DO NOT GO HERE. PERIOD. My husband called "Woodworker Source" this morning and spoke to a young guy who said "yes, we have pre-sanded, 3/4" 10" x 4" sheets of plywood in stock." I desperately needed it for a project I am working on in my office. I have been calling and driving to different lumber yards for weeks, so I was thrilled to finally find a place who had what I needed in stock. On my lunch, I drove an hour to pick up the sheet. When I got there, I walked into the warehouse area, which was very nicely layed out, but I was unable to find the 10' x 4' sheets. I politely asked a short, older, redheaded lady, who clearly was not interested in helping me, and I said, "excuse me, are you able to help me?" She turned around and looked at me and her body language spoke volumes. No smile. No hello. No, "absolutely, how can I help you?" NOTHING kind was emanating from her. I was immediately put off by her vibe. She instantly made me feel like I was a bother, instead of treating me like a new, potentially paying customer. She acted like I was interrupting her day just by merely asking for assistance. If you work with this lady, you know what I'm talking about. I said, "thank you, I need help finding a certain type of wood. I've walked the entire warehouse and I only see 8' sheets of wood." She basically rolled her eyes at me, like a snotty teenager, and asked me "what type of wood do you need?" "I said I need birch or maple." She was quite rude and her tone was not nice at all. She replied, "so you don't have a measuring tape?" as she about faced and started her way to the customer counter to grab a measuring tape. I quickly said, "yes, I have one in my purse, but maybe you can point me in the right direction?" She immediately walked me over to where they had tons of 2x4's and speciality wood. I told her, "oh sorry, I need a sheet of wood." She replied rudely, "so you need plywood." I said, "Yes, sorry. I've walked the entire warehouse and didn't see anything that would be 10' long x 4'." She just gave me a smug laugh and said, "that has to be special ordered." I said, "okay, well my husband called this morning and the man on the phone told him you had them in stock." She said, "no," as curt as can be. Then she said, "it has to be special ordered." I said, "how long does it take to order?" She said, "I'm not wasn't sure, it might not even be in stock. If you order it today, IF it's in stock, it might be here by Friday." Man, she was clearly an unhappy person. I asked if she could please tell me how much the sheet would cost and she very rudely snapped, "it's a commodity, so we don't know until we place the order." This lady was a piece of work. So RUDE in every sense of the word. She didn't even try to offer to look it up for me. Whoever hired her, or if she runs the place, do NOT DO BUSINESS here. I will tell everyone I know not to buy here. I have never been treated so awful, simply for asking for assistance. There was absolutely no excuse for her to treat me like she did. She treated me like I was an inconvenience to her day and like I had no business being in that store asking for help. I told my husband what happened. He was irritated I drove all that way and then I was treated risky and he was misinformed. So, he called the store and the guess who answered? Cruella Deville. The same sharp, rude lady answered The phone. He explained his conversation to the gentleman he spoke to at 9 AM that same morning and that his wife had driven an hour to pick up that 10'x4' sheet pre-sanded 3/4" plywood, but clearly did not have. She reiterated rudle, lit has to be special ordered," and then cut him off and said, "how can I help you?" He was instantly lit by her demeanor and basically ignoring the fact he was misinformed. He said, "you can help me by training your staff on what you have in your inventory." He ended up hanging up on her because of her crappy attitude. Never buy your lumber from "Woodworkers Source." People remember how you make them feel and they will tell everyone about that 100 times more than a great experience they had. read more

This shop has it all; the options are endless and the quality of wood is above and beyond what you find anywhere else. They have frequent deals and wood of the month to accommodate any budget. Some of the cuts they offer are absolutely beautiful and that's coming from me (the wife who knows nothing about woodworking and normally finds places such as these somewhat boring). Every opportunity I can I accompany him to the shop because it is fun to see the collection they have; it's unlike any other you'll find. Remarkable poor customer service. Two boxes arrived, one kit was missing. Of the boxes that arrived, lumber thrown in helter skelter with no cushioning, no pick list. I filed a Trouble ticket and asked that they call me. No call - I had to call them. And then was told to take photographs of the items in the boxes so they could confirm that the missing item wasn't there. WOT? In frustration, I told the agent that this would be the last time I order from them. "Okay" was the glib response. So guess what - this will be my last order. read more

I want to thank Lou who is always extremely helpful in assisting me in purchasing the correct amount of lumber and cutting it exactly as required. This location could be an amazing place for everyone including people who are not expert in woodworking like myself who are just starting out and might need to ask questions or require a little help, but unfortunately unless you are an expert and know exactly what you want and write it down for them on their little piece of paper as they demand, they won't help you or cut or or mill anything that you are ready to buy from them. They are great at holding on to any knowledge they have and ready to make you look stupid if they sense you are a novice, a beginner. This was my experience today with their worker in the lumber area in the back (4/26/24 at 12:45). I attempted to ask a few question to a heavyset Hispanic male employee wearing a green company T-shirt with an ear piece by the dock in the back lumber area. He was useless and did not want to be bothered at all. In fact he even told me to come back later if I need anything cut or milled, cuz they're busy and asked that I make sure to write down what I want on a piece of paper and hand it to him, then he went back to his conversation with another worker. Please note there was literally only one other customer in the store. There were more employees than customers in the entire store. No one here at this location in Phoenix is interested in customer service or in helping customers. If you are a beginner in woodworking or need help or have questions about their lumber this is not the place for you, they'll just try to make you look stupid. Go to the location in Tempe and ask for the young employee by the name of Tegan (not sure exact spelling). He wears a big white cowboy hat, so it's easy to find him in the store. He's a younger employee, but he is very knowledgeable and very friendly, he puts all these old grumpy employees at the Phoenix location to shame. read more

