They are located in Hawaiian Brian's on the right before the pool hall. I really like the ambiance in there and how they have almost a different theme for the sections. The orange tree in the middle is a cool piece right in the middle. We sat behind the speakers in a little corner that had a Korean bar feel. Our servers Wes and Lindsey were super on it and came by often, explained the menu really well and all around on top of things. We went on a Saturday and unfortunately they had run out of a couple dishes, btw they are all vegan or mostly vegan as some dishes have honey in it. What you're really coming here is for drinks tho, they have lots of specialty cocktails which are unique to them, I like the flavors and how they section them off on the menu by types. Drinks run about $15 each and they have a variety of sippy shots at $10. If you like the shot they can turn it into a full cocktail if you want. Hands down, one of my favorite speakeasies. This was actually the first speakeasy I went to (that I can recall) and it was honestly so much fun. You text them to make a reservation and remember to bring a nickel for entry! It's located in Hawaiian Brians so you can park in their structure. When you arrive, you just past the restaurant and it should be on your right side in a little dark hallway. Just trying to get inside was another game for me. We played with the door three times to get a good video that the staff actually came out to make sure we were okay (oops) but the space inside is so cool! I love the dim vibes with their lights I didn't realize but their menu is vegan based! Imagine my reaction when I ordered the "Char Siu" Baos, only to find out it was tofu but I still enjoyed the food. Their Hurricane Popcorn is delicious and I'm glad it's complimentary (hopefully they still do this) but you can also order more of it. My favorite drink is the Maneki Neko which is Ume based. Service was great and vibes were dope but honestly I struggled to drink these cocktails. It's not necessarily the ingredients were bad but they all felt very unbalanced like way too sweet or way too one flavor. Personally im someone who likes a boozy drink but when I got the old fashion it had way too much chocolate liquor where it just felt artificial. Came on a Friday evening with reservations. It was dark but enough light available. Really cool once you walk in, perfect for photo opts with the girls & our waiter was kind enough to take our photos. The food is more like pupus, but everything we had tasted really good. Not much "shot" options, so sorta limited. But a few of their cocktails & special shots were pretty tasteful. It wasn't busy or packed with people, so it was nice to where we could have a conversation without shouting at each other. Prices for drinks ranged from average to pricey. Very cute, almost exactly as described in reviews and I found this place through word of mouth (I had many friends visit this bar before so I had to come try for myself!) I love hidden gems and speakeasies so this fit what I was looking for! Definitely make a reservation too - it's also located in Hawaiian Brian's, we found it after asking around. We went on a Thursday night- my friend and I entered through the vending machine door, and it opened up into a cool, Asian fusion themed bar area with lots of seating and interesting decor. The drinks menu was pretty extensive and the food looked good! I got the popular ube/purple dragon cocktail (ask to custom it since it's actually a shot) and my friend ordered the sangria. I really wanted to give this 5 stars but unfortunately I didn't like the service - maybe it was an off night but our bartender was pretty inattentive/cold and didn't seem to want to recommend anything when we asked (only served when we waited and reminded her a couple times, also for water) I wanted to try the vegan popcorn (out of many food options when we came) so maybe next time! read more

Amazing ! I'm a sucker for hidden speakeasy's reservation would be recommended to be on the safe side . They have limited snack options mostly vegetarian. I loved that I had to walk in through a Juice machine after putting in a nickel . As soon as you walk in through the second door that says wild orange it's lighting is intimate and not bright . You will eventually be provided with instructions and steps on how to get in. The atmosphere was dark and decor is old school bar with gambling machines on the wall. Apparently the owner got busted for illegal gambling den many years ago. Drinks were delicious, but I have to admit it was quite a bit so I can't recall exactly what it was I ordered. I tried a few. This is a very exclusive speakeasy! 