Upon checking into hotel chalet we are informed by the front desk staff that if we ate at the hotel restaurant that we would get 20% off if we charged it to the room so that's what we decided to do. Very glad that we made the choice to eat here it is very charming, the patio is lovely and we dined indoors. The cocktails were tasty and our entrées were so good. I ordered the short rib Pappardelle the pasta sauce had a great depth of flavor, and it was a great portion and very filling. The staff were all wonderful. Ordered the Bistro steak with purple potatoes and spinach. The steak was ordered medium rare and was pretty much correctly cooked, however the flavor was a bit bland. At least it was edible. The potatoes / spinach combo was an unappetizing blob; gray in color and poorly seasoned. The potatoes were undercooked and the spinach overcooked. Seasoning was non-existent. Burgers had two small patties and just thrown on the bun with a tiny amount of wilted lettuce. The fries were tastelessand not fresh cut, likely frozen. The founder was not a fllet but more a medallion. Salad were not consistent and not fresh tasting. The chicken added to the salad was overcooked and unseasoned. It was 5:30 on a weekend night and they were out of ice tea. I ordered an old fashion and to me, it was overwatered, without soda, and bland. It was the worst I've had in town. Overall the restaurant was very disappointing to all on our party of six. read more

A funky little courtyard (a bit warm in the middle of the summer) which we chose to enjoy a glass of wine and a small bite with our friends before dinner elsewhere. The interior is just as cool. I'm from out of town. I added this restaurant to our itinerary before we came to town based on the reviews. The experience was underwhelming. We came on a Monday, made a reservation and it was not so busy, maybe 60% full. The menu already has only about 6 entrees to choose from and they were out of the two items that I wanted to try. I settled on the steak which was the most expensive on the menu. An hour later our food arrived. The portion sizes are small for the money, the steak came with fries, and the fries were hard and cold. They tasted stale like they'd been under a warmer for too long. I requested hot fries and what I received tasted like the same fries as before, maybe refried or rewarded. They came out too brown and dry. They were also out of the ingredients needed to make the pear cocktail that I wanted. That was the third stoke for me. When you spend $150+ on dinner, you simply expect better. read more

Delicious comfort food with a twist. Elsie's daughter is a cute kinda hidden away restaurant attached to The Chalet Hotel. The interior decor is very tasteful and slightly eclectic and the outside terrace is just a little magical hideaway. We came in with no reservation on a Saturday night (not ideal of us to do), but Baija cleared us off a table and was also our server. She was truly awesome. Great service, very on top of everything. Checking in with us, making sure everything was tasting good and when a drink that we ordered wasn't quite to our liking she no questions ask was like "I will replace it for you". She asked what type kf drink my husband likes normally and then came back with a drink that was perfect for him. For our food we got the Bacon Wrapped Quil and the Shrimp and Grits. The quail was served with rice and broccolini and was cooked perfectly. The quail was well complimented by the bacon. The shrimp and grits were divine and surprisingly light, it didn't weigh you down after eating it. The sausage and peppers in it balanced out the dish really well. It was a fantastic dinner. I was really excited about this place, we're staying in a train car next door for our anniversary. I made reservations, told them we were celebrating our anniversary, and they put us on the patio on a very cold night. It was our servers first night but he was lovely. First of all, if you're going to charge $15 for a croissant sandwich at least put 2 eggs in it. The atmosphere is super relaxing and made a great first impression. You enter through a metal gate that has ivy intertwined through it. The inside also a cool vibe. The service was excellent but I got there before typical dinner hours. As the restaurant filled up, I thought service would suffer but never did. Our waiter was friendly and attentive even when the tables were all full. The bar is made of wood appearing to be mahogany and is well stocked. The only reason for my three star review was the butternut squash soup. I eat this soup any time I see it on the menu. This cocktail bar is tucked cozily behind the converted train car rooms at Hotel Chalet and boasts some beautiful ambiance. The service was impeccable (they turned on some heat lamps outside and brought us blankets with our cocktails). We ended up coming back after dinner for a night cap and some dessert and were furthermore blessed with delicious cocktails and some amazing flourless chocolate cake and lemon bar style cookies. Great food, kind and attentive service from the host, waiter, and our food runner. i was told this place has a seasonal / rotating menu, and everything we ordered (appetizers- raw oysters, parmesan fries, winter salad) to our entrees (market catch, roasted chicken, chalet curry with salmon) were delectable and plentiful. we were initially sat in the outer seating area but got too cold and were moved inside without an issue. i did not get a cocktail by my company did and were all pleased. finally, we split the apple pie for dessert. everything was so hot and fresh, no pictures were taken! this would be a great place for a date, cocktails and apps, or a full meal with friends and family. will be going back! read more

To accommodate the "group" the staff took off one item from one person's bill. When asked for a timeline prior to arrival of the entrees our server noted asking the kitchen for an estimate would get him yelled at, very strange; Come to find out the kitchen AC was out. The communication (or lack of) around wait time for food, as well as spotty check ins for water and drinks left our group feeling disappointed we chose this as a brunch spot this past weekend. Would recommend on a slow service night checking out some drinks, not so much food. Service seems uncomfortably tight when busy and inexperienced with a full house, inconsistencies in recent visits has me venturing to say I would not recommend this place, generally.
