Have to take back everything I have said about this place. Usually snot nosed kids trying to help you but today took a propane bottle back that I was sure I purchased at Barrys but the store help (Matt) said that it was a different brand than what they sell (Blue Rhino) i am sure that i bought it there though. Any way he looked around a took a bottle off of their grill and exchanged for my bottle that I could not turn it on. Brought it home and it worked great could turn the valve on and off with no problem. He didnt have to exchange my bottle but he did cause he understands that I will be back forever now, because of a little gesture that saved my headaches and time chasing the other brand down. So I went in looking for wheel replacements for my shopping cart. An employee by the name of Ben asked if I needed help with anything. I said yes. I showed him the wheel that I had. and he said I don't think we sell anything that can fix that, but he offered to take my world to the back and see if he was able to adjust it. I waited for about five minutes when he came back with a piece and he fixed it for me. He went above and beyond to help me I really appreciate it. I love this Ace, the employees at this location are great once they see you a few times they become more helpful then they already are. The guys that work there know what they are talking about. My last project was a chicken coop, the recommended a few things I didn't think about and it turned out very nice. The thing with Ace is the selection of hardware. I'm a car guy I've got 3 classic cars and 75% of the time they have the screw, nut or bolt I need. It's close to my house, I've never been let down in a pinch. Here I am again doing a review on an Ace Hardware Store. I went to Cy's Ace Hardware Store on Glendale Ave west of 19th Ave. This place always brings me back to the good days when you went to the hardware store and you found everything you need plus good customer service. I needed some nail and instead of buying a commercial brand I went for the bulk nails. They're weighted by the pound and cost less. This is a place that also has women shopping here not just for guys. Their staff here is very helpful and friendly. Just because of the location and traffic don't shy away from here. Try them out. Had to make a visit to Barry's Ace Hardware to pick up new air conditioning filters. Asked one of the employees for help to pull the air filters from the top. No sooner I asked up on the ladder and the filters were in my hands. While I was there I happened to remember to ask if they carried Milorganite, an organic grass fertilizer. The gentleman looked at me and said let's look out in back. Sure enough they carry it. I thought to myself, I guess I never think to ask. That's all you ever have to do when you're looking for something just ask. Especially this hardware store, they are so helpful and always have that look on their face like they know you have a question and want to give you guidance. Today was a good day as always. I am so impressed with this store and it's staff. They assembled and delivered two patio heaters for me (Same day delivery). There was no charge for either the assembly or deliver. One of the heaters didn't work because of a bad thermocoupler. So they assembled and delivered a replacement within a couple hours. I came here for two kitchen cabinet hinges and was quickly helped by Norman. He approached me and asked if he could help me find anything. He found me; I didn't have to wander the store looking for help! Norman immediately recognized what hinges I needed and pulled them from the back of the store in less than two minutes! Customer service like that is incredible. The hinges I bought fit the cabinets perfectly! I've had similar experiences at other Ace hardware stores in the past and It's why Ace is my first choice for any hardware I need. I can't speak enough good things about Matt at Barry's Ace Hardware. I went in for a custom window screen and he guided me through to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. Great price too! My favorite thing about Matt was that when I asked for a new battery for my car fob he helped me out by putting it in, and then he noticed that the problem was also the circuit board inside it. He actually soldered it back together, glued the breaking plastic pieces, and saved me money in the long run!!!!! He never judged my broken fob, he just offered his help. I came to the store to try to support a local business instead of a big box store however I am extremely annoyed with my experience here! I was looking for a breaker and a gentleman who I asked for help couldn't find the breaker in the aisle so he said he was going to go look somewhere and disappeared, about 10 minutes to by and I had to search for someone additional to help to just say that they had no additional breakers in the back and the aisle was all they had. I wasted a ton of time trying to get help when It turned out that the guy was not actually going to try to find a breaker for me, but instead he started to help other customers .. so I was left standing there wasting my time. Poor customer service and poor communication on their end. In additional one worker was apologizing to another worker for losing his temper with him when I was standing there waiting to ask for help. This was a very discouraging visit so I don't think I will be back to this Ave unfortunately. read more

This is my local HW store and I've always been happy, but yesterday they went above & beyond. I was costing a new key for my daughters Acura and they gave me a number. I thought it was steep so I went home and called Acura, which was (not exaggerating) 8x more expensive. I called a local locksmith who bid me higher than Acura so I went back to Ace. They cut & programmed the key and I didn't know they closed at 6, but stayed a few mins late to make sure everything was good. I'm from a tiny town and this place has the feel of my home town hardware store. All it needs is a bunch of ice and black, crusty snow, biting black flies and a severe alcohol problem and I'll be back in MN. Thank you. read more

5 stars! There are two locations and they are both amazing! Everyone is so friendly and helpful and they always seem to have exactly what you need. Definitely beat the competition to a pulp. When I would have to go to Home Depot or Lowe's there was ALWAYS someone working with an attitude. I felt like I was the super bright bug light and the attitudes were the bugs. I hate going for that reason! I love Ace Hardware. It is like an old-fashioned hardware store; not like your big box Lowes or Home Depot. It's small and quaint and the same four people work there every day. And, if you go in enough times, I suspect it would be like walking into the Cheer's bar -- where everybody knows your name. The fact is, Ace Hardware has just as much stuff as those other huge home improvement stores. They just don't carry as much of a selection or stock as many items. Nevertheless, every time I have some sort of home repair need, they always have exactly what I'm looking for. You walk in, are greeted by the friendly cashier and asked what you are looking for. And just as quickly as you can say "thingamajig," they show you were it's at. Now that is what I call service. No need to stand around waiting for someone to help you or go searching the entire 50,000 square foot store for one small item. Nope, like the jingle proclaims.. "Ace is the place!"