2 of my friends in our group texted the phone number that they scoured online for and only one got a response back. We were luckily able to make a reservation for the same day at 8:30pm. Please be mindful that there is a $50 charge for a no show fee and they ask for your credit card when booking. DO NOT FORGET A NICKEL OR ELSE YOU WONT BE ABLE TO GET IN. When arriving, you enter this club-like place with multiple areas for a restaurant, a club, a gaming area. After the restaurant, to the right, is the hallway that will lead you down to the vending machine. Insert the nickel and select one of the drink options and push inwards. The vibes are immaculate and we loved all the Asian accents at the bar. Now onto the drinks, my friends and I got 3 dots and a dash, purple dragon made into a drink, hold the boba, like cracks and the umeshu high ball. This is probably one of the most unique speakeasies I've been to. The ambiance is really intriguing. It is reservation only and you will need a nickel. With that being said my friend set up reservations for our party and lacked to inform us that the food was vegan. So unexpectedly, I arrived hungry and had to ordered a bunch of food. But I'll start off with the drinks. The drinks were fantastic! My favorite was the umeshu highball which consists of Japanese whiskey, umeshu and yuzu. Another top contender was the Oaxacan old fashion. As a group we tried to order one of most of everything and there wasn't any drink in particular that we didn't enjoy. Now for the food, the char siu Bao buns were my favorite. If it wasn't for the consistency it would be hard to tell that it was tofu. The spicy ahi were good as feel. Wild Orange is a hidden gem tucked away inside Hawaiian Brian's. It is such a treasure hunt to find the secret entryway. You will enter through an Aloha Maid vending machine by inserting a nickel. What a unique spot! Ambiance is Japanese inspired, interesting wall art and old casino slots. Tip: Make reservations by calling them. You will have to put a CC on file and they will charge you if you don't show up. I've sat at both the bar and lounge seats, both are great. Great speakeasy spot for date night or friend hangouts. It does get pretty loud with the music, so it's hard to have conversations with groups. The drinks were surprisingly good! They aren't very strong though. My favorite is the Ube based drink. The food is vegan bar food, therefore maybe eat before coming? It's very light/small. Last time I went most cocktails were priced at $15. So many drinks! This is kinda similar to bar leather apron but a lower scale. This speakeasy is located in Hawaiian Brian's. It's a hallway on the right side before you get to the pool and concert area. I read reviews you need a nickel to open the door, but that's not true anymore. You can just push the door open. This place is very tiny and you need reservations, but my friends joined me last minute without any reservations. There's so many drinks and options. Every one I had was so good! The Frankie is probably the best tasting. Also the himichan. The Frankie had hochija, rice water, and sake. I think it's seasonal. It was a take on the daily whisk matcha. Same for the himichan which has strawberry purée, matcha, and amazake. I also had the jasmine jewels which had a subtle jasmine flavor but orange mist taste. I think the menu changes, so you should come in now if you want to try the matcha inspired drinks! Definitely recommend, it's more sweet drinks but not too sweet. Wild Orange is a lovely speakeasy with incredible drinks, friendly staff, and impeccable vibes. It admittedly is pretty hard to find, and we were assisted by not one, but two different very helpful security guards on our quest to find the place. Probably the most direct way to get there is by going into the 24h fitness entrance, up the stairway on the right, then directly through the gym hallway into the second floor of the parking deck. Once you get to the parking deck, go to the entrance of Hawaiian Brian's and past the security/bouncer's podium (we got carded and got bracelets, I am not 100% sure if this is necessary for getting into Wild Orange or if it's just a Hawaiian Brian's thing). Walk down that hallway till you reach a door on the right that's just past a dining room, go down that hallway and push the "Aloha Maid" door and you're there! Worst comes to worst, you can ask folks where it is and they'll direct you. The bar itself is dark with really fun decor and several seating areas. We sat at a table near the bar and interacted with a few different staff, all of whom also seemed to be bartenders and were super knowledgeable about the menu. I've been to a few speakeasy type establishments in the past, and to be honest I've always felt like people were a bit snooty and unwelcoming. That is NOT the case at Wild Orange, where everyone we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and didn't bat an eye when we asked them to explain some things on the menu. I had the umeshu highball and the jinx (one of the shots in cocktail form). My drinking buddies also loved the umeshu highball and the purple dragon (in cocktail