lahme Khuruf and the Batinjan (with added sumac braised chicken) saj wraps, and oh my gosh they were so good!! The eggplants in the Batinjan wrap were so well cooked and we loved it with the added chicken! The lamb in the Lahme Khuruf wrap was also really tasty. Also, the wraps were both generous portions (maybe a foot long!!). Each wrap also had greens and tomato in it, which went well with the other fillings :) over all, 10/10 would recommend and worth going in person even when the delivery apps might say it's closed! read more

This is a walk-up storefront shop with truly exquisite to-go wraps and specials. The saj bread is amazing, much thinner than a pita with a lovely, slightly chewy texture. The tried the fried eggplant special. It was so good that I found myself literally licking the container when I was done! I can't help but compare this to Mamnoon, a Mediterranean restaurant a few blocks away with both expensive sit-down service and a walk-up take-out window. While the food is not totally authentic, this is a great fusion restaurant with respectable representation of some Lebanese street food classics. I have tried This place couple times, ordering online is very convenient, also ordering at the window is surprisingly fast as well. Most of the wraps ( cheese and zaatar ) have vegetables in them , fresh tasting as well. Food is hot and freshly made . Service is professional and prompt . Over few visits, we have tried zaatar wrap, cheese wrap , lamb wrap and falafel. I would say zaatar is the most authentic, however you can't go wrong with any of these options. read more

I ordered the Soujouk Saj ($10.50), which is spicy sausage. This was my first time trying a food item like this and I was very impressed. The bread wasn't overcooked and was flaky while still being strong enough to hold the filling. The inside was just mostly sausage as far as I could tell. The spices used were perfect and it wasn't too spicy. The meat was very tasty. Overall, it was a great experience. Only cons are maybe it was a little pricey for the size of the wrap. Also, it did get a little repetitive with only meat filling and it started feeling a bit dry to chew. I would still recommend people to try this place, as it is a very unique food item I feel most have not experienced before! read more

One of the best takeout place in the Caphill area! I came here with my friend to order the lamb and beef wrap. I have to say this is the best place to get a bang for your buck, the insides are juicy, meat was tender, and the wrap was crispy if you eat them right away. We ordered the pickled eggplant appetizer/side dish and it was pleasantly yummy to curb your hunger. I would come here again - I was really full even after eating 75% of my wrap! My wife and I have been splitting sandwiches here for a month now and our waistlines are hurting..and we can't stop. Everything tastes magical and it is so fresh. The sandwiches are dynomite and grilled to perfection. I've had kafte before and man it's never been this good. Don't eat meat? They've got you covered. There are some vegetarian options that are dynomite. The hummus and babaghanoush are top notch but there's even vegetarian entrees as well and they will all rock your socks off. Best of all, it's take out only. Covid 19 can't hurt it because it was made to survive. Do yourself a favor. Order the babaghanoush, pick a sandwich at random, and be sure to get some dessert too. If you are looking for rice bowl or shawarma look else where but if you are looking for the best arabic food with a mediterranean influence then you have found a gem of a spot!! Went there on a Friday night and ordered the Lahme Khuruf and Kefta! We loved the lahme khuruf havent had anything this delicious - perfect balance of sices with amazing cooked juicy meat woth the yoghurt sauce that just takes this to another level.. the kefta was also nice but nothing beats the Lahme Khuruf.. I wish I had asked for some hot sauce I am sure the flavors would have elevated with a lil hot sauce just a lil.. the owner was kind and polite.. unfortunately they do not have apple pay so make sure you have cash or card on you.. right next to Revolution Bar this plAce can get busy but is totally worth it! read more

Been here twice and Yalla doesn't disappoint. The falafel is great, and the combination of crunchy fried chickpea goodness along with tangy sauce, chewy bread, fresh mint, and tart pickles is excellent. I tried the saj rap with cheese and black sesame seeds and it was great too, but I've always been a falafel fan. I'm not usually a dessert person but don't skip the sweets at yalla. The atayef I ordered a few weeks ago were fantastic-fried semolina filled with cheese or walnuts soaked in syrup. Not sure if that's just a Ramadan offering. The semolina cookies are great too. Just having walked by Yalla a few times in the past since they opened, I got the vibe (and aromas) that it was a super authentic place with good sense of the neighborhood - which means having enough of a "hip" aesthetic to survive and thrive in Cap Hill. This place definitely lived up to my expectations of it! Due to Covid, we pulled up on our way home to see if they were open, knowing they were a takeaway window-service place. Two groups had ordered ahead of me, and were waiting for their food at a safe distance, so I was able to order right away. The man working was friendly and helped me decide what to order as a first timer between the things I was considering; with his help, I landed on getting the falafel wrap with a side of tahini. He had gloves on and hand sanitizer for patrons to use before/after using the iPad to pay. Now the most important part, the food...the falafel wrap was all wrapped up and hot in my hands in no time at all (maybe waited 5-8 minutes?) and when I finally got home to eat it, it was still warm. My husband, who wasn't going to get anything and just eat at home, saw how good it looked (and smelled) and immediately wanted some, so we ended up splitting it; half of it was enough for a filling lunch portion for each of us. Honestly, it was probably the best falafel wrap I've ever had. We could tell everything was homemade, from the saj bread (somewhere between a pita and a tortilla) to the pickled veggies, to the sauces. I can't wait to go back and try more, the other items on the menu I was less familiar with and am now curious what they're like since the falafel wrap was so so good! We inhaled it before I thought to get a photo...next time! I am so happy that this one-of-a-kind, delicious spot opened up in the neighborhood and not another chain restaurant. read more

This place is delicious and charming. Sometimes I walk by during the day and someone's mom is making the saj bread, and that's pretty special. The eggplant wrap is unreal. Some people will tell you the falafel is the way to go, but I'm telling you get the eggplant. My boyfriend like the falafel too, but don't listen to him. We decided to come here after seeing the great reviews, but were underwhelmed after eating the food. We got the zataar and fityr wraps, along with the muhummara dip and a side of falafels. The falafels seemed raw on the inside and had a raw taste, although the cooked portion tasted good. I could not taste the mushroom mixture in the fityr wrap at all...so all I tasted was the bread and the raw vegetables inside the wrap, which was extremely disappointing since it was $9. The zataar wrap to me was inedible because the zataar was SO sour. I've tasted zataar given to me by my Lebanese friend and it was extremely good, just the right amount of sourness. Finally, the muhummara dip was okay but again it was so sour that after two bites all I tasted was lemon. These are just my opinions based on my own taste, so if you are also sensitive to sour flavors, beware. I guess we'd have to try the other wraps, but after our first experience we are not inclined to go back. read more

Visited with an Israeli friend, and we both have been cooking and eating Arab food for decades. Unfortunately, nothing we ordered was even close to OK, and all went to the trash after a few bites. The "kafta" was almost flavorless, and the batinjan was down-right unpleasant, almost inedible. Mamnoon, Goodies, and all the other places are either low quality or white-washed remakes and not traditional or authentic in the slightest. Yalla tastes amazing because it sticks to the true roots, flavors, and ingredients that make it so delicious. Chef Taylor has honed her skills all over the Middle East and I can happily vouch for how awesome her Lebanese cooking skills are! Saj sandwiches are made to be eaten on-the-go with one hand, an entire meal in your hand. They are designed to be pop-up windows all around Middle Eastern cities; Yalla sticks to that same design language.
