We went to The Yard, to pick out a surface for two bathrooms. They are exceptionally friendly, and easy to work with. If there is a piece that interests you, they will go, and pull it out, and display it, so that you can see it in its entirety. They'll even wipe, and clean it. We went during the summer..if you do that, it is best that you go early (and bring water, though they'll supply some, and an umbrella, for shade) We ended up picking out a solid color of quartz, for one bathroom; granite for the other one. We also purchased two under-mount sinks from them. Now for the installation. They gave us the name of a contractor that they just started to work with, and he was great!! Rafael Soto. Everyone who comes to see my new kitchen remodel gets to hear me talk about The Yard, because my granite countertops get so much attention. I am an exceedingly thorough shopper. What takes others days takes me months, because I go everywhere and compare quality and prices, while learning as much as I can. Needless to say, I had shopped at many well-known natural stone facilities in Phoenix and its environs. Upon entering The Yard, my 10 year old daughter and I were greeted by AJ. It was a sweltering summer day and she had to get out of the heat. He took her to their very nice office, got her water, set her up with the WiFi and between the office ladies and PBSkids.org, she was happy as a clam. Their collection of slabs and smaller remnants was surprisingly good! The inventory is quality. Here there are only one or two slabs per kind, which was fine for me, and one reason they offer such amazing prices. You're not going to find 10 consecutive slabs, but you are going to find some GORGEOUS pieces. It made me feel like I had come upon a hidden treasure trove. I just wasn't expecting it at all. I figured I'd pick up a small piece for my bathroom countertop, which I did find, but I also went crazy over a 3cm slab of mascarello for my kitchen. AJ was a courteous gentleman, who had slabs moved and displayed, was readily available to answer questions and was patient! I also had a conversation with the owner, who was not only friendly, but I could tell he was a man of good character. I will continue directing people to The Yard, since I have already ferreted out that it is the best place to buy your slab or remnants! read more

I went to The Yard for a couple of bathroom vanity tops. I thought it was a smaller place that specialized in smaller pieces. I was quite surprised. The have a tremendous selection of slabs of all sizes. The lady I talked to, Annel, spend quite a bit of time with me showing me how to evaluate the pieces. The place was very neat and clean and I was really treated like a VIP even though I was buying a pretty small piece. I have remodeled several bathrooms and was looking for interesting, high-quality pieces to top two vanities. I had the great good fortune of meeting JB Ball, part of the Yard's great team, and he was a tremendous help. I was looking for very different colors for each of two bathrooms, and one JB honed in on those color ranges, we were in the chase! Unlike many organizations offering remnants, these are clearly marked with the width and depth of each piece and arranged smaller to larger. this means your search is focussed on the appropriate size to save the most $$. JB accessed the Yard's computerized inventory system a number of times to help locate appropriately sized pieces once I had settled on a pattern. Everyone in the office was interested in my project and even offered insights from their experience. The staff at The Yard were very helpful in helping us select a more exciting slab for our kitchen island that would match another slab we had picked out for the rest of the kitchen. They kept checking to see if we needed help, offered suggestions, and were happy to pull out slabs we wanted to see. First, off I will say that I started my search for kitchen counter tops at Home Depot. I was quoted nearly twice as much for only half of what I purchased at The Yard! Its not just a great price, the people here (Dan, AJ, and Jason) were extremely helpful! I was there for nearly 2 hours and as a first time home buyer this decision was very overwhelming. These people are GOLD. They know their product and their prices are out of sight. They are so easy to deal with. Called 3 granite places. They wanted $1800-2200 to do my bathroom job. The Yard had the slab and a list of fabricators. Raphael of RMS did the job. This guy is an "ace"! A real craftsman. Made the hole to small for the sink. Next day he sent over his helper to widen the holes. What a guy. Did not have to beg. A real professional and great work. The whole project came in at $800!