form) as well as the easy squeezy. Personally, I think the umeshu highball is the platonic ideal of a cocktail. It's super well balanced and the special touch of the dried shiso rim takes it to extraordinary. If it wouldn't knock me on my behind the next day I would've had one after another. They also have a short food menu (all plant based, which is awesome) of fun bar food. The hurricane popcorn is a great umami snack to munch on, and my drinking buddy who had the tofu bao really enjoyed it. In terms of the overall atmosphere, they have a great playlist going. The music is loud enough that if you're sitting across the table from someone you'll have a hard time hearing each other. If that bothers you, this might not be the place to go with a large group, but it is kind of perfect for dates because it makes you lean in to hear the other person. We went on a Thursday night and it was pretty busy despite being a weeknight, so if you're going on a weekend I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. Overall, this bar was a really pleasant surprise and I'd definitely go back the next time I'm in Honolulu. read more

I always look for speakeasies when I travel and I was very happy to find this one. Sadly I forgot the one thing needed to get in but they let us in anyway. Oops. Shoutout to the security guy in front though because he was really nice and helped guide us to the location. The decor inside is so beautiful and the countertops are something I've never seen. It was so unique and breathtaking to see such beautiful artwork as a bar countertop. Staff were friendly and the drinks were well crafted with great flavor. I had the shot that, of course contained Ube. The purple dragon Pro tip: you can order the shots as full size drinks. That is exactly what I did when the bartender informed me and I was in awe. I would have this drink with every meal. Holy water needs to be replaced with this scrumptious drink. No offense, it was just so good. The only disappointment was the spam musubi. I think I had such high hopes because every drink we had was so good. Sadly it was dry and pretty bland. It pains me to even write something bad about this place but yeah, it sadly was not good. I will obviously try it again because I don't like to bash something just off of one visit. Despite that, I can't wait to visit again and highly recommend everyone try to visit this place. Wild Orange was a pleasant highlight of my recent trip to the islands. A lot of bars nowadays try to brand themselves as a speakeasy, but Wild Orange is probably the one bar I've experienced that really lives up to that label. It's located inside Hawaiian Brian's, which alone is already hidden inside a parking structure off the main road. Hawaiian Brian's is a completely different vibe compared to Wild Orange - more of a dive bar that has live music. When we visited, Brian's was hosting some sort of heavy metal concert and we definitely felt a little confused if we were in the right place. And the entrance to Wild Orange is hidden in a dark corner where you'll find the iconic vending machine door that transports you to a darker, intimate, artsy room. The drinks at Wild Orange were very unique which I appreciated - a lot of tropical/exotic twists on classic cocktails. I got the Purple Dragon, which is listed as a shot but can be made into a cocktail, and the ube flavor gave a nice undertone to the fruity/floral flavor of the drink. I also opted for another drink that I can't really recall the name of - it was a golden milk twist on an espresso martini that I also loved even more! Oh man oh man, where to start! As a tourist, this location was pretty intimidating for me. We had a hard time finding the entrance, so we asked someone and they kindly showed us. When you get in, it's truly magical. The decor is great. Bartenders were nice and attentive as well. We started with shots, and then ordered cocktails. I got the Jasmine Jewels and Hold the Boba. Jasmine Jewels was sooo clean tasting, almost like a delicious health drink. I was obsessed. Hold the Boba was good as well. My husband got the Highland Sazerak. He said it's in the top 3 cocktails he's had IN HIS LIFE! I usually hate anything scotch / whiskey/ bourbon, but I was able to drink his without making a face, and actually enjoyed it!! The smoke within the drink was truly in it as one, not just covered in smoke. Wow!! This place will have the best masterfully crafted cocktails you've ever had. Super chill speakeasy with great drinks and delicious food. A group of us went on a Friday night and had everything on the food menu. Not a hard alcohol toper, I stuck to beer and wine while my friends indulged in the craft cocktails. So here's my 2 cents... The Beers: You probably will not find these beers in your fave micro brewery laden in dark wood and ringing with Kurt Corbain's angst echoing in the background. What do I mean?... Echigo