2025 RUINED MY CHRISTMAS! On Dec 10th I called the store to make sure b4 purchasing the online special Yukon Solo Stove with stand and cover were avail before the 25th My total $524.04. Assistant Manger(AM) said they just received one it was unopened and box was not damaged in anyway. I called 3x and went down in person to see it that there would be no mistakes. The AM had never shown the one I WAS TOLD was in back with my name on it. I was shown the floor model only. Assured I was not getting the floor model. I made arrangements to pick up on the 24th as ACE HARDWARE Christmas Party was at noon.and were closing the store early. I arrived at 9am when the AM and worker brought it out my order to me, I was in tears.... A banged up box apparently re-taped with a very large 6in hole. AM with a cruel demeanor said "Oh well if you don't like it Ill just resell it there is nothing wrong with it" and I took pictures of it the AM was more concerned about the hole in the box getting larger than me receiving the FLOOR MODEL which was not on the floor anymore. Also said well, so what is it a present" Huh...The worker helped me put it in my truck and I paid him to help me since AM didn't care. On Christmas Eve when I surprised my family, 3 grown sons and grandchildren all excited and started to assemble 2 PIECES WERE MISSING! I was in tears. They were more disappointed that I was so upset but I knew that this AM was going to give me the hardest time to try and return it. My 2nd son a professional called the store to explain I would bringing it back. My oldest son came with me as I knew this man would take advantage of me. The AM walked away with my receipt in hand left us standing there for over 25 min. After asking several times where he went hoping we would just leave, he came back and said he'd see what he could do. Another 15min went by, my oldest walked back looking for him and found him with his back turned and had said something so bad my son would not repeated it. All my son said was that as a man he was disappointed and when the AM turned around and saw my son heard what he had heard him say, the AM came back quickly hands shaking A LOT and said I would get a full refund..... My son will still not tell me what the AM said. If YOU AGREE that an elderly disabled woman was NOT treated like a well paying customer. GO SHOP ANYWHERE ELSE for your gifts. It's also very surprising to see how much selection they really have and how big the store actually is once you get through the doors - it's in a corner that expands as you walk in so the small storefront doesn't reflect just how big the great "little" store is. We live close and are frequent customers but I will not be going back. I wanted to get paint, purchased from this location a few months ago, mixed and they told me no. They said the can would break, it's a metal can. I called Home Depot on Cavecreek and Cactus and they said "no problem". Then I explained that it wasn't bought from their store, still no problem. Everyone is trying to buy from local stores but some just don't want the business. Their prices are higher than Home Depot's too. read more

Every time I go I can't get out of there in less than 30 minutes. Paint matching for a quart of cheap eggshell paint takes 40 minutes. I came to this True Value hardware store to pick up my online order. Had my order delivered to the store for two reasons. One reason was that they had the best price for the product I ordered, and second reason was, it is free shipping if delivered to their store. So I received an email notifying me my order was ready for pickup. So here I was on a Friday morning heading over to Barry's True Value hardware store. Takes me about ten minutes to drive there. Their store is located in a small strip mall on the southwest corner of 12th Street and Northern Avenue. So here I am walking towards the store, wearing a mask, and gloves, due to this Covid 19 outbreak. As I approach the store there were people standing out front, and good distance from each talking to a lady who is making sure only four people are allowed in the store at one time. So I wait my turn. The lady finally asked me what I was there for. I told her I was there to pick up my order, and told her I had to speak to a guy named Matt. So she calls Matt to let him know I am there to see him. When Matt came out I showed him my order, and he directed me to the pickup counter. So I head back to the counter toward the back part of the store. I must of waited two minutes tops when Matt came to look for my order. Next thing I know, I sign for my order, and was handed over to me. Out the door to my vehicle. I have to tell you, every employee was wearing a mask and had gloves on, for their safety and the safety of their customers. I have done business with this store before, and let me tell you, they treat their customers like as if you were the only one. If you live in the general vicinity to the store, I highly recommend you shop there. read more

They are getting as bad as Home Depot. No service. They have lots of their products locked up and you need a person to open it up to get what I wanted. There wasn't any employees wondering around. I walked up to cashier to ask him if there was anybody working in the tool area. He said he would get someone there. WRONG. He also told me the wrong isle where what I wanted was. I went here after I bought some items at the 99 cent store. As soon as I entered the staffguy at the door told me to leave my backpack in the front. I asked why and he said because I may steal something. I've never stolen anything from a store and told him it's disrespectful to assume that of customers. it's just as possible my things would be stolen if left with strangers. I understand the rationale of some stores doing this but don't agree with this type of policy. If conveys immediate disrespect for customers walking in the door and assumes guilty until proven innocent which is not how our culture is supposed to work. Stores can use cameras and have staff watch customers. A shoplifter can still steal items anyway. The staff guy(I looked at their pics and it looks like the ones that say Dan Davis)also made a rude, smart aleck comment to me when I said I disapprove of their policy. Not recommended and I go to other hardware stores that respect customers instead. read more