Ordered 2 of their packs of 4/4 S2S maple boards that were all advertised as 5" or more width...one 6 foot long pack, and one 3 foot long pack for a project I was working on. The boards arrived sooner than I was told which was nice, and all the dimensions all were within spec. I should note the thickness was 13/16 which is bare minimum for 4/4 lumber, but I did order S2S, so I was OK with it...at first. I paid about as much per BF as I would pay local Lowes or Home Depot (I don't have many good sources of lumber nearby), but expected better quality coming from woodworkers source, given the reviews on their website. Once I received the material I started looking closer at it, and I noticed significant tearout, scoring, gouges and rippling all over the boards as if it has been run under a planer or milling machine WAY too fast, and with knicked or dull blades. I'm now thinking, man I think I might have gotten ripped off, could have just gone to Lowes to get smoother 3/4" material with the amount of extra time spent planing I'm going to have to do. I contacted the company about the price and quality concerns, and they got back to me pretty quickly, but only to say that I ordered a "preselected pack", so the price is high as it includes shipping. Also pointed out the you pay an extra fee for the convenience of having it in a pack, and it's a good for novice or beginner woodworkers, and I should select boards by the BF if I want the best price. (They didn't address my quality concerns this time around). OK so I understand the price is higher because they include shipping, and the convenience of having a bundle, thats nice, but when I have to plane down a S2S material to something less than 3/4", when I can get actual S4S locally, the price doesn't make sense. Moving on, I responded and asked them to comment on the quality issues, and they simply said they get material sent to them from a mill, and it just comes that way. Their guys should be sanding boards that have too much defect, and he will definitely let them know about it. That's pretty much it. No 'sorry yeah those boards look kinda bad', or 'wow yeah that's too much defect'. Basically just blaming it on the mill. I'm not expecting perfect, but when I pay for something advertised as S2S 4/4, that's what I expect. Perhaps they should expect more from their mill? 2 stars because initial speed of communication was good, and shipping speed was good. Customer satisfaction guarantee was pretty much non existent, I was left hanging with no offer to make things right. Wasn't looking for a coupon or refund, just an acknowledgment that they shipped out pretty crappy material that didn't meet the description. Also, it seems odd that on yelp they have 3.5 stars, but their website they have 5 stars? Are they curating reviews? Hmmmm, maybe I'll try to post one there and see if it goes through. read more

So I had heard good things about this company, so I thought I would try them out. Placed an order of white MDF. Ordered on Oct 11th. Was given an approx. "Delivery" date of Oct 20th to Oct 24th. Yesterday on the 24th, I called in wanting to know why it was still showing it was being picked, which it said for a week. I was told they would look into and it would mail out that day and would let me know if there were any other issues. No other contact, it is at least showing it is shipped now, but after waiting 2 weeks for delivery, then told, sorry it will be another 5 days from when it ships, this is very unprofessional and unacceptable for a business. I would have at least expected an offer to expedite it, seeing it was there screw up. If your running a business and are needing a reliable company that will ship on time and get it delivered when it is supposed to be.. Find another company! read more

I started fine woodworking about two years ago, prior to Covid. This store has been my go to place for hardwoods, baltic birch, and odds and ends. I have always found what I was looking for. The staff has always been helpful, jovial and friendly, though they usually need a gentle prompt. (which I don't mind, since I don't want to be pestered). The variety and selection of who choices has been fine. I joined their rosewood club (1 time price) and have gotten rebates of $50 two years in a row. I only have one complaint - they close too early each day, I often can not get there during day hours and need to wait until Saturday to get there in time. I just left there! And I have to tell you NEVER NEVER go to that place! I went to get some scrap wood for a certain size to to fit something in particular. Spoke to someone in there and scrap lumber was the way to go. I'm trying like crazy to measure these big heavy pieces of wood and trying to balance it on the canisters they have and one dropped on my ankle and left a big scrape and bruise! Hopefully it's not broken! There was absolutely no one in the store! I go into the store to ask for help and they wouldn't come out! To be continued...the wood I received was of terrible quality. I order 8/4 Canarywood and based on what they picked out to fulfill my online order it could have been supplemented with much cheaper wood. I purchased the Canarywood for its beauty and based on the pictures and there video of a project made with there products. When I contacted them regarding the Canarywood they sent me a picture back of the dullest piece of Canarywood they could find buried on there website and reference that as a possible product I would receive. My review is based on an internet order I did for some Qsawn white oak. I ordered 6 six foot long boards for a table top I was making. When I received the order, only one board was usable for my top, the remainder all had some significant defects including one that fell in the middle of a board. I have ordered a lot of lumber off the internet over the years and this was by far the worst quality. Rating would be one star except they did offer to refund my money. The last word I had from their customer service is that this is what they sell and you shouldn't expect anything else. I hate to write bad reviews, but when you don't make any effort to help a potential customer, it's what you get. I've truthfully never stepped inside one of their stores. I cannot comment on the selection, lighting, or cleanliness of the bathroom. What I can tell you is that I was looking for a particular type of wood and block size. I thought it would be more efficient to email the stores directly rather than drive to their different locations and hope. I used their website to find the email addresses of the Tempe and Phoenix stores' managers. I sent them identical inquiries explaining exactly what I was looking for. That was on 2/10/16 and 2/11/16 respectively. I have yet to receive even a "thanks for the inquiry". I won't sit here and make claims that they were rude or ripped me off. That didn't happen. I just didn't get the information I asked for from either the local stores. That tells me enough. read more
