It is so lovely to be dining out again! This modern restaurant is in the Edwin Hotel. The patio has a lovely view of the pedestrian bridges (metal one to the museums) and the old one that goes across the river. They have spaced out the tables, so no one is too close to anyone and appropriately socially distant. The patio has a mix of high top seats, tables, and couches. We sat at a table closest to the bridges so we could people watch with a lovely view. We ate early, 5:30 pm because there were no reservations for later times, but we enjoyed having the place to ourselves for a little bit. Our server was attentive and gave good suggestions. I had the tasty French 75, and my husband enjoyed the Moscow mule. While perusing the menu, they brought us a taste of the oh so good biscuit with a sourgum butter spread. It was so good we were tempted to order the appetizer that had those in it so we could have more, but we resisted the temptation. Instead of more biscuits, we had the burrata as our appetizer. I am a Mac and Cheese girl, so when I'm not following keto, it is one of the things I go back to as it is my comfort food. This mac and cheese might be one of my favorite ever macs. First off, it is a hefty serving size, and I like it served in a dish that keeps it warm. It was so creamy, and the noodles were perfectly cooked. We devoured it and ate every last bite. My husband even wondered if I was going to lick the bowl. We ordered the trout sandwich as our main, and it was very good as well. We went this past Friday night. View was cool. Would be nice to see the sunset from there. Food was really good and the kitchen was as accommodating as they could be with food allergies. Service was just OK. Started out good, but then just took the dive. 1/2 a dozen people serving the table, which didn't bother us, it was more the lack of communication between the servers when one of them asked you if you needed anything then dropping the ball in following through or getting it to the proper person. An example is we ordered the cauliflower app. No one came to the table to tell us it was 86'd. We found out after we received all of our dishes then asked if the cauliflower was coming and the response was they were out. We would have ordered something else if we had known up front. Never took the cauliflower off of the menu as they said they would. I would go back again and hope that the service or crew on that night would be more on point. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this restaurant. I came here almost one year ago in 2021 for brunch, which exceeded my expectations. Came back with my family for the dinner menu in 2022 and was delighted with the consistency. Every dish looked and tasted as amazing as it sounded on the menu. My 10 and 8 year olds enjoyed sharing in the adult menu options, and my husbands refined pallet was delighted as well. What a great experience! This restaurant inside the Edwin hotel has an ideal location at the riverfront, and was a perfect place to enjoy dinner before the Independence Day fireworks. Our server Cassie had a terrific energy, just the right combination of informality and efficiency. She offered recommendations which we took and we enjoyed a number of appetizers and small bites rather than entrees. While the wedge salad was a bit uninspiring, the hot crab dip and the pork belly certainly made up for it. The corn served with the salmon was one of the best things I've had in awhile and the potatoes and asparagus with the steak were great too! For desert we had the coffee donut. I'm a professed non-breakfast eater, but I broke down and decided to walk through the doors of Chattanooga's newest Appalachian cuisine and foodie's dream which is inside the Edwin Hotel - Whitebird. My initial thought was how very smart Whitebird is with everything having a purpose from the food to the artistic design of the space. Details, details, details... Let's begin with the stunning atmosphere- herringbone jade tile, industrial lighting, a long marble chef table with velvet grey upholstered chairs, and towers of greenery in every nook. Even when you enter, you are greeted by an art piece titled Mystic Dove Juggler by local artist Rick Booth. It is just as if I was being enveloped in calmness, which was a perfect place to be as our meal arrives. My dining partner HAD to have an appetizer of drop biscuits with sage gravy. I must say that even though I'm a Southern girl, I've never had this dish ever. Today was the day to remedy that. When Gloria came to claim our plates, she asked how we felt about this specialty and we could only think of one word that perfectly fits- ADDICTIVE! If you come and can only get one thing, get the biscuits and gravy. You'll rave! Next, we were given our main dishes named "Tried and True" which consisted of eggs, a sample of meats, toast and breakfast potatoes. Delicious beyond measure. During the meal, our server Gloria, oozed Southern charm and spent time talking with us about the genius behind Chef Kevin Korman's creation. Kids had pancakes and cheeseburger from kids menu. $5 and $10 respectively. Ok. We also had the benedict w/ crab cakes. The potatoes had an excellent spicy taste. Sunday brunch! 1st time I went for Sunday brunch was shortly after it opened and they weren't doing a brunch menu. My how times have changed. It's a creative menu. We started with biscuits and gravy. Not a huge starter but perfect to share. I was with 4 other and there are 5 biscuits so one each and it was a fantastic beginning. Also got to sample the French toast bites on the kids menu. Damn lucky kids who get ahold of those tasty tidbits. I chose the smoked skillet with the brisket. Brisket expertly smoked. Hash was flavorful. I'm not a kale or corn guy but it did not hamper my enjoyment of this dish whatsoever. It's almost like the chef had me in mind when he/she came up with this one. The coffee is solid. What a delightful experience we had at the White bird restaurant. We went to the Hunter Museum for a morning stroll and was hoping to have brunch or lunch there, only to find out they don't have a restaurant. I used my Yelp and we walked over to the hotels restaurant. We shared a fresh fruit plate and was delighted with the quality of the fruits. We ordered a variety of things. I got the mule (SO good) and my husband got a crown and coke, which they were very generous with the liquor. Ended with an espresso martini that was DIVINE. At the end of our meal, our server Kyle surprised us with glasses of champagne for our special occasion, which we enjoyed in our room. Next, on to the food! Side note for drinks: if you like whiskey, I recommend getting the Old Fashioned. They smoke their whiskey at the bar and the process was so cool to watch! We ordered: Mac & cheese 5/5: absolutely delicious, creamy, flavorful and paired SO well with the beef and pork Yellowtail ceviche 5/5: even my husband (who never eats raw fish) loved this. The flavors are so complex, there's a bright, acidic crunch. LOVE Smoked pork 11/5: my favorite for the night. The complexity of flavors and textures, truly so good!
