I highly recommend the "Bartender's Choice" cocktail option--the staff is incredibly skilled, and the drinks they crafted were awesome. ​However, management needs to fix their highly deceptive checkout flow. The bar chooses not to bake Tennessee's mandatory 15% Liquor-by-the-Drink tax into their menu prices. When the bartender flips the POS tablet to pay, the system completely hides the itemized receipt. It jumps straight to a final total that includes a combined 24.25% in state and liquor taxes. ​To make matters worse, the screen presents ridiculous suggested tip options of 20%, 30%, and 40%--which are calculated on top of that heavily taxed final total rather than the subtotal. If you just tap a prompt, you end up aggressively tipping on hidden taxes. ​Come for the excellent cocktails and great bartenders, but ignore the suggested buttons and manually calculate your tip based on the actual menu price of your drinks. read more

We happened upon this speak easy by accident. But I'm so glad we did. When you open the door, and walk down the hall, don't forget to look to the left to find the phone and the secret code. If I had to describe Unknown Caller, I would say pink and purple. It is a pretty place with an upscale but laid-back vibe. I enjoyed their mocktail and highly recommend the Desert Rose. Very cool spot hidden in a telephone booth in the middle of the city. The phone wasn't working when we stopped by on a Friday, so we just walked right in. Service was sooo friendly as we told them that it was our first time there and they explained everything. Inside, it's dark w/ a very eclectic NYC nightclub vibe. It's definitely possible that you might have a different experience, but I'm 100 percent sure that our server put in a different tip amount than we actually gave them, because the credit card charge did not match the total amount we gave. I'm definitely not happy that two drinks came in over $30 when one of them was nonalcoholic. I don't appreciate dishonesty over everything else. Everything about this spot screams millennial from the ambiance to the inclusiveness so I was sold. This place is twisted. They are so mean to their employees who are more than capable of running circles around half of management who is also apart of the tip pool. Management is making more than $50 an hour because they take tips from the people who are actually contributing to the tip Pool. They tolerate disrespectful employees and managers who have no business working there or running a team, yet they punish the hard working people who bring to light serious issues that need to be addressed. I have been picked on since I was hired there for being one of the only straight employees. They have continued to bully me during preshifts and have treated me differently to the point that every single staff member noticed it. This place is wild and I think it's fair that everyone in Chattanooga knows before they think of coming here for a drink or for work. Managers should never be apart of any tip pool in TN as that is illegal. Employees are made to get down on their hands and knees to scrub floors yet I never witnessed any manager doing that. They sit on their phones and just delegate tasks that we are already doing. It's a shame bc this place could be so cool but they have ruined it. read more
