This North Phoenix Granite & Quartz business (the Yard) has convenient Saturday hours & the location is easy to find. They also seem to specialize in remnants. The few times I have interacted with the salespeople however, left me not wanting to purchase there. They were always hurried & dismissive. Aracruz RE on the other hand, has a much larger selection of quartz & granite and their prices ranged about 20% less... The Friendly staff & a large welcoming lobby (offering coffee & donuts) makes Aracruz RE a win-win for me. I ended up purchasing there. read more

This place is fantastic. It is no-nonsense, no-frills, but absolutely rock bottom prices on granite, quartzite, etc. They usually get remnants from jobs that didnt' need all of the order, so it's a bit unusual to get enough to do a whole kitchen unless it's a small one, but this place is fantastic for getting slabs for bathrooms, an accent counter, or furniture modifications. They have good fabricators that they are partnered with for cutting your stone to size and install. Their website is pretty good and will give you a good idea of what to expect when you go, but nothing replaces going in person. Plan to spend some time there to go through what they have, but once you pick what you want, they are great, friendly and helpful. Have used 2x and will definitely repeat when needed. read more

We have know about The Yard for years, but until recently never had a reason to visit. We drove down after checking out some of their stock and pricing online. The Yard is clean and organized with shelf numbers and locations for specific countertop types. Staff was friendly and accommodating to our needs. We found a small slab that was perfect for our new kitchenette area. The staff here even provided us with a list of cutters and installers. I have been using these guys for years. I will no longer be using them as a contractor. I just asked that if I send you business you take care of my customer and me. I'm not asking for money or a kickback even though several other places off of that. all I ask is that you don't stress my customer out with threats of a 30 day pick up fee. This place is had a lot of stone in all shapes and sizes for a reason. However you need to know what you are doing. The first piece we selected as pictured was of unacceptable quality to our fabricator. We were told by The Yard it was perfect. It costs us an additional $75 for the fabricator to drive over twice. We also had to drive another hour to pick the second piece. Feel the stone, each inch to make sure the blemishes are minor. We got it right the second time. The counter top is beautiful. I found this yard on google when looking for "Granite Pieces" and saw it had 5 stars. We were in need of a small piece of granite for a bar area. We arrived and we were a little overwhelmed by all the choices, what color and how to choose?! Nate (Sales Associate) could tell we were beginners when it came to stone purchasing. Nate was BEYOND helpful and walked us through all the stone, gave us his honest opinion and dealt with my 1,456 questions. Their staff is extremely friendly and helpful, they took their time showing me their inventory and helping me pick a good piece for my project. LOVE this place and the staff. Incredible customer service (so friendly and patient when I was indecisive), great prices and they sell remnants or half slabs. The other place our PM sent us to took 45 minutes to assist, didn't offer any help or information about the pieces, and only sold full slabs. The Yard staff offered to move the slabs to see them in different lighting, carried and laid out our cabinet doors and floor piece for us at each slab, gave us info about the elements in the slabs, and even tried to help us stay under budget. When the kitchen is done and we start on the bathrooms, we'll be back! Just a note: you need an appointment (super easy on their website) and they'll sell to individuals instead of just contractors. This surprised us as we had to pay for the pieces upfront instead of our PM paying upon pick up, so be prepared. read more

A great selection of marble, granite, and Silestone for any project. We found the perfect size slab of Silestone for our bathroom remodel for $180. Home Depot was going to charge us three times as much for the exact same stone (in a smaller size). On top of having such a great selection, all the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We were holding off on doing our kitchen counters, but now that we found The Yard we are bumping up our project because we know we'll save so much money. read more

I stopped by there yesterday just to see what it was all about and not expecting to see row after row of different sizes and colors of tile. I had no idea of what to expect so I went into the office to ask. A young gal named Debby said she would accompany me outside and show me what I may be interested in. She was quite helpful and had to be exceptionally strong to be moving those slabs. Although I did not find exactly what I was looking for I was advised that their inventory changes daily. I will return next week and the week after and the week after that until I find the exact piece for my remodel. I am confident that it will happen. I've been to many stone yards, and this one by far has been the friendliest and most professional to work with so far. I started looking at their many slabs and remnants and was approached by one of their guys, AJ. I was only looking for a small amount of granite to support a limited remodel of my kitchen and a fireplace - I kind of expected to be ignored once I mentioned the small size of the job, but AJ helped me from start to finish - I also met the owner, who was really down to earth and friendly, as well as genuinely interested in what I had to say. Want "a guy"? Have i got "a guy" for you! In Chicago, everyone's got "a guy" - the guy that you easily share with everyone you know because, well, they are worth their weight in PLATINUM. Well, I've proudly got a new "guy"! I am beginning one of many small projects in our new gently used home which is sorely in need of an update. Need granite? These guys are that platinum standard! Truly! I went to The Yard a few weeks back to check out the digs. There are rows of granite and granite remnants (quartz too!) that are large enough for just about any project you may have! They are super friendly and more than willing to help you find that perfect piece. With granite, I firmly believe you fall in love...it's an emotional attachment to the natural stone that you feel and you just know it when you see it. For me, my feet tingle when I have made that special connection! I first met AJ then, but wasn't ready to commit to a piece yet. I saw a few that I liked, but needed to choose tile first. After choosing my backspash tile, I went back there with new seriousness. This place is so amazing that the same piece of granite/quartz likely won't be there long. So, I walked the granite row (which is HUGE) to look for the perfect piece. Not only can you see the granite pattern easily, they also catalog each piece with a number and the size of the piece. I was given 78x32 by my builder and away I went. I found a kickin' half slab (that maybe will get me a couple of serving boards too) as well as my new bathroom counter. When you find a piece that you like (or a few...but don't be crazy and make them pull out 10), they will pull the pieces out so you can see them in their entirety. I worked with AJ LaRocca who could not be a more professional and eagerly helpful "guy"! He measured the pieces for me and one was a wee shorter so he was great to have a discussion with me as whether or not we could work with the smaller piece. He could have easily talked me into that smaller piece, but above him wanting me to have a piece I LOVED, he wanted to be sure I would have a piece (that I also LOVE) that would be a better size. I totally appreciate that honesty. For me, finding my "guys" to get things done means I am settling in to my new home. I am looking forward to using AJ for many more projects in our home! He couldn't have been more accommodating. Not only did he know the inventory but, was full of interesting information.
