I love smoked salmon, but I definitely underestimated my ability to handle wasabi! I thought the spread would mellow out the flavor a bit, but nope--the wasabi really lingers in your mouth and does not want to leave. I ended up wiping some of it off after a while because it was just too much for me. That said, the toast itself was so good--soft on the inside with the perfect crunch, and the salmon practically melts in your mouth. The whipped ricotta was even better! Overall, really enjoyed the food and the cute café atmosphere. Just go easy on the wasabi if you're not a fan of strong flavors!

I woulda asked but home skillet was ktfo and I wasn't tryna awaken the beast. That isn't discrediting the service or this place at all. My 3 star is purely at a cost to quality standpoint. We ended up grabbing a chocolate brownie and a chocolate chip cookie to go. We were so glad we finally found this spot! Great coffee, tasty food, and plenty of treats to choose from.

The hardest part was parking in Woodstock on Labor Day weekend. The turkey sandwich had a ton of flavor and the bread was lucious and fresh. I enjoyed everything I ate but I expected some sort of wow considering the reviews. Maybe my expectations were too high, but for me this lands firmly in the "good" rather than "amazing" category. If I'm comparing Hudson Valley bakeries, Mel the Bakery in Hudson absolutely blows this out of the water. Still, a solid stop in Woodstock and certainly worth trying. Baked just right with a great Pecan praline and a delicious raspberry sauce that brings it all together. I cant wait to try this place again. The staff was so friendly and the decoration and vibe just fit so well with the log cabin feel. Please note it is a cash only place but there is an ATM machine for use and parking can get limited during busy peaks of the day. The log cabin cafe is a must try!

This out of the way corner cafe in Upstate Athens is very homey, open, clean, welcoming and has lots of off beat offerings that a regular passer by would not necessarily expect. It has big windows. For one, they hotly cook-up pizzettes, hot and very flavorful sandwiches, soups, coffees and tea. Right next to the register is a clear glass window box with all sorts of scrumptious sweets, muffins, cakes, tarts, choco donuts and cupcakes - that are made each day, I might add. The display is quaint and spot-on and each dessert is elevated on a tiny cake platter on a doily. Next, all the menu boards (above the counter and to the side) are easily legible, for elderly too. The menu that was handed to me was also not too complicated (2 sides) and was laminated, to avoid Covid. The staff was professional, bouncy (music), well prepared for groups that came and friendly. Some staff even remembered what some of the elderly in line wanted, before they ordered. How is that for manners and style?! Go kick rocks down an alley Starbucks! Lastly - the food and drinks here are simply very outstanding. I do not say that often. My cheese panini-style sandwich had layers of molten and hot cheeses, seared onions and somewhere in that mass also herbs and some dark mustard! It was scrumptious. They serve other classics like turkey, salami, ham sandwiches (some already wrapped for quick sale and go). The Athens Rooster is off the beaten (egg?), no track; (just kidding) but the parking is easy, there are lots of seats and even just simply placing (it's a small gesture, for sure - but chefs like me take note) a large jug full of free lemon water with clean cups on the bar counter at the front, really: makes all the visitors days. Cafe go-ers love those water jugs. Believe me! The Athens Rooster is a well maintained, bright and friendly late breakfast and late lunch spot. The grilled cheese and coffee stayed hot longer than 15 minutes after the sale. Very delicious! Top notch cafe - expertly prepared cuisine. Review: 5+

The restaurant has lots of windows which is great because it overlooks the creek. The service is quick and friendly. People weren't kidding when they said everything is made in house. The lemonade was fantastic. My brisket melt was flavorful and I like the fact it had fresh jalapeño's to give additional texture and flavor. The fries were thin and good - and the homemade ketchup was good. My mom had the chicken tenders and they are the best I ever had - I know, I know, how good could they be? Delicious. They are lightly battered, perfectly fried, juicy, and the herbs and spices come through. I'd come back to get my own order. On the way out, we ordered 6 different donuts which were so good and airy. To my surprise, the apple fritter was my favorite - slight crunch outside, good slightly chewy texture, and great flavor. None of the donuts were too sweet. I'll be back!

They have your breakfast basics covered: eggs, rolls, wraps, toast or whatever carb you're in the mood for. If you have a sweet tooth, they have pastries, if you're on a 'healthy' kick, they have bowls. I had The Lox Works and it actually lived up to the name. Plenty of salmon, red onions, a sliver of creamy cream cheese how I like it (I skipped the capers, personal choice). The bagel itself was fresh and had that perfect crisp on the outside and a chewy inside. Except, it's little on the doughy side, and the tomato slices were also thick- but still, the sandwich was tasty.