Don't let size misguide you this location offers a big variety of electrical, hardware and pluming necessities for those jobs that need to get done at home. The store is laid out very well making it easy to move through each aisle. The cleanliness of this location makes you want to take your time and browse the entire store. The staff make you feel welcomed the moment you walk through the doors. They will even walk you to the location of specific item that you are looking for instead of pointing to you and telling you the aisle it is located. Since I live in the area I get ads and coupons of great savings on household goods. To any locals be sure not to toss the junk mail away. Came in during work because I needed a tape measure, forgot mine at home. I was wearing a polo, slacks and dress shoes. This is to say I didn't look like someone with ill intent. I browsed the store for maybe 5 minutes before going over to an Endcap where Stanley tape measures featured in the Ad were housed. As I grabbed one and turned to go pay an employee (Jeff I believe) came up to me and said "have a good day". The way he said it, the inflection in his voice, the intent was clear. The message was, get out. I asked for him to repeat himself by saying "pardon me". The employee gave me a thumbs up and repeated "have a nice day" obviously annoyed two more times. I showed him the tape measure and said "I haven't even paid for this yet". He said " okay, have a nice day". I'm not sure what I could have done to upset him/the staff. I try to not let little things bother me but this really pissed me off today. Usually don't mind shopping at Ace locations. This one in particular is clean, well organized and stocked well. What you give up in savings from the larger hardware stores you hope to make up in friendliness and assistance. read more

Not sure what to think of an employee, whom calls two women- guys, not once but 4 times- funny part, this employee never assisted us, was assisting another customer and decided to continue to tell us guys to have a good day, not once but had to say the word over and over. HMMMMM, what women can't wear baseball hats at this Ace Hardware-either homophobic or just plain rude and trust me he made his point. We will no longer shop here, it is a shame, we are 4 blocks away. read more

The Saturday afternoon staff-- Alex, Nick, Jeff, Yvette, and Jerimah-- provided exceptional service when my 11-y-old son and I visited the store in search of PVC pipe to construct a waffle-ball-strike-zone target. This included helping my son find all the fittings based on an image from the internet. They also helped him figure out the measurements, cut the piping accordingly, and fitted the piping together to make sure it would work. Barry's did the right thing for me and held integrity over a posted website price when they could have denied doing so. The Ace website was posting up a 12 pack of filters for the price of a single filter. The worker Matt had first rejected honoring this, but management called Barry himself and he stated it was important they always honor what is posted and priced. That is quality ownership and doing the right thing which is the most important thing in my book. Doing that, has earned my business and I would go out of my way to try and buy some things from this Ace when I can because this is huge! That is quality customer service and ownership. read more

We were immediately greeted by a young man who took us directly to what I described (which wasn't what we needed, by the way) and when we decided that it was too costly for what we needed SOMEONE ELSE (who could have stepped in when I described what I needed the first time) took us to the right thing. I appreciate the first, younger guy's attempt to help us but not that the other guy just kind of sat back and let us fail. I'm all for efficiency in action. They had all the things you're looking for in a hardware store: the things, the helpful people, the people who know what they're doing. Let me tell you about Barry's True Value. One word: Exceptional. The service and follow through on everything they sell and represent is unparalleled. We purchased an expensive Traeger grill from them last Summer (2019) and this year, when we had to get some work done on it we were kind of stumped as to what to do. Traeger corporate was not really up to go "hands on" for a repair. Well, one call to Barry's and they picked our grill up, repaired it, and delivered it back - all under the factory warranty! If this hardware store contains a portal to a happy alternate universe where unicorns romp, home repairs are performed with effortless competence, and anything big attracts a buff, shirtless handyperson of one's preferred gender and orientation... this would not surprise me. It is more packed with stuff than an old curiosity shoppe and even sells live chickens. I didn't wander this time because I was doing a string of errands while carrying my huge tote bag that justifiably makes store clerks nervous (I could swipe a small tractor in this thing). Instead, I was greeted and helped by a young man who comprehended what I wanted, had an intelligent answer for my questions, and handled my cluelessness without treat in me as stupid (an art in itself). It carries both widgets and sparkly home decor things, and it's between a Tuesday Morning and a huge 99 Cents Only, so there's every reason to make this a destination rather than staring blankly at the aisles of Home Depot. read more