Weizen - A Japanese 1st micro brewery interpretation of the hefeweizen wheat beer. Floral/vegetal flavors with mild citrus undertones, it's a terrific aperitif to awaken the mouth, mind, spirit and put the tastebuds on notice that it's time to punch in. Matcha IPA - From Japan's heavenly city of Kyoto, this beer says enough with the small talk and pleasantries, let's get down to business and work up a sweat. Full bodied, round and soft with a hint of pleasant bitterness ( no ex wives jokes please) hiding under citrus notes, this beer ends with a cleansing/ pleasing matcha finish. Perfect with more bold flavor foods. The Food: Brimming with umami that screams ooh daddy, the entire menu is vegan but created with the same flavor profile as their meat/fish counterparts. We were totally blown away at the amazing flavors and creativity of each dish. Later we discovered that the food is outsourced from FoodStart by chef Jeremy Shigekane, formerly executive chef and owner of the James Beard award restaurant Marvo on King St. It was hard to choose but my fave 3 dishes were the... Kalbi Eryngii Mushroom - Meaty texture with a wonderful balance of sweet, sour & salty. Not overly saucy, the mushrooms detained a perfect amount of Kalbi glaze that coats the tastebuds without infringing the mouth's outer edges. Hoisin Mushroom Bao - Same concept as the Kalbi but with hoisin sauce and cozily tucked in pillowy soft buns that float like puffs of wanderlust clouds in the mouth while the mushrooms execute the heavy lifting of entertaining the tastebuds. Coconut Soy Tapioca - Like a 7th chord resolving into a major chord, this refreshing, light little dish, tells the orchestra to impart a triumphant finality and bring closure to a lovely meal. The Atmosphere: Super chill and charming with a soft golden lit speakeasy mutter, the room exudes hideaway and intimacy. The bar area, a bit more lit for perhaps those eharmony evenings where luminosity serves an important function. The back tables dwell with the whisper of dim lit faces where operatives murmur something about ruling the world. We sat in the back so yes be very afraid. After trying a couple of the specialty cocktails we asked her for something off menu and she made us an amazing sesame drink. I'm not one to veer outside of my comfort zone but our server/barista listened to what my friend and I preferred flavor-wise and asked excellent questions to pin point the perfect drinks for us. also, this is truly a speakeasy...even with text directions on how to find the entrance, we got lost and had to ask the staff at Hawaiian Brian's for help lol. tip: when you enter from the parking garage, there's Slack Key Lounge to your right. go just past the lounge and you'll see a black painted wall. turn into that little hallway and that's where you'll see the aloha maid vending machine. from there, my lips are sealed ;) the wild orange cocktail menu is truly so unique. some of their drinks are unlike any others i've had before, and others are just really good versions of classic drinks. they're also almost completely vegan! I think the only exception is that some items have honey, so it depends on how much of a stickler you are to veganism. I got the "hold the boba" and was surprised at how delicious a milky cocktail could be. I drank that up real quick and then got the last word which was a fruity and refreshing change of taste from the sweet and creamy boba drink. my friend got the smoked roots which was super unique, really a new taste that you can't find elsewhere. they gave us complimentary popcorn too. if you get the drunchies like me then you know how good a salty snack is with your drinks. the last drink we got (and the one I recommend the most) is the purple dragon. This is the best surprise place to take someone you want to impress. First of all, as soon as we walk into the dive bar pool table I felt overdressed and ridiculous. He held his composure as we looked around. When we past the live music area to the aloha maid vending machine, I thought something was up. Luckily they have coins to put in, but no need, just push the door through. Inside the ambiance is sooo cool. Romantic lighting, international music, and we got the best seat in the house in front of the orange tree. We were the bone king & queen. Now the servers that took care of us were super present, knowledgeable, and kind. They guided us through the vegan asian tapas menu, which we recommend everything. The kalbi eryngii mushrooms were our favorite. But you're probably there for drinks. They are divided by taste profile. It's a dream. Everything is amazing. Try the purple dragon shot for sure. First off, it was a little tricky finding this place, you wouldnt expect it would be there. The bouncer, Hulk is amazing so polite and kind. Second, the bartender was amazing she recommends a lot of food and drinks and they dont disappoint it was top notch.
